love when south indian directors and actors make blatantly gay movies but still try to pass them off as “ macho macho straight as a rod ” like lmao the only thing straight in those movies is bae's dick dicking down their euphoric bae periodt
also looking at our latest queer addition : salaar — vardha is a fucking simp for deva and deva is straight up possessive devoted boyfriend that's obedient to his word like a guard dog is submissive but that won't matter if vardha is in trouble
both their priorities go like : vardha / deva >>>> amma / baachi >>> everything else
also prashanth neel i don't need to be in your walls because i kNOW they're gonna reunite / make up in the end one way or another — they love each other too much to ACTUALLY kill each other . the only way that can successfully happen is if they pull a hannigram and jump off a cliff together .
ALSO they were totally flirting in the rabid men final fight scene like vardha's face when deva said he had a lot of friends and that they were a lot more beautiful than him ??? the confusion , the anxiety , the offence taken in his eyes ?????????? just fucking kiss already trauma be damned y'all bonded for life
dusting off my blog @tuloblurbs to write some stuff bc i am inspired again so keep an eye out or send any requests if you've got any. also, check out @desipyar if you wanna rp aha ✨

Salaar Analysis!
Time and again, we were told in the movie about how dangerous Shouryangas were! How even if only one of them survives, they would come for revenge! Raja Mannar used the darkness of night to kill them all in their sleep. Even after thinking he had wiped out all the Shouryangas, he still lived in fear for 25 years, built walls and gathered an army. He was not unjustified in his fear too as Bhaarava and others were biding their time for revenge.
But it is interesting that all Deva, their true leader, cared about was Varadha, not revenge. When Aadhya asked Bilal if Deva knew that he was the rightful heir to the throne, he didn't reply. The movie ended with a suspense that Deva might have promised Varadha the throne, being unaware of his own claim.
I believe that Deva was fully aware of his identity. First of all, the scars on his back and sword ritual he performed during climax, proved that Deva's knowledge about its Shouryanga identity.
Secondly, only children survived the massacre. If Deva's birth and identity wasn't a public knowledge in the tribe, how could Bhaarava and others be aware of Deva's identity, with no surviving adults to tell them the secret.
Most of Deva's time in Khanshar was either spent with Varadha or sitting alone on the cliff, looking over the entire Khanshar. This fixation of Deva made me feel that Deva also wanted to take Khanshar from Raja Mannar as revenge, not for himself but for Varadha.
Varadha had given up his right to be a Dora and most probably his only chance of being his father's heir by throwing away the bracelet.
It was clear from the first scene that Varadha, being the child of the second wife, didn't enjoy the same power and prestige as Rudra. But Varadha could have a chance at being the heir if he could prove himself stronger than Rudra. Because in Khanshar strength prevails over everything. But he gave up his chance when he threw away the bracelet.
And Deva understood it very well. When Varadha threw away the bracelet and Ranga's father picked it up, Deva lowered his head in helplessness. He couldn't bear to see Varadha giving away his rights and only hope of life with dignity for his sake. He looked up only when he heard his Amma cry and went to hug her and cried in her arm. He was crying due to his inability to not only protect his mother, but also Varadha. That's why he shuddered when Varadha touched him to assure him of his support. There was a rage and determination in his eyes when Varadha asked them to leave immediately. And he didn't promise his Amma that he would never return to Khanshar, but promised Varadha instead.
That was the moment, Deva stopped being a person and became a weapon in Varadha's hands. Baba and Varadha realised this and named him Salaar. It was clear from Amma's dismay that she realised it too.
And that was the moment, Deva decided to give the entire Khanshar to Varadha and he was only waiting for Varadha to ask for it. That's why he asked why he didn't call him sooner, when Varadha questioned why he didn't come sooner. Deva was waiting for the last 25 years for Varadha to decide he wanted the throne and call him.
The scene when Deva stepped into the gates of Khanshar again was juxtaposed with a young Deva stepping out of Khanshar. When young Deva was stepping out he was looking back with determination and rage. His dialogue that walls were made to prevent people from getting in, not from getting out, further emphasized his understanding of Raja Mannar and his character.
During the climax fighting scene, right after Varadha declared that he wanted everything he was looking at, the scene changed to Raja Mannar telling Radha Rama that everyone was after his throne and then showed Deva's devilish smile, the reaction to Varadha's declaration. His reaction in the scene was like Varadha had finally said the words he was waiting to hear for so long.
Thiru was not correct, when he said every Shouryangas wanted revenge except Deva. Deva wanted revenge too, but not by burning Raja Mannar with his throne like Bhaarava and other Shouryangas. But his method of wreaking vengeance on Raja Mannar was to take his prized throne and give it to the son, whom he considered as a disgrace and let bullied since childhood. The son who was supposed to be his most promising legacy, if only he wasn't loyal to his most dangerous enemy.
In the childhood scenes in 'Sooreede' song, when Varadha ate the morsel of food meant for Deva, he playfully charged at him. But then in the next sequence, he himself gave Varadha his share. Varadha never had to take anything from Deva, he would give it to him voluntarily, be it his share of food or the throne of Khanshar.

Omegaverse Varadeva but instead of Varadha as the omega it’s deva who’s the omega.
The reason why he’s so sensitive to those women’s torment is cause he knows how it is to live as an omega.
He’s something of an anomaly, such a strong and tall omega, usually alpha’s don’t appreciate someone stronger than them—but ofc ofc Varadha is not like usual alphas. Deva’s strength and his will and his strong sense of self are what makes deva himself, and Varadha would never hate that.

Salaar is my favourite queer movie of the year which is not a queer movie (it is seeped in heavy stereotypes about almost everything and has many triggering scenes so don't go watch it without being aware of all that it contains)
Man it has such great narratives.
The main leads they are childhood best friends, the prince, Vardha and his enforcer Deva
A sweet montage of them chasing each other around when they were kids is shown
They give their everything for the other, then have to seperate for years
The present story hints at them being estranged, but the events from the past show them being each other's supports
There's a whole sequence of the prince touching his enforcer, a hand on his, an arm around his midsection and the cutesy scene where Vardha falls asleep with his head on Deva's lap and Deva puts a hand over his sleeping prince's heart (swoon!)
Deva is the ultimate protective boyfriend, with the classic 'no one is allowed to touch him' dialogue
And the way Vardha absolutely trusts him so much, like there's an action scene where everyone is scared of what Deva is doing and Vardha is over there standing with a smile on his face and his eyes closed, like he really said, go on bae do your thing
They also do some evil plotting to shake up the political structure of the country together when locked in cells side by side
And they fight side by side while bantering!
Also, it's not just them who are so queer for each other.
Vardha's older sister has a weird possibly toxic codependency with her handmaiden and his macho violent trigger angry older brother keeps letting a guy repeatedly cling onto his muscular bare arms
Hmm, maybe the royal family of Mannar has something in its blood
I told my parents I loved the movie and they asked me why and I was immediately forced to think of a reason other than 'it was so gay' XD

calling all desi folks !
hello there ! i have been in the rp community for over a decade now on various platforms but it has always been hard to come across fellow desis to write with .
do you want to scream over your favorite ships like rahul - anjali from k3g or build up an alternate world to accomodate the chemistry that was between abhimanyu - rohan in soty ? do you want to talk about latest movies and old nostalgic ones ? across most major indian languages film industries ( telugu · tamil · hindi · kannada · malayalam ) movies , faceclaims and ship dynamics , look no further !
if you're a desi reading this and if you roleplay over at discord or are interested in doing so , like this post or send me a dm !! i would love nothing more than to connect with my fellow desi rp partners !!
full disclosure : admin is 23 and looking to write mostly queer desi ships with folks who are 20+ and desi ! minors do NOT interact .
i don't write as real persons or celebrities , i use faceclaims for original characters instead . a new character will be created for each rp plot / partner . plotting and headcanons are something i really enjoy so that would be fun to focus on as well !
smut can be written but it's a case - by - case basis on who and what i am comfortable with , but otherwise , fade - to - black is the norm . limits and triggers are respected so i request the same of you .
though , if you're simply looking to write females / sub characters only or wanting to use my male characters , then i am not the rp partner for you .
currently looking for m x m ships and plots , but others as well ! can't wait to connect with y'all !
me writing this post to gather us desi in rpc :
some canon pairings i am open to writing are :
rambheem ( rrr ) devadas ( 2018 ) abhirohan ( student of the year ) vandhiyamozhi ( ponniyin selvan ) devaradha / varadeva ( salaar ) karjay ( rang de basanti ) chittijai : jairava : dhruya ( charak ships ) rolexanbu ( vikram ) johndas ( master ) vikramvedha ( 2017 )
and a whole long damn variety of cross - movie and cross - industry pairings and ships !
for example : vijay deverakonda x adivi sesh , thala ajith x karthi , nani x rana daggubati , unni mukundan x adivi sesh , dhanush x sivakarthikeyan , vijay thalapathy x arjun das , suriya x nani , jr ntr x jayam ravi , shah rukh khan x r madhavan , vijay thalapathy x surya , karthi x akkineni nagarjuna , prabhas x jayam ravi , ram charan x suriya and many more !
P.S. this is NOT a writing call for desi-only writers !! SO non-desi besties who are into desi cinema can reach out too pls 💕 !

Salaar 2 gears up for filming with Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran in May 2024 in Hyderabad; makers aim December 2025 release
The highly anticipated sequel to Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire is set to begin filming soon. Released in December 2023, the film marked the first collaboration between Prabhas and Prashanth Neel.
True to its title, the first part was always envisioned as part one of a larger story. The makers confirmed the sequel's title even before the first film's release: Salaar Part 2: Shauryanga Parvam. Set in the dangerous city of Khansaar, Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire explored themes of friendship amidst a backdrop of violence. The sequel will also provide a clearer picture of the political landscape and character dynamics, with a focus on confrontations and action sequences.

At some point I feel like either varadha or deva is going to die. imagine if it ends just like Nandini and Adita Karikalan in PS-II where nandini just screams to hold adita karikalan's body just one last time again while she was being dragged away?? What if Varadha dies by the hands of his own salaar, deva who is avenging the shouryaangas, his hands having the same blood of the one who he took a vow to be the hunted or the hunter just for him?
(I want someone to sketch this </3)

Salaar Analysis: Mahara Women!
We were introduced to the Mahara women and their plight when Deva entered Khanshar as Varadha's one man army. We watched a young girl being taken away in a vehicle, while another young girl was running after them. We got to know more about these women from Baba, when he described Mahara as poultry farms, except there were no hens. The meaning of this statement would later become clear, when Vishnu's disgusting actions were shown in detail. Even though, the scene explained about their conditions, we were still left clueless about their affinity to the three tribes of Khanshar.
This issue has been discussed too many times in the fandom and mostly ended with the conclusion that Mahara used to be one of Varadha's territory. Varadha used to have three territories, one Dora territory, Bhargat (that he gave up for Deva) and two Kapus, one of which was Pathran. But Varadha during the ceasefire voting, only held one vote as Kapus of Pathran. Hence, a common HC in fandom that Varadha lost Mahara before 2010. This theory could explain why Vishnu thought of humiliating Varadha by making him watch him assaulting those women. Another common HC in fandom is that Varadha's mother belonged to the Mahara.
There is a second theory about their origin that I have seen in a few YouTube videos. They speculate that Mahara women have some connections with Shiva Mannar and Shouryangas tribe. In the above photo, we could see that the bell-like ornament worn by Shiva Mannar, was also a part of Mahara women's attire. But neither Varadha nor Raja Mannar ever wore this ornament as Kartha, so it was definitely not a Mannarsi ornament. There was one thing that changed when the regime passed from Shiva Mannar to Raja Mannar, the decimation of the Shouryangas tribe. I have even watched a YouTube video stating that Shiva Mannar also had two wives like his son, one of them being Raja Mannar's mother and the other was a woman from Shouryangas tribe. And he wore that ornament to honour her.
I am not completely sold on this idea of Shiva Mannar's wife being a Shouryangas . But I do believe that there is a connection between them and Mahara women. And before I state my reasons, I want to point out something.
When the presence of Shouryangas was revealed during the climax of Khanshar, the cyan colour palette was used to portray them. Deva's Shouryangas heritage was also shown by colouring his upper body cyan. This colour is also used as a hidden clue in many scenes of the movie, pointing towards Deva being a Shouryangas.
During the promise scene.
During 2017 Deva's entry.
Again for a split second when he took the sword from the soldier before decapitating Naarang.
When Radha Rama asked the Mannar army to be alert in the entire Khanshar, depicting the rising Shouryangas threat.
So, when I was rewatching Salaar again last Friday, I noticed this colour again in the background during the 'Aaru Sethulunnaa' song, behind the Mahara women.
This shows that Mahara women have some connections to the Shouryangas tribe. Either they were the women from the Shouryangas tribe captured during the massacre and kept captives in Mahara all these years or they were a kind of sub-tribe, that forms a small part of the larger Shouryangas tribe. Or they could be people living in Shouryangas territory under their protection.
This could also explain Shiva Mannar wearing those bell-like ornaments. As the leader of the three tribes, he could wear other tribes ornaments to honour them or show his neutral stance.
Varadha's connection to Mahara is still a mystery. And I hope we get some clear answers about it in part 2.

The Prince And His Guard(VaraDeva Oneshot)
Sneak Peak!!
‘Tell me you hate me’, Deva’s voice rang through the palace’s lush gardens as chill air blew.
Varadha stood there, his eyes piercing through the man standing before him. His throat jammed, and he failed to produce any words.
‘What happened? The cat got his tongue, ah?’ Deva whispered as he threw away his armour and strolled towards Varadha like a lion nearing the antelope. But the lion here did not hunger for blood but for his Varadha.
‘Get away from me,’ Varadha whispered as he started to walk backwards, but he never let his eyes leave Deva.
‘Then tell me you HATE me; I will leave you alone.’ Deva’s words made Varadha stop in his tracks.
‘I-I.. Ha..Te’ Varadha could only murmur the words but never finish them as his heart didn’t let him.
Bathed in the soft glow of moonlight, Prince Varadha and his Guard Deva stood facing each other, their eyes locked in a passionate gaze. The air was filled with the sweet fragrance of blooming flowers, adding to the enchantment of the moment.
A smile itched its way into Deva’s lips as he slowly neared and closed the distance between them, as he reached out his hands and gently took in the prince’s face. Their hearts beat in unison as they leaned closer, their breath mingling in the cool night air.
With a tender caress, Deva brushed his lips against Varadha’s, a feather-light touch that sent shivers down the Prince’s spine. Both melted into the embrace as Varadha’s hands found their way to his strong shoulders, pulling him closer.
As their kiss deepened, the world around them faded away, leaving only the two of them lost in the throes of passion. Time seemed to stand still as they explored each other's lips, savouring the taste and feel of the long-awaited moment of their love.
Full Oneshot Coming Soon!!

Remember the bogeyman speech from John Wick? Make everything but its anticipatory build completely indecipherable, keep it building for an hour, and then multiply the cathartic release of the following cinematic violence by a hundred and you've got the opening acts of this immense picture. Almost nothing ever makes sense, but that score! that man! that violence! Holy shit! And then it's all undermined by the protagonists being active participants in human trafficking and the mass murder of civilians, goddammit.
