Hi Taylor, flashback to when Love Story dropped, that’s the first time I heard from you, the first time I got fascinated by your story, the first time I got so amazed by your songwriting skills. From then onwards, I started digging your older songs, downloading and listening to them all. I met a couple of Swifties way back in freshman year in high school and we were BFFs (here’s to Sherina, Rochelle, Cheradie and Angelica) (up until this day). I remembered those school days during recess and lunch breaks, we’d literally listen and sing along to your songs including love story, YBWM, Fearless, White Horse, Mine, Mean, Story of Us, etc. We have never been to any of your shows at all.

After graduating high school, we’re still friends and kept in touch, however, I had to move to Australia from Philippines and we sort of parted ways. I’ve already graduated from college and now working full time and you and your music just stuck with me all throughout my high school, college and now as a full time working adult. And I guess, you always will have a place in my heart. Thanks for sticking with me throughout my journey and please know I’ve never left your side no matter what.

Finally after such a long ride and so many battles, I’m finally seeing you live in Perth. I feel so blessed to be able to save up and afford to see you perform. I’m dedicating this to my Swiftie friends back in the Philippines and hoping someday we’ll get to see each other again and finally see you perform all together! Here’s to my real friends including you Taylor! I can’t wait to have the time of my life, I’ve literally waited for this day to happen!!

a love letter to taylor swift.

Okay so, I’m not entirely sure where to start or what to write so i’m just going to ramble and hope that it turns into something decent that actually makes sense.

Hey Taylor ( @taylorswift , @taylornation ), my name is Sarah, I’m twenty, I’m going to your Melbourne, Australia Reputation show on October 26 2018, I’ll be sitting the closest i’ve ever been to the stage during one of your shows with my mum in section A1, Row BB, in seats 7 & 8.

I can’t fathom, let alone put into words how excited I am to see you on tour again! Every single show i’ve been to from fearless all the way through to 1989 (and now Reputation, I’m sure!) have been jaw dropping, interactive, unique and incredibly fun shows and i’ve had the time of my life at each and every tour you’ve brought down under and am entirely grateful that i got to attend them.

I think i’d be correct when i say that i’ve grown up with you pretty much my entire life and I’m so grateful and happy that i did and will continue to do so, there is no out growing you…ever! I’ll never forget how I discovered you and your music and how i was just in such awe that I had to go out that same exact day that I first heard a fifteen second snippet of Love Story and an even smaller snippet of Fifteen to buy your album. I was so fascinated and it was like love at first sight, those two snippets and the small clip of the Love Story music video was more than enough to send me spending my small amount of pocket money just so i could listen to to them over and over again!

 I still say that it was fate that my brother had a nightmare and woke me up at 6am to help calm him down and that we went and sat on the couch to watch saturday disney and an ad for Fearless came on. 

I was 9 turning 10 when i first discovered you and I was 12 turning 13 when i got to go to my first ever concert….which was Fearless at Rod Laver Arena! That show changed my life, just like your music has! I will always be inspired by you as a person and by your music. The fact that i’ve been able to grow up with you and ten years later still feel like i can connect with you and your music on such a high level is just further proof that you are one of the most amazing talents to ever grace the world.

Like every fan, you and your music have been there for me through an insane amount of trauma like losing my dad to cancer and heartache like feeling like it was the end of the world when a guy doesn’t like you back or you lose a friend who you thought was incredible but was a really bad person and just life in general and its such a special feeling when you find someone who can make you feel better and actually make you smile through those things.

You’ve also helped me create life long friendships and strengthen others that were already forming. I’ve met some really incredible people through being a fan of yours..some that live only a short forty five mins from me and some that live on the other side of the world and I wouldn’t have it any other way, these friendships are so magical and wonderful and its all because of you and the joy you bring to our lives! 

I could never, ever thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me and for your music and your speeches and in hopes that you’ve stumbled upon this and that you’re actually reading it, I would like to thank you even just a little bit for all of that and for being there for myself and every other single fan you’ve got out there, you are truely a gem and you’re so special! I love you so much and i’ll see you in October! I can’t wait!
