Wayyyy back in January (wow), I spoke to early RTC photography Barbara Pedrick, & she told me some things about early cut characters (what she remembered) which included Noel being lonely & lost, Ocean changing the most & singing the Gospel Of Karl Marx, & Celine Stubel (Astrid Rosenberg) playing a tough, Norwegian exchange student.

For a bit, me and a few friends weren't SUPER sure she wasn't Ukrainian, UNTIL, a friend of mine (idk if their okay being tagged but if you're seeing this & would like 2 be tagged, tell me :) ) spotted a polar bear paw in a photo (that I don't think I'll be able to share, unfortunately, seeing as that'd be a friend of mine's to & not mine :( ).

So. Bam. She's Norwegian.

(I know a few of you have already theorised about this, I thought it'd be nice to know it's canon :) )

It is with pride I present to everyone the St. Cassian Catholic School 2009-2010 Yearbook!

I probably sound like a broken record to all of the artists, but one more time I want to thank everyone for their ideas, their art, and most importantly their patience. Over the last month I've gotten to know 17 (excluding myself haha) of the coolest people in this fandom, all of which are artists I've admired long before I posted the sign up sheets. I also want to thank everyone who signed up! All of you are amazing and I'm so so grateful you all liked my idea so much. It has been so, so awesome putting this project together, and I will forever cherish it as one of the most special things I've ever been a part of.

This event can include any type of media (writing, drawing, edits, etc.), and will take place from February 11th to 17th. The content can be platonic or romantic, but all work must star the female RTC members (this includes cut characters as well).

Nischa (Noel x Mischa): OTP, my beloveds, you can literally see how much I love them just by scrolling through the nischa tag on my blog

Spacedolls (Ricky x Jane/Penny): they're okay, they vibe together, I like it, they're like little skrunklies that I put in a cage and feed cookies to

Topcomment (Mischa x Ocean): pretty cool ship despite not me seeing much content for it, it's like good girl x bad boy, I'm sure there's people out there who really love it but for me? No, I don't like it. It's cool but just no.

Perfect love (ocean x hank): no, hank is already dating her cousin in some canonical iterations

Frenchrap/Norey (noel x corey): I love them, they're the kind of couple to be MESSY. THE DRAMA. Comedic fr fr (helps that this is technically a predecessor to nischa)

Rap Dolls (Mischa x Jane/Penny): I kinda also don't see potential with this, they're more like chaotic siblings in my eyes tbh but if you ship them, good on you

One interesting thing I’ve noticed, having been into Ride the Cyclone (specifically its cut characters / production hell) since around late 2021:

There is no actual source backing the claim that Astrid is Ukrainian.

No, seriously. As far as we know, it’s fanon. It was added to the Wikipedia page, but there’s no actual textual sources, no reviews of productions from 2008-9, no confirmation from any actors. Everyone just kind of accepted it.

Here are my two cents (or loonies, as it were):

-“Astrid” is by no means a Ukrainian name, and is actually a distinctly Scandinavian name of Old Norse origin.

-In a few of the available photos of her song, a painted backdrop is visible. It features natural scenery, notably ice-capped mountains, glaciers, and water— possibly a fjord.

-If the commonly-spread piece of lore that she’s a metal fan also proves to be true, this is another tie to Scandinavia.

Astrid…likely isn’t Ukrainian. All things considered, she’s probably Nordic.
