A big thank you ❤️

I want to thank all of you who have sent sunflowers and a little sunshine to my inbox. I have no words to express how grateful I am to you. Monday was really a complicated day for me and my family, as my son was in surgery for a rhinoplasty, not cosmetic but due to a chronic problem with his deviated septum, which was giving him problems to breathe freely, especially at bedtime, and which resulted in constant fatigue and a congested nose that interfered with his work, which is mainly with his voice, as well as frequent throat infections due to sleeping with his mouth open, etc., and that was added to his seasonal allergies and rhinitis.

My son is already a young adult, he made his decision to do this procedure, but my husband, my daughter and I, as his family, were there by his side to give him all the support he needed, in every possible way. Thank heavens, the surgery, performed by an excellent physician, was successful, and my son is now at home recovering satisfactorily, accompanied and very well cared by us and his girlfriend.

Anyway, Monday and Tuesday were very stressful days, so imagine how beautiful it was to find all your sunflowers in my inbox, they really gave me a lot of comfort, and helped me to endure the scary moments, and to be in good spirits to help my son, who I am still taking care of here at home.

Really, thank you very much for all the love you sent. I would've liked to answer to each and every one of you in a more personal and extensive way, or drop sunflowers in your mailboxes myself, but it wasn't possible for me, so now, with this post, I want to give a big thank you to those of you who have been sending your love to me during these difficult days.

Please know that your blogs, and those of my mutuals in general, all of them, make me happy too, cause your stories are lovely, interesting, funny and a great inspiration for me.

hey, absolutely no disrespect meant here, but i noticed in one post you referred to yourself as a jew, and in another said you were censoring g-d out of respect to your family's jewish heritage, which you are exploring. amongst all this, you are clearly a christian. are you jewish or not? if you are not personally jewish, i really don't think you should be referring to yourself as a jew in a post where you claim christian theology (jesus being g-d) is true.

instead of sending me asks like this, can you maybe google what it means to be jewish, or what it means to be a jew? there is a wikipedia page about this. that way i don't i have to repeatedly unpack my generational trauma on the internet for (literally) thousands of strangers? the search function on my blog is broken- fine, but i have talked about this a lot, repeatedly, in the time i've had this blog, and it is not something i feel comfortable divulging openly. nor should i have to- nor should i have to worry about my identity being policed by strangers. this ask is worded with a certain tone of well-meaning authority, which is fine, i understand, and i am not mad at you, nor do i think you are trying to come across as harsh. i appreciate that you took the time to send this because it shows well-meaning concern. but this tone of authority comes from somewhere. where is it coming from? if you do not already know how i can be a jew and talk about christian theology, then you don't have the authority to question my identity, because questioning that means you must have no prior knowledge of the history of the jews whatsoever, about religious versus ethnic identity, the history of forced conversions to which jews have been subject, the necessity for religious and cultural assimilation, and so on.

whether you intend this or not- and i don't think you do, insomuch as i think you are genuinely well-meaning and don't want to harm or offend me personally- the wording of your question demands, implicitly, that i need to unpack both my personal ethnic and religious history, as well as that of my family. i am either lying about being a jew or i am not qualified to talk about my own identity because i must be christian, or i am not qualified to talk about christianity because im a jew. both of those things, being jewish and christian, of which i am both and neither because i am an ethnic jew who has not been baptized but studies christianity theology, are fraught with generational trauma and a certain concept of privilege, in the sense that a non-jew would never be asked to justify their connection to judaism versus their connection to christianity, because non-jews are not subjected to the same level of biopolicing that jews historically have been. a non-jew can move in and out of the spaces of judaism and christianity at will. whether i practice judaism or i practice christianity, whether i get a rhinoplasty or change my name, whether i censor g-d or type out the name in full, i will always be a jew. someone who is not ethnically jewish can convert to judaism from christianity and leave christianity behind in full, but i cannot opt out of being a jew, nor can any jew. centuries of ethnic cleansing have cemented this as fact.

if jewish people- who practice judaism or who are non-practicing ethnic jews- want to criticize what i talk about they are welcome to, but i have yet to encounter any jews who do, on or offline.

to make it clear again: i don't have a problem with you specifically, but i've had this blog for nearly six years, i have been studying theology for four of those years, and every so often i get a bunch of messages like this that parrot the exact same questions i get asked by other christians in my theology program that very, very genuinely can be answered by googling "what is a jew?" rather than telling me how i should refer to myself. and i am kinda tired of it! i am kinda tired.

“What the hell was THAT?” Riley smirked once both of you entered his hotel room

“What was what?” You scoffed, trying to play it cool as if nothing ever happened but failing miserably at it.

“That little scene at the lobby with the chick that asked for a picture” That taunting, annoying smirk was still plastered on his lips and gave no signs of leaving anytime soon.

The “scene” he was referring to was one that successfully turned your night into a sour little bitch.

You were used to fans flirting with him, sometimes the things they said even made you laugh, and you knew what you were signing up for when you got together, but that girl took it too far! One thing is flirting, another is harassing and if that bitch thought she could do that right in front of you, it was clear that she didn’t know you at all and you had no problems with introducing yourself properly.

When her touches began to get too intimate and uncalled for, Riley warned her once, twice and on the third time you stepped in, putting her in her place and almost giving her a free rhinoplasty with your fist.

“I’m already pissed enough, Riley. Don’t start with me” You warned as you began to pace around the room, taking off your boots, earrings and jewelry before deciding that a warm shower would help you get rid of this pent up adrenaline that still pumped through your veins.

“I’m not saying anything” He lifted his hands up in the air in a surrender motion “But I thought you were going to beat the shit out of her” and stated with a giggle

“I was, but she was wiser than I judged her to be, and to my surprise she left” You tossed your jacket on top of the armchair and began to undress yourself “I mean, the fucking nerve that bitch had. One thing is the hugging, kissing, screaming and dumb flirting now another is blunt harassment. And I’m not gonna accept that!”

“You know I’ve had way worse done to me, right?”

“Because I wasn’t there” You shrugged, making Riley laugh “I can’t believe I’ve lived long enough to watch my bunny - who doesn’t get bothered by anything nor anyone - almost get into a catfight because of me. Is it bad that I’m kinda flattered though?” He teased before standing up from the bed and following you into the bathroom, where you were about to take your makeup off.

“Riley” You warned one last time as you took the makeup remover wipes from the bathroom counter.

“What? I’m just saying that I almost told her to keep going just so I could see that feisty kitty inside of you come out”

“Oh, you liked what she was doing? You want her to keep going? Then you should go back to the lobby, I’m sure she’s still waiting for you downstairs! As a matter of fact, why don’t you just pack your shit and go with her? Make her your girlfriend or one night stand if you will, I don’t fucking care!”

His blue eyes were filled with lust and amusement as he mocked “Are you kicking me out of my own hotel room?”

“Shut up, I hate you. Fucking asshole” Your grunt was covered with anger, your hands tried to work smoothly enough so that you wouldn’t hurt yourself, but Riley’s presence and mockery only made it impossible “Can you leave? I’m trying to take this stupid makeup off”

“I’m not stopping you” He shrugged before placing himself behind you. His hands grabbed your hips and pulled you towards his body, gluing your back to his torso and making you well aware of the hardness between his legs. “You know this will give us a delicious, breathtaking, mind-blowing, hard, rough hatefuck later tonight, no?”

“The only thing you’ll be fucking tonight is your hand!” You pulled yourself away from his grip before spatting “Or even better, you can go on and chase your fucking ring rat to do whatever it is that you want to do” You returned to the bedroom to grab a fresh stack of clothes and much to your disgrace, Riley decided to follow you again.

“Fuck, bunny. You’re making me even harder for you” He adjusted himself in his joggers before hugging you from behind “Come help me, bun-bun.” Riley whispered in your ear “Come help your man get rid of this very painful hard on. Fuck, you’re so hot when you’re jealous”

“Don’t touch me! You have no right to touch me when you just mocked me for ten minutes straight!” You walked back towards the bathroom, trying to regain some space from Riley’s inebriating scent.

“C’mon, don’t be like that. You know I’m crazy for you” He pinned you against the sink and let his blue eyes meet yours in the mirror “I’ve never seen you like this before and it boosted my ego. Give me a break, will you? Let me enjoy it for a little bit” Riley chuckled as his hands caressed your curves “I like this possessive side of yours, is hot as fuck” His lips closed on the soft skin of your neck, leaving small, purple bruises behind.

“There was a bitch trying to fuck what’s mine! What the fuck should I do? Nothing?”

“Oh no, not at all! Fuck, you got me so turned on that I would let you do anything, bunny. Shit, if you pushed me down on the floor and begged me to fuck you I would in a fucking blink!”

“So I got you by the balls there, huh?” You chuckled before a faint moan escaped your lips at the feeling of Riley’s fingers rubbing your clit.

“Let’s go back to the bedroom then. I wanna ride you for hours” You whispered in his ear, and with a playful growl, Riley took you up in his arms and ran back to the bedroom as if his life depended on it.

its suuuuper interesting how u specifically brought up rhinoplasty as a “bad” plastic surgery bc my partner literally couldnt breathe through their nose before they got rhinoplasty and was suffocating in their sleep & their insurance refused to help them for over a year bc it was cosmetic but tell me more about how u think plastic surgery should be outlawed or whatever

I found your blog through other Dorne blogs/content on here and I have to say your takes on ASOIAF? You do not miss. That being said, I need to vent about the fandom's overall impression of Lasagna Stroganoff and how people are literally incapable of having a reasoned, critical analysis of this character because of fandom goggles. There are T*rg stans in one corner that don't even think she did anything wrong and jerk off to how much of a sexually liberated NLOG self-insert she was (lmao if I speak), and then you got St*rk/T*rg critical stans in another corner who, even after the show portrayal of her and the most obvious hints in the books that there was no kidnapping, refuse to assign any accountability for what she did, not even on a moral level and continuing on with this narrative that she was kidnapped, had no idea what she was doing, etc.. A lot of St*rk stans are committed to the St*rks being the moral center of the series and therefore they feel the need to defend/explain away any St*rk doing anything remotely amoral, which, ya know, running off with a married man with two babies at home is kind of the pinnacle of. Also, a lot of them are Jon fans who don't want to admit that the mother Jon has been hyping up in his head for five books was a douchebag lol. Whenever people try to critique her, no matter how milquetoast the critique is, there is always such pushback and anything that's not 'uwu Lieanna uwu....so willful and brave, and strong, and pushbacked against gender norms uwu' is seen as 'hate' like please spare me the thinkpieces.

The dark side to social media...

Just like every good thing to come out of the 21st century, it has a dark side. And no, I’m not talking about Anakin killing younglings or using the Death Star, I’m talking about the effects that social media has on its users. 

From cyberbullying to fake news, and body dysmorphia, the use of social media has changed the lives of younger generations in ways that were never seen before. Cyberbullying first peaked during the early-mid 2000s. I remember being in kindergarten and receiving anti-bullying presentations. I didn’t have any technological devices except my Vtech TV console that let me play in the jungle with Simba or build a fruit cake with Cinderella, and I didn’t know how to use the internet, but I knew that being mean to other people was not ok. As the years went on, I learned more about bullying and cyberbullying through tv shows, commercials, and the crime shows my mom would watch.  

Stopbullying.gov describes cyberbullying as, “bullying that takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets”. Cyberbullying includes sharing, posting, or sending content of another person that is negative, false, and/ or embarrassing. One report coming from over 10 European countries showed that 44% of children who were cyberbullied before the pandemic saw an increase in the rate at which they were bullied during lockdown (JRC 2021). I personally did not experience cyberbullying, but I did see firsthand what it did to my friends and family. Changes in mental health, self-esteem, depression, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts were all things I saw happen particularly in middle school. In 2022, 46% of teenagers aged 13-17 were bullied or harassed online at least once. A common reason for this occurrence was physical appearance (Pew Reasearch).  

This leads me to the next topic I want to shed light on: body image. With how integral social media is to daily living for almost everyone, developing body dysmorphia is more common than we think. The Toledo Center for Eating Disorders highlights the number one cause of body dysmorphia comes from: DISTORTED AND EDITED IMAGES. From filters to professional advertisements, people are knowingly and unknowingly viewing highly edited images. Almost all social media platforms allow users to take photos with their predownloaded filters. Snapchat is huge for its filters and was one of the first apps to have them within their system. From this the term “Snapchat dysmorphia” developed. Anyone can use apps like Facetune or Adobe Lightroom to edit their photos however they choose. More and more young people are getting rhinoplasty and breast augmentations all because they like the way a filter looks on them. One study showed that selfies were the reason for a 10% increase in nose jobs. The same study found that girls who spent more time on social media (Facebook) were likely to have a distorted self-image and an urge to lose weight (Vats M). 

With the dark side of social media, it takes a huge toll on mental health. Headspace says, “with mindfulness, we can learn to foucs on the good parts of social media and avoid the common pitfalls”. yes, there is absolutely nothing shameful about a person choosing to get cosmetic surgery. if it makes them feel better about themselves and is reasonable, let them be!

send some love to @evanpetersbuttocks who is on a hiatus now, but is a super lovely person who i've enjoyed. i'm tickled that she looks to be the original photo-gatherer of probably the best photo comparisons i came across. i think people have a hard time seeing the minor differences, because it isn't a dramatic change.
