#I have decided the Abhorsen’s house needs outside decor in my mind’s eye #bc otherwise it is just a rectangle with a round bit in on it #I have also decided the tower roof is a dome bc that would fuck #sam (and touchstone bc he knows about windmills and erecting monoliths): why does this building NEED buttresses? the windows are magic #they have an extended debate about whether magic windows change the lateral thrust of the walls #it takes up an entire family dinner #Sam thinks is necessary #touchstone thinks it’s probably to make the house look more cohesive with the island walls (those buttresses ARE load bearing)#no one agrees to let them dig around the foundations to ‘have a look’

seems like the wardi writing system is like bornnn for that squared paper used for graphs

I was mostly thinking it would develop as a compliment for favored geometric design motifs, and the formal style is pleasing to aesthetic sensibilities in its cleanness in a way that having a grid underneath would undermine. But they could maybe also independently invent the concept of graph paper. It could happen. Scribes could learn to write neatly with the help of lore friendly graph paper.

#I was also thinking that most people end up writing it in kinda rounded rectangles and some people use circles just to be assholes #Was also picturing someone writing all their characters in hearts. The heart symbol doesn't have any meaning in this context but its #a concept.

It’s such a strange shape.

kind of like a rectangle on the sides. Round top of course. The chin shape keeps changing though. The muzzle actually doesn’t look too hard on this one, but the eyes look like they might be a problem.
