Tips & Tricks Tuesday: Funeral planning
Tumblr media
Dealing with the funeral of a loved one is not easy and something no one wants to deal with. However, we appreciated jassyk's tip for how Remember The Milk was able to help their family through a difficult time with a lot going on. 🖤
My father passed away and with all of the legal and stuff we had to do, I really needed to streamline my to-do list. I kept losing paper lists and my notebooks and I found RTM- How could I have ever lived with out this?! It is my favorite thing ever and I am a user of less than a month! I have created lists for the to-dos for the funerals, luncheons, and then I was really excited was I was able to add notes within those lists. Then it came to create lists for the lawyer and what they needed, for the estate, the after funeral stuff for thank you notes. The separation of the phone, emails, computer, personal really came in handy and being able to prioritize what was needed now and what could wait. Then I was able to make a list of death certificates, from who needed the originals to who needed copies. It really streamlined things as RTM really took off stress. I also created a Smart List for my hobbies as I work with local farms by processing their fleeces. So not only am I able to use RTM for my funeral needs for what I need to do with my father, I have created my own Smart Lists for my hobbies as well and my daily life. I can never ever live without RTM… My favorite app to use on a daily basis. Setting the priorities, dates and especially the notes within the lists are super important and I have not lost a list yet! It is nice to have everything in one spot instead of having 10 different note books of different stuff! Thank you, thank you for making my life so much more organized and not lost on where I need to be!
Thanks for sharing your tip, jassyk! You’re our Tips & Tricks Tuesday winner this week.
Do you have a suggestion for our weekly Tips & Tricks post? Got an interesting set-up or idea? Head over to the Tips & Tricks forum, add a new topic, and let us know how you use Remember The Milk. Each week we’ll give away a 1 year Pro account to the user whose idea inspires the Tips & Tricks Tuesday blog post for that week.

hello, first of all, I've really been enjoying your blog, and the fact that it's been around for so long is wonderful imo. Slight vent, which i apologise for, but I'm actually hoping for some tips on how to get out of my depressed state/slump. It's been over a year now, and no kind of therapy, therapist, psychiatrist and or medication has been of any help. And I've been to over 12 therapists/psychiatrists and they have all refused to speak about ED's and any kind of SA, I mean, I've seen three professors and a dean. All male so that might explain it. It's been like this for years, and I'm quite aware that I'm my only saviour (sounds cringe, but it's the truth. Only you can save yourself.) This whole state started when a family member much older than me tried to groom me into an affair with him, which is of course important but lingering on that has done me no good, so I wanted to ask what I could do in a day. I mean, I have a lot of hobbies and interests, but all of them have felt like chores more than things I enjoy. Everyday I wake up, feeling numb, with fleeting bursts of energy that I can't seem to take advantage of. Last two days I've spent completely asleep. What do you recommend I should do? Social isolation and all for more than a year has left me a nervous and stuttering wreck, no school either. The answer is probably fairly obvious, implement small things into my day every day and build up from there, but I seem to drop everything after a while for some reason. Maybe self sabotage, maybe laziness. Either way, I feel like your opinion would do me good. Thank you if you just even read this, hope you have a fantastic day <3
First of all, thank you so much! That's really nice of you to say. I'm sorry you're going through such a hard time. If you haven't looked for a female therapist who deals specifically with patients who have EDs and trauma, that would be my first suggestion. A lot of mental health professionals are qualified to deal with certain types of patients but not others, and so they'll refuse to touch topics that are out of their wheelhouse. For trauma in particular, EMDR therapy has good results and works faster than other forms of therapy, so it may be something to look into if you haven't tried it already.
In terms of medical intervention, depending on how many different medications you've tried, your depression may be "treatment resistant". If you've tried a bunch of different medications and dosages for at least 6-8 weeks at a time and none of them have worked, you may want to try pharmacogenetic testing. Our genes impact the way that we metabolize medication, so doing testing can help to identify which medications may work better for you.
If you try that and medication still isn't making a difference, there are other interventions you can try. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), where magnetic fields are used to stimulate nerve cells in the brain, can improve symptoms of depression, as can ketamine treatments. Some people try one or the other, and some people do them simultaneously. Ketamine treatments are especially promising because some people start to feel better right after the treatment. I sometimes get advertisements for companies that do at-home, telehealth ketamine treatments, although I can't vouch for how legitimate those are. If neither of those work, electroconvulsive therapy and vagus nerve stimulation may also be options to help your depressive symptoms. There's also some evidence to suggest that psilocybin may help treatment-resistant depression, although they're generally illegal in the US. If you happen to be in Alberta, Canada, it is actually legal for use in therapy.
Other than that, I think you're right that unfortunately, the lifestyle changes that will help the most have to be built up over time. Things like consistent exercise, sleeping well, eating healthily, meditation, practicing gratitude, being mindful, having small, achievable goals, helping other people, spending time with friends, etc. all contribute to overall health and well-being, but only if you can maintain them over time. For someone who's in the middle of a depressive episode, that type of consistency is super hard because the brain struggles to get the feeling of accomplishment that encourages us to do an activity again. In my understanding, these types of habits are better suited to preventing a depressive episode rather than ending one (if that makes sense).
I'm sorry that this isn't more helpful in terms of a quick fix. As far as something you can do in one day goes, I think scheduling an appointment with a new practitioner, whether that's an eating disorder professional, an EMDR therapist, a psychiatrist, or a non-pharmacological intervention clinic (TMS, ketamine), is probably a good first step. I know it's hard, especially since you've already seen so many people with no real improvement, but ultimately, the people who are in the best position to help are the ones who spend their lives treating patients. The right person will listen you what's worked and what hasn't and help you find a next step that's right for you. I hope things start looking up for you soon, and I'm always here to listen or given an opinion any time you need one.

Tips & Tricks Tuesday: Winning friends and influencing people with their important dates
Tumblr media
Social relationships, particularly at work, require a level of care and detail that may not always come naturally.
This week countdiso shares their tip on keeping track of others' life details so that you can keep up with birthdays, anniversaries, and everything else you want!
So I'm not a very chatty person, and having a little small talk chat with someone is very tiring for me. I don't remember details about someone else's life, so I'll often seem rude and uninterested. This became a bit of a problem when I was in charge of 100 people, not just a problem for me, but for anyone to remember the name of 100 employees and their partners and children's names is going to be tricky. RTM to the rescue! We all know we can use RTM for birthday reminders, but I needed to use it for more than that, it had to make me look good. So, firstly I did some basics, all employee birthdays into RTM. If an employee got married then that went into RTM too as a repeating reminder, suddenly I'm the boss who remembers people's wedding anniversaries better than they do. If anyone mentioned it was their child's birthday, again straight into RTM as a repeating task, with notes of the child's name, and what they had planned. "Hey, isn't it little Steve's birthday this weekend, what is he now 7, you gonna take him to Diggerland like last year?" Suddenly I'm the boss who really cares about his employees. Deaths in the family logged. This might seem cynical, but the loss of a close family member won't just impact someone at the time. Knowing that it was the anniversary of a parent's death made a difference, "Debbie is in a right mood today, something needs to be done about her, she can't talk to me like that", "Yeah, sorry about that but it is a year today since she lost her mother, she is probably upset", "Oh God, I didn't know, I'll make her a coffee and get some biscuits" I logged everything, employee moving house, RTM that heck out of that, in a year's time, how is the new house coming along, must be a year since you've moved, everything unpacked now. Whilst people always respected me for my decision making and work ethic, I was a manager that was viewed as grumpy and unapproachable. By making all these reminders to prompt small talk and help me remember significant (and even insignificant) events in my employee's lives, I became a manager who was viewed as caring, understanding and very approachable.
Thanks for sharing this tip, countdiso! You’re our Tips & Tricks Tuesday winner this week.

Side Effects and Safety of rTMS Treatment in Hyderabad
Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) has emerged as a groundbreaking treatment for various mental health conditions, offering hope to many who have not found relief through traditional methods. At Asha Neuromodulation Clinics, we provide rTMS treatment in Hyderabad and are dedicated to ensuring both the efficacy and safety of this innovative therapy. This blog post explores the side effects and safety profile of rTMS, helping you make an informed decision about your mental health care.
What is rTMS?
rTMS is a non-invasive neuromodulation therapy that uses magnetic fields to stimulate specific areas of the brain. It is primarily used for treating depression, especially in patients who have not responded to traditional antidepressants. Additionally, rTMS has shown promise in treating anxiety, OCD, and other mental health conditions.
Safety of rTMS Treatment
Non-Invasive and Painless: One of the key advantages of rTMS treatment in Hyderabad is that it is non-invasive. Unlike surgical procedures, rTMS does not require anesthesia or incisions, making it a safer option for many patients. The procedure is also painless, with most patients experiencing only mild discomfort.
FDA-Approved: rTMS is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of depression and certain other conditions. This approval underscores the treatment’s safety and effectiveness, as it has undergone rigorous testing and clinical trials.
Minimal Systemic Effects: Unlike traditional antidepressants, which can affect the entire body and cause various side effects, rTMS targets specific areas of the brain. This localized approach minimizes systemic side effects, making it a preferable option for those who experience adverse reactions to medications.
Common Side Effects of rTMS
While rTMS is generally well-tolerated, some patients may experience mild side effects. It is important to note that these side effects are typically short-lived and resolve on their own.
Scalp Discomfort: During the rTMS procedure, patients may feel a tapping or tingling sensation on the scalp. This discomfort is usually mild and diminishes as the treatment progresses.
Headache: Some patients report mild headaches following an rTMS session. These headaches are typically temporary and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.
Lightheadedness: A few patients may feel lightheaded immediately after the treatment. This sensation is usually brief and subsides quickly.
Muscle Twitching: In rare cases, patients might experience slight muscle twitching in the face or head during the procedure. This is a normal response to the magnetic pulses and is not harmful.
Rare Side Effects
Serious side effects from rTMS are extremely rare. However, it is essential to be aware of them and discuss any concerns with your psychiatrist in Hyderabad.
Seizures: The risk of seizures during rTMS treatment is very low, estimated to be less than 0.00167% (or less than 1 in 60,000 sessions). Patients with a history of seizures or certain medical conditions may require additional evaluation before undergoing rTMS.
Hearing Issues: The noise produced by the rTMS machine can be loud. Patients are provided with earplugs to protect their hearing during the procedure.

The landscape of healthcare is continually evolving, and with it, the intricacies of billing, especially in the realm of Remote Monitoring Services (RMS). As we move into 2024 and beyond, staying informed about the latest updates in RTM (Remote Therapeutic Monitoring) billing is crucial for healthcare providers and billing professionals. This blog aims to shed light on the key aspects of Billing RTM and RTM Medicare billing, ensuring that you stay ahead in this dynamic field.
Tumblr media
Understanding the Essence of Remote Monitoring Services
Remote Monitoring Services have revolutionized patient care, allowing for continuous monitoring of a patient's health data remotely. This innovation not only enhances patient care but also demands a nuanced understanding of billing practices. As we embrace these technological advancements, the importance of mastering the billing process for these services becomes paramount.
Navigating RTM Medicare Billing
Medicare billing for RTM services has specific guidelines and requirements. As we advance, Medicare continues to update its policies to accommodate the evolving nature of remote healthcare services. It's essential for healthcare providers to stay abreast of these changes to ensure compliance and maximize reimbursement. Understanding the nuances of RTM Medicare billing is not just about following guidelines; it's about ensuring that patients receive the uninterrupted care they need, while the providers are fairly compensated.
Billing RTM - A Step Towards Improved Healthcare
Billing for RTM involves various components, from coding the services accurately to understanding the reimbursement process. It's a step towards not only streamlined operational efficiency but also improved patient care. As we delve deeper into 2024, the healthcare industry must adapt to these changes swiftly and efficiently. This involves training billing staff, updating billing software, and continuously educating oneself about the latest Medicare updates.
The Future of RTM Billing
Looking ahead, the future of RTM billing seems poised for further growth and sophistication. With the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning, billing processes could become more automated and error-free. The focus will likely shift towards enhancing accuracy, reducing claim denials, and fostering a more seamless linkage between patient monitoring and billing.
Conclusion
As Remote Monitoring Services continue to grow, so does the complexity and importance of RTM billing. Staying informed and adaptable is key to navigating RTM Medicare billing successfully. It's not just about keeping up with changes; it's about being a proactive part of a healthcare revolution that prioritizes patient care through efficient and accurate billing practices.
