Sam knew that Bucky truly did hate this, but at least he was trying. He had been invited to the party as Captain America and he had convinced an unwilling Bucky to come, mainly so he wouldn’t have to be alone.

“I know, and I’ll make it up to you,” he promised, his hand on Bucky’s shoulder. The crowds made him nervous too honestly. It felt like all eyes were on them. “I needed you though…”

At that, Bucky’s expression softened and he turned to Sam. He looked incredible dressed up, his nicely tailored black jacket covering all but a glint of the metal on his left arm. His shirt was a deep dusky purple and yeah, Sam definitely had the best looking date in the room.

“You okay, Sam?”

Sam let his hand slide off Bucky’s shoulder and down to his hand, which he held. He had never been too bad with crowds but the pressure of being a public figure was a lot.

“I am now.”

What are the guidelines for the bingo?

I will be borrowing some of this from the MYSU Valentine’s Day Bingo 2022 Guidelines, since they were fantastic.

For Everyone:

1. Remember to @sambuckylibrary in the post as well as #sbgift2023.

2. If you’re uploading to AO3, please:

a ) Say somewhere which prompt you’re filling.

b ) Add it to The SamBucky Gift Event 2023 Collection (SamBucky_Gift_Event_2023).

For Artists:

1. Create at least one piece of new art that can’t have been posted anywhere else before this.

2. All visual art forms are welcome:

a ) Gifsets, at least 3 gifs.

b ) Aesthetic boards or moodboards, at least 4 images each.

Things to be mindful of when creating:

For Sam

Avoid framing Sam only as a caretaker or emotional support for Bucky. Be mindful of Sam acting angry or aggressive in an out-of-character way and falling into the angry/sassy Black man trope (check out the MCU source material to help with character traits).

Avoid decentering Sam as a main character and refrain from focusing entirely on Bucky.

In art: avoid whitewashing Sam’s skin and research drawing Black characters.

General disclaimer: Race affects every aspect of his life, including interacting with police/government and the white structures of the world when it comes to performing his duties as Cap and simply being a Black man that lives in the U.S.

For Bucky

Avoid phrasing “flesh/normal/human hand” to refer to the contrast between his prosthetic arm and his right arm. The phrasing is ableist. You can simply refer to his prosthesis when relevant, otherwise use “right/left arm/hand”.

It’s fucking coffee, of all things, that finally does it. Or, Buck buys Eddie's favorite brand of coffee for his loft, and Eddie's brain short-circuits, leading to a realization.

Eddie’s foot feels heavy on the gas pedal, while his hands grip the steering wheel tightly, to prevent them from shaking. He’s driving almost on autopilot, while trying his best to compartmentalize and focus on just getting to the hospital, trying not to think about Buck- about what’s happening in the back of the ambulance right now. Or, after the drive to the hospital after Buck's hit by lightning, Eddie loses it. Sort of 6x10 coda.

He can’t help but think that this is some kind of sick joke from the universe, which he doesn’t believe but he knows Buck would. “The universe is screaming at you and you refuse to listen” is what Buck said once, it feels like a lifetime ago. He didn't believe it, then, either. And now the universe is mocking Eddie, having him have to tell their kid about Buck, just like Buck had to tell him about the shooting. Eddie doesn’t know how Buck did it, how he had the strength, because he’s on the verge of breaking down and shattering into a million little pieces. Or, Eddie goes home to tell Christopher about Buck getting hurt.

Or, Buck wakes up from his coma, and Eddie, done with wasting time, confesses his feelings.

WELCOME TO SARAHBUCKY MONTH!

Welcome to our second annual celebration of Sarah Wilson and Bucky Barnes! We decided to change it up this year and will be hosting a gift exchange for the holiday season.

Assignments will be given out the week of November 27th.

I know something you don’t know, and I got something to tell ya 🎶🎶😭

Like, again lol, I’d never presume to speak for everybody, but I’ve been thinking about it since my post the other day, why SamBucky has fallen out of the top 100, why writers aren’t writing. I mean, last year I posted a fic every month except January, sometimes multiple fics a month.

And I know my break isn’t due to their “divorce era,” because a couple I’m shipping being out of each other’s orbit has never made a difference to me, just ask any couple I’ve ever shipped in my life lol. And it’s not because I’m done with the MCU, because my buddy and I were just discussing the hate that Phase 4 gets the other day, and I literally pulled up the Phase 4 Wikipedia page and took a look, and there was only one project in there that I just didn’t care for. The MCU has always had some projects I loved, some I liked just fine, and some I thought were basically average, and that’s how I feel about Phase 4 (I could write 1000 words about the unrealistic and silly hate newer MCU projects get, and how it makes no sense logically, because the MCU was never 100% bangers, but I’ll spare you lol), so it’s not like I’m suffering from “superhero fatigue” 🤢 (I loath that phrase)

Nope, I think it’s the feedback. Not even really the lack of feedback at this point, because engagement on here and ao3 started drying up in the middle of last year or so, and I was still churning stories out. Nah, it’s the type of feedback. People have really lost their minds in comment sections this past year. Not even just in mine, even though mine have been off the hook lol.

Sometimes I’ll be reading a fic, not even always a fic I like, I’ve seen it in fics I loved and fics I’m literally about to close because they’re not my cup of tea — but I’ll be reading a fic and go to scroll the comment section because I’m nosy lol, and I’ll see the most out of pocket, obnoxious, outrageously rude comment I’ve ever seen in my life.

We all dislike fics. Hell, I’ve seen some doozies myself, but you’re not supposed to tell the author about it in the comment section. I mean, a negative comment on a fic on here or ao3 is for like a truly exceptional circumstance, (even then I’d just close the fic…), not because you just didn’t like it… or because it wasn’t what you thought it was going to be… or because the author didn’t write a particular character the way you headcanon them. That’s nuts.

And if the fic truly pisses you off, I get that, boy do I get that lol. Even then though, you’re just supposed to vague post about it and be shady on here… not comment on the author’s actual work. Like if you hate my fic, then by all means, vaguely complain about it on here like a normal person, or DM your friend about it, but don’t give me a 2 star review in my comment section because I used a trope you don’t like.

Oh… and why are people airing their grievances about other things in the comments of a fic? Be on ao3, commenting, talking about everything BUT the story.

And… why are y’all acting like the grammar police in the comments of folks’ fics? Again, I’ve seen some grammar that made me genuinely sad, but I didn’t tell the author about it, because I’m not a dick.

Lol this is another long and rambling post from me, and it really could’ve been summed up with this: It’s hard to be motivated to write, even for your OTP, when you know there’s a good chance you’re going to get some bullshit comment because readers suddenly forgot how to act.

long story short (it was the wrong guy) (2.8k, ed/stede): This is a more recent one, but it was so much fun to write, and i really fell in love with this show/these characters this year, so :')

sweet nothing (2k, stevetony): so far, the only midnights-inspired fic i've written, which feeels impossible honestly. just domestic sweetness really!

honey, honey (1.2k, sambucky): So much of what i wrote last year was part of my january writing challenge, this included! i feel like this is a ~personality~ fic because it's everything i love: sickfics, banter, people taking care of each other

only you (1.8k, stevetony): i combined two of my favorite things, schitt's creek and stevetony and it was so much fun!

fall for you (1.7k, stevetony): this is another one that was just cute and fun to write + dogs! they meet in a dog park and tony literally trips over steve's dog <3

I started creating and posting on here again in 2022, I literally posted my first sambucky fic on January first 2022 at 4am because i was drunk and smoking on a balcony and i had to get it out of my head.

And being creative and sharing with people that care about the same thing as me has been a pretty amazing experience all over again. This year I’ve made friends on here that i will cherish my entire life, I would go as far to say that i made a best friend here this year

Those words brought Sam to an equally humorous, stunning and terrifying conclusion: the public didn’t know he and Bucky were a couple. It was funny, really. They hadn’t discussed coming out as a couple. It had happened during the holidays and they’d just enjoyed their time together.

They hadn’t hidden their love either, though. They were even spotted holding hands only a week ago, captured by a tabloid.

Sam froze up, wondering what he should say. What would Bucky want?

Luckily, Bucky had just finished talking to the detective on duty. He had just caught the statement.

“I sleep in his bed and we have a cat,” he said. “Bit more than his friend.”

Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me with some information about this?

I am still in college, and I really want to work and have a source of income to save up for my future education. I just don't know how to get started. I am inclined towards copywriting and proof reading, because I sufficiently well-versed in English (I think) and that's the kind of work I won't feel burdened by. I am also in third year of med school if that's a skill set (?) I can put to use?

So if anyone could please tell me how to start and go about it? I have heard of Fiverr and sites like that, but a bit more information would be really helpful. Thanks!

So I watched Eternals (finally) and... God. It wasn't bad or anything, just the star cast raises your expectations and the movie is unable to meet them. It was also sad to see Hollywood making a mockery out of Bollywood once again. This has to stop, c'mon. A true example of representation for representation's sake.

And Eros is just Harry Styles at a fancy dress party. Walks like him, talks like him, and is also Thanos' brother for some reason. I just don't get it. At all.

Also watch Marvel contradict themselves in terms of timelines and shit. The Eternals are presumably in the same universe as the rest of the Avengers, no idea how that's supposed to work out.

The only people in the movie that remotely made me root for them were Druig and Makkari. Loved those two sooooo muchhh.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

81 so far, and always working on more haha

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

481,097

3. What fandoms do you write for?

currently only 911, but I did write mcu and spn and if inspiration strikes might go back (kinda missing sambucky tbh, might need to write something for them soon haha)

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

(four out of these are buddie, last one is my first ever sambucky fic that's still somehow up there lol) 1. For a holiday (and forevermore) 2. I can't love you any more (than I do now) 3. There’s no way that it’s not going there (with the way that we’re looking at each other) 4. I'd marry you with paper rings 5. "You should smile more"

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

generally angst is not particularly my thing, and there are always happy endings in mine lol - but around the lightning arc I wrote a few angsty-ish fics, and I guess these two might count? Fine and don't know what I'd do if your tomorrow never came

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

like all of them have happy endings haha - but i'd say the holiday fic -For a holiday (and forevermore) - might be the happiest?? (or just satisfying after the slow burn and them being fake dating oblivious idiots haha)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

not really, I did get like two not so nice comments ever (one even very recently, and I'm in a place where it hit harder than the previous one lol but it's fine) but generally I don't, my comments are filled with love and I appreciate that so much <3

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do now lmao - it's the very sappy kind with lots of feelings - other than that, I'm still trying out new stuff haha

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I don't - there's one that I'm not sure if it counts but I did write a mcu with netflix marvel shows crossover bc I'm dying to see Jessica Jones interact with Bucky lol - nothing crazy tho, just them lowkey trauma bonding - but other than that, no, not really writing crossovers, idk, haven't tried any yet haha

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

don't think so

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

nope

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

got two requests but their ideas were so not my thing, so no, I haven't idk if i'd be good at co-writing but if we vibe and the idea is good I won't say no to trying haha

gotta say buddie, they took over my brain like no ship ever before

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

the 5+1 nicknames fic - something there is just not working and I want to rewrite the whole thing but can't get around to it - this and one other fic have been postponed since like january, don't know if I'll get back to them tho i want to :(

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I'm pretty good with dialogue and feelings and in smut I'm good at making it soft and sweet but also hot and horny at the same time haha and usually can write characters so that they don't feel too ooc (I think? that's the feedback i often get, idk lol)

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

overusing the same words over and over again (but like, synonyms don't hit the same lol), probably way too many adverbs, and I'm not great with descriptions of characters or places etc and trying to work on that haha

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

feels awkward - a word here and there is fine, but whole conversations both in reading and writing feels awkward and out of place idk (I think I wrote a whole line in one fic and it's so bad haha)

19. First fandom you wrote for?

when it comes to shows, spn - destiel before that, unfortunately, was rpf and 1d but we don't talk about that

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

it's between the possessive smut and the car smut tbh lol I love both so much (possessive maybe a bit more tho? just a tiny bit haha - but gonna link both here lol)

don’t mind me, I’m just getting wine drunk and thinking about Sam being way too tipsy at a block party, waxing poetic to Bucky and showing him off to all his old neighbors, blatantly boasting about how hot his boyfriend is.

Bucky mocks a seriously hungover Sam about it the next morning, all the while feeling all gooey inside that Sam likes him that much.

okay, so, a concept:

back in the 30s and 40s, when Steve and Bucky would go out to bars, Steve would always try to match Bucky drink for drink

but, Steve was also 95lbs with no money to keep his stomach full, so of course he can’t do that without getting hammered

so, when’s not looking, Bucky takes heavy sips from Steve’s drinks to keep him from blacking out w/o embarrassing him by pointing out he can’t drink as much

flash forward a hundred years, give or take, to Bucky at cookouts and block parties and poker nights w Sam

now, Sam can obviously hold his liquor a bit better than preserum!steve, but, still, the man loves to drink and these parties are his only time he can let loose and drop the Cap persona

Bucky doesn’t want his bf to make himself sick (or have to get his drunk, wriggly ass over his shoulder and back home), and, without a literally absurd amount of alcohol drank rapidly, Bucky’s not even getting tipsy

So, once again, different idiot, same dumb habits, Bucky’s finishing up Captain America’s drinks for him

"What the fuck?" Kagami shouted, the moment his back collided with the wall leaving him for few second breathless.

"Shut up Kagami, just shut up!" Aomine roared, digging his nail in Kagami shoulder just touching the red head nose with his.

"No!" Kagami hissed, trying to flip the position, but not being able to do anything.

"You are driving me insane, why the hell you can't be like any other idiot I find in my way, why you need to be..." Aomine stopped, closed his eyes and finally closed the distance, crushing their mouth together shutting down all possible words from Kagami, and finally giving in, letting that fire finally burn free and consume him from inside out. Letting Kagami devour him and finally stop all the voice in his head.

Silence.

Aomine moved a little just to make some distance between them, just to see better the red lips in front of his eyes puff out warm and stinky breath, making his nose wrinkle.

“Are you ok?” Kagami murmured unsure after few second of silence, making Aomine double up with laughter and cover his face on Kagami chest. “What the hell did I said to make you laugh like that…?” Kagami asked now confused, but letting his arms just move oh their own and wrap around Aomine.

“Right…” Aomine said in a hoarse voice, wiping away tears that spilled out of his eyes “That’s why I love you Bakagami.” Aomine ended up raising his head and giving a light kiss on Kagami parted mouth, before moving away and back to the court, leaving back a stunned and flushed out Kagami, still processing what just happened.

“Are you coming or not to play?” Aomine asked after few steps, turning a little with a cheeky grin on his face, making Kagami finally snap back to reality.

“What was that?” Kagami whispered touching lightly his lips, before shouting “TELL ME THAT AGAIN!” and reaching to take the basketball from Aomine hand, and failing.

At that Aomine started to laugh again, and moved on a side.

“Take this from my hand, and I’m gonna tell you the three words again, and again…”

With that Kagami just smiled and launched himself toward the ball, again and again, and again, just to hear the magical three words another time.

Just another time, and maybe more in the future.
