#rethinking voxels

We had a storage warehouse on our realm already, but I really wanted a space for plant-specific storage for the ten million oak leaves I inevitably need to save for custom trees -- so I built us a greenhouse! I think this might be the largest build I've done yet!!

A couple of things have labels, but for the most part storage spaces are delineated by the plants themselves -- barrels for a particular type of leaf have the corresponding sapling sitting on top, flowerboxes show off what kinds of flowers go in the barrels next to them, etc. I really wanted the space to have practical room to store EVERY PLANT, but to also feel like the primary purposes is growing and enjoying them.

And bonus planning sketches:

it took a LOT of planning -- these are just a few of the sketches I did trying to figure out where everything should go. IT WAS HONESTLY QUITE INTIMIDATING TO SORT OUT, I can't believe it's done!!

Why share screenshots of the build when I can share a video?

Here's a nice (relatively) quick walkthrough of the rooms! Decided to use the Handcrafted mod for the furniture cause I like the look of it! Also included (primarily in the kitchen floor) is the Squashed mod! It's got some really nice textures, and the hardened stone (think that's it) is really nice, like an inbetween of regular and smooth stone!

There's no exterior yet, still thinking of what I'm gonna do for that, but I'm pretty happy with the interior! It's nice and simple and I tried to keep it fairly accurate to what I've drawn!

Shame the wall mounted trophies kinda don't work correctly with Rethinking Voxels, you can see there's a weird square around the wither skull trophy.

Rethink Voxels is a GORGEOUS shader pack and it brought my custom tree to life!

minecraft shaders really went off when they stopped focusing on making realistic clouds, water, foliage waving etc. and started focusing on just making the game look pretty by leaning into the original style

While we wait to discover which will win, Optifine updating to 1.20.2 or me downloading Iris, here's some WIP screenshots I took of one of my current projects before our realm updated! I caught the minecraft disease that makes you want to build custom trees so I'm working on prettying up the forest around my base, lighting the area enough to make it safe while looking as natural as possible. IT HAS TURNED OUT TO BE, A BIG PROJECT, but I'm really happy with how it's coming out so far!!

I decided I wanted to try and actually lay out how my OCs' house would look like in Minecraft. Not done it yet, I want to get a furniture mod to better decorate with, but I'm liking it so far. Probably gonna share some screenshots when I'm done.

It's weird doing a build starting with the interior. I usually start with the outside and try and fit the interior in, but I figured it would make more sense to start with the room shapes and then put an interior around it. I think it's coming along nicely though!
