robby could hear the disappointed groans from the students of miyagi do when the ref raised his hand, declaring him the winner on this round. they were almost louder than the cheers from his own dojo, but the most he could focus on was you.

he knew the lack of eye contact throughout the entire tournament was warranted. he screwed up and you both knew that.

he guessed he never thought he’d see a day where you weren’t on his team anymore.

it was always you two being the other’s biggest fan. there was no robby if there wasn’t you and it was the same vice versa: to think it was something he’d grown sick of hearing over the years.

but as the keene boy watched you give demetri that same teeth-rooting, sugar sweet smile he’d received numerous times for nothing but spending time with you, he couldn’t help but want it back.

he wanted everyone to comment on how you always spent every second of free time you had together.

he wanted to listen to you rant about the people that had gotten on your nerves at school that day. hell, robby didn’t even go to the same one and yet he knew more about them than their own parents probably did.

he wanted to celebrate this win just like he might’ve celebrated other wins - or losses. it never mattered to you because you would always make sure he knew how amazing he was anyway.

he wanted you.

but that wouldn’t happen now.

you were happy. if there was any emotion robby could pick up from you, it was that. it radiated from you like beams from the sun and who was he to get in the way of it?

“Mmm, what are you making?” I asked as I walked into Johnny’s apartment to see Robby cooking something in the kitchen. Johnny and Carmen were out with Daniel and Amanda, so Robby and I had the apartment to ourselves. I walked up behind him and circled my arms around his waist, leaning into him. “Smells good.”

“Just spaghetti,” he laughed, turning his head to leave a kiss on the side of your face. I hid my face in his neck afterward, so he just turned his attention back to the pot of sauce. He collected a little on the spoon before holding it up to my lips. “Taste test?”

“Don’t mind if I do. I’m starving,’ I chuckled before going to try it. Immediately I turned and spit it into my hand, coughing. “Holy crap, Robby!”

“What? Am I that bad at cooking?” He asked, worriedly, turning to face me as I continued coughing and spitting into the sink. Abandoning the sauce, he walked over to hold my hair back. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s so fucking salty, babe!” I laughed as I rinsed my mouth with water before turning to face him. He winced at the statement and wrapped his arms around my waist. “How much salt did you put in that?”

“The recipe said a tablespoon, so that’s what I put,” He explained.

“Teaspoon or tablespoon?” I clarified.

“What’s the difference?” He responded.

“You’re joking right?” I laughed, but he just shook his head, looking more confused than ever. “Tablespoons are like three times the amount of teaspoons!”

“Oh,” he said, looking down. “Oops?”
