how do we think kacy's apartment is gonna change now that lucy has officially moved in. i'm thinking lucy's a house plant person (she's got three on her desk) and likely the plants at her old place were suffering because she was rarely there so it'd be nice to see their place start to fill up with well cared for plants. (kate makes an excel spreadsheet with all the plants, lucy's name for them, and their watering schedule because she will Not be responsible for any plant deaths)

things will probably be a bit more messy, but kate still knows where everything is bc she's kate whistler so technically it's still organized!

in my mind, kate had a plant or two back in law school or dc, but she'd get too busy and they'd die so she stopped trying (ik she has plants in her apartment but let's pretend that the set isn't a fully furnished hotel for the sake of this lol), but it's much harder to put them aside and let them die when your girlfriend gives them names and or personalities (kate has definitely seen a sad lucy lamenting over her plant dying) so she definitely would be excel-ing and trying her best to get the routines down

for the most part though, lucy did mention that she thinks kate's good at decorating so i think she's still gonna let kate handle a lot of design choices. there's definitely still lucy all over the apartment though (a dallas cowboys cup here, her collection of watches there, her boot behind the couch clearly lmaooo)

definitely more photos around the apartment, on the fridge, and sticky notes (imo lucy seems the type to leave sticky notes behind like "thinking of you :)" or she uses them in general to keep track of appointments and shit while kate uses a calendar)

and i gotta say, after reading better off to stay, better off to say by nightshifted, im very attached to lucy having a hula girl bobblehead in her bathroom and migrating that over to kate's/their place

rewatching 2x02 and two things from that beginning kacy scene:

kate wanting to introduce lucy to her boss - cannot and will not get over that character trajectory for her

lucy deserves that sfm 😩 if only s1 lucy could see how far kate has come and all bc kate’s so fucking in love w her

the whole convo in general, it’s so short but you can see how much of a team they are within their relationship

anyways far be it for me to complain but the way they were in the first few eps of s2 was how i was expecting them to be in s3 and so far idt we’ve really gotten that

the writing and acting was so on point in this episode like something about "i want it to be because you want ME. Because you can't bear the idea of me subletting a condo three blocks away when I could be here," is so romantic what the hell. and all the shouting but not really shouting and not really fighting. And Kate passionately shouting back that of course she wants Lucy here! So Much! like she did not stutter! I felt like i was watching an anguished love confession in the rain LOL. We even got the big kiss at the end (sadly not in the rain)

okay i just rewatched that scene. and it is PEAK romance. lucy is being so fucking vulnerable!! thinking back to last season, i think one of lucy's biggest fears was that kate didn't really want /her/. i always got the feeling that lucy thought kate was out of her league and that the cara debacle confirmed for lucy that kate wasn't as into her as she was into kate. so then to see lucy take the leap of asking for what she wants and needs...i love it, i'm obsessed with it, i'm trying to carry that energy into my own life.

and then of course i loved how easily kate was like, um ya i fucking want you here!!! move in with me!!! i know kate can be painfully awkward at times but it's very cool to see how once she realized where lucy's head was at she was immediately affirming and loving.

and the kiss!!! i feel like i'm starting to take their kisses for granted but last season, @masterofnaps and i would chat before every episode and i'd be like this is the one, this is DEFINITELY the one where they kiss again. and then of course they didn't kiss until the last ep 😂😂 but that was a GOOD kiss. top 3 kacy kisses if you ask me.

I don’t have much coherent to say, but I just re-watched the Kacy scene on the beach and the way Kate looks Lucy in the eyes and gives her a tiny little head nod to signal it’s ok for Lucy to say “I think I have to do it” is just such subtle, but powerful and amazing acting.

Oh no I guess now I have to rewatch this scene. WHAT A CURSE.

I have been rewatching Kacy's scene in 1x20. I notice that at the beach Lucy was fine, well aside from the gay panic. Then she was mad at Kate being reckless, on top of that she found out the promotion. That made her angrier. And behind all that much anger equals same amount of LOVE😭😭

How can you not love Lucy for that? And I think a part of that is Yasmine being brilliant.

We all know Lucy loves Kate, everyone knows it but Kate until that "Because I loved you Kate." It seems like a perfect set up for that grand gesture in finale.

Listen. LisTEn. Yasmine has been doing such an amazing job, especially in the last handful of episodes. So has Tori, her mouth acting is *chef's kiss*. I've said this before and I'll say it again: we are very, very lucky that Kacy is made up of two of the very best actors on the show.

As for the finale, I'm hopeful! I think we'll get a reconciliation, but not something that feels forced or like an easy fix. I think they will kiss, but Lucy will be like, "I'm not ready to go all in yet". And Kate will understand and they will agree to try again but go about it slower and more carefully, rather than the whirlwinds of their first hookup and then their first try.

A bit late but I rewatched NCIS Hawaii 1x18 today and remembered my surprise seeing Special Agent Jessica Knight lmao I was like NYSSA IS THAT YOU????? Really giving me flashback to my DCTV era

ok i needed the emotional preparation before talking about the concept of jessica knight because it is still without question the absolute funniest thing that's ever happened to me. closely followed by me deciding to get invested in yet another ncis show and then getting a crossover with katrina law involved ❤️. never forget that one kacy fic i was reading and the author put in a bunch of nyssa references (ok like two but that's a lot for nyssa) and i was just having the time of my life there

also also there's one scene in the og ncis where jess fights a dude with a stick and i woke to a bunch of twitter screenshots my friend send me with people going hhhhhmmm that's a nyssa move what a funny world we live in

Little Kacy things I've noticed - 1x06

I think this is the first time we see Kate in pants at the office. Key feature being the pockets. Good place to shove your hands when you're a little off kilter (the conversation in Tennant's office started her way, but ended with her being more or less dismissed).

All of Lucy's expressions during that conversation. The way she looks at Kate.

Kate trying to cover being flustered in the elevator. Betting her hands were in her pockets again.

I'd bet good money that Kate knew Lucy was stalling from the beginning. She could do being misled to one room, but a wild goose chase was pushing it... Kate is unamused.

Kate being thrown for a loop by the date invite. Lucy: "A date! As friends... I really don't care at this point." Even though it was part of the stalling, I think Lucy really did just want to spend time with Kate.

I think Kate might have been a little hurt/offended that Lucy used their attraction to each other as part of the stalling... The fact that the room was empty didn't help things.

As mad as Kate was...

She hit the door open button in the elevator and was the first one to tell Kayla to answer the phone

Okay, I have a million thoughts about this so I'm going to try to trim it down as best I can.

I've been rewatching the show and all of their scenes take on an ENTIRELY different meaning now that I know they've been pining over each other for so long. But the biggest one to me is in the parking lot scene when Whistler says "It's not easy being the bad cop". The look on her face and the way she says it makes me feel like she's not just referring to the job. Like maybe at first Lucy agreed with the idea to not start anything but then as time went on and they had other encounters (there's no way that they didn't hookup at least 1 other time before the pilot) Lucy started hinting at maybe wanting more and Whistler was the one to shut it down because of the job. But now Whistler is finally admitting to Lucy that it's been hard for her to be the "bad cop" and to keep saying no to a relationship when they both totally know that they should be together.

Okay YES!!! I totally agree re-watching their scenes it's like I'm watching a whole new dynamic. You know that quote that's like, "Nothing in biology makes sense except in light of evolution?" I'm like, "Nothing about kacy makes sense except in light of this new backstory!!"

Lol I'm mostly kidding, but also it really puts their previous scenes into a whole new light. It's somehow so much more heart wrenching??? For me, three aspects of the show in particular stand out.

First, the scene in 1x02 where Lucy's like, I'm amazing and you're totally missing out. That one /stings/ when I watch now because there's this whole other layer of knowing that there was more between them than a simple one night stand. Second, the whole dynamic of 1x07 where Lucy thinks Kate is embarrassed to be with her and Kate's like, no I'm embarrassed by me. Those moments tugged at my little gay heart strings and they tug even harder now because now we know there's a whole history between them that makes these big emotions like embarrassment and shame suddenly make sense. Third, the fact that Lucy calls Kate "Whistler" makes soooo much more fucking sense. I know others have pointed this out already, but to underscore that point--Lucy met "Kate" and then later had to separate out (dare I say, compartmentalize) "Kate" and "Whistler," likely because Whistler requested it. That shit is heartbreaking omg </3

TL;DR I had always been a bit uncertain about /why/ there seemed to be so much depth between these two when, based on what we've seen in the show, they haven't interacted that much. But hearing the backstory from Lucy made me realize that there's a much longer and more involved history between them that goes back before the pilot and adds weight to all of their interactions.

Takeaways from the episode: Garage dad Jesse is 🔥🔥🔥! "I was looking at you. For you! At you. I'M GONNA TRY THIS AGAIN! *do not look directly at Kate!*" - gay panic Lucy is fun. 🙂 Whistler fights dirty in hand to hand & I'm ok with that; again though - WHAT IS HER SKILL BEYOND INTERROGRATION?! While staying with Kate was sweet it means Kacy can never work together day 2 day cuz Lucy can't prioritize. ☹️ STOP MAKING Kate SAD WRITERS & Lucy LET HER SPEAK ALREADY! 😭😭😭

i had to rewatch as my attention had to be diverted earlier but YES gay panic Lucy is fun so much so I repeated it a couple of times! Lol…

And yeah Kate fighting dirty is something I am definitely okay with… haha! Also I think she would’ve fought better had she not been caught off guard (or checked her blindspot). Her SAC did say Kate is a big gift for them and that they are lucky to have her, I’m positive we’ll see her other skills soon 😂

I think Lucy did the right thing, they got one of the suspects already, she was confident enough to believe the caught suspect would lead to finding the other suspect.

They are both sad which breaks me (even though I constantly laugh at their scenes together more than I ☹️) and hang in there, I’m sure Lucy will let her speak soon or be put in a situation where she has no choice but to listen 😆

Rewatching NCIS Hawaii scenes... 1x17 when Lucy tackles Ernie to stop him getting shot by Braddock. Kate is in the next scene do you think she saw it happen... thought it at the time when watching it but kept forgetting to raise it. Would be a good fic prompt either way.

not kacy related. i just finished rewatching 1x21 and noticed in the scene where ernie comes over with food to the lil tennants, he had a ring on his left ring finger. it’s most likely jason antoon forgot to take off his personal ring. but it was just a new unexpected thing. because in the next scene between ernie and lucy, he’s sans ring. and then lucy was asking him about potential little ernies running about out there 😂

Yeah I think it was definitely a case of Jason having forgotten to take it off 😆 but it does make me wonder about her life pre-NCIS:H

Kacy - Small Details From 1x09 Imposter

Earlier in Tennant's office, Lucy had been the one to say she knew someone who could help, meaning Kate. Kate's happy to help, even on what looks to be her day off.

In the records room, Lucy's nervous, which is adorable. Kate doesn't mind helping but she also knows Lucy's being weird.

"It's not a personal favor, your boss went through proper channels." That must also be a relief for Kate. Another reason to be happy to help.

And now I’m distracted by the thought of Kate doing personal favors for Lucy. FAVORS LIKE WHAT??? I could see that ranging from sort of off the books help with a case, to Personal personal favors (fun ones), to bail money…. Focus. Okay.

Kate points out two instances of her being a bit off, hoping Lucy will tell her what's up, but her confused looks are cute too.

Lucy: "I really can't thank you enough."

Kate: "All evidence to the contrary, you've been thanking me for the last twenty minutes."

Kate adorable incredulous look when Lucy apologizes again. She's being weird.

Lucy: "Sorry."

Kate: "And apologizing."

I have a feeling that while Kate brought it up, knowing that it's strange, she would have let it go as simple teasing if Lucy didn't want to talk about it right then.

Instead we get Lucy stumbling into "I want to be intimate" and that whole part is great.

When Lucy gets to the part about her brother Noah, we see Kate's reactions to talking about it.

Kate knows where Lucy is going and sort of braces herself and clench her jaw... (I got distracted by the jaw clench).

It's clearly still painful...

Lucy: "His younger sister was at Northwestern at the time, a rush chair for a Tri Delt..."

Kate: "I was a Theta."

Instead of slamming her walls back up though, Kate's able to smile.

Side Note: Aside from it meaning Kate was part of a sorority, I have no idea what rush chair for Tri Delt or being a Theta means... Can someone help me out there???

Oh, and from the little argument earlier, that's where the other promo photo comes from. We see Lucy's face as she sort of grapples for something to say.

"I know you like pinot grigio and mason jars for cups." Yeah that wasn't it. Lucy winces as Kate walked away. But the promo photo? Aww! Lucy's dejected face! That hurt me.

Little Kacy things I've noticed - 1x06... Continued

Okay, I am stalling on writing. I'm hoping to have the next two chapters of Ambition up before the new episode. Nearly done on Jealous Lucy, and have Kate and Lucy's first night together almost done too (it turned smutty). My biggest problem is trying to decide which one to focus on since I want them all magically done. Um, which do you wanna see first??? That might help...

So, I'm stalling for a moment and adding these two little bits from 1x06.

When Kate arrives in the parking lot, she's looking for her keys. Lucy doesn't say anything though, just stands there waiting for her... in an empty parking lot at night. That normally doesn't usually play out well in police procedural. It was either one of two things... maybe both? Kate's special agent sense was how she knew someone else was there even though she was doing something else. OR, she can simply sense Lucy. Thinking about it, I believe both.

Kate being open and honest about being the bad cop. She's used to people not liking her, not being happy to see her, and she just told Lucy how she's lucky with her team. Here though, she's sort of deflated. Being used to it doesn't make it easier. That heavy sigh. Feeling bad for Kate here! She needs a hug and a drink. Lucy knows what to say though. Calls Kate amazing, which she is, but probably needs to actually hear it more than once in a blue moon, you know? Then there's a drink offer, meaning that Kate at least has Lucy, and a kiss. Kisses always improve things.

Oh! Tori Anderson turns 33 today!!! Happy birthday Tori!!!
