Hi! Love your art, love your fic (Lazarus Left The Tomb has me in a stranglehold atm, lol), and I had a question, if you'd be willing! You may have already answered this in some form, but Re: your Tucker tattoo designs- how'd you end up figuring them out? Did you have a specific culture/language/design/Halo Lore you were basing them off of, or did you just draw until it Felt Right, or a secret third thing? Sincerely, someone trying VERY hard to develop their own tat-canon and not doing well lol.
THANK YOU!!! I'm glad you like the fic, hopefully I'll have the free time to finish up the next chapter when spring break hits next week. (Here's the link to the fic for those who haven't seen it yet)
And no one has asked, but I'd be happy to elaborate! For the tattoos, I wound up mainly meshing abunch of Forerunner symbols together. (Below the Read-More cause images)
Tumblr media
The core basis of the design is a Forerunner mural that reappears few times, and works really well with making an abstract representation of Tucker's energy sword and with putting other symbols in it.
Tumblr media
The symbol at the top is a glyph that represents an unlocked door on one of the Shield Planets in an ARG advertising Halo 3. Which, is cool, and also, the sword is a key that can unlock temples. And people's deaths.
Tumblr media
The symbol in the middle of Tucker's back is a fusion of a symbol you can find on Sangheili Zealots and the symbol that represents 'Reclaimer'
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reclaimer being a term used to refer to those who inherit the Mantle of Responsibility (and therefore the ability to interact and use Forerunner tech. EX. Master Chief). The Mantle of Responsibility is represented by the 'Eld', this symbol which I put on Tucker's lower back.
Tumblr media
The lines beneath it, I specifically intended to make resemble the hilt of his energy sword, cause. Of course.
I did alter the curvature of some of the symbols to better mesh aesthetically with the whole mural. But, it's pretty much all Halo Lore, which I will soon have more of, because I now own the Forerunner Trilogy novels.

I decided to add halo Aliens to fnaftale's story, because fuck my life-
Anyways-
Here's a Sangheili OC for my fnaftale AU
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's a dwarf Sangheili. He was sent to an orphanage as an egg, and was born with a severe breathing problem. He still has some breathing issues, but they don't get in the way of his adventure work too much.
His adoptive parents are Unggoy, that he still looks up to. He's 4' 3". His name is Kiva 'Tugam.
I would put more about him, but I don't have that much motivation to Go over his character right now qwq
Bonus:
Canon Sangheili drawings too! Their armor is hard to draw-

Sangheili Bracket Round 2 Match 11
More info below:
Meduu the Fierce:
Debuted in the Halo Encyclopedia (2022 edition)
The daughter of the legendary Xytan 'Jar Wattinree, Meduu violently took control of her father's property holdings after his death.
Additional commentary: Did not realize how little info there was of her in the encyclopedia. Honestly, I imagine her to have inherited her father's genes of massive fucking height. So badass warrior woman who's huge. What more do you need than that?
Submitted propaganda: Xytan 'Jar Wattinree's daughter. We know basically nothing about her except that she took control of all her father's property holdings through force. She's probably extremely intelligent and badass and stupidly TALL, just like her old man. Meduu would be the coolest character ever if someone actually remembered she existed.
Asum 'Mdama / Bakar:
Debuted in Halo: Glasslands
Born Jan. 20th, 2542 as the second son of Jul and Raia 'Mdama and the younger brother of Dural. He was trained in combat by Naxan - the great-uncle of Raia. When he learned of his mother's death in March 2553, he went to nearby fields to mourn. Then, he began to be fostered by Kasha 'Hilot as he assumed the new name of Bakar. She would take him to Onyx - her new place of work - and he would attend the Pax Institute while there.
It was around September 2558 that Molly Patel would transfer to his school, leading to her, Kareem El-Hashem, and Unggoy Gudam Keschun to come across him being bullied by three human peers. He would at first avoid trying to defend himself, until one of the bullies hits Gudam hard enough to draw blood. However, just as a full-on fight ensues, an instructor named Dinok 'Acroli breaks it up. The next day, Molly would be forced to sit at the same table as Bakar, giving him the opportunity to chastise her for making him look weak, until the other two arrive. Their attempts to become friends with him causes him to leave. Later, he would be stuck in the same self defense lesson being taught by Spartans Tom-B292 and Lucy-B091 with the same trio. During a field trip to the Repository, Bakar would open up to the trio a little and bond with them. Then, things took a turn when a beast called a rafakrit attacked. Kasha would go to distract the beast to save everyone else, only to get injured in the process, leading Bakar and his new friends to launch a risky plan to save her. After this, the Spartans and Director Mendez talk with them, which would then lead them to sharing with Bakar the identity of his father: Jul 'Mdama (due to Sangheili customs, he did not know this before). Even after learning the Covenant remnant leader was his father, Bakar would continue to feel hatred toward him. Also during this conversation, they would warn him that his brother had joined up with the Servants of Abiding Truth and had possibly infiltrated Onyx. However, much later, Cortana's message would be sent to all of the galaxy and Onyx's Guardian would awaken. Bakar was at school be it occurred, forcing him to join those hiding in the cafeteria. When Prone to Drift arrives, he and his friends concoct a plan to have Drift reach the Guardian and disrupt its communication with Cortana. Then, the Servants of the Abiding Truth attack the school, killing some people and taking Drift away to the Repository. Bakar and friends would pursue, using some creatures also chasing the Servants in their plan to stop them. After catching up, Bakar would confront his brother and beg him to stop, while Dural felt he had been dishonored and should kill himself. In order to keep the attacking creatures from hurting Bakar, Dural chose to whistle a distraction and sacrifice himself, being carried away. Another creature would remain, but Lucy would arrive and take care of it, getting injured in the process. The kids would take her and Prone to Drift away in the Pelican Lucy brought, then fly close enough to the Guardian so Drift could disable it. Now, Bakar is amongst those living in hiding from Cortana due to Onyx's slipspace bubble being reactivated.

🍎 🍑 🍋 🥝 For Vusa and Sindri :3
This one got long, answers under the cut!
[RED APPLE] Who does your OC value above all else?
Vusa doesn't really have one person she holds above everyone else. She lost all of her sons in the Covenant War and feels that loss a little every time she sees young, idealistic Sangheili men ready to give their lives without any real thought to whether that life will be wasted versus spent. She is quite fond of Captain Lasky though and will mom him at any opportunity since his own mother has her own important business to attend to.
For Sindri it's complicated. They've lost so many of their Spartan siblings over the years, and had almost everyone they managed to befriend also ripped away either to 'toughen them up' or simply as collateral in the war that they have a hard time letting themselves open up enough to really bond with anyone, or at least to express that bond. All canon aside, while they're generally aloof, they do have a chaotic side that comes out in the company of her SIII siblings, Jeannie, Talia and Artemis (Who belong to @dancing-coyote @antsyserpentine and @borealtwilight respectively) and if they're threatened and/or abused outside of a combat scenario, whoever's responsible will not have a quiet death (with only one or two exceptions)
[PEACH] How do they show their kindness? How kind are they truly?
Vusa moms you. She has the patience of a saint and will make sure you're cared for or nag you to take care of yourself. Her kindness runs deep, but she won't say if it's due to the loss of her sons to the Covenant's lies.
For Sindri, it's once again complicated. Being a Spartan III, they are kind and patient even under duress when it comes to civilians or even other soldiers, although their patience will eventually wear thin with the latter. Showing that kindness is a different story. Usually the subtle gesture of simply choosing to occupy the same space as them comes off as unnerving or as them just loitering. They have been known to give 'strange' gifts from time to time, usually in the form of mundane items like odd or interesting looking rocks and MREs.
[LEMON] What is their kryptonite/ultimate weakness?
I'm not really sure for Vusa, she's been through so much in her many. many decades and is long past suffering fools or letting the men browbeat her into her 'proper' role as a matriarch.
For Sindri though, feeling helpless is their Achilles heel. Usually this comes in the form of manipulation by way of threats on their family/friends from ONI that are framed as if any harm done to them would be Sindri's fault for not doing as they're told.
[KIWI FRUIT] How does their outside appearance differ from who they are?
Well, for Vusa, nobody really expects the Sangheili equivalent of a kindly great grandmother to be walking around in a battle harness. As far as personality, Vusa is pretty much 'what it says on the tin'.
For Sindri there isn't any difference between how they look and who they are. For their personality, the difference is vast. Like most (if not all) the Spartan IIs and IIIs, they're absolutely stuffed to the rafters with trauma that gets largely ignored and suppressed. That aside, they're actually pretty creative, and sometimes draw and doodle when they're alone or around others they are comfortable with, and they also enjoy cooking (which mostly consists of altering MREs in ways that would probably poison a non-Spartan) when they have the chance.

~please click and/or open in new tab for better view!
Though war took the only family I had, strangely enough in the end it changed me in ways I never thought I could, and I found a new family despite it.
I did a little history-photo-series of my ODST character Roy Prince because I felt inspired to! I also have been meaning to draw him with his new squad lmao. His first squad from left to right is Private first class Shelley, Gunnery Sgt Hanson, and Lance Corporal Dogwood. his NEW family which is my lovable ODST team I adore from left to right is Private first class John Johnson, Private First Class Curt C. Creamer, JubJub the Unggoy, Khoza ‘Kadomai the Sangheili, and lance corporal Marlin Fish.
Roy was a lance corporal sniper ODST who spent many years fighting with his first squad but one day lost them all as well as his eye. After the funeral, he fought with depression and his life being drastically changed with reassignment. eventually he was given his new squad with a leadership role, and now lovingly guides them and protects them (even their annoyingly lovable grunt).
anyways I hope you guys like this as much as I do, enjoy! More about my squad under the cut!
(please don’t repost or use these images, and leave my description; thanks!)
John Johnson- 6 ft tall - eager to please and will always follow orders being a bit of a kiss-ass type. he’s very peppy, optimistic, and friendly and will always try to make the best of things but is jumpy, easily upset, and very empathetic. he tries to be proper and mature but loves his friend to pieces and is diehard loyal.
Curt Cordelia Creamer- 6′ 3″ tall - Sharp minded and intelligent with machines, he’s an excellent pilot, mechanic, and engineer who loves machines. he’ll put them together and take them apart in all kinds of ways, and gladly take any chance he can get to keep his feet off the ground disliking exercise despite being a soldier. he’s gained a bit of a chub from this, and is pretty calm and immovable trying to keep his team mates calm and in line but he’s a crowd follower and not much for being on his own. he and his partner jubjub get into shenanigans in the garage quite a bit..
Marlin Fish- 5′ 11 (one inch taller than prince) - lazy and easy going, he’s always quick to joke and slow to get moving but once he’s serious he’s the second best human soldier on the squad to prince. hard to get through to, once he trusts someone he becomes die-hard loyal, but getting him to open up without scathing sarcasm and rejection is harder then prying a rusted foot thick metal door open. he’s a proud owner of a sangheili tooth necklace, a trophy thanks to the one that dared to bite his arm. he tends to be the first to get into trouble with his sarcasm and outgoing attitude and lack of a filter sometimes.
JubJub- ??? I have no idea how tall he is. 4ft something- enthusiastic and very narcissistic, he believes he is a prodigy that humans bow to and consistently reminds them of this. he loves to shout his name at anyone for no good reason really, and loves being by creamer’s side because he’s his favorite human (see: minion) who helps him with building fun machines. having been given mercy from creamer he’s forever loyal to him and loves his new family despite them being so big and ugly! (at least to him)
Khoza belongs to @scarecrane, ask them about him!

Sangheili Bracket Round 1 Tiebreaker 2
More info below:
Kitun 'Arach:
Debuted in Halo 5: Guardians
Part of Jul 'Mdama’s Covenant, he would be present in the Battle of Kamchatka, leading a lance fighting back against Promethean forces. He would form a temporary alliance with Fireteam Osiris against the Prometheans, before they left him to continue on their mission to kill Jul 'Mdama. Following the Covenant leader’s death, Kitun would look to figures like the late Imperial Admiral Xytan 'Jar Wattineree for inspiration on the Covenant’s new direction. He also became disinterested in continuing the war against humanity, largely due to the costs. Later, he would be one of prominent commanders during the assault on Vadam and the Battle of Sunaion. Between these battles, he would receive a message from his brother Jacul to join the Swords of Sanghelios, but he instead would request his brother switch sides to the Covenant. The two brothers would then meet in battle at Sunaion, with Jacul dying and Kitun being mortally wounded with only enough time to leave a final message regarding their fight.
Additional commentary: Yeah, unlike other Mission Intel figures, you actually meet this guy in the flesh. Canonically, he’s the Covenant Sangheili you make a temporary alliance for the achievement Enemy of my Enemy, with that achievement being canon since he then goes on to do all that stuff on Sanghelios you learn through Mission Intel.

Who was your first OC?Do you still write your first OC?Who is your favorite OC?How would you describe your favorite OC?
A) My first OC that I ever created (which was when I was like 8 or 10?) was a self-insert dragon girl who used my IRL name (which is Paige!). She was basically a hybrid of Spyro and Cynder (specifically from the Legend of Spyro trilogy) in terms of design, and over time more or less evolved into her own thing. I hardly draw her nowadays but she has a very, very special place in my heart.
Tumblr media
As for the first OC I roleplayed on Tumblr, well that was a self-insert Spartan OC that used the (very creative name) of Paige-116. Don't remember anything about her except for some vague, wack-ass backstory about her being like, half-Forerunner or something. I don't really write her anymore, and if I ever wanted to I'd want to give her an actual proper backstory and what not.
B) My favorite OC? That's kind of hard. I have like... a bunch lmao
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, going from top to bottom:
Tyrene, a Marauder OC. Lowkey tsundere for (my) Doomguy. Name is taken from the Forerunner/Ancient Human name for Earth in Halo lore, Erde-Tyrene.
Silas Watson, an Evangelion pilot. He's actually made for a EVA/Kaiju server I've been spending a lot of time on called Ode to Despair. At one point he was in a relationship with Shinji but uh... a LOT of shit happened, and he ended up becoming a Arch-Judicator/servant for the Worm-in-Waiting. There's another Silas running around but the two are different individuals despite being basically the same.
Astrai! Made specifically for a homebrew table top RPG campaign hosted by one of my friends, where the setting was basically "half-people half-monsters living on an island." She's basically an Astalos Furry™
Not really a OC, more so a self-insert/persona. Or sharksona.
Swift-With-Arrows (art not mine). She's an OLD OC of mine from waaaay back when I was introduced to Skyrim by my older brother.
And finally, Vekem 'Talamee (art also not mine). He's also a pretty old OC that hasn't really gotten any love lately, but the gist behind him is that he's kind of a psychotic Sangheili who thinks that the honor customs for his species is a bunch of bullshit that's just holding them back from their Real Potential™. Also really, really, really fucking racist towards humans.
So yeah. Lots of choices. I can't really pick a fave out of all of them lol
