11. hearts are made to be broken by @spideyxchelle- Peter and MJ reuniting as adults after breaking up following the events of FFH

12. I Reject This Tragic Backstory by shouldhaveknownbetter- Peter and MJ reuniting as adults after Peter went on the run when his identity was revealed to the world by Mysterio, also features MJ’s mum and we should all start featuring MJ’s mum in our fics more!!

13. always standing in your doorway by @coykoii- Peter and MJ once again reuniting a few years after the events of FFH, plus the comic doorway motif!!!

14. Defying Gravity by NyxEtoile and OlivesAwl- this was surprisingly written pre-FFH but features the common post-FFH premise of Peter having to go away during high school then reuniting with MJ as adults (also has actress!MJ)

So many spideychelle fics feature identity shenanigans + an identity reveal in some capacity but thought I’d do a specific category for some of my fave fics that haven’t featured in the series thus far (so if you feel there are some missing from this list, pls check out the previous lists). 1. Green by belby- one of the og fics in the fandom that came immediately after HOCO where Peter starts noticing MJ

2. your quiet afternoon crush by penelopes- admittedly a lot of this list is post-HOCO pre-FFH but that was a wonderful era for peter developing a crush on MJ (which we never got canonically sigh) and this is a great one from that era

3. gooey by luciernaga- another great fic where Peter starts to really notice MJ and getting to know her

4. the one with all the pocket money by abusedtrademarkemoji- college au in which peter is an oblivious, pining idiot

5. One Mask at a Time by Flame_Of_Ice- Peter developing a crush on MJ post-HOCO and dealing with it mostly poorly

6. the king of new york by CrimsonPetrichor- so only part 1 of the series really deals with Peter’s feelings for MJ but the entire series is great (it’s just 2 parts) so couldn’t not rec it as a whole

7. Changes by @qconstellation- post-Endgame fic in which Peter starts to get very distracted by MJ

8. take it slow by penelopes- MJ taunts Peter with practical jokes to let him know she knows he’s spider-man and Peter could not like her more for it

9. senior sucks the big moose dick by @spideyxchelle- Peter dealing with the fallout of Thanos along w his newly formed feelings for MJ (this was written pre-IW so doesn’t follow canon exactly)

10. Then I Met You by lowqualtom- au in which Peter keeps going back to an art galley to see the cute staff member (MJ) despite not being really into art himself

11. how to break a hundred dollar bill by peculiarblue- Peter keeps going back to the nearby convenience store to see the cute staff member (MJ)

12. Senses by @qconstellation- Peter finds his super senses zoning into MJ all he time...for some reason

13. studies to superheroics by @doofusface/@doofwrites- peter trying to balance doing academic decathlon remediation with mj whilst having a giant crush on her

14. bridges by @befehlvonganzunten​- post-Endgame series in which Peter develops feelings for MJ as he tries to adjust to everything (also has some MJ pining thrown in at parts but I’m recommending the entire series anyway)

15. [Read More] by @pepperminttegan Peter pining for MJ irl and online, though he doesn’t realise it’s MJ he’s talking to

16. When You Smile by ephemeralstark- Peter has a huge crush on MJ and it’s pretty mortifying

17. I Can’t Wait to Be Your Number One by @spideysmjs- Peter is in love with MJ and handles so, so poorly

18. i didn’t ask for your advice, not really by @spideyxchelle- Peter tries to enlist the help of different avengers for advice on dealing with his feelings for MJ with disastrous results

19. smile like you mean it by @smilinstar- peter trying his best to impress mj and make her smile for reasons (not make her smile in a creepy ���you’d look prettier if you smiled” way!!! peter would never bc may parker would literally beat his ass if he did that!!)

What Spiders Do in the Shadows by @machiavelien- the first and best vampire!MJ fic  that’s gone on to inspire a bunch of other vampire!MJ fics and I’m so grateful...I mean the title is has a reference to ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ so you know it’s good (also have to give a shoutout to @kazkazoozoo who first drew art of vampire!mj that inspired this fic which in turn spawned the concept which is growing in popularity)

2. bat lightning heart by @iovewords- one of my faves of this trope, Peter and MJ have a natural chemistry that seeps through this fic and it has a great flirtatious tone...also I’m always here for MJ dolling out her own vigilante justice

3. it’s immortality, darling by @jsscshvlr- vampire!MJ is so bold and sexy

4. you should see me in a crown by @seek-rest- here for vampire!MJ being a hero in her own right

5. What We Do in the Spider by @awakening5- if you give me a vampire fic w a title that’s a reference to ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ I’m gonna automatically love it

6. bleed me dry by @soperiso- creepy, super atmospheric halloween-set fic where Peter goes to a haunted house w friends but finds something else waiting there

7. Forever (is a blessing spent with you) by @spideyfic- high school sweethearts meet again as immortals decades later + it has gorgeous art illustrating it!!!

8. Goner by @hulksmashmouth- this is part of the ‘Have Patience with Your Local Teens, They're Going Through a Lot’ series that deals w MJ’s home life and is just a really great meditation on trauma and healing, and you should definitely read the entire series but just wanted to spotlight this fic which first introduced me to the idea of venom/symbiote!MJ

9. Black Dahlia by @machiavelien- this is part of the ‘Rage Rising’ series which I’ve definitely recommended before in this rec series but I’m rec’ing it again bc it’s a superb mash of body horror, a coming of age story and is delightfully sexy (read the entire series!!)

10. restart this heart of mine by @mjonesing- Peter is a ghost “haunting” (more like just being a nuisance) MJ’s dorm room...but there’s also more going on

A disclaimer before I list fic recs: “badass” can mean a lot of things and not just the traditional hollywood version of “badass”, and I personally believe MJ is a badass as she is in how she’s clearly v socially conscious and stands up for herself and others (see her defending Peter against Flash then against Brad in FFH) but for the sake of narrowing this down I’ve gone for fics that fit that more hollywood definition of “badass” otherwise I’d just be listing every peter/mj fic in existence.

19. Cat and Spider by @awakening5- there’s no such thing as too many black cat mj aus...this one blends elements of canon beautifully

20. sunrise of your sins by @bipetermj- keep the black cat!mj aus coming!!!

21. Catch a Tiger by the Tail by @groo-ock - spider-man noir au in which MJ is spider-man..really great murder mystery and noir story all-round (w lots of the hallmarks of the genre except they’re flipped on their heads like a homme fatale instead of a femma fatale)

22. slow dancing in the spider’s web by quiet_lights- a dark, dystopian post-Blip au in which MJ is a detective investigating crime in New York...only one chap and has not updated in a long time but if you like mysteries and dystopian-set stories then I highly recommend it regardless

Hi, I’m always getting asks asking me for recs for spideychelle/petermj fics so I thought why not just do a whole series (it has to be a series bc there are A LOT of fics) where I rec fics according to genre/trope/my own made up category bc why not? I’ve read too many spideychelle fics so might as well put that useless near-encyclopaedic knowledge to use *shrugs*

NB- these recs are just based on what I’ve read so there may be things missing here, that’s not a comment on the quality of the fic or anything...it just means I haven’t read it. 1. Double Life by chrono96- this is 37 chapters and nearly 90k so perfect if you want slowburn so slow you almost pull your hair out and go through your screen to fight the characters for being dumb

2. I Won’t Tell Anyone That Your Voice Is My Favorite Sound by sonnie- this unfortunately is unfinished and hasn’t been updated in a long long time but it was one of the first fics I read when I joined the fandom and it holds a place near and dear to my heart so I couldn’t not include it

3. spilt truth and smudged lies (at least until the inkwell runs dry) by @smilinstar- one of the best spideychelle fics ever (not an opinion, just a fact) that feels like reading a really great spidey comic

4. i am your sweetheart psychopathic crush by adashofhope- lots of miscommunication and misunderstandings and general peter and mj being dumbasses

5. Midtown Mercenary by @spideybrells- you know what I said about slowburn that makes you want to pull your hair out and fight fictional characters for being dumb? yeah.

6. count to ten by @spideysmjs- a series w slowburn spanning two wonderful fics

7. For Now, We May Remain Silent by @forasecondtherewedwon- a pride and prejudice au which I had to include bc jane austen practically invented the slowburn trope

8. The Floor is Lava by @amyabbotts- New Girl au. what more is there to say?

9.  All’s Well That Ends Well (to End Up With You) by @seek-rest- a series in which college aged spideychelle are still oblivious idiots, surprise surprise

10. Under their skin by @aquietconstellation- the pining, oh the pining

11. The Street Where You Live by nik_knows_nothing- an incredible series that really focuses on building peter and mj’s friendship

12. It’s So Romantic in Paris by hannrose- unfinished and unfortunately hasn’t been updated in a while but it’s a great story about falling in love

13. landscapes by pieandsouffle- a great series that focuses on peter and mj after hoco

14. Peter Parker’s Plan by @eowima- FFH but w/out all that elementals/Mysterio nonsense

15. New Beginnings by @spideysmjs- a series in which MJ is the new student at Midtown, lots of high school drama and just a great coming of age story

16. tell me what you want what you really really want by @mindshelter- friends to lovers series that has part 1 as peter’s pov then part 2 as mj’s pov, so good!!

17. A Year of Growth by @spiders-n- really great, lengthy slow burn fic that’s also a great coming of age and coming of superhero (is that a thing??? I’ve decided it is now) fic that sees Peter grow as a person/man and as a superhero
