btw. i reread trsom next just for the raphael content. he is so fucking funny all the time and i miss him. the way he acts like he doesnt care until magnus’ wellbeing is brought up and he is immediately asking if something is happening or if he needs help. and he talks to alec because he wants to help magnus. the way he cares for his vampires. IN THE BOOK IT LITERALLY SAYS “his vampires” when referencing lily and elliott. theres a scene of raphael pushing them out of the way of danger and of raphael brushing dust out of elliotts dreadlocks. im dead i die. when there is danger he runs straight to his vampires. he stops them from endangering themselves and puts their safety first. whenever hes even slightly annoyed or uncomfortable he texts ragnor’s phone number like he would still respond. he loves his people

One of my favorite moments in tsc is in trsom when alec goes to that downworlder party in Venice and realizes just how beautiful the downworld is. It was such a beautiful and important moment in his journey.

And this wouldn't have been possible if Alec hadn't met Magnus. I'm just so glad he met him and it allowed him to be more open and free and see beauty in things he wasn't familiar with.

It's weird how one person can change the course of someone else's life so drastically. And it's even more beautiful that Magnus did this for so many other people too.

I love the quote 'love opens you up to the world.' And I think that's really true for malec.

it’s a bit of a shame that the red scrolls of magic wasn’t published before the rest of the tmi books...for one, because of the continuity. from memory, I’m pretty sure alec and magnus meet helen blackthorn in trsom and witness the beginnings of her relationship with aline...yet in city of lost souls, it shows alec meeting helen for the first time :(

Hot take: tlbotw is not good, I only love it bc its main characters are malec and bc both of them are sacrificial parasocial idiots for each other. Malec privilege. Other than them, the book does nothing for me and I haven't reread it since September of 2020 whereas I've reread trosm thrice.

bestie you really go OFF!! and some of yall gonna be mad at me but it much be sad i agree. malec is the book only saving grace plot what plot villain what villain. also the climax....yeah don't even start the only good thing comes out of that climax is malec being self-sacrificing idiots pls. trsom is top tier cause it essentially a romcom about malec and their romantic getaway trip with some cult business please. we need to get back to their roots for tbvotd! honeymoon and necromancy business!
