Kinda nice to see them really making use of the coastal location with an ocean-related story

Gotta love the image of Nathan and Duke in Little League together

Love the way Nathan just goes along with Duke's greeting when he turns up outside the Gull

I kind of like the occasional moment when they forgot about Nathan's Trouble, like here where he seems to realise the money is counterfeit by feeling it

Love this Duke plot though, it's the kind of episode (and particularly his “The plan is evolving with the situation”) where he reminds me of Malcolm Reynolds in Serenity.

I'm having so many thoughts about secrets and truths in the context of this episode, but I'm going to have to think on them a bit more before they're coherent enough to make much sense. But there's something going on there about how Haven is a story built not only on the keeping of secrets but the telling of them too.

s01e12 - Resurfacing

This episode, a missing fishing boat washes up on the beach, and with it recriminations and blame for what went wrong. We learn a little about Duke and Nathan's childhood, and see them (reluctantly) team up to arrest someone who has it in for Duke;

Plus, Audrey learns something fairly mindblowing about her own past when James Garrick tells her about his memories of Lucy.

This is another Trouble that isn't really dealt with so much as just ... left alone, although we do see the impact that knowing the truth can have on a family and their place in Haven.

Often we see how people in Haven, and the town as a whole, have to keep secrets for their own safety, but this is perhaps an good illustration of how the truth can be important too.

We used Anew Surface to refinish a bathtub that had been previously painted by a handyman. The company was responsive to my inquiries and the worker was prompt to arrive on scheduled date and time. The service was very professionally done, and I appreciated additional information that Ian shared with me as far as the curing/drying process and care of the finished tub. Honestly it looked like a brand-new bathtub. Ian cleaned up after his work and called me in an appropriate time frame that allowed for my return home prior to his leaving. We had a space saver secured to the wall beside the tub and I was told (then) that the small space in front of the tub that the space saver is near would not be 'reachable' to resurface using his equipment so the paint may not be an exact 'white' match to what is applied as new. Still, he made efforts to cover this space and you could not tell at all as everything looked uniform. (There had not been any damage to the front of the tub in that area anyway). I found the gentleman to be very friendly and courteous and it was a true pleasure to do business with this company. We had never had a tub resurfaced and I had made multiple calls and had many interviews with businesses in exploring all the different options and companies. It's a constant battle to educate these two about road safety so this felt a little alien to get them to stand in the middle on the freshly painted new surface. It was blissfully quiet whilst the road was closed though and something that rarely happens. I'm sure these two will appreciate this when they are in their twenties. This road has been part of my daily route for over 20 years so even before I lived in my current house I'd been driving past it for 15 years or so. I've never seen the road resurfaced like this. It had to be documented, it may never be done again in my lifetime.
