Thinks about how when we see Tyl Kyoko, she’s hiding from people who want to kill her in an abandoned warehouse and this is never brought up again

For Kyoko and Haru especially, their hero is dead. The person who always saved them is dead

Kyoko is praying for her brother and instead she sees the ghost of her childhood friend come to rescue her

Lambo, too, who is weak and can’t fight well and is thinking that he’s got to get Haru nee-chan away because she can fight even less than he can and I-pin is all they have to rely on until his big brothers arrive and how long have all of them been subjected to this. To being rats in a maze while Byakuran and his group gleefully hunt them down and Tsuna… Tsuna won’t be there to save him.

Except he is.

Just not the one they wanted.

If you think about it one of the first things Reborn does with Tsuna is setting him so the problem of guardians / his family are his own problems.

Yamamoto is jumping from the roof of the school 'cause he can't play baseball the same anymore? Well, Reborn pushes Tsuna so he's also falling and now Tsuna has to save Yamamoto and himself.

Goukudera is trying to kill Tsuna? Well, time for a face off where Goukudera will eventually fuck up and put them both in danger of exploding with all the dynamite, forcing Tsunade to save them both.

And that's just two examples. Reborn alao shoots Kyoko with the vongola bullets, reversing Kyoko and Tsuna's classic roles. When Lambo appears, Reborn makes it Tsuna's problem (he's too good as a hitman to care). He puses the fight between Ryohei and Tsuna, constantly forces Tsuna to be a victim of Hibari. He creates absurd scenearios to put them all in danger, so Tsuna and his guardians slash friends have to survive somehow, save each other somehow, struggle through the same, share memories, etc.

Reborn had to simulate at least half the shit other mafia families had to face in Italy. The Simmons, Varia, the Kokuyo gang.... We're talking about real persecution, possession, insane plots and lies and experiments and death all around. Together.

Reborn approaches it like a hitman. He's a terrible mentor in that regard 'cause he is really cruel and manipulative and he doesn't care even a little bit. The Vongola need a successor? Cool, he's gonna either find one or make one. He became destiny itself. Reborn toyed with everyone and everything, so when time came that the Vongolas needed to face enemies that weren't fabricated by Reborn, Tsuna's motivation was not much as winning for the sake of glory or his family honor or revenge. He wanted to win because he wanted to protect his family and his friends.
