The bandages to her forearm are fresh, changed regularly since her interaction with a patient who might have just gotten scared by being in such an environment; a note to self - don’t keep any sharp objects near patients of concern.

     “It was just a scratch.” one that required stitches.

“  and why should i not be?  ”    she replies, the ghost of a teasing smile on her lips. in truth, though, she knows he is right. this is far from her usual milieu. but sometimes - whether she’d have chosen it or no - she finds herself dragged by a friend to a different entertainment than the she made her own trade in. and tonight, that meant a fight. but, all the same, there is a glint of amusement in her eye when she greets the man. his reputation precedes him, of course. one brow lifts in challenge.    “  you believe, i suppose, that i don’t have the stomach for all of this?  ”

There's always something needing to be done: Weapons maintenance, food preparation, and generally remaining out of the way of the fighter's that make their home at the ludus. It's honest work, difficult, but there's something exciting to be had for Laera when submerged in the thick of combatants. As an observer, witnessing their progress and knowing it would ultimately culminate when they stood on display for a sea of spectators... The stories she's heard in passing are a poor substitute for seeing it in person, and being in their company is the closest she's ever come to witnessing it for herself. 

To some degree, she admires them -- their dedication, their skill -- and while there's an itch in her hands to wield a sword of her own, Laera is content enough to simply be. ❝ Can I 'elp you with anything? ❞ Laera asks, her hands folded at her front as she makes an attempt to be useful to someone.

“You were.” Harwin says bluntly and quickly. He knew what his word meant, the weight behind it when he gave it. The man was not one to play politics or sneaky devious games with others. He preferred to be straight forward and deal with his problems that way. And of course that meant problems his allies, friends, and family faced as well. Of course that fell into even proving that he was not someone who took such words lightly. “I know not many follow their word or are as open and honest, but I find myself among the few who keep their word and mean it.” Harwin adds with his reply as he looks the other over for a moment and sheaths his sword at his side. “Now, I believes that shows you we are on the same side, yes?” He questions, now moving to rest his hand atop the pommel with one hand and on top of the belt with the other.

While there exists some sense of intrigue within the character of the warrior whose sovereign is willing to reward with his own palatial possessions, the young Celt finds little interest in becoming a part of those bestowed properties. As degrading as it had been to be bathed by the scornful hands of Roman women, as though he didn't know how to properly wash himself, they had forced him to don their ridiculous tunic as well.

His gilded countenance is coloured by a tinge of ferocity which only enhances his beauty, as he is left to ‘greet’ his newly appointed master, all vast, endlessly blue eyes and untamable waves of aureate hair. Although he is meant to serve, the refined, yet stubborn curve of his chin is held high as he regards the other man, his appraising gaze refusing to sway from the other’s, much like a wild beast whose lair has been intruded upon by a wandering soul.
