Another of his victims was Lepidus, that lover and favourite of his, the husband of Drusilla, the man who had together with Gaius maintained improper relations with the emperor's other sisters, Agrippina and Julia, the man whom he had allowed to stand for office five years earlier than was permitted by law and whom he kept declaring he would leave as his successor to the throne.
-Cassius Dio 59.22
everyone talks about the incest allegations, but surprising no one: the brother in law allegations are more fun to me
some commentary on the death of Lepidus
The Roman Emperor Gaius 'Caligula' and his Hellenistic Aspirations, Dr. Geoff W. Adams
usually my Caligula design is a remix of my Octavian design with darker hair, but for this I decided he should be his own person

In this carefully-planned entrance hall, interesting contrasts of texture all link up. The closely woven coir matting blends in with the terracotta painted walls, the silky, skin-covered upholstered stools tone with the dark, chunky, wooden bannisters, and the thick weave of the sofa looks good against the smooth cotton of the Roman shade.

Jfc I'm looking into Black Mask for this "Stephanie Brown takes vengeance for War Games" fic I'm writing and the more I learn about him the less seriously I can take him.
Let's review, shall we?
The Sionis family were rich socialites. I guess this makes him a more realistic crime boss, but it's still funny that he's kind of presented as this kind of Scarface-esque figure in Gotham.
Roman was dropped on his head literally MOMENTS after being born (his parents were SCANDALIZED and "covered it up"???? WHERE? His MEDICAL CHART????)
Roman was attacked by a RABID RACCOON as a child (it's in the WIKIPEDIA article so it MUST be an important part of his backstory)
His parents didn't like girlfriend and he decided the reasonable response to this was to burn them alive in their home
He inherited their cosmetics company and decided that what was really missing from the mainstream beauty industry was a line of ... FACEPAINT
He followed that up with a line of makeup that permanently scarred people!
SOMEHOW this managed to put the company out of business
Remember that girlfriend that he burned his parents alive so he could date her? Yeah, after he completely destroyed the company she broke up with him. In public. In front of his entire staff. Humiliating
He went to the cemetery after to brood but a lightning bolt struck and he went hurtling head-first into a rock, which is his villain origin story
The man is a literal fucking Looney Tune and I will not hear otherwise.
