ppl talk about how annoying as a chipp fan it is to see the same drug or colonizer joke 500 times (and i agree. it fucking sucks.) but NO ONE talks about how annoying it is to see the same fucking robo-ky sexual harassment joke. and i get it. thats what it did in the accent core plus story I FUCKING GET IT. (srry im so mad rn) i played the story. that shit is literally like one of the first thigns i saw of it.

i think there are also layers to the way it interacts with characters that makes it less just harr harr sexual harassment and just that it doesnt know how to socialize WOW i see myself in this silly robot. (nnnot saying that i harrassed ppl wow i cant believe i feel i need to clarify this.)

Does Robo see other robots (the non-automatic intelligent ones) as kin? Like how we view other primates? Or does he see himself as a person and those other robots as things?

Good question.

I suppose it's a matter of complexity and intention. Helsingard's autosoldats are "closer" to Robo than car factory robots, for example, but I don't think he feels any kinship toward either.

Edison's flunky robot never speaks and wears no clothes so the audience has no trouble understanding that it isn't Robo's "level" even though it clearly understands natural human language and can improvise novel strategies and even choose to wear a hat! It may as well have been a clever gorilla — nothing about the story would change. It doesn't even strike Robo as odd to be fighting another robot.

But then Robo meets ALAN and clearly sees something of himself in there. Or at least something familiar. I think when Robo says, "You could have helped them," that was the moment he realized any sense of kinship he may have held for ALAN was just an illusion. That was the first time he really met something "like" himself and it was nothing like him after all.

Robo absolutely views himself as a person. He's never had the Lt. Cmdr. Data-like yearning to be "human." It wouldn't make sense. He's already a person like everyone else. The fact that he's a mechanical one is just an accident of birth.
