Accidents at workplaces are generally caused by poorly installed scaffolding. The workers who are not able to work on a strong base will certainly face risks. To ensure safety and efficiency at the workplace, following some of the steps that will help you have secure and stable scaffolding in London is very important.

Day 1 (3/3)
Barren Light
Finally, Vuadis arrived in Barren Light on the tail of his vanguard escort. The priest walked to the parapets to look out over the west, hopefully to start preparing his blessing or whatever ritual the situation demanded. I made my way inside the fortress to help speed things along.

The gates were shut, as I expected. Erend had made his way there safely, if not soberly. Might not have been the best time to try and smooth things over considering Erend's propensity for anger and self-loathing when drunk. It was clear that he'd chosen to take my dedication to my mission personally, for some reason. He seemed convinced not only that he was a useless lug of junk, but that I thought so too. I assured him that wasn't true, and I think he heard how pitiable he was sounding and told it to me straight: whenever I need him, he'll be there. I appreciate that, I really do, but I can't drag Erend into all this. He's captain of the vanguard, he has people counting on him. He has a life. I'll preserve it, but I can't be a part of it.
Switching from a sore subject, Erend told me more about Barren Light, still stained in the blood of Tenakth captives dragged over the border to languish here before transport to Meridian. He confirmed his purpose here to escort Fashav home after handing over a bunch of valuable goods to his captors, though it was clear he wouldn't be taking part in the embassy in his injured, drunken state. In fact, the entire vanguard was to stay well out the way of the Carja military and dignitaries. Best not to confuse the political landscape with the presence of another tribe. Except one wayward Nora, of course.

At the gates, I met Lawan, second in command here at Barren Light. I was hoping he'd be first, given how calm and reasonable he seemed, but no such luck. He led me up the scaffolding to meet his superior, Nozar.

Nozar and Vuadis stood together on the parapet belittling the Tenakth 'savages' they were forced to deal with. Great first impression.
Surprise, there was another delay to the embassy, this time nothing to do with Vuadis. The Tenakth were meant to send representatives from all three of their clans, but only two had arrived to erect their banner. To open the gates and proceed early would signal haste and disrespect to the Tenakth's terms. I missed the part where that was my problem.

Nozar refused to open the gates, yelling down at his subordinates guarding the way to bar the exit to all, saviour or not.

The guards wanted to let me through, torn between direct orders and a request from the saviour, which I implied was soon to turn to threat, then to violence. Nozar ordered them to arrest me, which would have been a sight to see—all of Barren Light up against the Saviour of Meridian. I called his bluff—there was no way they could win.
During my efforts to get through, the sentries called out an approaching machine rider, and I turned to see Varl; turned back, more determined to get through than ever. He made better time than I'd expected.
Erend came to the guards' rescue, invoking the sun kings name and putting the fear of god in Nozar. Why didn’t I think of that?
It was true, if word got back to Avad that Nozar had tried to stop me, things wouldn't go well for him.

Finally, Nozar relented and I was allowed through the gates, but not before Varl followed me. Thankfully he didn’t harp on about my leaving him in Meridian, and I was glad I didn’t have to come up with an apology. How can I make him see that I’m doing this for his own good? Fortunately, he brushed it off as well, and we stepped out into the Forbidden West.

The Tenakth waiting at the border were rumour incarnate. Step further only on pain of death, how dare the Carja send a 'child' to parlay, various other threats...I tried to explain, but they wouldn't listen—really didn't like my assertion that I was going west to save all their lives. One among them spoke out before things got truly heated, recognising Varl's Nora attire and my true identity.

It was the Unyielding Fashav himself. He'd heard all about the saviour of Meridian, so knew there was some truth to my intentions in the west. After what Avad told me, I'd been expecting a wounded, emaciated prisoner broken after years held prisoner by the Tenakth. Instead, Fashav looked just about as Tenakth as the rest of them, barring skin left half bare. Looked strong too, and said he would grant me rite of passage through Tenakth lands if I explained my true purpose here.
I had some questions of my own first. Curiosity got the better of me; how did a Carja soldier captured as a raider end up one of their 'Marshals'? Fashav explained that term to me as well. The Marshals are essentially the Tenakth Chief's enforcers, diplomats, and magistrates all in one. They represent the Chief and the interests of their clan. As for how Fashav, a Carja prisoner, received such a high honor, it was a long story. Seeing as the third Tenakth clan were nowhere to be seen and the border was to be sealed until after the embassy, I elected to hear it.

After Fashav was captured, he was taken to the Tenakth capital, where he heard some among their tribe discussing the Kulrut, a trial by combat. Assuming it was a way to earn his freedom, when thrown before Chief Hekarro, he demanded this trial. While his wardens laughed, Hekarro took his demand seriously, and Fashav was thrown into the arena to do battle against many machines. Sounds a little familiar—and ironic, considering Fashav's heritage—except that challengers in the Kulrut are given weapons and a chance to survive. That he did, and in reward he was given, not his freedom, but a post as Hekarro's Marshal, sworn to serve the Chief with absolute loyalty.
The way he tells it, Fashav came to feel at home among the Tenakth, describing them as no more war-hungry than the Carja, especially now that Hekarro has united the clans as one force, where once they fought one another in constant skirmishes for resources, territory, and the sheer hell of it. He advised I seek out Hekarro as a powerful ally to enable my journey west; a courteous, reasonable man, if formidable. Yeah, I really don't plan on doing that, no matter how reasonable he is.
I finally explained the purpose of my journey: to bring an end to the blight, the storms, and the Derangement itself. I told him about the battle against Hades and the Eclipse—that it was only the beginning. This, he knew, as news of the invasion of Meridian and its apocalyptic proportions had reached him long ago, though he had thought the rumoured stakes overblown. With this, he agreed to hand over a small blade as a token, something to prove that I was backed in my quest by a Marshal, no less. Should help keep me out of trouble.
Fashav expressed his conflict at returning home to Meridian—joy, of course, to see his family and homeland, and a feather bed, but it would be a difficult adjustment. He planned to remain as close to Tenakth matters as he could, hoping to foster peace with the Carja. Given what he told me, I thought he could really help dispel the many unpleasant rumours about the Tenakth back east. Still not clear on whether they're true or not, to be fair, but it didn't seem like the best place to ask.

Soon after listening to Fashav's tale, the third clan arrived at the border, though their Marshal said they came without the knowledge of the Sky Clan's commander. Guess not everyone is on board with this whole 'peace with the Carja' arrangement. Finally, the Sky Clan erected their banner and sounded their horn, signalling the start of the embassy.

Out came the procession: guards carrying a cache of goods to be exchanged, with Nozar and Vuadis there to represent the Carja in the dialogue. What a fine idea. Vuadis took out his scroll and began reading in his awful, regal affect, but he didn't get far before a cry sounded from the ridge over the valley.

A Tenakth woman called out to Fashav, rage clear in her voice. She shamed the Marshals and Hekarro for making peace with those who butchered and enslaved their people for years, calling them traitors to the Tenakth. Regalla, Fashav told me—an old rival of Hekarro's.
The Sky Clan Marshal goaded Regalla, at which she revealed the fullness of her threat. A machine, new to me, but clearly overridden to fight for Regalla. She was too distant for me to scan for a possible Focus on her person, but as her fellow soldiers approached the brink with overridden Bristlebacks and Chargers in tow, one thing was clear. This was Sylens' doing.
You'd think that after building one cult with a machine army that failed to invade the Sundom, he'd call it quits. What the hell is he playing at? Was this trap set for me, or has he already lost control of Regalla, just as he lost control of Helis? Is Hades involved?
All questions I didn't have time to consider in the moment. I was expecting Sylens to continue acting on his own agenda, but not this. When I find him, he'll be sorry. It'll be a first, for him, but I'm up to the challenge.

As the Chargers and Bristlebacks charged down to the valley floor, a line of archers fired a barrage of flaming arrows from the ridge, striking down some of the Marshals and Carja soldiers. The Carja delegation turned and ran back toward the gates of Barren Light, pursued by machines. Varl and I tried to help the injured Marshals and usher the rest to cover. It was all I could do. One move into the open and I'd be pierced, set aflame. I had to cower behind the broken border gates and watch as Regalla's soldiers rounded up the Carja delegation and destroyed them.
The soldiers at Barren Light sealed the gates to protect the border. The Carja had nowhere to go. The soldiers on the battlements tried to target the stampede, but they barely made a dent in Regalla's forces.

Fashav fought well, charging fearlessly at the machines to unseat their riders and destroy them, but there were too many. He went down first, and then Nozar. Vuadis made it all the way to the gates, gripping the bars and begging to be let inside as an arrow pierced his back. I hated the guy, but no one deserves that.
As Regalla's army turned their attention to the Marshals, there was no choice but to fight.

The Marshal from the Sky Clan tried to hold off one of the Bristlebacks, but it caught his forearm in its grinding jaws and tore it from the joint. Another Marshal managed to pull him away from further harm.

I stayed behind the ruined gate to keep out of the archers' range, using knockdown arrows on the Chargers to unseat their riders and take them blade to blade on the ground. Setting off the Bristlebacks' acid canisters dealt with their riders, but I had a rough time avoiding their frenzied charging. My Pullcaster went to good use in grappling off the border gate, launching up and over the charging might of Bristlebacks coming from every direction. With corrosion eating at their armour, it wasn't long before my persistent chips and strikes destroyed them.
With the machines down, the fight was far from over. Many more stood atop the ridge beside Regalla. More than even I could deal with, but I wasn't about to let them know that. I called up to Regalla, wounding her courage and demanding a fair challenge. I gather that sort of thing is honoured among the Tenakth. It may not have worked on Helis, but it was worth a shot here.

Unfortunately, Regalla didn't take the bait. Instead, she sent down the commander Grudda as her champion. He announced himself as if I was somehow meant to know who he was. It quickly became clear that this was no ordinary Tenakth warrior. He had gadgets.

Grudda leapt from the cliff, then cast a shield of light above him, using it like a parachute to glide down safely. From the look of the light field, it was similar technology to my once-glorious Shield Weaver armour. Wonder if Sylens got any tips by watching me tinker with its tech.
Varl ran out to strike Grudda as he landed, but Grudda kicked him aside, then struck him again as Varl began to duel. I got between them before Grudda could do any worse, but Varl was downed and out.

Like my Shield Weaver, Grudda's shield deactivated then needed to recharge after sustaining enough blunt damage. I wore it down with arrows and blows from my spear, dodging lightning fast swings from Grudda's glowing sword—another toy from Sylens, I'll bet. He was born in the wrong time, truly—Sylens would have loved building war machines for Faro with no consideration of the harm they could cause, just for the joy of technological progress.

Once I managed to tear Grudda's helmet free with a hooked swipe of my spear, I shot him square through the skull; an old fashioned execution. He went down, and by Tenakth law, I had earned my life. I tried to goad Regalla down again, but she backed away. That's the great thing about these tribal traditionalist types—they bow to arbitrary ideas of honour. It's what makes them think they're better than everyone else.
I suppose Regalla had already achieved what she wanted out of this battle; an end to the embassy, and the deaths of every Carja and Tenakth 'traitor' involved.
With a final promise to topple the Carja empire, Regalla turned away and led the rest of her army with her. Going back to their camp further north? I should follow their tracks. The fact they were riding Bristlebacks and came southwards to the border made me suspect that the machines loose in the Daunt were their doing. Had they blasted a way through the mountains and launched the attack to destabilise the border lands? Maybe Javad's request is relevant to my mission after all. Certainly, I can't go charging forth to Sylens' coordinates, not now that his true activities have been revealed. I need to figure out what Regalla is doing and why—find out what exactly Sylens has been up to all this time in the west. I don't think he'll kill me outright, but there's no doubt he plans to use me...somehow.

Varl and I were the only survivors. His injuries were bad, but not life threatening. Mine weren't much tamer. There would be no chasing after Regalla's army tonight. We stumbled back to the gates, where Erend met us, clearly sobered by the show he just witnessed.

Once inside the fortress, Erend took over Varl's care, helping him into one of the sleeping quarters set aside for workers on the reconstruction. Varl knew I wouldn't wait for him. I'm sure he'd prefer I did, but he knew he'd be pushing his luck to try and stop me. What did I tell him? If you come with me, you'll get hurt. He got off easy this time. I'm the only one cut out for this—genetically, but practically too. Though he didn't know it, this was what Rost was training me for.

Night soon fell, and I had wounds of my own to attend to. Mostly shallow cuts from Grudda's blade and acid burns from canister explosions. Scrapes and bruises go without saying. I bedded down in the workers' quarters myself, though them being in repurposed slave cells made it a foreboding place to sleep.
I need to work out what Sylens is really up to. First stop, the caves in the Daunt where the Bristlebacks first broke through. If Regalla is planning a second attack by sending her armies through the breach, I need to put a stop to it before all of Chainscrape becomes her killing ground. I might even be able to take that route through to their base across the border. Probably safer then going through the front gate.

Hello 🖤 I love seeing your blog pop up in my feed, simply exquisite 🖤
I have a request. What would older Terry Silver do with an adult student who is rather boisterous in class, she listens but only when she wants, she's a smarty pants. Terry so wishes to teach her a lesson after many months of class passing, learning her mannerisms, learning HER. Ever the voyeur, finding her home, seeing what lies within when she's not home, Terry plans a little 'private lesson,' specifically for her at his home dojo. Ending with his gi sloppy on him, his hair a mess like the slut he is with his student underneath him with no mercy being shown. His student definitely listens to HIS wants and desires, eager to please.
Breaking Stone.
(Terry Silver x Reader)
---
-"How safe is this, Sensei? I mean, it’s solid rock."-
Your voice speaks up from the gathered crowd and Terry Silver, he knew you’d have something to say without having to turn his back towards the mass of students keenly eyeing his demonstration in silence, standing jam packed in a circle around the erected board with a concrete block fastened to the center of the scaffolding propped up on iron legs, following his every word like a mantra only for him predict that your mouth will eventually move to utter something and dare interrupt him. Class fifty eight. A lesson on Brick Breaking. Tools necessary; pretty straightforward. A slab of rock and a fist. Additional spices; your usual commentary in the midst of it all. Happened almost daily. Happened to the degree it was a constant he could count on. -"We’ll break our hands on that."- You add with a sense of urgency and worry once the entirety of the exercise’s participants turn their eyes towards you, scrutinizing, weighing and accessing what you just blurted out and you tended to blurt out stuff frequently. Terry joins them in their quiet staring, finding a twitch of satisfaction stir through him once he realized you were jittery and stuttering, made self aware through the fact you were the sudden center of attention. Needing to justify yourself for placing the spotlight unto yourself, you blurt out some more bullshit. Nerves, was it? You deserved that. Deserved much worse for stepping out of line. -"What do we do in case we tear our ligaments punching the board?"- You ask, scratching the back of your head. Ligaments? Were you frightened of getting a boo-boo? At that point, Terry allows himself to turn his entire body towards you, taking his time, slowly --- painfully slowly --- looking straight ahead, towards you. You shift, from one bare foot on the mat to the other, like the stillness of everything around you gave you a sense of discomfort.
Stew in it. He hoped you'd stew in it.
-"Seems a bit extreme. Sorry."-
You chuckle, apologizing, looking down. Then back up.
Terry has to chuckle with you, neatly folding his hands in front of him.
A bit extreme? It was meant to be extreme.
-"Our student here thinks our methods are strange, but these classes aren’t mandatory."-
He simply shrugs matter-of-factly, addressing the people around him, all eyes leave you and pinning themselves in his direction instead, encircling him like a tightly closed ring, listening attentively, leaving you even more isolated in your folly. The great mother hen and the ducklings. The one, solitary ugly black duck that talked too much. -"Nobody’s here by force."- He explains, and contrary to popular belief, everyone here gave their signature of consent on a written contract. Terms. Conditions. Price rates. Health insurances. They showed up to daily classes because they wanted to, giving their hard earned money out of their own volition. He didn't go kidnapping people off of the streets of LA and harassing them into black Gi, in spite of what the likes of Larusso tried to accuse him of, same way not even Larusso himself was harassed into this, decades ago. -"Or are you all here by force?"- Terry purses his lips, looking around, enjoying this far too much to stop. In unison, they all speak up, one voice, stemming from one collective lung. -"No, Sensei!"- The dojo resonates with their shout. He tries again, spreading his arms, envisioning himself like Pontius Pilate about to wash his hands clean of you and let the crowds make their decisions. -"Why are you here for then?"- He inquires, raising his voice, encouraging them. Spurring them on. -"To learn, Sensei!"- Obeying, they repeat the motion, letting out a united cry and content, Terry squeezes his fingers into a fist once they all fall silent, all but an echo remaining, his other free hand caressing the concrete block in front of him, never taking his eyes off of you. At this point, with a mouth standing agape, forgetting you should've joined everyone in their jubilant war cry, you were as pale as a ghost. Not quite so chatty or smart anymore.
Perfect.
-"The lesson is —"- He begins. -"A true artist of the craft spends years, even decades just hitting things. Sand. Wood. Stone. Metal. Flesh."-
Terry coos, confessing, that he did, on occasion, imagine hitting you.
The sweetest thing he'd ever strike. Purely to shut you up, get you the way you were right now; As quiet as the dead; all gulps and anxious little eyes darting left and right. Preferably having you bent over his knee like an unruly child and taking the bamboo stick to you bare buttocks until they were rendered crimson red with punishment. After it was all done, he'd have you thanking him for the honor too. He smiles, just at the notion; an expression he doesn't bother hiding.
-"Having been broken so many times, it makes their bones so dense that when it comes in contact with solid rock, the rock breaks first."-
Terry digs his teeth into his lower lip, taking his stance and lunging forward suddenly, knuckles breaking through the barrier of the rock and crumbling, his fingers pushing through the crack he made on the other side. It was as simple as that. -"Asaa!"- He bellows and if the dojo was collectively holding it's breath, once he's done, the remains of sharp jagged tiny pebbles spilling on the mat under around his feet like so many rolling marbles, he senses an equally collective exhale. He can swear you weren't blinking at that point. What were you shocked by? The fact that he just smashed through a brick that weighed ten pounds like it was nothing or the implication he's broken his hand by choice so many times that he could pull shit like this in the first place? Maybe it wasn't smart to backtalk or question the methods of a person who could crush your windpipes in with merely just his thumbs. -"So, you see — breaking our fists, it’s part of the curriculum."- He shakes his head, staring you down, taking a couple of steps forward, until it was undeniable he was addressing you in particular; his infuriatingly Doubting Thomas, ignoring the students that wordlessly volunteered to clean up, scooting down to pick up the unfortunate remains of the rock slab, chirping away at the remains like a handful of chicks. -"This is part of what you signed up for when you came to this dojo. When you came to Cobra Kai."- He assesses firmly. -"You came to break with the old so the new and the improved could take its place."- He adds. Eventually, you'd have to bruise and break in those pretty little hands much like everyone else would and if you didn't have the guts to do that, you'd advance nowhere and your here would become fairly obsolete. Someone might as well tell you that upfront.
Even though, he confessed. The idea of a piece of rock breaking your hands?
Something shoots through him, like a radioactive phantasm of jealousy.
He wanted to do the breaking instead.
Not leave it up to an inanimate piece of training gear.
-"And if you can't imagine yourself doing that, you can always take up a knitting class."-
He adds, finally, earning himself a couple of amused chuckles.
Blood rushes into your cheeks.
Were you angry? Ashamed? Humiliated? Good.
—
Looking through your files was child's game after that.
He pretty much had everything he needed to know about you, printed in black and white in his own two hands, on the very exact form you filled the day you signed up for adulted classes six months ago; your home address, bank statement, contact number, email, age, place of employment, blood type in case an accident took place mid-training and a transfusion was needed on short notice. And yes, he's broken into your home before. Terry did it the first time you ever ran your mouth to backtalk him, asking if doing fifty consecutive push ups as warm was a smart decision because it was bound to leave everyone too exhausted to hold proper form and too distracted with tiredness to properly follow the class. He checked every drawer, every shelf, every nook, every cranny, supposing he wanted to find something he could spit on in indignation and discovering nothing more fitting but what he could only deduce was your framed graduation photograph, pursuing his lips and letting the saliva build up right before he hurled the spittle out of his mouth and right unto the glass inside of the frame, watching it trickle down your face, smearing it with his finger in retaliation, deciding the gesture was fitting punishment. If only he had a chance to do it with your actual face next. Spit in your mouth too, for refusing to shut up as it did. Spit in your mouth for missing three of your classes this week, like that was a thing you were allowed to do when you weren't. Did he tear into you verbally too hard last time? Was that it? Undoubtedly, but that still didn't give you permission to leave. He wanted you to come back so he could harass you some more, like you deserved to be harassed.
He knocks on your door, freshly having concluded this week's teaching.
Still in his Gi, jacket slung over his shoulders.
He did that on purpose, to make it seem like him coming here wasn't premeditated or something he tactically prepared for in advance, but rather, like a last minute decision he made in the utmost rush to the degree he didn't even have time to change out of his training attire, forgetful, overworked old man that he is. -"Who’s there!?"- Your concerned, slightly confused voice calls from the other end and he hears the keyhole clicking, only for your uncertain face to show up in the precipice of the doorframe illuminated by the warm light of your apartment's foyer looming like a halo behind you, brows practically jumping once you recognized him, appearing relieved. -"Sensei Silver!?"- You state in surprise, opening the door entirely, letting him step over the threshold, moving out of the way to usher him inside from the corridor. He tries not to seem too familiar with the territory, pretending not to know exactly where to stand; next to the shoe rack or the coat hanger. -"God. I’m so sorry. Got scared halfway to death!"- You place your hand over your chest, exhaling and smiling. Way too fidgety for someone who took Tang Soo Do classes. What were you afraid of? Of someone barging in and subduing you? -"What do I owe the honor of the visit! I didn’t expect anyone."- You shake your head, all charm. Of course he prepared an excuse for him being here and it comes in a form of a sleek pamphlet he produces from inside of his jacket, handing it to you. He had it printed, in bulk and giving out to everyone at the dojo solely so he could have a reason to give you one to you as well. -"The curriculum. For our future classes. I thought you might wanna look through it. Freshly printed."- Terry explains. He hoped you would've continued showing up, smart mouth you always were, but there you went, disappearing. If Muhammad wouldn't come to the mountain, the mountain would have to come to Muhammad.
-"You missed the last session so I brought it over personally. Where'd you go?"-
Terry feigns concern. He knew where you went. You were pegged down a notch.
Proceeded retreating with your tail behind your legs.
That's what you get for questioning him.
But, he didn't expect you to retreat quite so definitely.
Who'd you ask if you can do that? Did you ask anyone? Him?
You eyelashes flutter, like you were about to come up with an excuse.
-"I think you're right, Sensei. I mean, the whole Cobra Kai dojo scene, ---"-
You begin, looking away from him, vehemently staring at the pattern on the corridor carpet, holding the flyer with a sense of unease, like you weren't certain what to do with it. If you crumpled it up, he'd make you eat it. -"It ain't for me. I'm not cut out for it."- You confess, finally meeting his gaze, appearing a bit shy at the notion. He knew a tangent was incoming. Decides to let you have it. And knowing you, you wouldn't shut up any time soon in the next five minutes. -"I can't do any of those things you demonstrated last week. Break my bones on purpose? Smash through rocks? Ignore pain? I know when I'm out of my depth and there's no shame in admitting something ain't for me and gracefully moving on. What you said the last time --- you helped me see that. You really did."- You utter, in one solitary breath, and it takes everything within Terry not to laugh at you. So, humiliating in front of the whole class for interrupting him for the umpteenth time with some inane observation, you thought it was for your own good and that it made you see things more clearly? What? Was that why you left his dojo like it was a bus station? Did you really take up knitting as a hobby in the meantime as well? -"I had a great time studying these past few months under you, but I just can't continue."- You visibly gulp once he says nothing and you feel incentivized to further explain. You never had a problem with that before. Go ahead. He was giving you center stage to speak. So speak. -"I talk back. I interrupt. I question. I worry. I'm so sorry. I can't just let go and do it. Do what I'm supposed to do on the mat."- You add, your eyes widening, perhaps in anxiety, pupils dilating, looking back and forth between the surrounding furniture and the wall --- anywhere but at him. Why should he let you go? When it was so fun pushing your buttons? In fact, he decides you could use some more of that.
-"Do you like me?'-
He asks, bluntly. You take a step back, stammering.
-"Excuse me, sir?"-
-"I said, do you like me?"- He repeats himself, firmer.
Your mouth wordlessly forms a shape, but no sound comes forth.
You weren't certain what to say.
Finally.
You were speechless for once. That was a welcoming novelty.
-"Because, if you like me, you won't leave me here stranded, with one student less and waltz out impulsively, on such a short notice. That's not how things work. There's a price for that."-
He winds you up, deciding to stoke a fire and then immediately extinguish it, intending to fluster you for thinking what he led you to think, watching the abject shame settle into your expression like a newly formed wrinkle just because for a mere second, you thought this was a confession of something more than it was instead of a cleverly phrased and deliberately misguiding segway intended to put you on the spot and make you feel like an idiot with no listening comprehension. -"I'll pay everything I still own and ---"- You practically stumble over your words, clutching the pamphlet to your chest vigorously, like a shield, referencing unpaid lesson, trying to regain what little balance you had, visibly sweating bullets. Stoke the fire. Extinguish the fire. Stoke the fire. Extinguish the fire. Terry steps forward, shutting you up. Commanding you to stay silent. -"Don't talk."- He orders, flatly, putting up his hand alongside his finger as a warning and then coming closer still, until the tip of it is practically pushing against your mouth. You appeared flaggerbasted. Like you weren't sure what was going on, too shocked to actually move. This was why confusing people into a state of paralytic awkwardness was paramount in verbal warfare. He pushed his index finger between your lips and you still didn't move, letting him get away with it, too stunned for words. -"For once, listen. Don't speak."- He murmurs, staring at your mouth, pushing his nail inside, feeling your wetness and finding your tongue, frozen stiff, clasping it with his thumb and index finger and holding it, pulling on it, until you groaned, trying to mutely gibber and failing. -"This is the thing that always talked back. Can't talk back anymore, can it?"- He taunts and you shake your head with an expression that would place deer in headlights to shame, shivering vigorously.
You've seen what his hands could do. What his fists could do.
He could rip your tongue out of your skull and it would pose little issue.
He felt you knew that right about now.
Practically dangled by the tip of your mouth's organ. Your head slumping back.
Unable to release yourself, you slowly lower yourself, to your knees.
-"That's good."- Terry coos, pleased, watching you drool all over his hand.
-"Open that pretty little mouth of yours and use it for something really valuable for a change."-
He purrs, even as his fingers go fidgeting, lower his Gi's trousers, loosening the obi around his waist, pulling his cock out of his briefs, showcasing it to you so the state of the situation would settle in. He'd hatefuck your mouth. He was already hard. Already dripping precum. Almost like the very act of coming here and pestering you served to do it for him as he, without much deliberation, pushed himself inside of your lips, taking in the sloppy, receptive moisture, enjoying the symbolism of the flyer he's given you falling next to you on the floorboard until you were practically kneeling atop of it. -"Perfect."- He hums, praising. -"You've been badgering and badgering and I can't tell you how many times I thought about interrupting class and just giving it to you, in front of everyone, right there, in the middle of the dojo. Let them all see what happens when someone questions Terry Silver and his methods."- Now it was his turn to make some confessions, fingers tangling into your hair, coiling into a fist, making you look at him with your watering, teary eyes. He amps up his pace, bobbing your head back and forth for you, using your tresses as reins. Look how you've infected him. Now he was the one rambling and loving it. -"But, I wanted the occasion to be something special. Someplace I could really savor it --- and what better place than right under your very own roof."- He closes his eyes, smiling, enjoying the sensation of tense pleasure building up in his gut, right before looking down at you with your brows furrowed. You were just now realizing this was premeditated. Poor you. -"Oh, don't look at me like that. Don't think I haven't been in here before. Been here a thousand times."- He chuckles into his own chin, moaning. Of course he's desecrated something miniscule every time you talked back as an elaborate form of revenge and violation, like wiping his cock on the curtain after masturbating on your bed. Nothing was for free. Disrespect certainly wasn't.
-"And you'll be seeing a lot more of me just yet. Don't think this is over. Don't think you can disassociating with Cobra Kai and me on a whim. You can't."-
He flat out threatens, his hips rutting vigorously against your head.
You thought this was a game?
You sign up to his dojo for like six months and call it quits when things get hard?
Cobra Kai was a brotherhood. A society. Not an extracurricular pastime or a hobby.
That's what people weren't getting. He didn't want them to just yet.
But you? He'd was breaking the news to you hard and fast in the flesh.
-"You belonged to me from the moment you met me and put on the Gi and you'll belong to me until your dying breath."-
He grits his teeth, shaking, seething, feeling his tresses slide out of his ponytail and unto his forehead in an unruly mess, satisfaction coiling in his groin imaging you returning to the dojo on Monday, dressed in your uniform, all neat and proper, your attitude curbed and kept only for special occasions, releasing suddenly, just at the thought that he owned you, hearing you gurgle from the floor, droplets of his cum trickling down your chin and leaking unto the Cobra Kai pamphlet on the parquet in front of you. No, no. That wouldn't do. Not a single ounce wasted. -"Swallow."- Terry orders, catching his breath, scrutinizing you as you did so, still holding your hair, yanking forward suddenly, his cock falling out of your mouth, giving you leeway to breathe again and you do, gasping with sharp inhales of breath, a bubble of saliva popping between your lips as you rolled back to sob and cough. Pathetic. Eager to serve. So you were capable of shutting the fuck up, letting go and getting lost in an action after all? You were teachable. He knew you would be. Much like the rock slab on the training dummy, though, you needed to be broken in first. Terry slides his hand across the top of his head, slicking loose hair strands back, lifting up his finger to threaten and warn once again. Remind, in case you've forgotten. Had your brains scrambled in all sorts of awkward and unlikely directions. -"So, you better not miss out on any of my classes ever again or I'll have a reason to hold a very, very big grudge. Especially if you don't show up and break that stone like I've taught everyone to do. Understood?"-
-"Yes, Sensei."- You manage desperately, drooling, nodding your head.

Somewhere in the North Atlantic...

Once upon a windy early morning on the cavernous clifftop of some abandoned island a heretic crew of slavers has unearthed 5 stone idols inscribed in the glyphs of some lost alphabet of Europe's heathen antiquity, two anointed emissaries from hell oversee malnourished wretched slaves erecting the engraved stones in arrangement with forgotten constellations, while a heretic priest burns sage over a padlocked coffin stained with blood slowly sinking into the center of an old muddy battlefield...
Satisfied with their preparation the congregation of hell marches back to shore. They hope to be a safe at sea by midnight when the stars would hang in alignment above the odious carvings and Crom Cruach awakens. Reborn, full of hate and hunger...
how unhappy must they be to see that a cruiser typical of the Eire Rangers, Faithful soldiers of the Church, have laid anchor. And worse yet! Boot tracks headed straight to the site of their ritual!!!
Will the devoted Rangers cleanse the Island of idolatry before it's too late??? Can the servants of Evil thwart the pesky interpose of the pious??? Stay tuned dear reader, you're about to FIND OUT!

BATTLE REPORT
This was a game played at 700 ducats and 0 glory using the 1.5 playtest rules for Trench Crusade. Using the Scenario "Sabotage" on a 4 foot by 4 foot board. The Attackers were the Eire Rangers sub faction of New Antioch and the Defenders were the Heretic Legion without any sub faction. Lists are posted below.
EIRE RANGERS:

Trench Cleric with Standard Armour, Grenades and Pistol
Berserker Lieutenant with Trench Shield, Sword, Grenades and Shotgun
Shocktrooper Bard Fianna with Carnyx, Sword and Standard Armour
Shocktrooper Fianna with Submachine Gun, Two Swords and Standard Armour
Shocktrooper Fianna with Submachine Gun, Two Swords and Standard Armour
Shocktrooper Fianna with Semi Automatic Rifle, Two Swords and Standard Armour
Shocktrooper Fianna with Semi Automatic Rifle, Two Swords and Standard Armour
[ EXPLORATION MODIFIERS ] Reroll
HERETIC LEGION:

Heretic Priest with Silenced Pistol
Heretic Death Commando with Tartarus Claws
Anointed Heavy Infantry with Great Sword
Anointed Heavy Infantry with Great Sword and musical instrument
Heretic Legionnaire with Gas Mask Shovel Semi-Automatic Rifle and Unholy Trinket
Heretic Trooper with Gas Mask Shovel Semi-Automatic Rifle
Heretic Trooper with Gas Mask Shovel Semi-Automatic Rifle
Wretched with Sword
Wretched with knife
Wretched with knife
Turn 0 setting up the board,
After the Trench and ruins were on the table we took turns placing the point scoring relics the attackers are meant to destroy, represented by 5 upright Stones scattered around the board and a coffin in the middle. Now time to deploy the troops.

All but one of the Ranger team were skirmishers, while my Heretic's only skirmisher was Death Commando so I placed all my wretched, my Legionnaire, and my Musical Anointed Heavy Infantry on the front edge of their Deployment Zone, clear of any obstacles ready to climb the trench and rush into no-man's land,

Death Commando would sulk inside a ruined building near the middle edge of the board. According to the rules for this mission I had to leave 4 guys in reserve so Heretic Priest, Troopers, and the un-musical Anointed Heavy Infantry, sit on the bench for the time being.

The Rangers set up more spread out, one fireteam of 2 Shocktrooper Fiannas hiding in a separate room of the metal ruined building ready to charge the commando, one Shock Trooper at the top of the cliff One at the Base of the Cliff behind some scaffolding, and the rest behind their own trench.

Now, time to let the blood flow!
Turn 1 Crusading this Trench!
First unit to activate was the humble Wretched with knife dashing up into no man's land hoping to shank the Shocktrooper at the base of the cliff.

However, he was not able to reach the Enemy before the end of his turn so it's on to the Rangers.

The Ranger fireteam get to act as one unit so it's both of their turns and it's Open Season on Death Commando,

After the first hit left him with a blood token the second killed him completely, and that marks the first casualty of our trench crusade careers! The second member of the fire team ends the turn by moving out of the ruined building into no mans land eager to get a head start on idol smashing in the next turn.

Now Wretched with Sword is dispatched against the Fireteam to get revenge! Because of his proximity to the Music of the Anointed Heavy Infantry his movement gets a boost

he scrambles up into no man's land and lunges his sword at the Fianna.

Complete miss.

Back to the Rangers it's the Trench Cleric and he moves right up the support beam of the trench and shouts something about snakes

resulting in my wretched feeling a sudden compulsion to lie down in the dirt, snake-like.

Then he turns to face a nearby stone idol and lifts his holy crozier off the ground...

Before drawing his pistol and shooting it to bits and pieces!

+1 point to the Rangers

Heretic Legionaire activates and climbs on top of a pile of cargo to get a line of sight on the Rangers

He fires one shot and misses, Then hides under the trench convincing himself to charge over into closer range next turn.

Continuing our story, the Ranger under the scaffolding at the base of the cliff counter charges the humble wretched with knife

Sliding right up behind him and in front of another stone idol, he bloodies the wretched...

and transforms the heretical stone into a patch of gravel.

the last reluctant wretched prepares his journey over the trench walls

Luckily for him, I've reached the image limit on this site so he'll have until Part 2 to steady his nerves.
End of Part 1...

What Are Professional Scaffolding Services? A Beginner’s Guide
If you’ve ever passed by a building under renovation or construction, you’ve likely noticed the complex structures surrounding it. These frameworks are known as scaffolding, and they play a vital role in ensuring the safety and accessibility of a project. But what exactly are professional scaffolding services, and why are they essential?

What Is Scaffolding?
Scaffolding is a temporary structure used to support workers and materials during the construction, maintenance, or repair of buildings and other structures. It provides a safe and stable platform, allowing workers to access areas that would otherwise be difficult or dangerous to reach.
Scaffolding comes in many forms, including:
Supported scaffolds: Built from the ground up with poles and frames.
Suspended scaffolds: Hung from above using ropes or chains.
Rolling scaffolds: Mobile units on wheels, often used for indoor jobs.
The right type of scaffolding depends on the scale and nature of the project.

Understanding the Scaffolding Wrench: A Crucial Tool for Safe and Efficient Construction
Understanding the Scaffolding Wrench: A Crucial Tool for Safe and Efficient Construction In the fast-paced world of construction, few tools are as fundamental yet underappreciated as the scaffolding wrench. This specialized hand tool plays a critical role in erecting and dismantling scaffolding structures, which are essential for accessing hard-to-reach areas on job sites. From skyscraper construction to residential renovations, the scaffolding wrench ensures that scaffold components are securely assembled and disassembled with precision, speed, and safety. Though simple in appearance, the scaffolding wrench is indispensable in the hands of a trained scaffolder, providing both the mechanical advantage and ergonomic design needed to handle the rigors of daily use. What Is a Scaffolding Wrench? A scaffolding wrench is a specialized tool designed to tighten and loosen bolts, nuts, and fittings used in scaffold construction. Unlike general-purpose wrenches, the scaffolding wrench is uniquely suited for the repetitive tasks and specific hardware involved in erecting scaffolding systems. Typically crafted from durable materials such as chrome vanadium steel or forged alloy, the scaffolding wrench is built to endure constant use in demanding environments. These wrenches are often equipped with a ratcheting mechanism that allows for continuous tightening or loosening without the need to reposition the tool. This feature is particularly valuable when working in high or confined spaces, where mobility is limited. Additionally, the scaffolding wrench usually includes a long handle to provide extra leverage and a socket size that matches the standard fittings used in scaffold joints and couplers. Design and Features of a Scaffolding Wrench One of the standout features of the scaffolding wrench is its compatibility with the specific fasteners used in scaffold systems. Most models feature a 7/16" or 1/2" socket head, although some may come with interchangeable heads or dual sockets to accommodate different sizes. The ratcheting head, often reversible, allows scaffolders to switch directions with ease—tightening or loosening without removing the wrench from the fastener.

Scaffolders wrench
Scaffolders Wrench: The Essential Tool for Precision and Safety
The construction industry relies on a range of specialized tools to complete projects efficiently and safely. Among these, the scaffolders wrench holds a critical role in scaffolding operations, where precision, durability, and speed are non-negotiable. Often underestimated, this seemingly simple hand tool plays a vital part in erecting temporary work platforms, ensuring worker safety at height, and keeping projects on schedule. Whether you're a seasoned scaffolder or new to the trade, understanding the value, functionality, and design of the scaffolders wrench can lead to better workmanship and increased on-site efficiency.
What is a Scaffolders Wrench?
A scaffolders wrench, also referred to as a spanner in some regions, is a specialized hand tool used to assemble and disassemble scaffolding structures. It is specifically designed to fit the nuts and bolts used in scaffolding clamps, fittings, and couplers. Unlike standard wrenches, a scaffolders wrench is built to endure frequent use in rugged environments and often includes additional features that improve productivity and minimize the physical strain on workers. The most common size for scaffolders wrenches is 7/16” or 21mm, aligning with the bolts commonly used in the scaffolding industry.
The tool typically includes a ratcheting mechanism for faster operation, and some models feature a podger end—a tapered point used for aligning holes in scaffold tubing or steelwork before inserting bolts. The combination of these functionalities makes the scaffolders wrench indispensable for professionals working on construction sites, especially in settings where scaffolding needs to be erected or dismantled rapidly and securely.
Key Features of a Scaffolders Wrench
To fully appreciate the scaffolders wrench, it’s essential to understand the core features that distinguish it from other tools:
1. Ratchet Mechanism Most scaffolders wrenches include a ratcheting head that allows users to tighten or loosen bolts without removing the wrench from the fastener after each turn. This feature significantly increases the speed of scaffolding work and reduces hand fatigue. The direction of the ratchet is often switchable via a toggle.
2. Podger End Many scaffolders wrenches come with a podger—a tapered metal spike used to align holes in scaffolding tubes, flanges, or fittings. This function is especially useful during the initial stages of scaffolding assembly, where alignment is critical for structural integrity and ease of bolt insertion.
3. Durable Construction These wrenches are designed for hard use. They are typically made of high-grade steel or chrome vanadium to withstand repeated drops, exposure to the elements, and heavy torque. Some models are also heat-treated for added durability and resistance to wear and tear.
4. Ergonomic Design Given the physically demanding nature of scaffolding work, many scaffolders wrenches are designed with ergonomics in mind. Non-slip handles, balanced weight distribution, and contoured grips are all features that reduce user strain and improve overall tool control.
Why a Scaffolders Wrench is Essential on the Job Site
Safety and Precision Properly securing scaffolding components is a safety-critical task. A scaffolders wrench ensures that fittings are tightened to the correct torque, preventing potential loosening under load or environmental stress. Insecure scaffolding not only jeopardizes workers on the platform but also poses a risk to people and property below.
Efficiency and Speed In time-sensitive construction projects, the ability to erect scaffolding quickly without sacrificing safety is a major advantage. The scaffolders wrench, especially one with a ratcheting mechanism, dramatically reduces the time it takes to assemble or dismantle a structure. This time savings can add up across a large project, directly impacting deadlines and labor costs.
Versatility in Application Scaffolders often work in various environments—from urban high-rises to industrial plants and event staging. The scaffolders wrench is adaptable enough to handle different coupling systems, bolt types, and joint configurations. It’s a one-tool solution for a broad range of scaffolding assemblies.
Durability in Harsh Conditions Job sites often expose tools to dust, mud, rain, and extreme temperatures. The scaffolders wrench is designed with ruggedness in mind, able to function reliably without frequent maintenance or replacement. Its corrosion-resistant finish and high-strength material composition mean it stays serviceable over the long haul.
Selecting the Right Scaffolders Wrench
Not all scaffolders wrenches are created equal. When selecting one, there are several factors to consider:
Material Quality Opt for wrenches made from hardened steel or chrome vanadium, which resist warping and breaking under pressure. A corrosion-resistant coating is also important for longevity in outdoor settings.
Size Compatibility Ensure the wrench fits the size of the nuts and bolts used in your specific scaffolding system. While 21mm is standard, some systems may use different sizes.
Ratcheting Efficiency A high-quality ratchet with a fine-tooth mechanism can make a big difference in tight spaces. Look for smooth operation and a sturdy direction switch that won’t slip under torque.
Weight and Balance Scaffolders carry their tools for long hours. A wrench that’s too heavy can cause fatigue, while one that’s too light might not provide enough torque. The best models balance weight and functionality for extended use.
Handle Comfort Look for ergonomic features like cushioned grips or anti-slip coatings. These can help maintain a secure hold, even when your hands are sweaty or gloved.
Proper Maintenance and Safety Tips
Even the most durable tool benefits from regular maintenance. Here are a few ways to keep your scaffolders wrench in top condition:
Clean regularly to remove grime and debris that could interfere with moving parts.
Lubricate the ratcheting mechanism occasionally to ensure smooth performance.
Inspect for wear or damage such as cracks, worn ratchet teeth, or deformed sockets.
Store in a dry environment to prevent rust and corrosion, especially after working in wet conditions.
Use the tool correctly—do not use it as a hammer or pry bar, which can compromise its structure and function.
How the Scaffolders Wrench Supports Industry Standards
Scaffolding safety is governed by strict regulations in most countries, often requiring certified inspections and compliance with engineering standards. A scaffolders wrench helps workers meet these safety benchmarks by allowing secure connections that align with design loads and structural stability requirements. It supports the builder in adhering to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines or similar local standards for scaffolding safety, depending on the region.
The Evolution of the Scaffolders Wrench
Over time, the scaffolders wrench has evolved from a basic spanner into a multi-functional, ergonomically designed tool. Innovations such as magnetic sockets, quick-change heads, and lightweight alloys reflect the industry's growing demand for faster, safer, and more comfortable tools. As scaffolding systems become more advanced—incorporating modular components, alloy tubes, and integrated locking mechanisms—tools like the scaffolders wrench continue to adapt.
Technological developments may one day incorporate digital torque readings or integrate with smart systems for real-time quality assurance, but at its core, the scaffolders wrench will likely remain a handheld essential due to the tactile nature of the work.
Conclusion
The scaffolders wrench is far more than a simple tool—it is a linchpin in the scaffolding process that ensures both efficiency and safety. Built for durability, designed for speed, and engineered for precision, it allows scaffolders to perform their work with confidence and control. From its ratcheting head to its podger point, every element of this tool is tailored to meet the high demands of the trade. Understanding and respecting the role of the scaffolders wrench not only elevates craftsmanship but also protects lives, property, and project timelines. As long as scaffolding remains an integral part of construction and industrial work, the scaffolders wrench will continue to be a trusted companion on the job site.

Understanding No Go Zones for Scaffolding in Victoria
Understanding No Go Zones for Scaffolding in Victoria https://scaffolding-hire.com.au/understanding-no-go-zones-for-scaffolding-in-victoria/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=understanding-no-go-zones-for-scaffolding-in-victoria When it comes to working near powerlines, safety isn’t optional—it’s essential. In Victoria, No Go Zones are designated safety boundaries created to prevent accidents and fatalities involving overhead powerlines. For scaffolders, builders, and site managers, understanding these zones is not just about compliance—it’s about being safe. What Are No Go Zones? No Go Zones are safety areas defined by Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) to mitigate the risk of electrical accidents around powerlines. These zones set strict minimum distances where no work or scaffolding can take place without formal approval. They apply to all kinds of worksites, from construction to agriculture, and are especially relevant in urban settings with dense infrastructure. According to ESV, the key distinctions are: Overhead Distribution Lines (pole-to-pole along streets) Service Lines (from poles to properties) Underground Assets High vs Low Voltage Zones Scaffolding and No Go Zones If scaffolding equipment comes within 5.0 metres vertically or 4.6 metres horizontally of overhead powerlines, you’re in a No Go Zone. In this case, you must obtain a Permit to Work (PTW) from the relevant Victorian power distributor before proceeding. As shown in the graphic above, scaffolding must never be erected above powerlines, regardless of voltage level. Even if your team plans to work near service lines (connecting power from the street to a property), you may require a power shutdown. Spotters may assist during operation, but they are not enough during the erection or dismantling phase due to the unpredictability of scaffold movement. How to Get a Permit to Work (PTW) If your project falls within a No Go Zone, follow these steps: Identify your site’s electricity distributor using the DELWP mapping tool. Contact the distributor (see below) and apply for a PTW. Allow up to two weeks for an inspector to attend your site. If a shutdown is required, plan for up to four weeks for scheduling and execution. Contact details for Victoria’s power distributors: AusNet Services – 1300 360 795 Jemena – 131 626 Powercor / CitiPower – 132 206 / 1300 301 101 United Energy – 1300 131 689 Plan Ahead to Stay Safe Resources like the Look Up and Live app and ESV’s published guidelines help teams identify hazards early. Prior to commencing an inspection, our team will allocate a Licensed Scaffolder individual who will be responsible for the onsite inspection and we will conduct a Safety inspection before scaffolding begins. Starting early not only protects lives but also helps prevent costly delays due to permit wait times or shutdown logistics. If you have any questions or No Go Zones, feel free to reach out to our team directly. It’s not the height that causes accidents—it’s what’s overlooked at the ground level. Scaffolding failures are rarely about luck—they’re about missed checks, weak inspections, and overconfidence. That’s why proper Scaffolding Inspector Training is not just important, it’s essential. Recently conducted in Chhattisgarh, this training brought together managers, engineers, and supervisors from the construction & engineering sector to focus on: ✅ Safe erection and dismantling practices ✅ Inspection protocols and checklist compliance ✅ Load management and fall protection awareness Because every safe structure starts with someone asking: “Is this really secure?”

Day 19
Lonesome Rock

Up with the sun to ride on from Lonesome Rock to Lone Light. I reached it in a couple hours of hard riding.

Talanah was just arriving as I did, and a flock of Glinthawks decided to join us too. Rope and spear strikes. Simple. Except they kept on coming. I know machines, and this wasn’t normal behaviour for them. No sign of machine lures this time, but something was attracting them to Lone Light. A hoard of metal scrap? I followed their flight path upriver to investigate.

I found a pass through the mountains boarded up with blinders for archers; a whole mess of Snapmaw carcasses had been lured in for cheap kill after kill. It honestly made me angry to see. Rost always told me to respect the power of the machines, not to trap and butcher them to farm for shards. Practices like this give skilled hunters a bad name.

Higher up in the pass I met a group of Carja hunters struggling to pay off debts. They didn’t seem to care that their kills had forced all of Lone Light to evacuate when the Glinthawks came to nest, and who knows how many died. They seemed ready to kill me as well for my trespass, but they agreed to a compromise if I collected the last Snapmaw heart they needed to break even. Unlike them, I salvaged the heart in perfect condition from both the Snapmaws I killed. Their mess of an ambush, peppering the machines with arrows, tore through their underbellies and dashed half the hearts they might have claimed.

Talanah met me at the hunter’s camp. She’d been tracking me, watching, and based on what she’d seen she decided to sponsor me as her thrush. If I’d known I might have gone in for a flashier kill. Either way, I hope she likes explosions.

Exiting the camp, my Focus picked up on a Tallneck close by, but no machines guarded this wanderer, only Eclipse. They’d erected scaffolding and makeshift shelters, watchtowers all around the Tallneck’s path. I found their plans documented inside: they were trying to override it. Is that what they call their corruption? I suppose it’s the same mechanism, just commanded by a different machine: my Focus and their Corrupters.

I took out as many as I could from afar, sharpshot arrows breaking through their masks, then got cocky and was spotted. Weaved my way in and out of detection until I took out their heavy gunner. Took it up and picked off the rest wandering through the brush searching for me. Well, here I am.

Then to the Tallneck. From its head the camp was just a collection of little fires and wooden slats. Bodies scattered all around. What were they doing trying to override a Tallneck? Just for a map of the terrain and machine sites? Nothing good, certainly.

I rode back to Lone Light and spent the night there. It was still empty. The village that had been bustling with life—the bar crowded with drunks dancing and laughing, a band playing late into the night—now silent. Hopefully Talanah can get word out that it’s safe to return. For how long, I don’t know.

Bedhouse was empty too. At least it was quiet.

"My Living Nightmare with an Online Bully: Episode 14"

When August rolled in, I was hoping for some relief and good news. Plus, this was my birthday month, and I was still planning to celebrate it with friends at my local neighborhood pub. But before that, I kicked off the first weekend in August inviting my dear friend and fellow House of the Dragon fan, Christine, to watch the final episode of season 2. Christine also happens to be a fellow professor at the college, teaching in the music department. (This is a different Christine from Union rep Christine.)
I prepared a nice entree of Shrimp Étouffée, and she contributed a salad and plenty of wine to share. She had just returned from a visit overseas, so after watching the final episode, we sat out on my balcony catching up and sipping wine. She didn’t know all the details about “The Bully” until after she returned. During her time abroad, I had sent an email updating my entire community of friends and family and even some who follow my blog. I wanted to update everyone on what had been happening and why I would be taking a break from posting anything new. (In fact, as I originally draft this, it’s now November, and I haven’t published anything new since the tattoo piece, over 5 months ago.)
After Christine and I hung out and she went home, I received a new Instagram (IG) follower request from a “Check your DM (fuckyou_elahi123)”
Omg, what the hell now?
Because my IG was now in private mode, anyone wanting to follow me had to “request.” But this person didn’t really want to follow me. They just wanted my attention to check my DMs sooner than later because once it was evident I read it, they immediately deleted both the message and the follow request. Oh, and FYI, I have since learned that I can keep anyone messaging me who doesn't follow me, even message requests from non-followers.
But what did the message have to say?
Here’s the cryptic message from a screenshot I took:

My first thought: It’s “The Bully.”
Well, honestly, I first thought: what the hell are triple standards?? Then, I did wonder if it was “The Bully”—who attacked me on my blog, who emailed the school to complain about me, and who, I believe, got Story Mill’s social media posts taken down.
Perhaps the school or the district had reprimanded him, and he was retaliating against me. He also called me “a piece of work,” the same phrase he used in one of his comments to me on my blog. I circled it in red for when I had to share it to the school and the police to highlight that part for them... doing my own bit of detective work to help them see it could be the same person. After all, it was a major clue to why I thought it was “The Bully.” But overall, some of the things he called me and said to me didn’t quite add up. In the blog comments, he never used profanity like “fuck," and he never used insults on a childish level like “stupid.” I mean, it was a logical assumption to make that it was him based on what had transpired, but “The Bully” also had a bit of intellect, at least compared to this IG message and its “triple standards” boast. I mean, even "The Bully" would be laughing and making fun of "triple standards."
But it didn’t take me long to remember that just a few short weeks before this night, I received that nasty email from the student “Who Called Me a Cunt,” and I did report that to "Dean #2." Did "Dean #2" reach out to him? Was this a “New Bully” retaliating? Is this what he meant by he would “never forget this” when I didn’t add him to my class?
When I first read this IG message, I wasn’t sure what I should do. Should I delete it? Should I block the user? I know it might be strange to question whether to block such a message. I’m sure that’s the first thing anyone else would have done. But at this point, I had been so scared about what to do because when I did do anything to keep “The Bully” at bay on my blog, he found other ways to reach me since it seemed I might have been provoking him with any move I made—or any move I didn’t make. At least that’s how it felt. After all, I blocked him from making comments on my blog by disabling the comment feature, but then he used my contact page to get to me. I didn’t reply to that, so he emailed my school to make a big complaint about me. He had managed to make me feel so helpless and insecure about what I could do to protect myself.
Before deciding to block this IG user and before he (assuming it is a male) deleted the message, I took screen shot photos of it, so I could share it with the school and even the police. This was definitely “new information,” and I would need to inform the police about it.
The following weekend, I was heading down to Anaheim for the D23 event at the convention center. D23 is the official Disney fan club of which I am member of, and every year, they have 1 or 2 major events, an expo or convention of all things Disney. It’s either held in Anaheim, where the mothership Disneyland is located, or like last year, in Orlando near Walt Disney World. This year it was back in Anaheim, and it would be my first D23 Expo to attend, so naturally, I was very excited. I had bought a Sunday badge for the event way back in March and booked my resort hotel stay as well in advance. But I will admit that my excitement was slightly tainted due to the drama in my personal life with “The Bully.”
In the days leading up to the Disney weekend getaway:
I called the police—twice—where I left voicemails about the new information with the IG message. I didn’t hear back from the police.
I also sent the IG screenshot photos to the dean of student services (aka “Dean #2"), whose auto "out of office” reply instructed me that he was on vacation and wouldn’t return until the following Monday.
Great. The date of this weekend getaway was August 10-11: over a month since "Dean #1" sent the information to ODEIA, and over two weeks since "Dean #2" sent it to ODEIA as well, and about two weeks since my police report was approved. Again, I found myself waiting. I was in an emotional limbo, with the constant need to always be looking over my shoulder. Someone, maybe “The Bully,” had harassed me with a nasty message on Instagram, and both the school and the police were MIA for now. Fuck...
Read on to Episode 15.

Scaffold Ratchet Wrench
The Essential Guide to a Scaffold Ratchet Wrench
Introduction
When it comes to working on scaffolding, the right tools can mean the difference between a smooth, efficient setup and a frustrating, unsafe project. Among the most vital tools in a scaffolder's kit is the scaffold ratchet wrench. This seemingly simple hand tool plays a crucial role in assembling and disassembling scaffolding structures safely, quickly, and correctly. Whether you're new to construction or a seasoned professional, understanding the importance of a scaffold ratchet wrench — and how to use it properly — is key to performing high-quality work in the field.
In this article, we will dive deep into what a scaffold ratchet wrench is, its design features, why it’s important, and the best practices for maximizing its effectiveness on the job. Whether you are involved in residential construction, commercial projects, or industrial maintenance, mastering this tool is an investment in your safety, efficiency, and professional reputation.
What is a Scaffold Ratchet Wrench?
A scaffold ratchet wrench is a specialized hand tool designed for the assembly and dismantling of scaffold structures. Unlike regular wrenches, this tool is made to tackle the repetitive tasks associated with scaffolding: tightening and loosening a high volume of bolts, nuts, and fittings. It combines the functionality of a wrench, hammer, and occasionally a podger (a tapered end for aligning bolt holes), making it incredibly versatile and efficient for the demands of scaffold work.
Typically, a scaffold ratchet wrench features:
Ratchet Mechanism: Allows for continuous rotation in one direction while resetting in the other without removing the wrench from the fastener, saving time and effort.
Box-End or Socket Head: Specifically sized to fit scaffold coupler bolts.
Tapered Handle: Sometimes incorporated to help align bolt holes in scaffold frames.
Durable Materials: Made from high-strength steel to endure heavy-duty use and tough job site conditions.
Its design addresses not just convenience but also the high safety standards required in scaffold erection, ensuring connections are tight and reliable.
Why a Scaffold Ratchet Wrench is Essential
Scaffolders often deal with hundreds of fittings each day. Without the right tool, this can be labor-intensive, time-consuming, and lead to unnecessary strain or injury. Here’s why a scaffold ratchet wrench is considered essential:
Efficiency
The ratcheting function dramatically reduces the number of movements needed to tighten or loosen bolts. Instead of removing and repositioning the wrench after each turn, the user can simply flick the handle back and forth, speeding up the assembly process and saving significant time on large jobs.
Safety
Properly tightened fittings are critical to the structural integrity of scaffolding. A scaffold ratchet wrench allows workers to securely tighten all connections, reducing the risk of scaffold failure due to loose bolts. Additionally, because the wrench often doubles as a hammer and alignment tool, it minimizes the need to carry multiple tools at height, lowering the risk of dropping items.
Ergonomics
Construction work is physically demanding. A scaffold ratchet wrench, with its smooth ratcheting motion, reduces wrist strain compared to traditional open-end or adjustable wrenches. Over the course of a long workday, this ergonomic advantage can make a significant difference in reducing fatigue and injury risk.
Versatility
Many scaffold ratchet wrenches come with dual heads or interchangeable sockets, allowing them to fit various bolt sizes commonly used in different types of scaffolding systems. This adaptability means one tool can be used across multiple projects, maximizing its value.
Key Features to Look for in a Scaffold Ratchet Wrench
When choosing a scaffold ratchet wrench, certain features can make the tool even more effective for the job. While individual preferences may vary, the following elements are often considered ideal:
High-Quality Ratcheting Mechanism
A reliable ratchet mechanism is the heart of the tool. Look for smooth, durable gears that can handle high torque without slipping or wearing out prematurely.
Correct Socket Size
Most scaffold bolts are 7/8", but it's essential to ensure the wrench matches the specific requirements of your system. Some wrenches offer dual sockets to cover different sizes, offering additional flexibility.
Integrated Hammer Face
A flat hammer surface built into the tool allows workers to knock fittings into place without switching tools, improving both speed and safety.
Podger End (Optional)
A tapered podger end helps align scaffold tubes and fittings before securing them. This feature is particularly useful when precision alignment is necessary at height.
Strong Material Construction
Forged steel or high-grade chrome vanadium steel are common materials, chosen for their ability to resist bending, snapping, and corrosion under harsh work conditions.
Comfortable Grip
Given the repetitive nature of scaffold work, a comfortable, anti-slip grip can prevent hand fatigue and enhance control, especially in wet or cold conditions.
Best Practices for Using a Scaffold Ratchet Wrench
Even the best tools require proper usage to maximize their effectiveness and lifespan. Here are some best practices for working with a scaffold ratchet wrench:
Regular Inspection
Before beginning any job, inspect your scaffold ratchet wrench for signs of wear, cracks, or damage. A compromised tool can fail under load, posing a serious safety risk.
Clean and Lubricate
Dirt and debris can clog the ratcheting mechanism over time. Regularly clean your wrench and apply a light lubricant to keep it operating smoothly.
Use the Correct Size
Always use a socket that matches the bolt size precisely. Using the wrong size can strip bolts or damage the wrench.
Apply Proper Force
Avoid excessive force. If a bolt is too tight, use a breaker bar or seek another method rather than risking damage to your scaffold ratchet wrench or personal injury.
Store Properly
Keep your wrench in a dry, protected location when not in use. Exposure to moisture can lead to rust and deterioration, even in high-quality tools.
Advantages of a Well-Made Scaffold Ratchet Wrench
Professionals who invest in a quality scaffold ratchet wrench often report numerous long-term benefits:
Increased Productivity: Completing scaffold assemblies faster frees up time for other critical project tasks.
Enhanced Work Quality: Secure, properly tightened scaffolds are more stable and compliant with safety standards.
Reduced Downtime: Reliable tools mean fewer unexpected failures and replacements during critical project phases.
Better Physical Health: Reducing repetitive stress movements helps scaffolders stay healthier and more comfortable over years of hard physical work.
Investing in the right tool isn't just a matter of preference — it’s a smart move for career longevity and project success.
Conclusion
The scaffold ratchet wrench is an indispensable tool for anyone working in scaffold assembly and dismantling. It brings together efficiency, safety, and durability in one powerful package, supporting professionals in performing their jobs faster, better, and with less risk of injury. By understanding its features, best practices for use, and benefits, you can ensure you’re getting the most out of this essential tool every time you step onto a job site.
Choosing a well-made scaffold ratchet wrench and taking good care of it is an investment in both your craft and your future. In a field where precision and speed matter, having the right tool at your side can elevate not only your performance but your entire reputation as a skilled tradesperson.
