Sometimes you have to go on a spiritual retreat to Pray, Meditate, get your mind right and connect with your passed relatives and ancestors. There is beauty in our roots. Sometimes we think our roots are shameful, and people tell you that you're no good or your ancestors are no good or that you come from a neighborhood of no hope and terrible crime. But it's about the beauty of those places, and I carry that with me. In many ways, each of us is the sum total of what our ancestors were. The virtues they had may be our virtues, their strengths our strengths, and, in a way, their challenges could be our challenges. When we censor our history by disguising our scars, we belittle this process and the struggles our ancestors fought so hard to overcome. America doesn't cower behind political correctness. It defiantly and courageously moves forward, with its history as a reminder of where we have been. This past week has been very challenging for me to get through. I asked the universe why bad things happen and I was given no explanation. I thought nothing that happens is fair to me. Alot people think a dog is a dog but in no way is that true I lost my bestfriend on a Tuesday morning without warning or any signs that could possibly prepare me for this tragedy. Sure Dexter was four legged and had fur but that didnt make him less of anything he was a dog I did everything with and took everywhere. And just like that in a split of a second he was gone. 1 year and 4 months old, now im no dog years expert but i think both in dog and human years he was taken to soon. I’ve asked the million dollar question before “why do bad things happen?”, I didnt recieve an answer the first time either.

But here’s my perception on tragedy. Nothing happens for a reason, there’s always a fault and a bad judgement call that was made for it to happen. I dont believe there was a greater force that felt the need to come and mess up my life. Tragedy happens when were to comfortable when we think life is perfect and nothing can go wrong is when  we ourselves become careless, when we feel content is when were less aware.

A new years resolution of mine is to never think anything could happen to me. When I hear of a situation that happened to someone I will learn from them and make damn sure it wont happen to me. I will learn from my past mistakes and these tragedies that were put in my life. I will live my life to the fullest but never be comfortable I wont expect the worse but I certainly will be looking out for it.

2015 I am so done with you. I welcome 2016 with open arms and hope it will be a much better year.
