Crowely AND Cas dying for a completely useless, failed, and honestly kind of evil plan to trap Lucifer in Apocalypse World (so what they have to deal with TWO Lucifers now???) is so stupid. I hate this show. What was it for. Fuck all.
#genuinely kinda pissed off#no plot relevance. no payoff to character arcs. STUPID.#spn liveblog#s11 and s13 high contenders for worst season finales in my book#only because I haven't seen s15 yet lmao

we're on s13 now and i haven't been liveblogging as much as usual because instead i am just constantly saying to my babe 'wow look how cute sammy is :)' and making him go back 10 seconds so we can watch sam smile cutely or get punched/thrown around/choked

I have been enjoying your live blogs immensely even though i myself don't have enough context for late late seasons. Since you've been going through it recently, I am curious to know how you view early s13 episodes that get called "widower arc" by d/c shippers. They really bring it as the proof that Dean CANNOT live without Cas, while he can move on from Sam but now that I'm reaching there, I'm a bit confused 'cause Dean lost more than just Cas at end of s12? I would love to know your thoughts on this part of the show because I still get a bit of anxiety about watching any further...
hello beloved anon omg i'm so pleased someone is getting something out of my liveblogging <3 haha. sorry it took me a little while to get to this - it feels like actually forever since i watched 12/13 and i'll admit right now that i was not watching them with my full focus. so take that into consideration haha
but okay i would not worry about watching further. the show does not suddenly become a destiel fest in late late seasons - if anything i feel like it's this strange combination of "ah shit we should do something with castiel" and "we can't actually think of anything to do with castiel" so he's THERE, but like, irregularly. and while NOW, in 15 (maybe also late 14? they blur) there is starting to be some "ok they're setting up for cass to have confirmed romantic feelings for dean" it's very much... uh... in the background. genuinely doing my best to be objective and use neither my wincestie goggles OR my destiel-hater goggles but silly domestic brothers are definitely still at the forefront and i assume that will remain the same up to the finale.
as for a widower arc... um, well, again my memories of early s13 are not super crystal clear. i actually had to go back and rewatch a little to remind myself what was going on because i forgot cass even died then lol. you know where my focus is. but like you said anon dean lost so much at the end of 12 and like, in general that whole season was kind of a headwreck. i think he was already in a bad place and then lost yet another person that had been in his life long-term. we KNOW dean doesn't do well losing anything that's been in his life for a while which makes complete sense given, you know, his life. lol. he's cut up about cass because he has lost yet another friend. nothing about it suggests "widower" to me - ESPECIALLY not compared to how he "coped" whenever he lost sam. again, trying my best to be objective but i don't see it, lol. i think it's a fanon interpretation that suits the ship, which is fine if you're into it but if you're not - like, i wouldn't be watching it going "god damn, i wasn't a destiel believer before, but dean is clearly grieving him like a widower! the scales have fallen from my eyes! deancas forever" lmao
also, like, when they ARE reunited the response is kind of tragically one-sided dkfjgh. dean is happy to have him back clearly but their relationship settles down again very fast and dean goes back to like. uh. what i personally can't read as anything other than viewing cass as one or two shades more important than like, the family dog. SORRY i know that's harsh and they are friends. but their interactions are so sparse and dean is so unbothered lately lmao which you cannot convince me is down to repression. he just has other priorities!!!! (sammy)
okay i hope this wasn't too incoherent. don't worry about watching further!! there are tangents like there have been for the last like, 10 seasons but all in all. it's brothers front and centre forever. and there are enough sweet moments imo to keep you going even when the show is not so good (been saying this to myself since like, s7. if i can do it anyone can do it). just think of the 14x12 hug. all things are possible through the power of the 14x12 hug

Gunnerkrigg Liveblog #7: Oh yeah, I have a Tumblr liveblog
Ah, it's good to have university off my plate for the next little while. I should probably check my email for notifications to see what's...
Oh.
I thought I had forgotten something over the past... nine months. I'm sorry.
But the best way to make up for my absence isn't to just say sorry, it's to actually be present for a change. So let us pick up Gunnerkrigg Court where I last left off.
Chapter 12 is titled "Mainly Involves Robots" (12.200), and I assume that it at least partially involves robots. It begins (12.201) by having Annie discuss some things she's learned about Shadow 2 (c.f. Chapter 8 for who that is):

And not only that, but Kat even made a machine that gives Shadow 2 a voice (12.202). Good work, Kat!
After this, we finally get to the robots we were promised in the chapter's title. Annie discusses her past attempts to speak with the robots she encountered on the bridge (c.f. Chapter 7 for what that's about). I also must admire the robots' "ability" to keep their door hidden from the curious public (12.205):

Genius. But when Annie decides to go up to the door again, this time with Reynardine by her side, she comes up with an even more genius idea (12.209):

Truly, this is a battle of wits.
Of couse, this works perfectly, and Annie is let inside. She requests to see "Robot 13," apparently more properly called "S13," but unfortunately, it appears that S13 has been disassembled as a criminal, but his AI survives (12.212), so Annie goes to see it. It's a long hallway, so Reynardine turns from a plushie into a full-blown beastie (12.214). I... didn't know he could do that.
They finally get to their destination, and Reynardine smashes open some glass where S13's CPU is being stored (12.216). This triggers a security system to respond, forcing Annie to run away with the stolen CPU in hand (12.217).

I love how politely naive these robots are. As they escape, the next page (12.218) indicates that all of the robots here think like this.
Once they make it back, Kat analyzes the CPU her friends stole for her (12.220), and plugs it into a device that can allow the late Robot 13 to speak to them. It works, and S13 begins referring to Annie as "mommy." Annie asks what happened to S13 on the bridge, and they (I'll go with "they" until I see different pronouns in-universe) explain how they lost an arm, ran off into the forest, got a seed planted in the hole where their arm was, woke up months later, got possessed by a "shadow man," and then interacted with Annie on that bridge (12.223).
Reynardine, upon hearing this, starts explaining that Annie might have started something bad with that little trip to the woods (12.224):

He warns that his "fool cousin" might retaliate, but when Annie asks what he's talking about, Reynardine retvrns to plushie (12.225).
Annie, Kat, and S13 have one somewhat heartwarming moment (12.226), and with that, the chapter ends!
Anyways, have a happy Wednesday, and I will see you next in 2045. I kid, of course.

dean had some really good scenes at the end of s12 and i almost started mildly liking him again but then the first eps of s13 came in like a sledgehammer and just ruined the tiny amount of development he got (again)
also just the fucking galls of the narrative to write sam saying “you (dean and castiel) saved me!” “when i needed them my family was there for me!” when both castiel and dean did everything but help him
“you saved me” oh yeah dean saved him when he locked him in a bunker, called him a monster to his face, threatened to kill him and told him to never come back, and “you saved me” when castiel lied about lilith being the final seal for a whole year and blamed sam for killing her as if castiel didn’t actively push sam into doing it
both constantly remind sam of his mistakes and blame him for everything without bringing up their own parts in the whole apocalypse mess and sam never does it back, like he never throws dean’s mistakes and regrets in his face and sam’s often the first one to defend castiel when he’s doing something on his own while dean wants to punch him
and why is dean so mopey about castiel being dead as if no one on this show has come back to life before?? and whenever castiel is around dean just bullies, berates and tells him off anyway so what, he’s missing his punching bag?
make it make sense
#supernatural#s13 liveblog#dean critical#sam love club#iben spoke#i love this show but i'm also just mad when watching it lol#him acknowledging that shit happened TO sam things that he were NOT responsible for was just. YES. a step in the right direction#and then jk <3 i'm still a dick#omfg the rants i have in my head#the fact that they still bring this up 8 YEARS LATER is mindblowing#while ignoring most of s6-10 when dean pulled a lot of crap

Your name is VRISKA SERKET.
Her name is Vriska Serket!!!
And wow, her place is a mess.
I kind of expected her to be a neat-freak, since her personality screams ‘perfectionist’ - but maybe she thinks mundane tasks are ‘beneath her’. She has bigger fish to fry.
I'd recognize a character sheet anywhere. Vriska probably min-maxes her characters like crazy, and I’d give my right arm to see what busted nonsense she’d make in D&D.
Your lusus is VERY HUNGRY, ALL THE TIME. She can only be appeased by the FLESH OF YOUNG TROLLS.
Wow, what the fuck?
I’ll admit, the thought of what lusi eat hadn’t crossed my mind. Trolls are the last thing I’d have expected, but I’m not sure why. It gels perfectly with what we already know about Alternia.
Even as infants, these poor creatures are forced to fight for their lives in their brooding caverns, and it sounds like those trials don’t end when they emerge. Nepeta’s PoV wasn’t kidding - on Alternia, everyone is unsuspecting prey for everyone else. Even your friends’ parents want to kill and eat you.
You cloud campaigns for teams of Flarpers, utilizing your abilities for ORCHESTRATING THE DEMISE OF THE IMPRESSSSSSSSIONA8LE. Your victories supply you with treasure, experience points, and SPIDER FOOD.
There’s a carnivorous spider who lives in Vriska’s house, and her PoV explicitly states that she has no choice but to murder her peers to appease the thing. She doesn’t say what will happen if she doesn’t, but does she need to?
This, very tragically, explains Vriska’s obsession with winning. To her, losing isn’t just weak - it means she’s going to die.
You are something of an APOCALYPSE BUFF, which is something you can be on Alternia. You are fascinated by end of the world scenarios, and enjoy constructing DOOMSDAY DEVICES for the hell of it.
I get it. If your life really sucks this bad, the apocalypse isn’t a disaster - it’s a welcome change of circumstances.
The complete collapse of social order on Alternia might actually improve a lot of trolls’ lives - Vriska included. It’s just unfortunate that the apocalypse they’re actually getting is such a destructive one.
You are drawn to means of DARK PROGNOSTICATION and the advantages they offer, particularly in gaming scenarios.
Dark forces don’t pursue Vriska - she pursues them. As I said before, she’s probably snooping on every troll in her telepathic range, although Sburb lore seems to have escaped her grasp.
Sorry, Vriska. You just weren’t destined to know - until tonight.
You consult with these ominous globes, but routinely destroy them in frustration over the PUZZLING GUARANTEED INACCURACY of their predictions.
8-balls in Homestuck actually have some utility, as we saw with Jade. Vriska seems pretty desperate for information, and I wonder if she’s looking for anything in particular - a way to escape her lot in life, perhaps?
She seems not to realize that guaranteed inaccuracy is extremely useful in itself. Maybe she’s just not thinking straight - she’s smashed dozens of the things.
#2195#homestuck liveblog#full liveblog#act 5#s13#vrish-ka sur-KET#i'd gloat about figuring out AG was vriska but 1. come on. and 2. i originally thought she was terezi#edit: cat says you're welcome for getting me to post Vriska on 8/8 lol
