Roles Reversed
Anddd here’s the second and final chapter for the day! A bit of reverse love square bc a smitten Adrien is my fave Adrien! Wish we had gotten this for a bit longer in s5 :’).
AO3
Shifting his bag, Adrien looked up at the bakery hopefully. He was currently standing outside those doors, waiting for the best moment to go in and hopefully get a chance to see Marinette.
Yes, Adrien Agreste was completely and utterly smitten by Marinette Dupain-Cheng. He knew that the very first day he met her.
Though they hadn’t gotten off on the right foot, he was positively determined to make her one of his first friends. And, yet, when that thunder sounded in the distance and he blinked down into a pair of curious, sapphire blue eyes he found himself wanting more. And then that umbrella snapped down on her head filling him with such euphoria he couldn’t help laughing.
That was the day his crush started. It evolved quickly after that. Growing into something bigger each day Adrien saw her kindness and utter brilliance.
Yes, he was absolutely smitten with her. If only she noticed him.
No matter how often he flirted with her, it seemed like Marinette would only ever shake her head or roll her eyes. Like she didn’t quite believe he was being serious.
Adrien couldn’t help but wonder if that did have something to do with the gum incident. Perhaps she still blamed him for trying to fix one of Chloé’s pranks.
But, he was determined to win her over. Just like that day in the rain he’d show her his heart and get her to realize that his love for her was true.
Sucking in a deep breath and summoning some of his Chat Noir courage, Adrien pushed his way through those doors. The bells chimed above him and all at once his nerves completely vanished the second that he saw Marinette’s smiling face.
A goofy grin spread across his cheeks as he found himself drawn towards her. “Fancy seeing you here, Marinette.”
She scoffed, shaking her head at him even as her smile grew wider. “Yes, fancy seeing me at the bakery I live and work at.”
Adrien leaned across the counter, trying to memorize her face. She was so pretty. Even when she was looking at him like he was absolutely insane.
Her eyebrow slowly rose as he continued to just stare. “Did you want to buy a croissant? Or maybe a macaron?”
“What if I told you I came by just to see you?”
Marinette’s lips parted with surprise. She blinked down at him before the confusion slowly faded to a look of utter amusement. “I’d say that you could have asked to hang out instead of simply coming to the bakery.”
Adrien chuckled, his eyes glimmering at her playfully. “Ah, but would you have said yes?”
Her expression softened before she nodded her head. “Of course, I would have, Adrien. We’re friends. We can hang out any time you’re free. I know you’re usually busy with your father’s photoshoots, though.”
And there was the word. The word that he had come to utterly loathe. Even though it should have lifted his spirits, it instead caused his hopes to crash down. Friend. That’s all she’d ever see of him.
Marinette must have seen his face fall because she instantly perked up, grabbing a croissant and pink macaron before placing them into a bag. “You look hungry, Adrien. Why don’t you eat these? And, maybe, on my break we can find some time to meet up in the park. Would that be alright?”
He cheered up quite quickly, grabbing the bag from her and nodding his head eagerly. “That’d be absolutely lovely, Marinette. Thank you for finding the time to meet up with me.”
“No problem, Adrien.” She winked at him and his heart fluttered. So adorable. “I know how hard it is for you to find time to meet up with friends, so of course we can meet up whenever you have free time.”
He beamed at her. Marinette was just so warm and caring. It was no wonder he loved her. Now if only he could get her to love him too.
Paying for the treats, he then reached over and took the bag from her. Adrien’s heart quickened as their fingers brushed. A shiver ran down his spine at the touch. Was his mind playing tricks on him or were Marinette’s cheeks slightly pink?
But, within the next second, the blush was gone and she was grinning at him once more. “My break is in an hour. Will you still have time to go with me to the park?”
Adrien nodded eagerly. All his father needed to know was that he decided to take some time to study after his fencing lessons. It’s not like he ever noticed he was gone when he was Chat Noir.
“I’ll always have time for you, Marinette.”
“You’re so silly, Adrien.” She giggled, tapping his nose from across the counter.
He should have felt disappointed but instead, he just felt completely lovestruck. She touched his nose! That was two touches from the girl of his dreams on the same day. And, wasn’t that truly wonderful?
Giving her a dazed wave, Adrien turned around and sat down at one of the empty tables. Pulling out the croissant, he practically devoured it while he waited. It was positively delicious.
He was definitely going to have to summon the courage to confess to her later today. Maybe that would convince her that he was serious about his feelings for her. But, then again, wouldn’t it be better if he designed an elaborate date idea before confessing?
Yep, it would definitely be best to save the emotional confession over a moonlit dinner by the Eiffel Tower. Ooh, or maybe even a date on a boat on the Seine!
It was decided then. He was definitely going to save the confession. Today Adrien would just continue flirting with her. Maybe he could even see if Marinette would be willing to go on a date with him by the Eiffel Tower.
Casting a quick glance over at her, he felt his cheeks warm when he noticed that she was already staring. Marinette simply grinned and waved at him, completely unaware that all Adrien could think about was finding a way to woo her.
She mouthed I’ll be out in a minute and he quickly straightened up. He was definitely going to think of this as their first date.
Maybe he could even figure out a way to hold her hand.
Even just thinking about it sent tingles up his hand. Stretching his hand out, Adrien glanced at the clock. He couldn’t wait until it was time for her break!

Butterfly Adrien:
-This au is where Fu lost the Peacock and Cat miraculous instead
-Adrien never went to school until much later on in season 2 or 3, but he was able to try to sneak in the school and helped Fu. That's how he got the butterfly miraculous.
-Gabriel used the peacock miraculous to turn into the villian Pavone. He locked the Cat miraculous in the safe behind Emilie portrait because Plagg won't cooperate to help him, and he tried to kill him once.
-Adrien met Nooroo just like he met Plagg in the Canon version. Nooroo already liked the boy; he can tell he is perfect chosen for the butterfly miraculous.
-Adrien also has the Cat miraculous after he steals it in the safe when there was a power outage in the city.
-Adien wears different clothes when he had the butterfly and ring miraculous. He wears a black turtleneck cloth, dark blue jacket, a necklace (his miraculous, he tied it with a string on it to make it look like a necklace) and a fingerless glove where the ring resides. His pants and shoes are the same
-Adrien calls himself Chrysalis (ca-ri-sa-lis) the butterfly hero, he doesn't often show himself that much instead he send his companions to help Ladybug and giving them instructions but if he does he is a very good fighter
-The first time Ladybug met Chrysalis was in the episode Sandboy. He only shows up at 2-3 times a week
-He transforms into Cat Noir sometimes to help Ladybug and his companion. It's hard work for him; he has to transform into Chrysalis to Chat noir and again. He's doing it to help Ladybug and so she won't be suspicious that he is Chat noir.
-It's really tiring him using both miraculous and switching back to another hero
-Nooroo and Plagg sometimes fight over who is Adrien's holder and favourite.
-Chloe is actually a decent person in this au and is a friend of Adrien. The only real reason why Gabriel allowed Adrien to go to school is because Chloe threatened him with something (still doesn't decided what it is).
-Ladybug fallen in love with Chrysalis in this au when he saved her from Sandboy. Their dynamic is more nicer and decent compared to the Canon one:
"A-are you?"
*Smiles* "Hello, my name is Chrysalis, the hero of transmission. Nice to meet you"
"N-names Ladybug, n-nice to meet you"
"It feels nice meeting my partner face to face for the first"
-Ladybug is in love with Chrysalis but Chrysalis is oblivious about it. But he always accepts her love for him. On Valentine's Day Ladybug got Chrysalis a gift and a flower when she called him to come to a roof. As kind hearted as Chrysalis is, he accepted her and let her be his Valentine's date.
-Chrysalis is serious and a complete dork, sometimes even in fighting sentimonster, it mixes between them. He is always kind to Ladybug that's why Ladybug loves him
-Nooroo and Plagg ships it:
"Ahhh… looks like the bug has fallen in love with my kitten"
"Ahem. You mean my Butterfly, his my holder Plagg"
"Oh shut up Apollo, his my holder not yours"
"What are you two talking about?" - Adrien
"Nothing!" - Nooroo and Plagg
-Chloe knows Adrien is Chrysalis and Chat noir after he gave her the Cat miraculous for a day since he was sick at that time, she calls her self Eloise.

Miraculous Fic: Reassurances
I wanted to do a little something in honor of @ladrienjune since it's going on, but my brain is also still kinda stuck on my BFF Swap + Reverse Crush AU. So, here's something that IS by definition Ladrien, but the dynamic's a bit different because, well, reverse lovesquare.
Anyhow, enough of me. Please enjoy the story!
~*~
Summary: Adrien wasn’t expecting to find Ladybug outside his house looking for all the world like she’d been carrying the world on her shoulders and somehow dropped it.
Notes: AU Season 1, Best Friend Swap + Reverse Lovesquare
Dialogue Prompt – "It's nothing, I'm just tired." Ladrien June Prompt – 5. Just Friends

Adrien was pacing around his room as he talked on the phone with his best friend. (His best friend! He was still growing used to the idea, even though Alya often pointed out that they’d already been friends even before going to school together.) His constant movement had more to do with excess energy than any sort of discontent.
The blond was just walking across the cushions of his sofa when movement outside his windows caught his attention. It was hard to see in the dark with his ordinary human vision, and it went by quickly, but Adrien could have sworn he had just seen…
No. They’d just fought an akuma earlier that day, surely there wasn’t another one already? If there was, Alya probably would have been one of the first to know – she kept track of such things – and definitely would have said something rather than continuing her thorough breakdown of the latest battle fought by the United Heroez. But why else would Ladybug be out at this hour?
“Alya, I’ll have to call you back,” Adrien interrupted.
“What? No,” Alya protested. “I was just getting to the best part!”
“I know, but later, okay? I’ve got to do something real quick.”
“Fine, but if you don’t call back soon, I can’t promise I won’t spam you with text messages.”
“I’d expect nothing less.”
Disconnecting the call, Adrien slid the phone into his pocket before bounding over to his windows, trying to see if he could spot (ha!) Ladybug in the darkness. “Plagg, did you see anything?”
The teen turned around when the kwami gave no response. Plagg was sprawled on his back on the bed, in a cheese coma, no doubt. Repressing a sigh, Adrien jogged over to grab the sleepy kwami and slip him into a pocket.
Poking his head out his bedroom door, he glanced both ways before stepping out into the hall. It wouldn’t do for Nathalie or his father to see him sneaking outside the house late at night, even if he wasn’t planning on going far. (Nevermind that he did so all the time as Chat Noir. This situation was different.)
Adrien looked around as he quietly exited through a side door. Whatever he thought he’d seen had appeared to be moving in this direction. Who was he kidding, though? Even if he had seen Ladybug and she had gone by his house, why would she still be nearby? He would have had better luck finding whatever or whoever it was as Chat Noir.
Just as he was about to give up the search and head back inside, he heard a muffled sound from the other side of the wall. Hurrying over to the nearest gate, he took a moment to disable the security on it. Honestly, his father needed to be a little less predictable with his security codes. Adrien then stepped out onto the sidewalk, moving cautiously towards where he thought he heard the sound.
There! Tucked between a shrub and a burnt out streetlight, back against the stone wall and knees folded against her chest was Ladybug, spots only just discernible in the darkness. She seemed so… small, just then. Adrien wasn’t sure what exactly he had been expecting, but it certainly wasn’t to find his partner outside his house looking for all the world like she’d been carrying the world on her shoulders and somehow dropped it.
“Ladybug?” Adrien said softly.
The girl startled, eyes wide with alarm as she looked up at him, before relaxing again a moment later. “Oh, um, hi,” she responded, false cheer in her tone, her hands raising to swipe quickly beneath both eyes before resting atop her knees. “It’s Adrien, right? Shouldn’t you be at home?”
“You’re outside my house.” Adrien gestured to the structure behind her.
“Your house?” Ladybug echoed, turning her head as though to look and getting a face full of shrubbery for her trouble. (Adrien resisted the urge to laugh at the adorable look of consternation that passed over her features.) She raised to her feet and moved away from the wall to actually get a glimpse of the so-called ‘house’ in question. “Gosh, I’m sorry. I guess I must not have been paying attention to where I was going. I didn’t mean to disturb anyone.”
“No, you aren’t bothering me or anything. I just thought I saw something go past my window and came to investigate,” he assured her.
Her blue eyes turned back to him and even in the muted light of the moon, even behind her mask, they appeared red-rimmed and puffy. Like she’d been crying. The idea made Adrien’s stomach churn uncomfortably.
“If you’re sure…” said Ladybug.
“Absolutely.”
It was interesting talking to her this way, as Adrien. She always seemed so flustered around him when he was Chat. He always wished she could just talk to him the way he saw her talk to other people. He still wasn’t sure what he’d done to make her so uncomfortable around him and the times he’d tried to ask only seemed to make it worse.
“Well, I guess I should probably get going,” she announced. “You really should get back inside. It’s probably not very safe to be wandering around outside without shoes.”
Adrien glanced down to find that he was, in fact, only wearing socks. He looked back up quickly as she drew her yoyo from her hip. “No, wait!”
She blinked back at him in surprise. “Did you need something?”
“No! I mean, yes - that is,” Adrien silently berated himself as he tried to put his thoughts into coherent order. “I just… Are you okay?”
Because that was really the crux of the matter, wasn’t it? It was late at night and his partner, a girl he liked to think of as his friend, was alone and crying. And he couldn’t think of a reason why. Sure, the fight with the akuma had gone a little sideways at the start, but they had won, in the end. Everything had been fixed, hadn’t it?
“It’s nothing, I’m just tired,” she told him. She was wearing a camera-smile. Adrien could tell. He had a few of his own.
He was going to just leave it be. He should just leave it be. It wasn’t his business. Nonetheless, despite his intentions, he still blurted out, “You weren’t crying just now?”
Ladybug drew in a sharp breath, shooting him a stricken look. She looked ready to cry again and Adrien could just kick himself. Why did he have to open his big mouth? She could only just hold a conversation with his alter-ego; why would she want to talk to him as Adrien about whatever was upsetting her?
“I…” Ladybug began, expression crumpling and shoulders sagging in a way Adrien just hated to see in someone he already admired. “It’s just—”
She let out a hiccuping breath, visibly trying to fight it back only to have it be followed by another. A high-pitched sound of distress emerged then, her hand raising too slowly to properly muffle it. And then, much to Adrien’s own alarm, it was as though a dam had broken and the words and tears seemed to spill out of her.
“Everything went wrong today! At home and school, and – and then with the akuma, I made like a dozen different mistakes. I made a complete idiot of myself in front of my partner. Again. And my best friend is mad at me because I broke a promise and I can’t even explain why. It has been th-the worst day ever and now I’m just dumping all my problems on you and you don’t even know me. I must be the worst Ladybug tha—”
“Whoa – hey, I-I’m sure that’s not true!” Adrien cut in, his hands fluttering uselessly in the air between them. “You’re an awesome Ladybug! So awesome my best friend spends all her free time doing a blog about you! Have you seen it? It’s called the Ladyblog and if you haven’t visited it, you totally should! There’s a whole section just for people to leave notes to let you know how much they appreciate you and what you do. I mean, it’s for you and Chat Noir both, but you’re a team, right? Chat Noir couldn’t do what he does without you.”
His partner was staring at him again, the moonlight catching her features in a sort of melancholy relief. The sobs that had been wracking her slight frame had quieted, perhaps in surprise at his rather wordy and impassioned interjection, although tears still trickled down her face.
Hesitating just a moment, Adrien reached out to put a hand on Ladybug’s shoulder, giving a reassuring squeeze when she didn’t flinch or pull away. “You had a bad day,” he told her, “that doesn’t mean you’re a bad person or that you aren’t good at what you do. Everyone has off days and everyone makes mistakes.
“You are a good Ladybug,” Adrien asserted, trying to put all of his certainty into the words, “Paris is lucky to have you.”
Ladybug let out another sob and for a split second Adrien was afraid he had said something wrong before she crashed against him, arms going around his waist as she buried her face in his chest. The boy returned the embrace, pressing his cheek against the top of her head and making reassuring noises the way Alya did when she comforted one of her sisters.
They stood there for a moment, Adrien rubbing a hand soothingly along Ladybug’s back. Part of him wanted to ask what she’d meant when she said she’d made an idiot of herself in front of him, but of course, Ladybug didn’t know he was also Chat Noir. He wished once more that she’d been less adamant about keeping their identities a secret. Maybe then there’d be some better way for him to help her. Maybe she wouldn’t be so flustered around Chat if she knew he was just Adrien beneath the mask. Nonetheless, it was obvious he’d have to do something to encourage her more the next time they were both in costume.
“Thanks,” Ladybug finally said, stepping away from him. Her hands brushed over her cheeks again and she was mostly back to the Ladybug the city had come to know. “And sorry for crying all over you.”
“It’s fine. I’m glad to help,” he told her.
She gifted him a smile – a real one, this time – and something about the expression seemed so familiar. “You’re sweet. Who would have known the boy whose face is all over Paris would be such a sweetheart?”
A blush rose to his face unbidden and Adrien scratched the back of his head. “Yeah, well, who’d think Ladybug would tease someone she just met?” he countered with a small grin. Her laughter rang through the air before she leaned up to press a kiss to his cheek.
“Thank you, Adrien.”
“Anytime.”
She turned to leave again and Adrien reached out to put a hand on her arm to delay her departure.
“I mean it, Ladybug,” he told her. “Anytime you need a friend, you know where to find me.”
“I’ll remember that.” She smiled softly and then she was gone, leaving him alone on the sidewalk. As Adrien turned to go back inside, his phone in his pocket started to vibrate with a series of rapid-fire texts. Right on cue.
Pulling his phone out as he went back inside, Adrien hoped that Ladybug would be okay. He also hoped that one day, he’d be able to have a conversation with her as Chat Noir without feeling like he was stressing her out. (He would, but it wouldn’t be for some time yet.)
He nearly got caught heading back to his room. Alya had sent him a meme that made him burst out laughing.

When Adrien comments on how cute Marinette's nails look, she doesn't hesitate, she just volunteers to paint his nails.
He doesn't hesitate either, he immediately agrees. After all, he's free after school, it seems fun, and it shouldn't take too long to paint his nails. It's only once he's on her room, and his heart starts pounding in his chest that he realizes how much trouble he's getting himself into.
Whether or not she's aware of it, is an entirely different question.

"If your Miraculouses were to be unified by someone, it would unlock a power that has so foolishly been named 'Wish'," Fu said solemnly. "When in this state, one is able to access 'ultimate power'. Ultimate and uncontrollable power."
"It is not something humans can truly control," Marianne whispered. "Within the universe, we are nothing. Specks in the vastness. When all of that power is channeled through us, something so small... well, all one can do is put their desire out into the universe, and the forces of reality will bend to make it so."

Hi, I love your fics! Could you write some reverse adrinette au? I live for it :')
Thank you so much! I'm so glad that you like them! And of course you can have some reverse adrinette. I live for them too heheh! Especially after the recent ep :)
AO3
“Your hair looks so beautiful down, Marinette.” Adrien grinned up at her from his desk, resting his cheek on his knuckles. His insides felt mushy, gooey even as he wondered what her reaction would be.
Would her arms flail about adorably? Would she stammer or stutter as her eyes darted about? Ooh, or would she finally... finally grant him another one of her lovely blushes? He was positively dying to see Marinette turn a pretty shade of pink... especially if he was the cause.
For a moment, Adrien thought she would grant him all three, and what a sight to behold that would have been. Instead, however, she simply gave him a cool smile and a sweet giggle that caused the gently fluttering butterflies to suddenly erupt in his chest.
“Thank you, Adrien. I’m glad you like it,” Marinette said, running her fingers through her long, dark hair.
He tracked the movement longingly, the hand that he wasn’t resting his cheek against twitching slightly as he ached to run his own fingers through her hair. Would it be as soft as it looked? It certainly seemed like it would be.
Adrien swallowed roughly, shifting in his seat as he noticed Marinette staring at him curiously. How long had he been watching her run her fingers through her hair? It didn’t matter. He just wanted to keep her talking... and maybe, just maybe, hear another giggle.
He gave her a shy grin before asking, “So are you planning on wearing it down more often, then?”
Marinette’s pink lips slowly parted, about to answer his question before a throat clearing behind him had him whirling around. It was Adrien’s turn to blush as he caught sight of Mlle. Bustier, one eyebrow raised as she looked down at him. “I’m sure the conversation you’re having with Marinette is lovely, Adrien, but I’d appreciate it if we could focus on the lesson.”
He turned an even darker shade of red as he was forcibly taken from Marinette’s brilliant, sparkling blue eyes, back to the classroom he was currently in as his fellow students snickered at him. Oh. He had practically forgotten that they were in school.
Scratching the back of his neck embarrassedly, Adrien ducked his head back into his notes. He snuck one last, quick peek back at Marinette just because he was already missing her. He heard Alya whisper something to her, nudging her arm as her eyes gleamed mischievously. Marinette simply shook her head with a soft smile, whispering something back to her best friend.
Before Adrien could get caught staring or, even worse, get called out by Mlle. Bustier once again, he quickly brought his attention back to his notes.
Surprisingly, he wasn’t feeling as embarrassed as he probably should have been. He was simply a boy in love. And didn’t that thought send another wave of butterflies fluttering in his chest? A grin spread across Adrien’s face as he slowly sketched a doodle of Marinette on his notes. How had it taken him so long to recognize his feelings for her?
That kiss at the wax museum had left him confused by the pleasant warmth that had bubbled inside him when her lips had briefly, too briefly in his opinion, caressed his. After all, he was supposed to be in love with Ladybug... wasn’t he? His heart shouldn’t be pounding in his chest by a different girl.
It had taken Kagami and another date with Marinette at that very same museum for him to realize that yes, his feelings for her were very much there. And simply remembering that brief kiss caused his lips to tingle and his heart to ache with the thought of doing that again. Hopefully, for much longer. And with both of them aware that he wasn’t a statue.
Adrien felt simply dizzy with pleasure and happiness as he imagined them curled up in her pink room, his hands running through her hair as they kissed over and over again. Wouldn’t that simply be the best thing ever? An elbow digging into his side snapped him out of his daydream. Snapping his eyes over to Nino, he saw a wide smirk on his best friend’s face. He nodded down at Adrien’s notebook, causing him to blink and look down at his notes. Pink dusted his cheeks as he saw the name Adrien Dupain-Cheng scrawled all over the margins in his handwriting.
“Dude, you’ve got it bad,” Nino mouthed, shaking his head at him before motioning his head back at Marinette.
Adrien’s blush turned even darker as a silly, dopey, lovesick grin spread across his face. Because, yes, he did have it bad.
He snuck another look back at Marinette and barely stopped the sigh from escaping him. Her tongue was stuck out of the corner of her mouth, her pencil scribbling furiously on her notes where he assumed she was paying better attention to their lecture than he was.
But how was he supposed to function when the most amazing girl was behind him? When all Adrien wanted to do was just tug her into his arms, and confess his feelings for her over and over? And maybe... just maybe he’d be allowed to kiss her and see if he still remembered the taste of her lips.
He felt another sharp dig into his side and whipped his gaze away from the girl he was probably staring at dreamily back to Nino again. A sheepish grin formed on Adrien’s face as his friend shook his head at him with an even wider smirk on his lips. “You look like a lovesick puppy,” his friend whispered.
Once again, Adrien nodded his head before running his finger over the name that he doodled in his journal. Adrien Dupain-Cheng. Didn’t that just sound absolutely wonderful? Looking back up at Nino, who pointedly watched him caress the name, Adrien softly said, “Probably because I am a lovesick puppy.”
Nino looked positively delighted by this confession, darting his eyes to Marinette and back again. He raised his eyebrows, asking a silent question that was practically obvious. With a small scoff, Adrien’s gaze was once again drawn to the girl who had stolen his heart before he brought it back to Nino and shyly nodded.
Yes, Marinette was the one who had turned him into a lovesick puppy. And, honestly, he was still shocked he hadn’t realized his feelings for her sooner. The fluttering in his chest hadn’t lessened in the slightest. Now, with the realization that Adrien really, truly, deeply loved her, he recognized that he felt the same way when she had fallen asleep on him on the Startrain, when she had stuck up for him on their trip to New York, and especially when she had kissed him in that wax museum.
Now, just how was he going to convince Marinette to kiss him again? For longer and even more often this time around. Adrien attempted to suppress a smile at that idea again, but he was pretty certain he failed. First things first, he had to get her to agree to go on a date with him.
The bell ringing startled him out of his stupor and he immediately whirled around, beaming up at Marinette once again. “Hi,” he said, lifting his hand up briefly in a wave.
“Hi?” she asked almost questioningly, her sapphire eyes blinking at him curiously as she slowly put her books back in her bag.
Adrien’s heart thundered loudly in his ears and his palms began to sweat as nervousness flooded through him. Flirting with Ladybug hadn’t been nearly this difficult. Licking his suddenly dry lips, he murmured, “I-I was wondering if you’d like to come with me to get André’s ice cream this weekend?”
Her lips parted slightly and he couldn’t stop his gaze from darting to it longingly before he looked back up at her eyes as quickly as he could. Marinette stole a quick glance at Alya almost nervously before she shifted on her feet. Clearing her throat, she gradually bobbed her head up and down before shooting him a smile that practically had him melting. “Sure,” she said finally, causing his heart to soar. “I’d love to hang out with you, Alya, and Nino if your father lets you join us this weekend.”
And, just as quickly as his hopes had soared, they came crashing back down again. Hesitantly, Adrien asked, “You, Alya, and Nino?”
“Yeah.” Marinette beamed, slinging her bag over her shoulder. “That’s what you meant, right? It’s been way too long since we’ve all hung out together.”
A small furrow formed between his brows. That was most definitely not what he had meant. He had meant just him and her... together. Sharing a sweetheart's ice cream on a date where he could confess his true feelings for her.
Adrien opened his mouth to tell her this when he felt her hand pat his shoulder lightly. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Adrien.” She gave him another sweet grin before sweeping out of the classroom, her best friend following after her with a gobsmacked expression on her face.
Suddenly, his despair at not being able to take her on a true date was wiped away as a goofy smile stretched across his lips. He raised his hand in a wave, calling after her rather dazedly, “See you tomorrow, Marinette.”
An arm was slugged across his shoulder as Nino snickered at him playfully, ruffling his hair. “My dude, you’ve got it so bad.”
“Shut up,” he muttered, even as his smile grew even larger. Tomorrow, he’d see her again tomorrow. And, if Adrien had his way, he’d see her every day after that too.

i have this silly little undeveloped au in my brain that's just like. tedependent but it's the sarah jane adventures. sort of. not literally in the doctor who universe necessarily but like. local intrepid reporter trent crimm investigating weird shit except the local neighborhood kids will not leave him alone.
i have so many thoughts about this but none of them are coherent enough for a proper fic i think:
i just think trent being good with kids, generally. go mentor figure trent! (what this has nothing to do with my thesis what do you mean)
trent, like sarah jane pre-series, having a sort of reputation in the neighborhood (or in general, since i'm also incorporating his actual canon vibes/story) as to being standoffish, aloof, cold, etc., and generally anti-social, keeping to himself. and as the kids keep dragging him into things kicking and screaming he might also be dragged kicking and screaming into a community <3
if his daughter is essentially luke does that mean he adopted her under Strange Alien-Related Circumstances? absolutely it does, yes.
see i've got two great ideas for ted/tedependent. on one hand, although in the context of SJA/nuwho i'm not so much one for sarah jane and the doctor as a Thing, ted playing the role of like. someone from trent's Mysterious Past who he won't talk about who set him on this path? someone who was kind and wonderful and changed his life but then--at least it feels like to him--abandoned him? someone who made him a better person--from doing whatever journalism he used to do to this--someone who he's still kinda in love with... but trent can no longer even really talk to......until he shows up again? that's some good shit, not gonna lie. although i'm jimmying that into a happy ending somehow, goddamn it.
ALTERNATIVELY. henry being one of the Neighborhood Kids (as if we're using "canon" kids, we've got limited options) and ted being an oblivious parent. trent is trying to get these kids to STOP POKING INTO DANGEROUS ALIEN NONSENSE PLEASE THIS IS HIS JOB PLEASE STOP BREAKING INTO HIS HOUSE but they're stubborn and smart and they may or may not have saved his life once or twice and oh GOD THIS IS SO IRRESPONSIBLE but he can't just TELL THESE RANDOM NEIGHBORS about ALIENS. but like anyway this just painful secret identity-esque nonsense where ted knows henry's taken a shine to that nice journalist down the street and his daughter but does NOT know that henry is getting into Shenanigans(TM). this could lead into all sorts of drama about, you know, his kid being in danger... or, alternatively, ted has worked with some unit/torchwood-esque place before and is like OHH you know what? this explains that time i thought i heard you speaking an alien language. cool, cool. and trents like. .....WHAT
etc. i'm not wording this well but i think you get the idea.
if you really really wanted to make it complicated you could do both, considering the doctor's whole thing--either a fob watch or a regeneration--but honestly, i don't want to do that, so i won't
some of the adults do definitely get involved though. keeley either clocks that shit right away or thinks she's clocked it but she's actually clocked something entirely different. she's like i know you're mi6 babe ;) and he. is not. meanwhile roy having ten freakouts in a row and then being like nvm i'm fine with this. (is not fine with this, but will be eventually). jamies like yeah aliens. everyone knows about those. and they're like what?? no they dont?? and so on.
is beard an alien? genuinely no one's sure. he's not telling.
HOLD ON can i give trent k-9???? can trent crimm get a robot dog?????? yes please i think he deserves a robot dog
also see the trickster episodes? bet you could do something real fucked up with those.
i feel like i had more when i started this post but i don't remember
this not well thought out at all and i have no idea where everyone would fit in
anyway my point is. trent crimm, intrepid journalist, running around trying to stop alien shenanigans while Those Meddling Kids keep following him around. trent crimm doin a little Breaking And Entering. scooby doo shit. and he has such an interesting mix of seeming suave and badass and then immediately doing something embarrassing. trent crimm--via shenanigans and also Those Meddling Kids dragging him into their lives (aka he tries to keep his distance SO badly and only is involved when dangerous shit is going down but like then it's all. child knocking on his door like IT'S AN EMERGENCY OPEN UP and hes like WHAT WHAT IS IT and theyre like can you help me with my homework :( and hes like. fuck. yeah fine what do you want help with. (some subjects he's very helpful on others he's VERY not) until they're like okay but you're coming to this bbq right. and he's like? no? and they're like you're coming to this bbq right. and so on) ANYWAY the point is they keep dragging him into their lives and now oops! trent actually knows his neighbors and has to go through the mortifying ordeal of being known. but that also means that when he gets badly hurt or sick he's used to the empty hospital room but now he actually gets people showing up and forcing baked goods on him and shit and i'm just feeling a lot of things about this extremely hypothetical au based on my already existing feelings about trent gaining a community in s3/post-canon,
wait does this mean trent gets sonic lipstick? HELL YEAH IT DOES

Miraculous Fic: Crushes and Antics
So, when I came to the next on my self-appointed list of random dialogue prompts, I quickly decided I was due to write a Miraculous fic. Way back forever ago, when we were still somewhere in Season 2, I was enamored with the idea of a Best Friend Swap AU. I know a couple people made posts about it, but my most recent search shows there's still not a lot of content for it. I've decided I wanna help change that, if only a little bit. Sooo here's my attempt at a Best Friend Swap with a little dash of Crush Swap in the lovesquare for funsies. (I have not read the others to avoid copying anyone.) ~*~
Crushes and Antics
Summary: Marinette corners Nino to interrogate him about his latest crush, but he’s not about to let her get away with that so easily. Cue typical BFF antics. Notes: AU Season 1 somewhere, probably; Best Friend Swap AU; Reverse Crush AU
Dialogue Prompt – “Care to join me for a bit?”
~*~ Read on Ao3
or
Nino was distracted enough that he was nearly startled when a slim arm slipped into his as he walked down the hall. Not that he had any real reason to be. Marinette hooking his arm with her own and dragging him off somewhere had been a common enough occurrence throughout their years of friendship.
She tugged him gently off-course, which was a shame as he had nearly gotten close enough to overhear what Alya and Adrien were talking about ahead of him. “Care to join me for a bit?” she questioned in a somewhat shady-sounding undertone.
“What? Dude, no!” Nino replied, immediately suspicious of his best friend’s intentions. He withdrew his arm from her clutches and took a precautionary step away from the girl.
“What?” Marinette echoed, giving him a perplexed look in response. “Why 'no'? Why are you so suspicious?”
“Why are you acting so suspicious?” he shot back.
She exaggeratedly rolled her eyes at him before unceremoniously grabbing his arm and dragging him into an empty classroom. Depositing him against the teacher’s desk, Marinette hopped up onto the desk across from him and gave him an expectant look. “Well?”
Nino frowned back at her. “Well, what?”
“Well, somebody obviously has a new crush he hasn’t told me about, and since you’ve been making up excuses to avoid talking after school…”
“Dude, I haven’t been avoiding you. I really have been busy the last couple of days,” the boy protested.
“Right,” Mari drawled skeptically. “Well, here we are. Now spill.”
Folding his arms over his chest, Nino met her gaze head-on. “You first.”
A bright flush spread across the girl’s face. “We aren’t talking about me, right now,” she told him primly.
“What even makes you think I have a crush in the first place, huh?” he tried. “Maybe you’re just projecting.”
“Remember the crush you used to have on me?”
It was Nino’s turn to blush a bit. “That was ages ago,” he protested. “We were, like, eight!”
“Surprisingly little has changed,” the raven-haired girl stated dryly.
“Yeah, well, at least now I know better than to crush on a mean girl like you,” retorted Nino, to which Marinette stuck out her tongue at him. Sighing, he rubbed a hand over the back of his neck and scuffed a toe against the carpet. “There’s not really much to say, Mari. Alya’s just… Well, she just seems kind of awesome, y’know? The way she stands up to Chloé and is so fearless whenever there’s an akuma. And she’s wicked smart, too. I just – I just think she’s pretty cool, is all.”
“Nino…” Marinette said softly, her expression verging on what he had long classified as her determined-mom-friend look. “That’s it. I’m going to help you come up with the perfect plan to confess to her!”
“Uh uh – no way!” countered Nino. “Your plans are always way too complicated.”
“They are not!”
“Are too!” he insisted. “Look, I’ll confess only if you do it first.”
Mari was suddenly doing a rather good impression of a tomato. “I said we weren’t talking about me, right now!”
“Oh, so you can meddle in my love life, but I can’t meddle in yours? Is that it?”
“It’s not the same thing, at all!”
“Okay, fine. Then I don’t wanna hear you going on and on about your crush, anymore,” he declared.
The girl gave an offended gasp. “I do not go on and on about him!”
“Really? ‘Cause I’m pretty sure I remember you going on about how green his eyes are, and you wonder if his eyes are really green? Or how strong and brave he is.”
“Shut up!” Mari exclaimed, somehow turning even redder as she jumped down from the desk and rushed to try to put a hand over Nino’s mouth. He fended her off, craning his head back to make it even harder for her to accomplish her goal.
“And let’s not forget about how witty he is!” Nino practically crowed, enjoying teasing his friend. “Oh, he’s got to be clever to think up so many puns and all that!”
“I said sto—”
They froze as the classroom door opened abruptly. The two teens must have made quite the tableau. Marinette leaned up against Nino, stretched up on her tip-toes, a wrist caught in one of his hands while the other arm simultaneously tried to evade his grip while finding a way to clap over his mouth. Meanwhile, Nino was half arched back over the desk, trying to twist away from his friend without releasing the hand he had caught in his grasp. His cap had been knocked off in the struggle and his glasses were askew.
“Ugh, gross, it’s you two again,” declared Chloé, staring at them from the doorway, her sycophant Sabrina peeking in over one of her shoulders. “Don’t you two ever stop being weird for, like, ten seconds?”
Nino and Marinette just stared back at her. Honestly, even if they had an explanation for their current positions, they wouldn’t waste it on Chloé. The spoiled girl would just make up whatever story she wanted, anyway.
“Whatever, I don’t have time for this,” the blonde decided, flouncing away and continuing down the hall. “Sabrina!”
“Coming!”
For a minute they continued staring at the now open door. Then they looked back at each other and were immediately reduced to laughter.
“‘Ugh, gross, it’s you two again!’” Nino mimicked in an exaggerated, high-pitched snooty impression of Chloé, causing Marinette to laugh so hard she started wheezing.
“Can you—” Mari began, having to stop because she’d started coughing for a moment before trying again. “Can you believe we actually used to be in-intimidated? By her?”
“‘Sa-BRI-na!’”
“Nino, stooo-op!”
The absurdity of the situation and their own antics finally passed and they managed to compose themselves again. This new school year sure had brought about a lot of changes for the duo – a lot of them for the better. It might turn out to be the best school year yet, even with Hawk Moth turning people into supervillains.
Linking an arm with his, Marinette led Nino out of the classroom and towards the stairs. “Are you able to come over today or are you busy again?”
“I am commitment free for the night, I just have to call my mom,” Nino told her. “So I totally have the rest of the day to help you figure out your confession to Char Noir.”
“I am not confessing to Chat Noir! It’s not happening.”
“Uh huh, sure, Mari-dude. Bet you anything you end up confessing before I do.”
Marinette responded with a harrumph, sticking her nose playfully in the air (and subsequently counting on Nino to keep her from tripping over her own two feet). “We’ll see,” she told him imperiously.
-End.
