i know it’s lowkey so obvious but the double entendre of kelly telling pascal “i’m the only person in this firehouse, maybe the only person in this world, who knows how far you’re willing to go for monica” has me vibrating at frequencies that could shatter glass. i don’t need to talk about it BUT IM GONNA
bc like. y e a h. on one hand, kelly is quite literally the only one who knows about pascal’s implications of being the one that set bishop’s car on fire after his blackmail/threats. the only person kelly would’ve told about it is stella, but she clearly has no idea judging by her beliefs that pascal wouldn’t resort to violence. so there’s that
and then, well, kelly isn’t that different himself, is he? kelly, who not only stuck a pike pole in cotner’s back when he had stella at gunpoint, but tried to drive it deeper, and admittedly, probably would’ve killed the guy had pryma not shown up when he did (yes, he did it out of self-defense/protection, but still worth noting methinks). kelly, who almost got into a fight with swat for not letting him through at the rpg scene, and he probably would’ve gotten into one had boden not told him to stand down. kelly, who got right in the guy’s face during the crossover and potentially would’ve said or done a lot nastier had herrmann not stepped in. “i can unravel when it comes to you. that’s never happened to me before”
so yeah. is it at least a little hypocritical for kelly to tell pascal not to do anything drastic? maybe just a bit. but that’s what makes the scene all that more interesting. and between stella and kelly’s conversation in her office, and his and pascal’s, it’s such a wonderful display of his character growth <3
#i’m gonna be thinking sm about last night’s episode for the foreseeable future#i need several business days to recover from it#M A N#kelly severide#stella kidd#stellaride#dom pascal#chicago fire

I find it INTERESTING that Kylies reasoning for not coming to 51 is that she needed to find her own way/path at a different house to gain the respect of her peers because they were calling her mini kidd as if because she came up under Stella's wing she had a leg up or advantage.
Yet, they didn't seem to take that same approach or line of thinking when it came to Jack Damon. Damon shouldn't want to be at 51, nor getting references from his brother for admission to a course. He should want to work for it, earn it, prove to himself & others that he can earn his wings on his own merit.
The Kylie concept sort of parrales what Carver implied to Stella in 11x01. She got her promotion because of her connection to DC Hill versus the hard work she put in to earn her position. And THATS my issue with this show & its writers.
Whether it's intentional or not, it continues to feed into this narrative that the POC CHARACTERS have to prove themselves & go at alone in order to be deemed worthy of the accomplishments. (Kelly was supposed to help Stella & because a bigot at HQ thought she was getting a leg up because of her connection to Kelly he completely iced her out. Shaking her confidence, making her question everything, and ultimately telling Boden to pull her name from the list). That the moment they have someone who LOOKS like them in their corner (Stella with Kylie & DC Hill/Boden with Stella) their hard work is now invalid and their seat at the table was just given to them versus earned.
Yet non POC characters such as Sam Carver,Jack Damon & Christopher Hermann get to lean on privilege, audacity & nepotism to earn their seat at the table and NOBODY blinks a fucking eye. The same Kelly that ghosted his GF in S9 because he didn't want the brass to think she didn't "earn" it on her own. The same Kelly Severide that recused himself from trying to help find his FIANCE a permanent house in S10, is the SAME Kelly Severide that got pissy with Cruz in 13x01 when he brought up that working with a brother can be tricky. The same Kelly that lied to his WIFE to cover for Damon, a brother he hadn't even known for a 6 months, let alone a year. Same Kelly, who put in a good word for him at 20 after he got booted from 51 & threw a mini tantrum. Same Kelly, who asked Pascal to bring him back to 51, and then agreed to give a reference for that course.
It's very triggering to me because everyone's clapping as if they did something exemplary when, in reality, they didn't work nearly as hard, make nearly as many sacrifices as the likes of Kylie Estavez or Stella Kidd yet they still get to enjoy the wins. While Kylie & Stella have to continue to "prove," they deserve it that they earned it.
Kylie shouldn't be holding herself back from working at a house she literally GREW up in just because people think Stella Kidd is her saving grace. Kylie (like Stella) worked her ass off. She was in high school, doing the GOF program & working at the firehouse to help support her family due to Covid. She took the exam, she passed, and she should be allowed to be at a house that helped build out that capability in her without an implication that she got a leg up because of it.
Kelly mentioned in episode 18 that FH 20 kicked his ass but it didn't land because we didn't SEE it. Just like we didn't see Hermann putting in any effort for the captains exam but he just passed. We've seen him put no effort into being chief, yet somehow it's supposed to be some showdown between him & Pascal for the seat at the table? I can't stand Pascal, but he is a CHIEF. He makes the tough calls nobody else wants to make & he stands in them, right wrong or indifferent.
Hermann told Boden in 18 that if the white shirts were looking for a head to roll, he hoped it wasn't any of theirs. Whereas Pascal told Boden I'm coming with you because if they want someone to blame, they should see MY FACE. There's a clear distinction in both of those thought processes, and honestly, only one of them would I want leading me into a dire situation.
If you can't see or understand that concept, then I'm sorry if this offends you, but you are CHOOSING to be wilfully complicit to systemic inequality that the POC characters on this show have been put through compared to their non POC counterparts.
It bothers me that in one breath, this show can recognize, call out & bring awareness to the disparity within the CFD as it relates to POC/WOC in it yet when given the opportunity to overcome that perception they chose to reinforce it even more.

As much as I hate seeing Pascal questioning Stella’s leadership skills - I’m actually glad that they showed us that. Because unfortunately it’s a situation that many women face everyday, especially when they work in male dominated environment. Because it’s that simple: for a white old guy another white guy in charge is the most natural thing ever. Woman who works at the same place and has the same position? Woman of colour on top of that? He thinks that something is not right. Obviously he will question her methods, how she got that position, will put her every single decision under the microscope. He will look for the tiniest mistake and will overlook her achievements.
It’s situation that so many of us experienced first hand and now since new chief isn’t as wise and confident as Boden was, Stella is experiencing it now (thanks to Boden she forgot how some men act towards women in CFD and before she was “just” a firefighter, now she’s an officer).
I’m glad he took some time and changed his opinion about her (even a little) but it’s sad that another white guy had to basically shove the files into his arms. Speaking of leadership skills - not your best work, Dom. Should’ve started with that! Get to know your officers - professionally, not only about their personal life (he had time to find out that Stella and Kelly are married but apparently didn’t have enough time to read her files 🙄)
I’m not naive - I don’t think that now chief Pascal will treat her the same way he treats Herrmann and Severide, but I hope that at least he will be less prejudiced towards her

Masochist: Dom Pascal x Reader
Tagging: @kmc1989 @buckysteveloki-me @emma-dawson @noxytopy @toasted-stiletto
Companion piece to:
Slutty - You remind Dom that he has a wife to come home to.

You’re messing with him. Dom knows it the moment he plunges his hand into the pocket of his work trousers and discovers the hot pink pair of panties bundled up inside, still damp from your pussy. He’s at the start of the shift discussing the agenda and trying his best not to get a hard on as his fingers skim over the fabric.
It isn’t until he gets back to his office, the door closed and locked, that he takes them out of his pocket and spreads them out on the desk. You were wearing these this morning before he left, bent over the kitchen island in one of his shirts trying to entice him to stay. He’d left you pouting because he’d promised you the day off together in bed but he’d been called in to cover someone else’s shift. It’s the nature of the job, you’re no stranger to it. You have to do the same as a police captain with the CPD but it doesn’t stop you torturing him, especially since you’re about to be absent from his life for the next couple of days because of a law enforcement conference in LA.
He takes a picture of the underwear sending it to you with the message. “What am I supposed to do with these?”
Don’t care, you respond, it’s the only thing you’ll be fucking over the next few days so have fun with them.
Yea, you’re still pretty pissed he picked up that phone. He could have let it go to voicemail but that sense of duty it’s ingrained into him, it always has been.
It’s not about the sex, he gets that. It’s about the intimacy, about spending time together where the focus is squarely on each other instead of the chaos of your professional lives. Instead he gets to spend the next 24 hours fighting fires when he should be fucking his wife senseless before seeing her off at the airport.
What the fuck is wrong with me? He asks himself before slipping the panties into the top drawer of his desk. It’s like he’s some sort of masochist.
You don’t communicate with him much over the next few days. Just a couple of texts to let him know you landed safely, that you got to your hotel. He knows those law enforcement conferences have a work hard, play hard mentality. You’ll be attending seminars by day, networking over drinks by night, he tries not to focus too much it otherwise he’ll get himself all twisted up. Instead he works on his game plan, how he’s going to make this whole thing up to you.
He's supposed to be on a shift when you get back into Chicago instead you find him waiting for you at the airport with a fully loaded sign that reads Ms Pascal. There’s rainbow bubble writing with glitter, and heart stickers, the full nine yards and the perfect contrast to your no-nonsense husband who still has marker staining his fingertips and gold smeared across his cheek.
“I’m an asshole.” He tells you as you step towards him, your rolling suitcase bouncing on the tiles behind you. “A hopeless workaholic who doesn’t deserve a wife as sexy as you.”
“You are saying all the right things to get back in my good graces.” You tell him as your lace your fingers around his neck and press your mouth to his. He tastes like peppermint from the mints he always keeps in his jacket, the ones he crunches between his teeth because he quit smoking two decades ago but still needs something to take off the edge. His arms wrap around your body, drawing you close, his mouth firm and unrelenting as it claims yours. You moan at the sensation, raising up on tip toes so you can press closer.
“I swear to God, if you tell me you have a shift tonight you will be sleeping on the couch for the rest of your life.” You whisper as his forehead comes to rest upon yours.
“No not tonight, tonight I’m all yours” He rumbles, his thumb trailing over your cheek. “I haven’t touched myself since you left, I wanted to save it for you.”
It’s an act of penance for ruining that perfect day the two of you were planning, you don’t get off, he doesn’t get off. Dom, he’s good like that.
“Oh baby.” You tease, linking your fingers through his as the two of you head towards the parking garage. “I’m not gonna make it easy on you, you know that right? I have a lot of frustration to work out, the handcuffs might even come out to play…”
“Do your worst honey.” He murmurs against your temple, thinking about the silver bracelets he’s already left on the nightstand. “I’m at your mercy tonight.”

Ok, apparently I’m the only one but I felt exactly nothing when Monica died. Nada. Zero.
And the way Dermot was acting? Sorry, but it wasn’t good at all.
Next episode looks promising with him spiralling and not grieving in a healthy way, but other than that I don’t care that he lost his wife. I like KaDee and I’m gonna miss her - but I’m gonna miss her because I like the actress, not because I’m gonna miss the character she was playing. We barely saw her so why would I care for her?
I always say that dead body makes the show more alive and it seems that Pascal arc will show us new side of him. But tonight’s episode made me happy about Stellaride, irritated by Damon and totally meh about Pascal’s storyline.
Call me insensitive or simply give me better storylines
#Dom Pascal#CF#Chicago Fire#I really don’t care about that arc#and I don’t care about Pascal#Stellaride#Stellaride baby

Power is still not on and I watch things instead of writing, but I kind of think I might write something where Pascal tells severide what Damon did attempting to sell Kidd under the bus
Also, do we know if Pascal knows if Damon is Kelly‘s brother or not because if I’m Pascal I’m gonna wonder why rescue squad is hanging out with a truck person
