Unpopular opinion? The apology was perfect.
a Dori 🐠 rambles post
Apparently my brain has decided not to move on from Top Form. But with an episode that gave us all of this:

why am I stuck here???
I just can't stop thinking about that scene; what I wanted from it vs what happened vs what Akin needed.
Trigger Warning: SA/rape
Before I go any further, let's make a couple things clear.
Akin has nothing to be ashamed of. He was not responsible for what happened to him. Period. Choosing to become intoxicated does not mean you are responsible if a predator takes advantage of the situation. It is never the victims fault. However, that doesn't mean people in that situation don't blame themselves. I wish Akin had been angry at the right people instead of himself, but Akin's reaction is tragically common and relatable. And as much as it would have been refreshing to see Akin angry, I respect the series for showing us this very toxic and real reaction to what happened to him. This post will be focusing on Akin's feelings and in no way am I implying he should feel this way.
It doesn't matter if it was SA or rape. The violation to one's autonomy doesn't change. No one here is minimizing what Johnny did because he got turned off when Akin said someone else's name and stopped. And I don't think the show was intending to do that either, even if it includes the toxic forgive and forget we commonly see in Thai dramas. But not knowing what has happened to you, if anything, is a trauma all by itself. It's okay for Akin to be relieved to know just how his body was violated, even if it doesn't change that his autonomy was stolen.
I apologize in advance if any of my word choices or attempt at explaining my thoughts causes any discomfort. I'm doing my best to explain what I saw in this story/characters and what they were feeling. If any of my phrasing comes across as insensitive or dismissive, please give me the benefit of the doubt and some room to be human.
On to the main event
I initially felt pretty meh because the apology didn't give me everything I wanted, but I was willing to call it good enough and move on. But I've changed my mind. The more I think about it, the more it feels like the perfect resolution.
🐈 Kat did an excellent job talking about what WE wanted vs what Akin needed in this amazing post. And I agree, Jin gave Akin exactly what he needed in Episode 7.
I know a lot of us had different reactions to episode 7. I'm not here to tell people they are wrong for interpreting things differently from me or for wanting something different from the story. I was angry as hell at Jin for his behavior in episode 6, and although I could understand his pain, I had a lot of things I wanted from episode 7. I was not ready to forgive Jin easily. But as Kat pointed out, Akin wasn't mad at Jin. Akin already felt ashamed and guilty for what happened, Jin didn't cause that. What made things worse for Akin in that garage was seeing Jin in pain. He didn't need Jin to apologize because Akin felt he was the one who was at fault.
Akin didn't need to forgive Jin, he needed to forgive himself, and Jin deserves massive credit for recognizing that.
I do believe Jin felt awful for how he had reacted and for leaving Akin. Initially, Jin's own pain and feelings had made him blind and deaf to Akin's suffering. Even fearing that Akin had cheated, knowing Akin was lying to his face, what Jin desperately wanted was for Akin to give him hope that there was still something to fight for. So when Akin couldn't give him that, Jin fell apart. But just because I can understand Jin, that isn't an excuse for how he added to Akin's pain and I wanted him to take responsibility for every one of Akin's tears in that garage!
But as much as I was angry at him, I honestly don't believe Jin was looking for an apology from Akin in episode 7. I don't believe his tears in that theater were about him hearing Akin say sorry, I think it was his reaction to seeing Akin's pain, not understanding what caused it, but knowing he was part of it. In that moment, Akin's pain became more important than his own and Jin needed to do something about it. Only then does he confront Johnny. I don't know what Jin suspected, but the fact that he recorded the convo is telling. I think he was looking for a way to help Akin, not clarify if they had slept together or not, so he could give Akin the answers he needed and the tools to forgive himself. I don't think it mattered at all to Jin how far things had gone. Once he realized Akin was hurting over what had happened, Jin had the hope he had needed to fight for their relationship.
And then that's what Jin did:
Akin texts Jin to meet. Jin is excited. But Akin came to give back the necklace. Akin: "Sorry. I'm probably not right for it." Jin askes if that's is really why he came and Akin says yes. But there is pain and longing there and Jin sees it and it's the hope he needs. So he kisses Akin and Akin falls apart.
Akin is the first to apologize because he blames himself. But Jin wasn't looking for that and immediately says he is the one that should be apologizing. Not because he was wrong about what had happened with Johnny, but because he knew he had left Akin alone. Jin: "I'm sorry for making you sad. I am sorry for leaving you that day. I'm sorry. You're not wrong." But Akin's shame won't allow him to believe Jin's words that he wasn't wrong. He doesn't believe he deserves Jin's apology or love. And Akin falls more and more apart as Jin continues to apologize and fights to run because it all hurts too much.
Jin is trying to reach Akin. Trying to get him to understand. Jin: "I love you. I'll never let anyone take you away from me." But this is exactly why Akin got out of that car. He knew how Jin felt about him, could see Jin's pain, and Akin couldn't bear being the source of that pain.
Jin can see the way Akin's shame and self blame is tearing him apart, so he reassures Akin that he didn't sleep with Johnny. Not to minimize Akin's SA or imply that somehow everything is okay as long as there wasn't actual sex. It's to reassure Akin that what he feared most, what he couldn't forgive himself for, didn't happen. That Akin has nothing to hate himself for, nothing to regret. (not that he was ever to blame, but that is how Akin felt) And Akin's reaction to this realization is shattering to watch.
Jin tells Akin over and over again that he did nothing wrong and Akin is finally able to hear that and believe that and the healing can start.
And I apparently live there now.
I was absolutely sick about what they did to Akin in episode 6. I have done a lot of mental gymnastics to overlook toxic messaging in series, but this time it had gone too far for me just to be able to ignore it. There was a narrow path that they could walk for me not to rage quit this show and it involved being VERY clear that Akin was not responsible for what had happened to him. And we got that. And even though I didn't get the groveling Jin and angry Akin I wanted, I think what they gave me was better for the story they were telling. I said I needed them to make me respect the story they were telling to forgive them for this story line, and I am relieved to say that they did just that.
They showed just how ugly and traumatizing SA can be. They made it messy and hard to swallow and showed the harm that can be caused when people do and say the wrong things to someone already in a self loathing shame spiral. And then we saw the difference love and support can mean for someone struggling with misdirected self blame. So well done to the script and epic acting in delivering a truly devastating story.
Also, very much appreciated the flash to Akin being drunk and Jin caring for him. Being drunk isn't a crime and I am glad to see that reflected in the inclusion of that clip.
Editing to add that the apology wasn't perfect for me (and I said as much in this post), but I do feel it was perfect for the characters, their relationship and this story.
If you made it to the end of this, welcome to my head. 🤣 Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk!
Here's Kat's excellent post if you haven't seen it already:

Astrology observations
paid readings 💐

- your sun sign might be where people look up to you for example people with a Libra sun might have people asking them for relationship or connection advices or might look upto them in that aspect
- your 12th sign can also show what kind of birth your mother might have had while having you for example with scorpio it might have been very traumatic and possibly alot of things might have changed with your birth
- i always say this but if you want to know the environment of someone's home look at their 4th house but to know how THEY are treated in that environment you have to look at their sun and moon even saturn at times that will tell you more accurately about their relations. Bc I've seen in alot of charts and home's that the environment is generally pleasant but not for that person
- if there's an artist that you feel most connected to or with their music it's possible that you are share your big three placements with them lmao I've checked so many charts with my friends and all the artist he liked had placements in common with him
- people with a prominent venus might always have people taking advantage of them look at where exactly the venus is placed to see in which aspect someone with 1h venus might feel used bc of their looks it always reminds me of the lyric "but you don't feel pretty, you just feel used"
- people with jupiter in their 12h are straight up delusional and overconfident but guess what this also ends up making up excellent at manifestation lmao
- people with saturn in 5h might either get into relationships too late and if the ruler is in 11h or something they will be in frequent online relationships
- if you have a stellium in 5h and your partner has a good 5h house too you will see them being the artist and you being their muse(my boyf and I have this lmao)
- while determining your career make sure to check your 2h as well as it deals with finances for example I have my 2h ruler in 8h and I sure do earn from my paid astrology/tarot readings on tumblr (check them out btw)
- you can think of your 4th and 10th house as cause and effect like nature vs nurture or what happened and what you got out of it. for example you have taurus in your 4th house and scorpio in your 10th house this can show you coming from a extremely traditional and fixed value families which has made you yearn for change and it will directly manifest in your career
- tw// sa
I've seen alot of people with mars in their 8h being sexually assaulted by people in public? Especially men by men
- tw// death?
Mars in the 8h people tend to have this feeling that they're going to die an extreme violent death, I've never quite seen other people know this?
- if you know someone with moon conjunct saturn in their 12h, you need to know that all you can do is TRY to help them you cannot save them no matter how hard you try. Alot of things mostly everything honestly is hidden from them by their own subconscious you can tell it to them 1000 times and they still will be on the level one
thankyou so much<3

I can listen no longer in silence. I must speak to you by such means as are within my reach. You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it, eight years and a half ago. Dare not say that man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death. I have loved none but you. Unjust I may have been, weak and resentful I have been, but never inconstant. You alone have brought me to Bath. For you alone, I think and plan. Have you not seen this? Can you fail to have understood my wishes? I had not waited even these ten days, could I have read your feelings, as I think you must have penetrated mine. I can hardly write. I am every instant hearing something which overpowers me. You sink your voice, but I can distinguish the tones of that voice when they would be lost on others. Too good, too excellent creature! You do us justice, indeed. You do believe that there is true attachment and constancy among men. Believe it to be most fervent, most undeviating, in
F. W.
I must go, uncertain of my fate; but I shall return hither, or follow your party, as soon as possible. A word, a look, will be enough to decide whether I enter your father's house this evening or never.
This is propaganda for the next round because I need my boy to be a finalist! But this letter is all the persuasion I need to know that he is a winner https://youtu.be/NYSzac4mccA?si=Ijn-pbMLTjKW_-SA

just saw romulus im so so normal about it NO IM NOT. GOD IM NOT IM GNAWING AT THE BARS OF MY ENCLOSURE GAAAUUGH
my thoughts + spoilers under the cut :3
• giger would be so proud of this film. so yonic. so phallic. my god. Every vagina shaped thing gave way to the most sinister form of life. Every penis shaped thing was violently penetrating. Super duper leans into the original underlying themes of SA. got under my skin like crazy
• this film combined all my favourite elements of alien (slow burn immersive horror), aliens (great action) and resurrection (human/xeno hybrid) I literally cannot fault it at all
•the offspring (babymorph as me and my bf dubbed it) BAD BAD SO BAD THROWING UP IN MY MOUTH I was legit shaking and had tears in my eyes I have never been so close to screaming in a cinema. 1000/10 creature design. I knew something horrific and fucked up was gonna happen after the pregnancy reveal but JESUS
• Andy's actor was AMAZZINNNGG. The way he played "regular" Andy vs "evil fuckass weyland-yutani synth" was seamless and perfect and he was my fav character
• Ian Holm's cameo felt...... weird. I generally don't like dead actors being reanimated in cgi anyway even with the consent of the family yadda yadda but... blegh. The cgi felt a little dodgy on his face as well but tbh the glitchy jilted nature of it really added to him being a damaged synth LOL
• references were v cute. might be ott to some but I liked it
•PRACTICAL EFFECTS MY BELOVED. BIG SCARY ASS PUPPETS MY BELOVED. GOO AND SLIME MY BELOVED
• the whole birth scene shook me to my coooorrree. As someone who wants to be pregnant and give birth nothing has gotten so under my skin like that before. The ides of doing your best to nurture what will be your child only for this fucking horror to come out of you.... oh my god......... AND LACTATING THE GOO?? ARE YOU FR????????
• mostly smart characters in this movie which I appreciate! the whole zero g acid blood vortex scene was very funsies
• great score. Calls back to the original but not too much
• PERFECT set design. Felt like watching alien isolation as a movie
• I love that they went back to a more analog clicky buttons/flicky switches aesthetic, the holograms and touchscreens of prometheus and covenant never felt right
• the black goo as an almost intelligent substance is so so fun. It "speeds up evolution" but it's smart enough not to destroy its host outright. The offspring was gestated in an egg sac containing fucking acid BUT it didn't hurt kay (until she birthed it and it no longer needed her)
• also the offspring not growing its xeno tail until it consumed the last of the goo from kay? Very nice touch
• JUST. PREGNANCY AS A GROUNDWORK FOR HORROR. SO UNDERUTILISED. SO EFFECTIVE.
• this films chest burster scene... dare I say....scarier than the original. Watching her ribs crack with the xray machine.... YUCKY
• me and my bf has settled to calling the black goo Promethean Fire. This isn't part of the review I just like that hehe
• when I heard the name Romulus I mentioned to my bf about Romulus and Remus being raised by wolves and I was like "what if this is the start of the crossbreeds like in resurrection?" AND I WAS FUCKING RIGHT BITCH!!!!!!!!!!
•Sound design was excellent, the thumping huge heavy footprints of the xeno felt sososososososo good with the cinema surround sound auugghhg
ANYWAY I FUCKING LOVED THIS MOVIE. If u wanna share any thoughts pls do in insane about this :)

My banned book list has grown! (But I'm still taking recommendations!) X is the books I or someone in my household has.
[X] 1984 - George Orwell - Dark, dystopian, relatable
[X] All Quiet on the Western Front - Erich Maria Remarque - Very sad, not a happy ending, semi-autobiography based on author's experiences in WWI
[X] Animal Farm - George Orwell - heavily influenced by politics at the time which mirror our own
[ ] Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood - Triggering dystopia, clear depictions of violence of all kinds towards women, primarily discussing women's rights and how we're essentially seen as breeders and cattle
[X] Lord of the Flies - William Golding - Commentary on society and herd-mindsets, discussions as to what makes us "civilized" and how easy it is for people to become uncivilized in times of distress.
[X] I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings - Maya Angelou - Poetry, written by a black woman who survived way more than most
[X] A Farewell to Arms - Ernest Hemingway - Similar in vibe to All Quiet on the Western front but it's Hemingway
[ ] Uncle Tom's Cabin - Harriet Beecher Stowe - Banned for racism, but an excellent book nonetheless as it shows reality
[ ] The Outsiders - S. E. Hinton - Class conflict following Oklahoma greasers. (there is also a Broadway musical with excellent music now)
[ ] A Clockwork Orange - Anthony Burgess - a future dystopia and portrays the younger generation deciding to rebel against the "way the world just is."
[ ] The Call of the Wild/White Fang/Anything by the same author - Jack London - Good stories in general, some outdated terms and phrases but overall a good author (you can get collections of his stories)
[X] Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury - An accidental commentary on how bad censorship is
[X] A Christmas Carol - Charles Dickens - obviously good, much shorter than I had expected
[X] The Scarlet Letter - Nathaniel Hawthorne - Commentary on women's treatment, religious zealotry
[ ] Holes - Louis Sachar - Commentary on the American prison system, generational curses
[X] The Lord of the Rings (series) - J. R. R. Tolkien - Accidentally mirrored a lot of his experiences in WWI
[X] The Chronicles of Narnia (series) - C. S. Lewis - Just a good series, ngl
[ ] Gulliver's Travels - Jonathan Swift - Has been described as a good example of what it's like to be autistic
[X] The Book Thief - Markus Zusak - A little girl in Nazi Germany and her adopted parents help hide a Jewish man in their basement, she steals books to read
[ ] To Kill A Mockingbird - Harper Lee - A commentary showing kids seeing the justice system they will one day inherit and how they can affect it now
[ ] Little Women - Louis Alcott (often dead-named as Louisa May Alcott) - Kinda sad and funny story following a group of sisters
[X] The Count of Monte Cristo - Alexander Dumas - Commentary on the justice system, the prison system, and the consequences of revenge
[ ] One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - Ken Kensey - Life in an asylum and commentary on the concept of sanity vs. insanity
[ ] Don Quixote - Miguel de Cervantes - Honestly worth the read just for the side stories
[X] The Day the Crayons Quit - Drew Daywalt - Basically baby's introduction to strikes and unions
[X] The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas - John Boyne - The son of a Nazi officer befriends a boy in the concentration camp his father runs
[ ] The Metamorphosis - Franz Kafka - A commentary inspired by Kafka's experiences as a disabled/chronically ill person, sad ending
[ ] The Odyssey - Homer - It's excellent, but heartbreaking. (Has depictions of SA on Odysseus and threats against Penelope and Telemachus)
[X] The Crucible - Arthur Miller - The dangers of panic and of religious zealotry, especially without asking questions
[X] Maus (series) - Art Spiegelman - Comic depiction of a man's father's recollections of being in a concentration camp.
[X] Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet - Jamie Ford - Follows two students from Seattle during WWII
[X] The Diary of Anne Frank - Anne Frank - Saved diary of a Jewish girl in Nazi Germany, published after her death in a concentration camp by her father and only surviving member of the family

[ ] The Hunger Games Series - Suzanne Collins - dystopian story of children fighting a war against the ruling class (1984 without the bread and circuses)
[ ] The Story of Ferdinand - Munro Leaf - A children's book of a peace-loving bull who just wants to smell flowers
[ ] Make Room! Make Room! - Harry Harrison - book that inspired the film "Soylent Green"

[ ] They Called Us Enemy - George Takei - Autobiographical description of experiences in the American concentration camps for the Japanese
[ ] My Lost Freedom - George Takei - Children's book about his experiences as a Japanese-American in WWII
Maybe I'll do book reviews about the ones I've read...

Gotta ask about your Genderbend version of Monsters vs. Aliens.
Given on how that Susan's masculine name would be "Sam", what Feminine Name be for either Gallaxhar or Derek?
(I know that Derek's a jerk in all) but I'm curious on what sorts of mind of "Naming" each Character of the opposite Gender compare to the Monsters themselves that you did?
Excellent question. Well, for the first one, Gallaxhar, we chose Gallaxitress, a combination of Galaxy and Mistress.
Now for Derek, there name would be changed to Denise.
Now with the naming, idk. We talked, made them as we went. Most of the inspirations (listed in the early two post of this AU) for this swap affected the outcome.
Do hope this answers it.

Sam Heughan; Catriona Balfe
I read and look at almost everything written and shown in photos here. I find it somewhat weird to read the things that some shippers seem to imagine is truth. First of all, let me assure everyone here I have never met nor written or talked with Sam; I do not know him pers1onally. Nor do I know Cait, though she does not get quite the same publicity.
Catriona: She is a marvelous actress, and she is NOT Claire in any way that I can see. She has a contract for Outlander, and she does many things in the part that can be somewhat misleading to anyone who understands reality. I would imagine Tony will also be happy when her contract runs out and she can be seen as the wife and mother she truly is.
Otherwise, I have seen several of Catriona's movies, Ford vs Ferrari (which I own a DVD) where she plays the wife of Ken Miles in the 1968 movie of the French 24-hour race, and mother of Paul Miles. Her character's name is Molly. She keeps her clothes on. She also appears in Money Monsters in a large important part, and she keeps her clothes on. Lastly Belfast, where she portrays a woman married with two sons, in the 1969 story of the troubles in Belfast, Ireland. She is also excellent there, and keeps her clothes on. She plays opposite James Dornan, and a good job of it.
Sam Heughan: he also is on a contract for Outlander, and such, plays a lot of nude scenes. He and Claire are a grand couple, but they are fictional characters. In real life, though, Sam is an excellent business man, an entrepreuneur with many awards for both his business acumen and his benevolence. He is also publicity knowledgeable, happily, in looks, with the way too much required of him, but which he certainly understands the amount of time required of him in many ways.
I have also seen several of his movies: SAS The Black Orchid; The Spy Who Dumped Me (I have that DVD); Love Again. I think he is a pretty good actor, and will get better as he gets movie parts after his obligations to Outlander.
However, while I believe Sam may be in search of a permanent partner in life, I do not think he has the time to give to be a full-time husband and father. He is still young enough to get this when he is ready. I see photos of him with many women, some for business, some for photo ops, some with women who I suspect being a red-blooded man, he likes to date. I see him with buxom, athletic blonds, and know that is probably his preference in personal life. I know he is a touchy-feely type of person who enjoys putting his arms around one's shoulder, and taking out to dinner, or perhaps other activities which are personal to him. I do NOT think at this time that he is spending all that time looking at each date as a permanent companion. I would think he gets a little tired of always being in complentation of permanency. I rather knows he is aware he is not quite ready to be a full-time husband or father, having to spend a lot of his time out of the public's eye.
I know some of you will immediately jump up and ask why I say these things about him, why I think I know him. I do not know him personally, nor am I ever going to. However, I have lived a long time, known many men and many people, and have been intelligent enough to learn from actions how to read their foibles and lives.
So if think you should understand that I maybe give him more the benefit of the doubt in his life choices than maybe make up stories about him because of what I would love him to be.

Sedex Certification vs SA 8000: Key Differences You Should Know

In a world where ethical business practices and social compliance are not just appreciated but expected, global manufacturers are turning to internationally recognized standards to prove their commitment. Two of the most prominent frameworks in this space are Sedex Certification and SA 8000 Certification. While they might seem similar at a glance, they serve different purposes and apply to different business needs.
Before diving into the comparison, if you’re unfamiliar with how Sedex Certification works, we highly recommend exploring this detailed guide: 🔗 Sedex Certification: All You Need to Know – It covers everything from audit types to real industry examples that bring clarity.
And if you're seeking expert consulting or wish to implement either of these standards in your organization, feel free to get in touch here: 📩 Contact 4C Consulting – Your trusted partner in management system implementation.
Understanding Sedex Certification
Sedex (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) is not a formal certification but a data-sharing platform that enables businesses to monitor, manage, and improve ethical performance across their supply chain. Sedex Certification usually refers to SMETA audits (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit), which assess a company’s compliance with key pillars like:
Labour Standards
Health & Safety
Environment
Business Ethics
These audits can be 2-Pillar (Labour and Health & Safety) or 4-Pillar (including Environment and Business Ethics).
Example: A food processing unit in Gujarat exports packaged meals to UK retailers. The buyers require the supplier to be Sedex-compliant. A Sedex 4-Pillar audit ensures the business meets their ethical and sustainability criteria.
What is SA 8000 Certification?
SA 8000 is a social certification standard developed by Social Accountability International (SAI). It focuses exclusively on workplace conditions and is rooted in international human rights, ILO conventions, and national labor laws. Unlike Sedex, SA 8000 is a formal certification issued by accredited bodies.
It emphasizes:
No child or forced labor
Safe and healthy workplaces
Freedom of association
No discrimination
Fair wages and working hours
Management systems to uphold these standards
Example: A leather goods manufacturer in Kanpur looking to sell to European clients may pursue SA 8000 Certification to demonstrate ethical labor practices, thereby gaining a competitive edge in socially conscious markets.
Key Differences: Sedex vs SA 8000
AspectSedex (SMETA Audit)SA 8000 CertificationTypeAudit methodologyCertification standardFocusBroader – ethics, safety, environmentFocused – labor standardsRecognitionPopular in UK, EU retail supply chainsGlobal ethical certificationValidityBuyer-driven (often annual)3 years with surveillance auditsNatureVoluntary platform for transparencyFormal third-party certification
Which One is Right for You?
If your goal is to meet supply chain transparency requirements and quickly become compliant with buyer expectations, Sedex is a great starting point.
If you're aiming for deeper integration of ethical labor standards into your company culture, and want a globally recognized seal of approval, SA 8000 is a better fit.
Many businesses opt for both—Sedex for audit visibility and SA 8000 for social credibility.
Final Thoughts
The modern consumer and stakeholder want more than just a quality product—they expect ethical sourcing, fair labor, and social responsibility. Whether through Sedex certification with examples like SMETA audits or a structured program like SA 8000, your commitment speaks volumes.
