When Brooke Lynn fell asleep on the tour bus, everyone knewit – Vanessa wasn’t exaggerating when he had mentioned his tendency to snorelike a moose. Some of the queens might even go as far as to say it was puttingit lightly. And unless they had headphones, there was no way to sleep throughit.

The exception, of course, was Vanessa. In the span of theirrelationship, he had become fully immune to him – something everyone elsedeeply envied at this point. So, when Brooke Lynn was jolted awake on the busfrom his own mind, Vanessa was still sleeping soundly three rows behind him. Thiswasn’t just a jerk from hitting a pothole, this was…unclear, but jarring.

Brooke Lynn was breathing heavily, possibly hyperventilating.His face was red, and his eyes were wide, it was almost as if he were having anout of body experience.

No one knew quite what to do. Everyone tried to comfort him,calm him down, but that did no good. Then they tried giving him water, but thatdidn’t help either. The only progress they had made was that it no longerappeared to be a potential medical emergency after a few minutes. Brooke Lynn’sbreathing was no longer dangerously hard, but it was unsteady, and his body wasshaking. He had mumbled the issue a couple of times, but it wasn’t discernible.

“We have to go to plan c,” A’keria announced to a bus ofconfused and concerned expressions. “Plan C is waking up Vanjie and letting himtry. You know they relationship is still…’special’,” if Brooke wasn’t stillfreaking out, he probably would have had something to say about that.

“I got Vanjie,” Yvie, who was sitting closest to him,offered before gently shaking him awake.

Vanessa groaned and pulled his hoodie down over his face. “Fivemore minutes,” he mumbled.

“Vanj, it’s Brooke Lynn. He’s having a meltdown and we needsome intervention.”

That was enough to wake Vanessa up properly. “What’shappening?” he furrowed his brows and got up, moving up to Brooke Lynn’s seat. “Hey,hey, look at me,” he squeezed his hand with one hand and cupped his face withthe other. “You’re okay. I got you. I ain’t letting anything happen to you,” itwould be odd to call his voice soothing, but nothing else seemed to fit how hespoke to Brooke.

“Baby,” Brooke murmured in the softest voice, lettingVanessa climb onto his lap. Just as quickly as it started, it ended. He was evenkeeled and smiling softly, holding the smaller male like a security blanket,pressing a kiss to the top of his head. “Thank you,” he whispered.

Vanessa smiled and nestled his head into the crook of hisneck. “I’m just glad you’re okay,” he said sincerely. “You had everyoneworried.”

“I’m sorry,” Brooke lifted his head up enough to direct itto the rest of the bus, who had drifted from concern to disbelief that Vanessa’spresence was literally all it took.

At least after that, the ride went off without a hitch, andthey all got to the hotel in one piece. Perhaps that was why Yvie deemed itapropos to pull Brooke Lynn to the side once they had all checked in. “Okay,explain this to me once and for all – why are you still broken up with Vanjie?It’s obvious you two are still crazy about each other.”

Brooke Lynn blinked in surprise. “Firstly, this is none ofyour business,” he said flatly, but sighed and added “Being in a relationshipwith Vanjie wouldn’t be fair to him. I know that sounds insane but…you saw whathappened today. He has the kindest, warmest soul. I’m just not good enough forhim right now. Maybe…I don’t know, sometime down the line we can reignite thatromantic spark and—”

“Oh my god, don’t even,” Yvie rolled his eyes. “Everyonewith eyes can see that the ‘spark’ you two have never went away. I get it, youbroke up because you were scared or insecure or what-fucking-ever, but don’tkid yourselves. You two are as crazy about each other now as you were when youwere jerking each other off in the van on the way to set,” and with that, he pickedup his luggage and went to the elevator.

It took a moment for Yvie’s words to set in, and Brooke Lynnhated how right he was. Fine, he never stopped having feelings for Vanessa. Hewas still the same person that stared adoringly at him across the workroom. Butwhat was he supposed to do about it? Act on his feelings and risk hurtingVanessa again? Vanessa didn’t deserve that. “Shit,” he muttered under hisbreath. He had to at least say something.

“Hey, Vanj?” Brooke walked up to him as casually as hecould. “Thank you for, uh, helping me out on the bus earlier. I don’t know whathappened, it was just a crazy nightmare,” he told him.

Vanessa smiled brightly. “Don’t sweat it, B. Sometimesdreams can really fuck you up. If you ever, you know, have one when you’re inyour room or whatever, you can always come get me.”

Brooke smiled softly and hugged him. “I’m so lucky I haveyou around,” and with that, he let Vanessa go to his room, sighing as hewatched him go, unaware that he was not alone for long until the person besidehim spoke.

“What was the nightmare about, anyway?” Nina asked.

There was a tightness in his chest as Brooke Lynn recalledthe nightmare. His eyes drifted off back towards the elevator. “He got hurt.”

“Brooke Lynn, I keep telling you, everyone would understandif you needed to sit this show out. You don’t look up to it,” Vanessa let outan exasperated sigh, trying to coerce Brooke away from the door and back intobed where he clearly needed to be.

Brooke huffed and picked up his bag. “Vanjie, I’m fine, Ipromise,” he assured unsuccessfully. “It’s probably just jet lag, maybe a coldor something…”

“See? You’re too sick to even keep ya damn lies straight,”Vanessa frowned, though he had come to realize that there was no talking BrookeLynn out of this. “Okay fine, but I’m pulling the plug as soon as you start to loseit,” he warned as they left to the venue.

Brooke Lynn was not doing much better by the time he was indrag. He did his makeup with extra blush, so he didn’t look so pale, and spent moretime covering the dark circles under his eyes. At least he looked better, hethought.

And for the most part, everyone seemed to believe that Brookewas feeling better. The primary exception still being Vanessa, who wasfollowing him around more like his mother than partner. “Have you eaten? Areyou staying hydrated? Maybe you should sit down.”

“You know, it’s kind of cute, the way Vanjie dotes on Brookelike that,” Yvie remarked to the other queens as they continued getting ready.

“Yeah, if Brooke don’t kill her first,” A’keria retorted,gesturing to how frustrated Brooke Lynn appeared to be, even though he was followingall of Vanessa’s orders.

Soon enough, the queens were called to the stage and theshow began. The big group number went off without a hitch, though Brooke Lynndid seem a little bitt off kilter. But she seemed to be waiting calmly for hissolo performance.

All of the other queens were backstage when it happened.There was a thud, and, for a moment, the crowd went silent before beingoverwhelmed with shouts of worry and confusion. Two stagehands had to carryBrooke Lynn off stage while a manager called for an ambulance. The same managerwent on to convincing the queens to stay put and go on with the show, andeveryone agreed except for Vanessa.

“You’re not going to win this,” A’keria explained to themanager. “You’re better off just putting him in a car and having someone followthe ambulance, or you’re going to need another one in about five minutes,” hewarned. Luckily, the manager obliged, and Vanessa was en route to the hospitalminutes later.

Vanessa had not calmed down by the time he got to thehospital. He ran right up to the front desk, “Has anyone brought in a six-foot-threeman in a blonde wig?”

“…Room 209…”

And with that, Vanessa headed in that direction, lettinghimself into Brooke Lynn’s room. He was no longer in drag, and his complexionhad returned to its normal color. Overall, Vanessa was relieved to see he wasin stable condition. “I’m gonna fucking kill you,” he greeted.

Brooke Lynn smiled weakly, waving with the arm still hooked upto the IV. “Okay, I deserve that,” he conceded. “I’m sorry, Vanjie. I shouldhave listened to you. I just…I didn’t want to admit I was biting off more thanI could chew, it makes me feel week.”

Vanessa shook his head as he walked over to him. “Youbeautiful idiot,” he murmured and kissed his forehead. “Now, what are you gonnado next time I try to tell you to take care of yourself?”

“Listen attentively, my darling,” Brooke cooed, takingVanessa’s hand with both of his and batting his lashes.

The doctor came in before Vanessa could answer, and since heonly saw him from behind, he asked “Oh, is this your wife?” in a friendly tone.

Vanessa turned around with a smile. “I sure am!” he answeredwhile Brooke Lynn tried desperately not to laugh.

我們都知道固態硬盤採用閃存顆粒NAND Flash作為存儲介質，所以它是固態硬盤中最重要的構成部分，其好壞也就決定著固態硬盤質量的好壞，NAND Flash是目前最常見的存儲芯片，當其存儲密度不斷提升的同時，成本也會變得越來越敏感，因為Flash閃存的成本取決於其芯片面積，所以如果可以在同一區域存儲更多數據，Flash將更具成本效益。所以我們使用的NAND Flash從SLC發展到了現如今的TLC，以及即將大批量出貨的QLC。

我們常見的閃存類型主要有SLC、MLC、TLC、QLC這幾種，在SLC閃存中，每個存儲單元僅存儲一位信息，這使得讀取單元格更快捷，因為磨損的影響小所以壽命比較長，但價格較較高；MLC閃存每個存儲器單元存儲兩位信息，讀取速度和壽命都低於SLC，但價格也便宜2到4倍；TLC閃存每個存儲器單元存儲3位信息，相比於前者更適合消費級使用，而QLC閃存則是每個存儲器單元能夠存儲4位信息以存儲更多的信息，所以我們可以看到目前採用QLC閃存的SSD容量基本都是TB起步，三星的860 QVO最高甚至可以達到4TB的容量。

除了三星以外，美光在QLC閃存方面也是動作頻頻，美光是最早大規模量產3D QLC閃存的廠商之一，根據其發布的財報數據來看，美光上季度用於固態硬盤的3D QLC閃存出貨量環比增長了75 ％，足以可見QLC閃存的市場競爭力，畢竟它的價格優勢是TLC和MLC閃存所無法比擬的。

SK海力士在今年6月推出了業內首款128層TLC 4D NAND Flash，並宣稱已經開始批量生產，容量為1Tb，目前閃存製造廠商主要是集中提高96層3D NAND，而SK 海力士推出的128層4D NAND是目前業界最高的垂直堆疊高度，具有超過3600億個NAND單元，在96層NAND的基礎上堆疊多達32層實現128層堆疊，它最大優勢是小芯片尺寸，使其能夠實現1Tb超高密度的NAND Flash。同時，在1.2V時實現了1400Mbps的數據傳輸速率，可以為終端市場提供高性能和低功耗的移動解決方案和企業級SSD解決方案，預計將在2020年面世。

SK海力士全球銷售與營銷負責人Jong Hoon Oh表示“SK海力士通過128層4D NAND確保了其NAND業務的競爭力，憑藉該產品在業界的最高堆疊和容量密度，我們將在合適的時間為客戶提供各種解決方案。”

QLC壽命和性能已無需擔心

在2D NAND閃存時代，閃存製造廠商為了追求NAND容量的提升，需要不斷提升NAND製程工藝，但在3D NAND時代，提升NAND容量靠的不是微縮製程工藝了，而是靠堆棧的層數，我們以TLC閃存為例，其問世於2D NAND閃存時代，遭遇了諸多壽命、性能上的考驗，最初發布的TLC閃存P/E壽命只有100-150次，但是隨著NAND技術的進步、糾錯技術的改良，P/E壽命不斷提升，逐漸被市場所接受並且發展成為主流，在3D NAND時代的QLC閃存在可靠性上跟2D NAND時代的TLC、QLC完全不同，P/E壽命已經不再是我們需要擔心的問題。

目前主流的QLC閃存已經能夠實現1000PE的壽命，這已經與TLC閃存SSD沒有差距，並且目前三星、美光、英特爾等廠商的量產QLC閃存，均提供了3到五年的質保，所以不用對它的壽命存在擔心。

我們都知道由於內部工作機制以及結構的原因，SSD的IO性能和4K性能要遠好於機械硬盤，我們以三星的860QVO為例，在空盤的情況下讀寫也是雙雙到了500MB/s以上，4K性能約91K和86K IOPS，相當不錯，這對日常的PC小文件以及遊戲的讀取速度非常有幫助，在寫入數據超出其緩存區大小以後，速度為100MB/s左右，依然遠遠強於機械硬盤，所以在SLC動態緩存承受範圍內，QLC閃存SSD的使用體驗與TLC閃存SSD是沒有區別的。

PCIe 4.0助力大容量QLC SSD普及

群聯在新技術方面一直處於業界領先地位，旗下的PS3111-S11T搭配美光N18 64層堆疊3D QLC，S13T、E13T搭配東芝BiCS4 96層堆疊3D QLC，為存儲廠商打造更大存儲容量的QLC SSD做好了充足的準備。

TLC閃存目前佔據著85%的NAND市場需求，由於製造成本的原因，MLC、SLC已經基本退出市場，這也就意味著QLC閃存的SSD已經開始面向市場，走進了尋常百姓家，畢竟實實在在的優惠價格擺在那裡，更便宜的價格換來更大的容量，沒人願意拒絕。

我們現行的PCIe 3.0規範，信號速率為8GT/s，編碼方式是128b/130b模式，即每傳輸128個Bit，需要發送130個Bit。那麼，PCIe 3.0協議的每一條Lane支持8 * 128 / 130 = 7.877 Gbps = 984.6 MB/s 的速率，一條PCIe 3.0 x16的通道，x16的可用帶寬為7.877*16 = 126.031 Gbps = 15.754 GB/s，雙向帶寬高達31.5GB/s。而PCIe 4.0，則是將這個帶寬再翻一倍。帶寬越大，能夠瞬間傳輸的數據也就越多，這意味著新的芯片Lane４條就可以達到８條甚至16條的能力，所以NVMe 協議的SSD才能做出容量更大，速度更快的產品。

讓我們回到開頭的PCIe 4.0 SSD，在今年五月份的台北電腦展上，群聯發布了業界首款PCIe 4.0 SSD主控，PS5016-E16，這是群聯目前的旗艦產品，也是消費應用市場上領先業界且唯一的PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe SSD 控制芯片。

採用 28nm 製程且搭載最新的 96 層 3D NAND 閃存以及第四 代的 LDPC 糾錯引擎，群聯 PS5016-E16 控制芯片最高效能達到 5GB/s，這也是目前SSD所能達到的最快速度了。

技嘉也藉著這次機會在台北電腦展上給我們放了個大招，展示了旗下8TB基於群聯E16主控的PCI-e 4.0 AIC SSD，讀取速度達到了15000MB/s。除此之外，美商海盜船，影馳，等都推出了基於群聯PCI-e 4.0 E16主控的固態硬盤，讀寫速度均到了4.0GB/s以上，並且目前已經發售。

隨著5G物聯網時代的來臨，預計在2-3年的時間，家庭使用場景下啟用數據互聯​​的設備將急劇增加，PC將有可能成為個人服務器和數據處理中心的存在，而個人PC數據處理中心需求也將會漸漸浮現，有不少科研機構預計了我們未來的存儲使用場景，未來更可能是以500GB左右的TLC或者MLC閃存盤來做系統主盤，用2TB或者更大的QLC固態硬盤當做倉庫盤這樣便能完美的發揮各自優點，避開不足，而再加上PCIe 4.0的背書，勢必將會給我們的使用體驗帶來巨大變革。

PCIe4.0 SSD雖然聽著很美好，但它缺點也是實實在在存在的，因為目前要使用它的話需要升級一整套硬件，而且SSD本身的價格也相當昂貴，目前還只能遠觀，但隨著個人PC數據吞吐的速度需求的增加，以及配套硬件的逐漸完善，產生規模效應後，成本將會進一步降低，到那時相信它就能飛入尋常百姓家了。

Everyone could see that Brooke Lynn and Vanessa were stillin love with each other, painfully so. But they were so stubbornly set in theirways that neither of them would make the first move. Would they still have sexwith each other? Sure, but they’d swear it meant nothing to anyone that caughtthem.

Perhaps it wasn’t the most well-thought-out plan, but itcame from a good place. The other queens just wanted them to be happy, or atleast own up to their feelings. The first attempt consisted of Nina and A’keriatrying to forge Brooke and Vanessa’s handwriting to make it seem like they’dreceived love letters from the other, but they called their bluff almostimmediately.

Plan B was to invited them out to dinner, only for them to bethe only ones that show up. It almost worked – they talked and had a nice time –but there was still no reconciliation.

“So, what’s plan c?” A’keria asked, somewhat discouraged.

Nina’s brows knitted and he rubbed his hands together as hethought. “I don’t know, but we’re running out of time. Once the tour ends, they’reon their own,” he answered. “At this point, I don’t know what else we can dobut hope they’ll get over themselves.”

A’keria laughed and rolled hiseyes. “And that ain’t about to happen.”

“I’m gonna miss this,” Brooke murmured as he lay down on thebed in Vanessa’s hotel room. “We’ve got such a good system worked out,” he rolledonto his side and draped his arm over Vanessa’s torso and kissed the side ofhis head.

Vanessa scooted closer to him without getting up. “Yeah,gonna suck having to wake up in an empty bed every morning,” he pouted. “But atleast we won’t constantly have everyone up in our business, you know?”

Brooke nodded with a laugh. “Yeah, that’s gonna be a relief.Everyone seemed so deadest on making our business theirs. Gotta give themcredit for trying, though,” he mused.

“They really tried to trick us into a Lady and the Tramptype moment,” he recalled with a grin. “Them and everyone else is just waitingfor us to get back together or some shit.”

Both of them had been aware of their friends’ antics for awhile now. It was endearing, when it wasn’t irritating, anyway. But Brooke shrugged,leaning over and kissing lightly along Vanessa’s neck. “Would it be the worstthing in the world, though?” he mused absentmindedly.

Vanessa looked at him curiously. “You tell me. It’s beenyour hang-up, so,” he pointed out, playing with Brooke’s hair and letting hiscurls loop around his fingers. “I’ve been well behaved.”

Brooke couldn’t help but laugh. “Vanjie, you have never beenwell behaved in your entire life and I don’t expect you to start now,” hekissed lazily along Vanessa’s chest. “But I’ve been thinking about it. That’swhy I didn’t fall into any of the traps,” he explained.

“Because you wanted to do it on your own terms?”

“Exactly,” Brooke looked up and nodded. “And yours, ofcourse,” he quickly added. This had been the way he wanted to reunite all along– in quiet privacy where they could just talk it out like adults instead offlighty teenagers.

“Okay,” Vanessa grinned. “But I don’t wanna tell no one yet,they’ll be all like, ‘I told you so’ and shit,” he chuckled, tilting Brooke’schin up and kissing him lightly.

Brooke smiled against his lips. “Sounds fair to me,” hehummed before kissing him again. Everyone else could put the pieces togetherthemselves, serves them right for all their meddling.
