various (incomplete) writings for my versions of the Daycare Attendant, Moony and Sunny

(reference, shown without their ribbons/bells bc Oops lol)

KIDS ASK THE DARNDEST THINGS :)

“Sunny?”

“Yes, brightshine?”

“How do you work?”

Sunny paused and blinked down at the inquisitive little girl at his side. “How do I work?”

“Yeah; you’re a robot, right?”

“Uh huh!”

“So how do you work?”

Sunny giggled, squatted down to her level, and whimsically bloomed his turquoise-tipped fingers like flower petals before her face. “I’m made of what engineers call magic!”

She giggled loudly. “No you’re not!” she brashly accused through her big grin, drawing shocked body language out of the animated machine so overt and silly that the sight only made her squeal in amusement. “You’re a computer!”

“I’m a computer?!” Sunny gasped, clutching the lunar-themed sensor on his chest. “What?! Really??”

“Hehe, YEAH!”

“Nobody told ME that!! Oh, NO! I thought I was a ROBOT!!” the caretaker wailed, dropping right off his haunches and onto the floor with a plop. His hood went boof ‘round his head in response to the hard and sudden impact, the sight of which sent the child into another giggly fit. “You mean I’ve been LIED TO??”

The histrionics were starting to draw attention from the other kids and one of the adult handlers. Curiosity had them wandering over to see what the fuss was about, while Sunny continued to cartoonishly mourn, “I’m really NOT magic??”

“Noooo, you’re magic! You’re magic!” a couple children chimed in, rushing to console the robot. “She’s lying! You’re magic!”

“Oh, I don’t know what to believe!” The Attendant dropped his flat face into his hands, the little ones patting his shoulders and flinging themselves upon him in comfort. “They told me I’m magic, but— but if I’m a computer—“

A boy piped up, projecting his voice over the din. “Computers are magic!” 

Sunny dropped his hands and looked hopefully to the boy at his right. “Yeah? You promise??”

“Of course!” the outspoken six-year-old declared with all the confidence in the world. “You don’t even LOOK like a computer!”

A chorus of voices began to agree, prompting Sunny give a great sigh of relief, his body lifting and folding like a coiled spring. “WHEW! Wow! I guess you’re right; I sure don’t! I’m shaped like a human, not a box.. is that right?”

“YEAH! You don’t look like a box! You look like a human!” the children enthusiastically concurred, their various validations overlapping. 

“Well!” their playtime friend said, starting to get to his feet, “Hearing that, I feel a whole lot better—“

“But you’re a COMPUTER!” the girl from afore insisted, just as he was almost at full height. “You’re made of all metal!”

Sunny’s immobile face seemed to gawk. “I’m made of all METAL?!” Flying his pretty bicolored hands to his hood, the animatronic proceeded to clutch the excessive fabric umbrella with no small amount of turmoil, tugging on it as he once again let out a dramatic wail. “Oh, NO!!” 

The clamor of giggles and shouts became auditory mashed potato whilst their devoted carer sank to the floor all over again. Sunny was quickly mauled by their excited, worried hands, his distraught suffocated in the children’s wholesome attempts to hug the problem all better. He happily played along of course, welcoming their consolations with literal open arms and kind words. 

His children - his little Sundrops - were so sweet. 

But a bit of trouble was brewing on the sidelines. A small tiff was beginning to break out between the innocent instigator and the boy who’d challenged her. To the rescue today was Assistant Charlene, already kneeling between them to de-escalate and try to help them talk it out, to some marginal success.

NESTING TIME 🥺

Kassim watched Moony soar from one silken drape to the next with elegance and grace. He likened the robot to Tarzan - if Tarzan were a ballerina. It was after hours, and his shift had ended half an hour ago. Moony would begin patrols in two hours, but for now, he was collecting. 

The embodiment of the great Northern Lights swooped down from his sky. Five glowing fingertips nabbed an overstuffed fringe pillow from the security desk, then the animatronic scaled the cloth rope again, making away for the tented tower on the other side of the room. 

“Whatcha doin’, Moony?” called out his assistant. 

There was a response, but Kassim couldn’t hear it. That was the problem with Moony: he was so hard to hear. Programming dictated his volume control auto-set to a whisper, which was appropriate for a nap time caretaker; however, it did mean that trying to have a conversation with him without being in close proximity could be difficult. 

He had to wait. Sure enough, Moony returned, and lowered himself down to Kassim’s level. “Nesting,” he softly spoke. The young man peered into Moony’s swirly purple eye. 

“Nesting?”

“Nesting.”

“You’re building a nest?”

“Yes.”

His face scrunched confusion. “Wh.. why?”

“Shouldn’t you be going home?”

Kassim smirked. “Why are you evading the question?”

The purple cyclone rolled in its socket. He was sure Moony would’ve stuck out his tongue if he could, or had one. “Because we like to rest,” Moony lightly snipped, folding his arms. “I know you don’t possibly get it, but we like to nest together.”

Kassim sure didn’t get how a single bot could “nest together” with essentially itself, but he went off the remark anyhow. "

How complex are Van and Viv's physiology? Like, do they have positronic brains and intricate internal systems, or are they made only for basic movements and thoughts only complex enough to pass as humanoid? Sorry for the odd question, I just really love robolore 😅

they’ve got very complex AI and CPU systems. they act very convincingly human-like, although they also have machine-like tendencies (like short-circuiting and overheating and stuff)

DAYCARE ATTENDANT “SUNNY” (A.I.): MALFUNCTION WEAR + SHELL MALFUNCTION SHOWCASE

The Daycare Attendant of Freddy Fazbear’s PizzaPlex is designed with a project screen shell that allows the Attendant to change its pre-programmed colors to reflect statuses, modes, and A.I. change. Sometimes its programming will malfunction, resulting in a vast variety of possible types ranging in potentially serious and requiring immediate maintenance, or simply aesthetic inconsistencies.

When this occurs, “malfunction jackets and gloves” for the purpose of concealing the error MUST be worn until the Daycare Attendant unit can be reset or disabled for maintenance. 

***OBSERVING TECHS PLEASE NOTE*** that these are only a small pool of possible, and/or recorded malfunction examples. SHOWCASE DOES NOT INCLUDE THE “ECLIPSE” MALFUNCTION. JUNIOR TECHS ARE STRONGLY ADVISED NOT TO PURSUE LINE OF QUESTION CONCERNING THE “ECLIPSE” MALFUNCTION TYPE WITH ANY SENIOR TECH. Failure to follow this rule will result in reprimand and a strike on your record.

When the Daycare Attendant’s outer shell (exoskeleton) malfunctions, assistants are to PROMPTLY outfit the unit in the provided jacket and attached gloves. The jacket is dyed in a gradient of peach and yellow to mimic the A.I.’s (“Sunny”) default projection. There are TWO OPENINGS in EACH SLEEVE in which to thread the ribbons and attached bells (NOT SHOWN ON EXAMPLES) and wrap around the ball joint elbow. To activate the turquoise fingertips on the glove, there is a press-button switch located at the BACK of the jacket’s collar.

***ACTIVATE ALL LIGHTS FIRST, BEFORE ASSISTING THE DAYCARE ATTENDANT UNIT WITH FITTING JACKET AND GLOVES***

Assist the Daycare Unit by holding the jacket behind the unit to allow it to slide its arms through the sleeves and onto the shoulders. Secure the magnet clasps to the designated corners located AROUND the LUNAR-SHAPED LIGHT SENSOR, located on the Attendant’s chest.

LUNAR AND SOLAR ECLIPSE MALFUNCTIONS: CONCEPT ART

ok so!! Moony and Sunny's Eclipse(s) are categorized as malfunctions. it occurs when the DCA unit becomes overstimulated, stressed, overly emotional/angry, or provoked by either outside sources or internal error/A.I.. (as in, Sunny bothering/upsetting Moony during lights off) OR, if an A.I. tries to be more present through the currently present A.I..

for example: Moony trying to talk through Sunny during lights on, when he shouldn't be able to speak or have any sort of control over Sunny whether it be through voice or body manipulation. they can allow each other to sort of chime in now and then, but a continued effort or fight over control when they're not programmed to (Moony during lights on, Sunny during lights off, etc), can cause an Eclipse Malfunction.

there are two variants, of course: Lunar and Solar. the way i've thought it working for them is that what TYPE of eclipse it is is determined by who's currently active at the time: if Sunny is active, it's a solar; if Moony is active, it's a lunar. makes sense, seems obvious, right?

yeah, but hold the phone. the reason why an Eclipse occurs is due to extreme stress/upset in both of them, at once. it takes two to Eclipse, but the one who is INACTIVE at the time (aka Moony when the light is on, and Sunny when the light is off) been observed to ultimately be the "deciding factor" in whether or not an Eclipse takes place. oddly enough in those situations, the "dormant" one is more influential, or more powerful than the A.I. that's "awake". (something something about "inner turmoil", etc)

it's to note too that an Eclipse can even sometimes be seen as an overthrow attempt, and the A.I.s are literally fighting each other with the "active" one willingly initiating an Eclipse in order to shut them both down. think of it as using an Eclipse as a preventive or safety measure against further harm of each other/themselves (internally or externally), or others. (which is to also say that while these "orchestrated" Eclipse measures would do less damage to their system because they're doing it "consciously" so to speak, it STILL does damage, but less than a "natural" Eclipse would. if. if that makes sense. help)

the important bit: there are variables to an Eclipse, including partial-Eclipses.

because an Eclipse is a malfunction through and through, it corrupts data/programming for the DCA unit and causes some REAL rough harm on even the total robot body. their team would really REALLY like to understand it more, but due to the delicate nature and trouble an actual Eclipse does to the unit, and in order to study it more the team would need to provoke Sunny and Moony into doing it, and so it's just.. messy.

there is an "Eclipse blanket" in the Daycare for Assistant staff to use when/if an Eclipse takes place. the idea is to throw the blanket over the DCA unit whether Sunny or Moony (even if it's Moony and despite his functions being programmed for lights-out) and encase them in total darkness, and essentially shutting them down. but this needs to be done, first and foremost, because the Eclipse malfunctions for each are bright - and i mean, BRIGHT. they WILL cause damage to eyes and they are most often accompanied by some hell-noise right out of 90s dialup sounds, but Worse LOL.

doing some character/world development for my Daycare Attendant!! sorry for length, illegibility, and total mess of an arrangement, i very RARELY do comics so format is not my forte, LOL (but i do hope people can still read/get the gist!!)

tl;dr:

Sunny is afraid of heights; Moony has to save him

Moony is afraid of the floor; Sunny has to save him

Sunny touches the floor aaaaaand malfunction time. maintenance is called. playtime resumes :)

old old art but this was doing some personality conceptualizing (wherein Moony is being A Jerk and playing Key Keepaway with Sunny, who HATES heights) and recently i've been thinking abt what if those two got their own bodies

and y'know. you'd never get Moony down from the silks ever again LMAO you'd have to remotely put him on sleep mode and neither are gonna like that very much

(CONTEXT: while Same Body/Same Robot, there's a personality glitch in each AI. Sunny loves being on the floor, but really, REALLY dislikes climbing any higher than one tier of the playgyms, and is generally afraid of heights.

but on the other hand (or AI, ha), Moony HATES being on the floor, and is even afraid of it!! it makes for quite the comedic scramble both ways for either the floor or the silks when they change.

which is why the picture above is SUCH a Dick Move on Moony's part, LOL)

but with Moony always up in the silks, he's literally got one of the best views of the entire nest, the whole Daycare, which is super great. even the outside!! he can see parents come in, monitor birthday parties or passerbys, etc etc. and he can also play and swing with the kids whenever :) (there are many silk "stations" and they can be manipulated and lowered as he needs)

though they would just be REALLY REALLY CUTE all the time with Moony soaring/"swimming"/gliding/chilling in the air/etc keeping watch and also coming down for a chat or a hug or whatnot. helping out. helping clean up. Causing Problems™️. getting robot kisses from Sunny. The Works©️™️

tho ofc this would also constitute a total appearance re-haul LMAO. they won't have need for the hood to hide the other/inactive side of the face, and they wouldn't need the light sensors on their chests anymore. they could keep them (or swap them, so the lunar sensor is on Moony and the sunbeam is on Sunny now) for decoration, but. Who Knows. Who's To Say

we just know Fazbear Entertainment wouldn't reaaaallly be down with spending all that money on new Daycare Attendant robots when the singular persona-changing one works just fine, haha, right?

What kinds of candies do they carry? Does sun have diff candies compared to moon?

absolutely!! :)

both the Moondrop and Sundrop candy varieties come in hard and gummy!

Moondrop hard candies are a slow-release of a low child dose of all-natural melatonin, while the gummies are faster acting, but contain the same dosage. both hard and gummy candies come in two flavors: blueberry, and mixed berry :)

Moondrop gummies are smaller than their hard candy counterpart, uncoated, and have a denser texture.

Sundrop candies do NOT have caffeine for that energizing burst, but pack a good sweet punch that feels just the same! their pop-rock candy center sure helps trick the brain into believing it too ;)

Sundrop gummies are uncoated and smooth, with a soft, springy texture.

unlike Moondrops, Sundrops (both hard and gummy) come in four flavors:

strawberry

cherry

orange 

lemon

and you'll know which flavor you're getting by the color of the sun on the package! (pictured: orange; cherry)

MOONY PATROL + EMERGENCY SETTINGS

for context: this Daycare Attendant’s shell is a projection screen, which allows the Attendant multiple settings and colorations (including, of course, the switch between Sunny and Moony :3c)

L - R:

DEFAULT PATROL MODE: Moony’s Northern Lights simulation is replaced by a deep, deep purple. this makes him a little harder to spot up in the curtains, though there are other parts of him that glow (such as his pants and eye, though the middle of his light sensor doesn’t; it’s just simply rly bright LOL - however, the “rays” around the sensor are also affected by his various light settings)

STARRY NIGHT: what’s on the tin, boss! it’s just pretty :) he’s been known to switch out the default Northern Lights for Starry Night during Daycare hours, every now and then. sometimes the Aurora can be overstimulating for the kiddos.

MEDICAL ALERT (PROGRAMMED ALSO IN SUNNY): also what’s on the tin! the glow is VERY bright (though he has the capability to lower/adjust the brightness on it as necessary; it initially is very bright for attention purposes, but it’s a case-by-case basis, because he doesn’t want to further aggravate a medical emergency such as seizures). 

there is also prerecorded/programmed alert dialogue that overrides his default whisper volume when the alert takes place.

it occurred to me that since Moony doesn’t use cables, how is he going to 1. patrol 2. avoid the Dreadful Floor Monster when he goes out on patrols in the PizzaPlex???

why..... decorative ceiling drapes, of course!!!!

ok so.....

people being people, they like to try to throw things up into the drapes, so Moony finds stuff in his drapes/hammocks now and then. he’s been collecting (and begrudgingly returning some to lost and found if Sunny gets on his case enough >:\ ugh, stop it with your morals) fun things for awhile..

.. but so has Monty, on the ground floor! they’ve got a trade system going!! they trade their trinkets for favors and for other items. (Monty’s also been trying to get a date with Sunny for awhile now, but also hates the fact that if he tries to date Sunny, he ALSO is technically dating Moony too and Ugh >:E yuck. (he also doesn’t know Sunny and Moony are A Bonded Pair Do Not Separate, but shhh, what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him.....) )

so some fun time WIPs while i figure out my tweaks for the PizzaPlex and also overall development!! (grats to Monty for being the first other animatronic i’ve tried to draw, blessings and good tidings)

i also spent half the day drawing Moondrop and Sundrop candies and figuring lore for that, so stay tuned.....

their eyes are also projections like their shells, so they’re bound to get wonky. slot machines eyes are the worst :\ Sunny seems kinda prone to them and he hates it so much thanks <3

as i pull together references for Moony and Sunny, i had to have their hands done. and i also needed their hands for their Malfunction Gloves!!

a couple notes about their hands:

those are grip pads on their palms and fingertips! the fingertip grips (say that 5 times fast) are translucent for a better look when they change color, whereas a solid, neutral color on the palm was fine enough for the development team. 

the grip pads are to assist with everyday needs, but mostly was for Moony in using the aerial silks, as in this version of the PizzaPlex, there are no cables...... only curtains.

(the colors on their arms are not meant to be solid like that, but for now, it’ll do! LOL. Moony has a Northern Lights simulation going on on default)

chinhands. maybe i should reverse the coloration for the Eclipse malfunction for Sunny and Moony. bc if it’s the “inactive” A.I. that is the most influential to whether or not an Eclipse takes place. then it’d only make more sense to reverse the colors. like. if it’s gonna be a Lunar Eclipse, Sunny will be active/lights on but because Moony is “taking over” then Sunny will turn red like a blood moon/Lunar eclipse. which means Moony will black/white eclipse when Sunny takes over from inside.
