New upcoming film: L'home dels nassos

Director Abigail Schaaff's first fiction film, "L'home dels nassos", a combination of mythology and historical memory, began shooting at the beginning of February and will continue through the first days of March. Before "L'home dels nassos", Abigail Schaaff has directed various series, such as "Ventdelplà", "La última", "El ministerio del tiempo" and "Madres. Amor y vida".

The film is a period drama that combines adventure and fantasy, and through this mythological being, a man visible only on December 31 and who has as many noses as days of the year.

Set in 1968, the film tells the story of three children, in a mountain village, who try to escape from the "home dels nassos" (the man of the noses), a mythological being, visible only on the last day of the year, who captures lying children, has informed the distributor Trafalgar.

The feature film connects the 1930s and the 1960s and reflects the lies and silence imposed for decades, starring Pablo Derqui (Isabel, Los ojos de Julia, Si no t'hagués conegut, La Catedral del mar, La dona del segle) and Ivan Benet (Cerca de tu casa, Nit i dia, Teatre Lliure: l'ànec saltvage, Moebius).

The cast also includes Mercè Llorens (Mesrine: Parte 1. Instinto de muerte, El Comisario, Hospital Central, La niña de la comunión), Pep Munné (Caza al asesino, Visions d'un estrany, Lifting de corazón, Periodistas, Smiley), Maria Molins (El bosque, A la deriva, Hijo de Caín, Entrevías), Jeannine Mestre (Goya, Tornarem, Savannah Bay, Vértigo en Manhattan), Jorge Motos (Lucas, La Caza. Monteperdido, Tú no eres yo, Con mis ojos, Feria: la luz más oscura), Berner Maynes (Después también, Svetlana: Moderna del Raval), Malcolm McCarthy (Nieva en Benidorm, Cuba libre, Amar es para siempre, Foodie love), Salli Diallo, Miranda Munné and Lluc Miravete.

Filming is taking place in different locations in Catalonia, such as Mura, the hermitage of Sant Julià d'Uixols in Castellterçol, the Collsuspina cave, the forest and the Romanesque bridge of Gualba and Can Plantada, in La Ametlla del Valles.

The film is a co-production of Aguacate & Calabaza Films, L'home dels nassos AIE, Inaudita and the French production company Halley Production, and in turn, has the support of Televisió de Catalunya, ICEC, ICAA and CREA SGR.

1, 4 and 23 for the oc meme? :O

1. Your first OC ever?

I had... several really early OCs that have been more or less lost to the mists of time, and I’m not really sure which came first!

Serena the Rabbit was my first Sonic OC, and I’ve really been thinking about revisiting her! She was a calm loner type that would pop out of nowhere to help and then run off before anyone could talk to her. (My first that actually interacted with anyone was Caryn the Echidna, who was a friend of Knuckles before they lost track of each other despite being... on an isolated... flying... island. Yeah I was kinda dumb. She was actually revamped into Kara the Bettong!) I also had a Power Ranger used on the playground (I was not pretty enough to be Kimberly or Trini and not boy enough to be my actual favorite character Billy); it was the purple Velociraptor ranger. Aaaand the Speed Racer OC Roxy, who I’ve considered using as a Transformers character or just a random racer OC. Those are the three oldest, I’m just not sure which is the VERY oldest!

4. A character you rarely talk about?

I’ll go with non-fandom OCs for this - I talk about them a lot less than my fan characters in general. Cynthia Diallo is the direct superior to Haneko and Ciprian in the supernatural/paranormal containment and protection agency they belong to; she’s an extremely powerful magic user, but her actual power is so specialized and dangerous that she’s pretty much a Big Gun when she’s not acting as a command figure. (Basically, she can manipulate elements - periodic table, not magical - so that’s Doctor Diallo because of all the research and education doing anything useful with her power requires.)

23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?

Cynthia again - she was initially a tough Strong Woman type with buzzed hair, but after I stepped back and looked at the stereotypes I’d pinned on her she ended up evolving into a more elegant figure with long dreads and design and personality cues that owe a lot to the likes of TP!Zelda and other Princess figures. 

(As a bonus, Dusty was also originally a sort of stern Military figure, but almost immediately became a cheerful, indulgent Team Dad when I started actually writing him. Original Dusty would never have dreamed of insistently addressing Sally as ‘nutkin’ [and occasionally ‘lil nutkin’ despite her being quite a bit taller] among other things. Now King Acorn himself couldn’t stop him.)

Guinea's President Alpha Conde wins third term

Guinea’s president, Alpha Condé, has won a controversial third term with 59.49% of the vote, the National Independent Electoral Commission declared on Saturday.

His victory came amid widespread protests that were violently suppressed by security forces.

Some people went on to the streets to protest immediately after the announcement. Such demonstrations have occurred for months after the government changed the constitution through a national referendum, allowing Condé to extend his decade in power.

Opposition candidate Cellou Dalein Diallo received 33.50% of the vote, the electoral commission said. Voter turnout was almost 80%.

Political tensions around the election in the west African nation turned violent in recent days after Diallo claimed victory ahead of the official results. Celebrations by his supporters were suppressed when security forces fired teargas to disperse them.

At least nine people have been killed since the election, according to the government. The violence sparked international condemnation by the US and others.

A policeman was killed in Guinea’s capital, Conakry, on Wednesday during clashes with opposition supporters who burned barricades in the streets after initial results from Sunday’s presidential election showed Condé in the lead.

“Today is a sad day for African democracy,” said Sally Bilaly Sow, a Guinean blogger and activist living abroad. The government should take into account the will of the people who have a desire for change, he said.

On Friday, internet and international calls were cut off across the country in anticipation of the election results, according to locals and international observers in Conakry.

This was the third time that Condé had faced Diallo. Before the election, observers raised concerns that an electoral dispute could reignite ethnic tensions between Guinea’s largest ethnic groups.

Players to watch

Experienced winger Marco Reus has made a strong start to the new season. The 29-year-old German has been ever-present for the BVB and has scored two goals and produced three assists in six games across all competitions.
