Krasnopeevtsev Dmitry Mikhailovich (1925-1995) "Bears, stones, shells and shards." 1966.
Orgalit, oil, 38.3×56.5 cm.
At the bottom, the author's signature and date: "K-66".
D.M. Krasnopeevtsev usually made his compositions from objects stored in the artist's studio. Antique jugs and shards, shells and sea pebbles, dry plants, horse skull, ordered on the plane, helped Krasnopevtsev to create pictures-reflections on the essence of being and the concept of time.
"The subjects on the canvas themselves do not yet create a plot - I mean a plastic plot. It is the composition, the thought that make up my plot, not objects: jugs, stones, shells, snags...," said D. Krasnopeevtsev.
Expert opinion of Y.V. Rybakova.
Painter, graphic artist. Member of the KH. A representative of Soviet nonconformism. The main genre of the artist is "metaphysical still life" close to surrealism with simple, often beaten ceramics, dry plants and shells. From 1942 to 1947 he studied at the Moscow Art School in memory of 1905 with a break for military service. Then in 1949-1955 at the Moscow Art Institute named after C Surikov, where among his mentors was M. Dobrov, master of miniature etching. Participated in exhibitions in Moscow, Leningrad, Tbilisi, as well as in Switzerland, USA, Germany, France. In 1975, he took part in an exhibition in the pavilion "Beekeeping" at VDNH in Moscow. He worked at Advertising Film for about twenty years. In 1976, he was admitted to the City Committee of Graphics. In 1992, D. Krasnopeevtsev became the first artist to be awarded the new "informal" Triumph award.

‘Confiscating lowlifes’ property’
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has proposed confiscating the property of the “lowlife” Russians who emigrated after the February 24 invasion of Ukraine. (He’s very upset about emigres continuing to earn rental income on homes they still own back in Russia.) Volodin advocates taking their property as “compensation” for the supposed damage they’ve inflicted on Russia by criticizing the war. Senator Andrey Klishas, who chairs the Federation Council’s Constitutional Legislation and State Building Committee, has endorsed this proposal (though he says Russia’s Criminal Code will need to be revised).
(Opinion) Dark days lie ahead for private property protections in Russia — columnist Tatiana Rybakova (Republic):
Rybakova says State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin is likely just seeking attention with his recent proposal to expand Russia’s criminalization of anti-war speech and allow the authorities to confiscate the property of citizens who emigrated after the February 24 invasion. Despite subsequent endorsements from other senior lawmakers, Volodin floated the idea in a rant on Telegram, after all — not in formal draft legislation. Rybakova believes he was just performing for the Kremlin.
In reality, argues Rybakova, such an initiative would face strong resistance from Russia’s elites, who understand that seizing emigres’ apartments today is a slippery slope that could lead to the police showing up tomorrow outside certain officials’ mansions. Real estate is also the last remnant of Russia’s middle-class wealth, so it is useful for the authorities to threaten these assets, sowing fear but never exercising (and thereby exhausting) this leverage.
Rybakova warns that real estate is nevertheless a poor investment given Russia’s weak guarantees on private property ownership. She advises everyone leaving the country to sell everything possible and to be sure to pester state tax collectors to remove those items from their taxable assets. Many Russians who left after the full-scale invasion still cling to the hope that they can return after the war ends, but Rybakova points out that the conflict could drag on for years. In fact, even a post-war democratic Russia could prove just as bad for property ownership, given that the invasion is burning up wealth it took Russia decades to amass. Any reparations would saddle the state with additional burdens that the authorities would pass onto the public.
And what about the Russians who haven’t left? Rybakova says they should expect the state to come for their assets sooner or later, one way or another, squeezing everything they can out of the population as the war drags on and drains federal coffers.

In Kyiv, the exhibition "Soledar. Salt. War" about the history of a small, flourishing city in the past, where the occupiers came, and the history of the defenders who defend the country in Donetsk region. The exhibition features more than fifty photos from the city of Soledar by photographer Oleksandr Parkhomenka and Iryna Rybakova, press officer of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodny Yar" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The first part of the exhibition is dedicated to the peaceful Soledar, which Oleksandr Parkhomenko recorded in photographs - the facilities of the Artemsil enterprise, the underground salt mines, the process of salt extraction, macro photos of salt crystals. "Visitors will see episodes from the life of a peaceful city in 1993. These pictures were created over three months. Then I could spend a day on the frame - the work was extremely exciting and interesting. The mines of Soledar and the city itself made an extraordinary impression on me - an absolutely magical place that I fell in love with, the people who worked there, and the salt itself. What captivated me from the first moment was the volume of human labor and the scale of salt extraction there," said Oleksandr Parkhomenko. In the second part of the exhibition, Iryna Rybakova's photos from the city already destroyed by the war are presented: portraits of Ukrainian soldiers - defenders of Soledar, artillery salvos during the battle, houses destroyed by the Russians. Iryna Rybakova took many pictures in the breaks between "arrivals", when it was possible to leave the shelter even for a short time. More will be told about the exhibition at the opening: - Ihor Poshivaylo, general director of the National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity; - Volodymyr Tylishchak, Acting Chairman of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance; - Oleksandr Movchan, Deputy General Director of the Donetsk Regional Museum of Local Lore; - Volodymyr Nyzienko, head of the communications department of SE "Artemsil". The list of speakers is being updated. The exhibition will last until June 11. For the first time, the exhibition "Soledar. Salt. War' was shown in the French city of Agen on the anniversary of the large-scale invasion on February 24. In Ukraine, the exhibition was exhibited in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region. Organizers: Donetsk Regional Museum of Local Lore, National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity. Oleksandr Parkhomenko is a photographer from Kramatorsk, member of the National Union of Photographic Artists of Ukraine, author of photo exhibitions. Iryna Rybakova is a public relations officer of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodny Yar" from Kyiv.
