Jelang Piala Presiden, Perseru Ganti Pelatih
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SERUI — Perseru Serui harus menunjuk pelatih baru dalam hitungan hari jelang bergulirnya Piala Presiden 2018. Pelatih Agus Yuwono dikabarkan memundurkan diri dari kursi pelatih kepala The Black Orange.
“Kami ucapkan terima kasih banyak atas kontribusi Coach Agus Yuwono terhadap Perseru Serui. Semoga kami dapat bekerja sama kembali di lain kesempatan,” tulis pengumuman resmi Perseru, dikutip dari laman resmi Liga Indonesia, Sabtu (13/1).
Sebenarnya manajemen Perseru masih ingin menawarkan kontrak baru kepada Coach Agus. Namun, Agus memutuskan mengundurkan diri karena faktor keluarga. 
Pelatih yang menggantikan Yusak Susanto di pertengahan Liga 1 2017 lalu itu harus jauh dari keluarga selama bekerja untuk Perseru. Keluarga Agus semuanya di Malang segingga sulit baginya untuk menikmati waktu berkualitas bersama keluarga karena jarak yang cukup jauh dari Kepulauan Yapen markas Perseru. 
Agus spesial di mata Perseru karena pelatih asal Malang itu berjasa membuat Perseru bertahan di Liga 1 musim depan. Padahal selama liga musim lalu, Perseru selalu berkutat di zona degradasi. 
Namun, mereka bisa selamat setelah racikan Coach Agus mampu mengalahkan Persib Bandung di laga terakhir sehingga memaksa Semen Padang menggantikan mereka di zona degradasi menemani Persegres dan Persiba. 
Perseru pun harus mencari pengganti. Untuk menggantikan Agus, Perseru menunjuk Alexander Sanunu sebagai pelatih. 
Alexander Sanunu belum ada pengalaman melatih di kasta tertinggi. Pengalaman pelatih 48 tahun itu adalah membesut PS Badung, Bali dan di tim PON NTT. Baru tahun ini, dia mendapatkan lisensi A AFC. 
Kemampuan Sanunu akan diuji di grup C Piala Presiden yang akan berlangsung di Stadion Gelora Bung Tomo Surabaya. Lawan yang sudah menanti Serui adalah Persebaya Surabaya, PS TNI dan Madura United.
