You've heard of HELLMO get ready for HELLINE! Scrimbly Jacqueline 2 of 52 >:)

for a "quick scrimbly doodle with little to no erasing" this one gave me trouble! I thought of helline as this week's last week and then on Monday when I grabbed a scrap piece of paper at work, I tried to doodle it and my GOD. The posing was HARD. FOR A SCRIMBLY DOODLE. at least i tried to keep the silly lil hands, huehuehue.

this first one I was like. okay so. I drew a head like I was doing a regular drawing and went WAIT DANI. THAT'S NOT SCRIMBLY ENOUGH. and also immediately went ou. the posing. let me pull up hellmo and figure this shit out and that's the main doodle. I turned the page 🙃🙃🙃

then i was like 'okok i think i get it let me get a better hellmo on screen' which lead to the second one below:

which turned out BETTER but didn't look gremlin-y enough. I was like. the expression needs to be BIGGER. And the arms aren't in the right spot for me lil eyes.

I put it aside and then my husband texted me about me roasting him at lunch to my friends (he chews ice cream, he deserved the roast about that) and sent a hellmo gif and I went OKAY LET'S TRY AGAIN and voila!

there's the original pre-cam scan clean up, lol. forgor to sign it, but it's cool I fixed it after! I found these really nice thin tip marker pens so I traced the scrimbly doodle in that bc last week's Jacqueline came out so PALE.

AND THEN I REMEMBERED WE HAD WATERCOLOUR MARKERS JUST HANGING OUT IN THE CUPBOARDS AT WORK FOR A FUN LITTLE POP UP THING WE DID TALKING ABOUT MANUSCRIPTS WITH SOME COLOURING PAGES TO GIVE PEOPLE DE-STRESSING TIME

AND GRABBED THEM AND SO NOW NOT ONLY DO WE HAVE HELLINE. WE HAVE HELLINE IN TECHNICOLOUR! AHAHAHA!

these doodles bring me joy. my fridge is full of shitty winter child. it's beautiful.

Tattoos I've got like a dozen so far

Makers mark and botanical design with trees n plants relevant to my life; Celtic cross (this is gonna become a shield with queer flags), Ankh-Morpork symbol from Discworld and a combo of the trans enby and peace symbols; B natural on my outer wrist, and on my inner left arm is crossed mallet n chisel, abutilon flower my mum drew, cauldron of soup, and a heart shaped globe for the love of frens round the world 💖

I have also a queer chevron on my bicep, a pansy on my ankle and the symbol Galadriel put on the box for Sam on my thumb

My woodwork process is basically this: an idea strikes, I see what I can do to execute it, I sand it well to hide the mistakes :P

Current project is a walking stick commish which someone asked for upon seeing other walking sticks I'd made, so I sent them pics of wands I've carved to show that I can in fact do certain shapes and that my subpar drawing skills don't match what I can do in timber

This is the piece of cherry I'm currently working down; a couple years ago a relative called and said he had a cherry tree blown down, knew I had a chainsaw and a passion for timber so would I like to be the one to cut it up? So of course I did, cutting the pieces into the absolute maximum that I could carry and load into the van

Fast forward to now, that relly passed on some months back but I honour his memory by working the timber he gifted me cos it's dry now, I used axe n hammer to split off a segment which has gorgeous grain lines, chatoyancy, some solidified red resin, and it's gonna look lovely once it's finished up 💖

Handle of the walking stick is gonna be lathe turned, inspired by one of my wands, and glued up from a block of walnut with some veneer highlight stripes to make it pop

Wands is a great way to show what I can make, and I've got a lot in stock so I can rephoto them to show details n such

The middle wand in that last pic is turned tulipwood and inspired the handle design for the walking stick ^~^

And here's a close pic of the cherry grain shining in the sunlight 💖 I have many pics of many things but I don't wanna ramble on too long lol

Special effects: The special effects were probably incredible for the time, but compared to recent effects, aren't so believable now. They fit in with the era of the movie and the tone especially, albeit a little overboard, they did the movie justice and would strike fear into those that watched it back in the day.

Jules Verne was a french novelist, who also wrote poetry and plays. He wrote Journey to the centre of the earth in 1864 as a science fiction.

Ray Harryhausen was an American artist and visual effects creator who died on May 7th 2013, he created 'Dynamation', which is stop motion animation used in films to make it appear as if the actors are interacting with the models.

"The creatures seemed to be alive", this was what made Ray's legendary stop-motion stand out from all others, and he is looked up to by many film makers today. Some have studied his films and tried to figure out his process.

Ray took interest to stop motion as a hobby when he was in his back garden, staring at the age of 13. It developed from a hobby into a profession, and in 1949 he received an invitation from the creator of King Kong to work on Mighty Joe Young.

The first step of Dynamation- You have to break down all the moving moments into still positions, and it is a very tedious process. You had to film the background image and camera does not move while filming the background. The background film would then be developed and loaded into a projector in a studio of some sorts. The first frame is then projected onto a back screen (a thin piece of plastic stretched tightly) and a motion picture camera is used to rephoto the new action as the film plays. Glass is then put between the camera and the screen, painted black, so that the model or stop motion created could, let's say, come out infront of a building. The stop motion is a tedious part of filming but, after hundreds of shots, if you've done it correctly, you can get quite a smooth animation. This is then played back, and the actors study the movements of the characters and react to it in film. The actors had a 'shadow block' and this, (them reacting) was then filmed with the developed stop motion. This is how dynamation works.

Back projection is when you project an image on the back of a translucent screen in the background of what's used in a film. This helped Ray's movies come to life when stop motion fight scenes were used, and this is what helped make them look so real.

I had a photoshoot last weekend - that is why I coudn’t finish any of my drawing projects - and the weather and the place was so beautiful I needed to take some photos. Here it is one of these photos, if you are interested in more, check out my instagram where I posted all of these! :3

If you follow my insta, you could already see that the main photoshoot on Saturday was rephotoing my old Nyo!France cosplay I made back in 2015. My mom took these pictures, (who is just an reagular mom without any photography or photograpy retush skills) so I am the one who try to retushing the colors and stuffs in Lightroom... but well, I am an absolutly beginner too. But I hope you will like it as much as I am! :)
