Destry Allyn Spielberg’s Directing Debut Will Be ‘Please Don’t Feed The Children’; ‘Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery Starring

Michelle Dockery is set to star in Destry Allyn Spielberg’s directorial debut, Please Don’t Feed the Children. The elevated genre feature film will begin production late April in New Mexico. Scripted by Paul Bertino, the psychological thriller is produced by Jason Dubin and his Perry Street Films, Josh Kesselman and Michael Hagerty.

In Please Don’t Feed the Children, after a viral outbreak ravaged the country’s adult population, a group of orphans heads south in search of a new life, only to find themselves at the mercy of a deranged woman harboring a dangerous secret.

Spielberg, daughter of The Fabelmans helmer, will do this film before the one on which she originally expected to make her feature debut, Four Assassins (and a Funeral). The latter, a Kingsman-meets-Knives Out meets-Succession-style script by Ryan Hooper that made the 2021 Black List, will percolate a bit longer but is still in the works from Basil Iwanyk & Erica Lee’s Thunder Road Pictures. The pic will just move back as the other one was ready to go.

Spielberg won Best Thriller at City of Angels Women’s Film Festival in 2022 for her short film, Let Me Go the Right Way. She co-wrote the screenplay with Owen King, and it premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival, with Hopper Penn and Brian D’Arcy James starring. Her work as an actress includes Licorice Pizza and an episode of the miniseries I Know This Much Is True.

Said Spielberg: “I am so grateful to have the opportunity to bring this story to the screen with such a collaborative and inspirational team. This picture is so much more than just a horror film. It’s a dream come true to work with a talent such as Michelle Dockery. I am excited to elevate the genre with our incredible cast and crew.”

Dockery is Emmy nominated for playing Lady Mary on Downton Abbey and its two film spinoffs. She also was Emmy-nommed for the Scott Frank-created limited series Godless and co-starred in the Guy Ritchie-directed The Gentlemen and opposite Chris Evans in the Morten Tyldum-directed Apple TV+ limited series Defending Jacob and the SJ Clarkson-directed limited Netflix series Anatomy of a Scandal. She just wrapped Stephen Knight’s six-part limited series This Town.  

Dockery is represented by WME, Anonymous Content, Hamilton Hodell and Johnson Shapiro Slewett; Spielberg is repped by WME, Sugar 23 and Gang Tyre.

Minnesota Twins-Tampa Bay Rays Series Preview

The Twins At A Glance- The Twins are the hottest team in baseball after winning seven straight games. They are now (11-8) and lead the division by three games. Gary Sanchez should play in this series after missing about a week with an abdominal injury. Miguel Sano has been sore after getting in a rundown on Tuesday, but he should play this weekend. Bailey Ober left Thursday’s game with a groin injury and will likely make his next start. Alex Kirilloff has played two rehab games for the Saints this week as he works his way back. It’s the last weekend of a 28-man roster, so the team needs healthy guys after this series. The offense averaged 5.7 runs per game on the last homestand. Luis Arraez leads the team with a .333 average in eighteen games. Gio Urshela went 5-for-10 with an RBI in the Tigers series. Carlos Correa might be out of an early season slump after his three-hit day on Thursday. The Twins starting rotation has the second-best ERA in baseball at 2.39. The bullpen is slowly getting better with a 3.94 ERA. Joe Smith hasn’t allowed a run in 6 2/3 innings out of the bullpen. Tyler Duffey has thrown three straight scoreless innings to get his ERA down. Overall, the Twins are doing just about everything right and luck has been on their side. 

The Rays At A Glance- The Rays have been streaky over this early season. They won four of the first five games then dropped five of their next six. Tampa Bay has now won four of five and is (11-8) this year. Ji-Man Choi has a .357 average through fifteen games. Wander Franco is off to a good start with a .307 average, four homers, and twelve RBI’s. Randy Arozarena is off to a slow start with a .200 average on the young season. The Rays are hitting .245 on the year, but average four runs per game. The Tampa Bay starting rotation has a 3.44 ERA, which is twelfth-best in baseball. The bullpen is even better with a 2.83 ERA. J.P. Feyereisen and Jalen Beeks have not allowed a run over 9 1/3 innings of work. Andrew Kittredge has locked down three saves and allowed just two runs. Matt Wisler has nine strikeouts in 9 1/3 innings of work. The Rays have dealt with some injuries on the pitching staff. JT Chargois is out with left oblique tightness, Ryan Yarbrough has a left groin injury, Luis Patino has an oblique issue, and several others are working their way back from Tommy John surgery. 

What To Watch For- Each team split three games in the season series in 2021. The Twins won two out of three games at Target Field, while the Rays won two out of three games at Tropicana Field. Dylan Bundy is (5-6) with a 6.19 ERA in fourteen career games against the Rays. He has a 8.22 ERA in five games at Tropicana Field. Kevin Kiermaier has two career homers off Bundy. Corey Kluber is (9-7) with a 3.40 ERA in 23 starts against the Twins. Chris Archer has never started against his former team. He is (23-32) with a 3.31 ERA in 89 starts at The Trop. Shane McClanahan allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings in his only start versus the Twins. Chris Paddack and Josh Fleming have never pitched against their opponent before. This should be a good test for the Twins, who are overperforming over the past week. They will play a solid Rays team and see what they’re made of.
