Day 30: Post retirement quote/moment

Firstly, woopie we made it to the end!! Also.. how is it MAY??? Time is going too fast😖. So anyway, thanks for sticking with me, I know I missed a few days and had to catch up, some answers were less detailed than I would usually make them, but we got there. 😅

So to finish this off I think there are two obvious answers:

For a moment I think it’s pretty hard to ignore them bringing back The Goose for the ISC 50th anniversary! That they can just WHIP THAT OUT! I C O N S. also I didn’t say this when it happened but the way Scott reeaalllyyy wanted to do The Goose.. like he reaallyyy wants his bestest bestie kiddo to stand on his back while a freaking knife blade digs into his leg (which others have said it really fucking hurts when the girl stand on them but Scott has never once said it hurts or bothers him 🥹). AND they threw in a bonus spiny lift and Tessa fucking CRADLES HIS FACE 😵‍💫🥴☠️… yeh that messed me up emotionally for a loonnnggggg time.

And as for quote.. I’m not gonna word it specifically but during the RODcast when they both pretty much say explicitly that they don’t and would not love skating and dancing if not for each other, again that is obvious but god I love when they say it. I love when they acknowledge how special they are to each other, how much they mean to each other and that they have both given each other their entire lives. Ughhh

Ok then, back to more randomly scheduled content. I have a bunch of essays saved in my drafts which I just need to get around to editing so as always they are coming I just can’t guarantee when. Thanks to you all for continuing to follow along and interacting with my random outbursts of love for two precious adult retired ice dancers 🤪🥰

Also that Rodcast podcast thing they did earlier in 2023 and Scott mentions how now that they each have their partners, he can admit that there was real love & care there without people "cheapening it to a rom-com fantasy" like what. Is it some kink of theirs to just always deny what they had? So confused why they've never wanted to go public. They seemed like they were so in love in their comeback, it was truly painful to see Scott completely change his demeanour AND THE FACT THAT HE DIDN'T EVEN TELL TESSA ABOUT THE ENGAGEMENT? Boy bye. Part of me is glad for Tessa cuz it seems like he really got engaged and had a baby out of spite from whatever happened between them.. To which, in that case, T dodged a bullet. But also, part of me wonders when Jackie actually got pregnant because maybe that's the only reason Scott actually ended up proposing to her? Trying to be the noble guy and also his obsession with having a family post-skating.

unfourtunately i have a feeling there is going to be more spite babies :(

VM just said on the Rodcast that it would take a long time for them to get in shape to be able to skate together again, and that if they did, it would be behind closed doors, so I don't see why people think they'll be skating together at this ISC celebration. Sometimes I think fans just want to set themselves up for disappointment. Why not just enjoy the fact that they will be together to celebrate the skating club?

My expectations are pretty low lol… I don’t think even a little but that they would be skating together, and even if they hosted, I’m thinking they would be at the boards rather than on ice. It is very lovely that they will both be in attendance and maybe if we’re very lucky, we might get a bit of content (it being a ‘local’ show I’m not anticipating a lot - this is about more than just VM).

What did Scott mean when he talked about accessibility in figure skating in the rodcast? Did he mean it is only a sport for rich white people

i think he was referring to the high cost financially and also who is able to pursue figure skating at an advanced level - to have the opportunities to learn and train. access can be about physical location, about whether kids have anyone to guide them towards skating as an option, he may also be talking about the gender equity initiative in Canada as well. these are all things he's mentioned or referred to at some point

i didn't watch the whole thing, but maybe he's seeing issues around access firsthand, from how pointedly he brought up the subject of access

Tessa steered it towards access to sport in general. idk what she means about getting kids to talk about the access point, and she goes on a tangent but then comes back to access:

"I mean Scott and I have always been big proponents of getting kids to talk about you know the access point through which people can experience sport, whether it's skating or something else...

I think access is something and when you get to those higher levels how do we make it more manageable for the families because it is such an extraordinary sacrifice" it doesn't sound like she's thinking about this on a practical level, more like these are (rusty) talking points

But then she moves on to speak about show skating and how people can spend their money on so many different things and how skating needs new creativity to bring in audiences. would be exciting if she did get involved in doing that. she's got the business aspect and the creative aspect for this arena. So just noticing how they're in different places, as you'd expect about these subjects, given that he's still in sport, and she's mostly focused on other areas.

i listened to their rodcast podcast and my take aways were: scott still begging tess to choreo for his teams, tess finally wants to take a run at a (ballroom) dance reality show, and moë being discussed more than i would have preferred🤮

tess apologizing to scott’s fam during the ooc thing bcz they were using their own language was inchresting too but tessbot’s dialup connection constantly glitching was my fav.

Have you seen Lilah Fear's latest Instagram post (featuring Tessa)? Couple that with Scott's pointed comments about Tessa Virtue Choreography on the Rodcast, Tessa's voice cracking when mentioning Scott's "previous partner" also on the Rodcast, I just don't see how anyone can think Jackie isn't the major factor in this "break up." It's been 5 freaking years. As a T&S ice dance aficionado since 2009-2010, I am just heartbroken that I don't see a path towards real reconciliation.
