Talbot Sunbeam Lotus Essex, 1980. The Talbot Sunbeam Lotus was a modest rear wheel drive hatchback transformed by the insertion of a Lotus 2.2 litre DOHC 16 valve 4 cylinder engine. The rally version won the WRC in 1980. The Essex was a one=off built for Essex Motorsport, sponsors of the Lotus F1 team from 1979 to 1981. It was left hand drive because the team was based in Monaco. It is pictured with a special edition Lotus Essex Turbo Esprit.

Talbot-Matra Murena S, 1982. The Bagheera was replaced by the Murena after Peugeot's takeover of Simca and all of Chrysler's European operations. It was a substantially new design though it continued to use the 3 seats abreast arrangement. However Peugeot's rebrand of Simca as Talbot was not a success. The final 480 Murena models made by Matra became Murena S versions with a twin carburettor 2.2 litre engine. It was discontinued and not replaced in 1983. The last Talbot cars were made in 1986 thought the marque continued to be used on commercial vehicles until 1994.
