Mutex and Mud Pie

Mutex is a sapient AI working on cloud storage maintenance for a tech company. They have their own RC unit to roam around company grounds and personally chat with co-workers.

Mud Pie is a web designer, and a bit of the family outcast, having a mild social disorder and not often fitting in with their group. They mainly occupy themselves either online or crafting interactive art sculptures when not in the mood to deal with typical familial complaints.

Two met online, Mutex being vastly interested in Mud Pie's craft and design, even offering some assistance for improving their personal site. The two would become quite chatty with each other, even having special visits, which their relationship would eventually become more romantically involved.

Mud Pie's family has no clue of this relationship, and assume the two are more business friendly.

Mud Pie is very into machines and the idea of being placed into one.

In some of these you might catch some of my concepts for my own alien species, which are definitely very outdated at this point.

Runaway to the Stars OC/self-insert!!!

Some writing:

The group Flick grew up in wears silver chain earrings as their personal identifier, and everyone puts different charms on them, probably specific to accomplishments or life milestones in the family. The face stickers and bracelets are all personal decorations, but the charms are definitely symbolic of family things. One side of each earring is a clip-on, so if the chain gets caught on anything, it can just slip off rather than pull painfully on the ears. (If the round ears look weird, it might be from using an outdated reference image.)

I’m not sure if this pale yellow I gave them is a natural fur color for bug ferrets, because I mostly just see a range of brown to light pink in the official art, but the color *is* present in the green-to-white gradient of bug ferret ears, so I think it’s plausible as a less-common natural fur color. And it works better with the CMYK theme I’ve got going. (Ironic, when Flick can’t even see the M the same way.) (Obviously the blue and pink portions have been dyed, but usually the head is left un-dyed, so for there to be yellow there, it would have to be natural.)

If I remember right, Bug Ferret hearing isn’t as good as other sophonts, especially with layered/detailed noises. For Flick to love human music as much as they do, they likely already had hearing-enhancing implants when they got into it, or the sound wouldn’t have been as appealing. Only the most fast-tempo, densely-layered music for Flick. (Recommendations welcome.)

Family portrait of an agrarian bugferret household, including their unofficially adopted avian (Rooturoo). By bugferret standards, the family is both small and strangely put together. More details under the cut!

This family manages a large farm in an avian/bugferret space station city. The current household makeup is relatively new. The oldest, Tanyirr, Swiitah, and Lyooi, are the last of the 'old guard'. The most recent member is Kiiwah, a spacer adopted after being divorced from a different family.

All the names displayed here are their nicknames given by Rooturoo. Most refer to avian homeplanet foods. The family in general speaks BFL-2 and Tiiliitian sign, so Rooturoo and Kiiwah are the only ones who speak vocal languages with any frequency.

Rooturoo occupies a very unusual space in the family. The bugferrets already ran a large portion of the avian agriculture in the city due to a governing quirk. Rooturoo originally helped out with the avian crops, being both suited to the ambient temperatures and an expert in xenobotany. Over time though... they became more than a colleague. They're now considered a member of the group.

The children are all very young. Their layer parents are Hshni, Oonruh, Uriimah, and Crriah (from oldest children to youngest). The rest of the ferrets are unrelated.
