I took that little trail behind that small brick building that's falling down.

And as I passed it, I tried to imagine the lives lived there through the holes in the doors as I heard my mother's voice from 10 years ago in my head, warning me about the roof that could collapse at any moment.

And I walked past that small brick building and continued on the trail.

I looked at the flowers blooming around me. The smell was thick and too sweet.

I kept going on the trail and came to a railwaytrack. And I ran over it with my father's voice in my head warning me not to.

And I kept going on the trail and I crawled under the bushes that were growing over it as I listened to an old voice of mine giggling about it in my head.

And I continued on the trail until it ended near a graveyard. And I sat on the rockfence surrounding it and I played a song because I could hear no one in my head.

Another property to protect biodiversity in North Georgia, The Barn Group hopes to conserve this year! A rocky headwater stream with a mature hardwood forested buffer runs through it. Headwater streams are critical to biodiversity. The Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (PARC) states the maintenance of forested buffers to reduce light infiltration, sedimentation, and nutrient loading is necessary to maximize compatibility of working lands and biodiversity.
