We are proud to be co-presenting Victor Schertzinger’s "Forgotten Faces" (1928) at the San Francisco Silent Film Festival’s Day of Silents, Saturday, December 2 at San Francisco’s Castro Theatre. FNF prez Eddie Muller will be introducing the film.

Heliotrope Harry (Clive Brook) and Froggy (William Powell) are partners in crime—genteel armed robbery—at least until the cuckolded Harry commits an even bigger offense. Before Harry goes to prison, he leaves his baby girl on the doorstep of a wealthy couple to keep her out of the clutches of his no-good wife Lilly (Olga Baclanova) and tasks Froggy with keeping close tabs. also bis grad ebend hab ich mich eigentich gefreut das jetzt zu gucken. zumal ich die letzten 5 Sekunden einfach vorspule dann gibt's die nicht. aber jetzt bin ich so oh NOOOOO.

aber das liegt wahrscheinlich eher daran, dass es generell die letze Folge is. nich so wie Rostock und Mgadeburg die ja noch laufen und im Mai neue Folgen kriegen.

finds immer noch wild dass ne Visitenkarte dazu führt, dass die da hingeholt werden aber gut

so. die kamera hätte hier sehr gerne 2cm weiter links stehen können.

das hab ich mir schon im November gedacht, als ich einmal alle Anna und Paul Szenen geguckt hab weil ich die für die Encore-Story brauchte. und ich hab seitdem nicht aufgehört drüber nachzudenken. Ich habe ein Recht darauf, das hier besser sehen zu können. und finde wir sollten uns alle einmal kurz darber aufregen düfen.

dieser moment, meine lieber Paul, ist der moment, in dem du sie nochmal fragst, ob ihr ZUSAMMEN zu Fannys Liederabend gehen wollt. aber is okay ich kann verstehen, dass du komplett überfordert bist grad.

anna. obviously bist du auch zu fannys liederabend eingeladen. das was du nicht wusstest ist nicht der Liederabend generell sondern, dass Paul mit dir dahin gehen wollte. zusammen zusammen. als Date. weil er das nich gefragt hat. zumindest nicht laut. du weißt von dem Liederabend. deine Frage war nicht: hä? was für n liederabend. obviously bit du eingeladen.

finde es auch eine frechheit, dass wir nicht sehen was jonas denn genau zum buffet beisteuert. will seinen frankfurter kranz sehen. oder was er macht, der is ihm ja zu langweilig xD

ich muss euch auch leider mitteilen, dass auf ihren schreibtisch das polizeiauto von ihrem sohn nicht liegt. das gabs in 2 Folgen (potentiell mehr mir is es halt erst in luna frisst oder stirbt aufgefallen) und es ist enttäuschend. like das nimmt doch echt keinen Platz weg ey lasst das doch da. für mich

ich will wissen, wann diese supervision war. und wenn sie nich mehr weiß was genau sie da so gesagt hat, wieso weiß er das noch? und seit wann redet sie sich ein, dass brix noch nie ihr typ war? seit Kassel? wahrscheinlich. das würde potentiell auch erklären, wieso sie letzte Folge nicht sehen konnte/wollte, dass er ganz sicher nicht die Annette Baer so toll fand. wenn sie sich das alles einfach intensiv eingeredet hat zu dem punkt, an dem sies selbst glaubt. naja

hab ich erwähnt, dass ich ihren pulli mag? der sieht auch n bisschen aus, wie der den sie in Der Turm an hatte während sie da leicht obsessiv die Fotos ausm Fahrstuhl angeguckt hat

finds auch sehr lustig. dass sascha nathan bis die guten und die bösen als KTU Typ dabei war. da hieß er uhlich. und jetzt voll random is er herr schweigkhardt und wir ignorieren das komplett.

der muller typi war auch in einer anderern folge dabei. falscher hase glaube. aber auch jemand komplett anderes. Hessen hat scheinbar aus ganz deutschland echt die wenigsten schauspieler ^^

auf dem poster für die ausstellung steht nov 11-31. was blöd ist, weil ich der meinung war, das hier spielt im februar weil der dr. lange im winterurlaub is, und winterurlaub macht man nicht im november imo, ähm aber auch ... november hat nur 30 tage also was genau bedeuten die zahlen? datum kanns dann ja gar nicht sein. was wieder gut ist, weil dann kann ich bei februar bleiben aber ? ((mir egal, dass die das im november gedreht haben und das dann damit weider viel wahrscheinlicher ist.))

also ich finde die szene hätte gerne nich nur ne einbildung sein können. nur dann halt ohne ihn. obviously

ich liebe wie anders sich wolfram kochs stimme anhört als er salut fanny sagt. aber in den anderen folgen wenn die mal französisch gesprochen haben, hat er sich nich so anders angehört. oder es is mir nich aufgefallen

all in all ja eine sehr gute folge. vor allem wenn man direkt nachdem anna sagt "ich hätte genau jetzt lust bei dir einen kaffee zu trinken" zum abspann vorspringt. so wie das ja auch war.

verstehe nich ganz wieso sie die unterhaltung nicht bei fanny führen konnten. da hätten wir auch das lied im intergrund gehabt. gut dann hätts die umarmung mit jonas nich so gegeben sie ja auch sehr nett war

aber EIGENTLICh hatten sie die Unterhaltung bei Fanny. während ihres letzten lieds. und dann kann paul auch statt zu sagen "ich dachte du fragst nie" nochmal erwähnen dass er ja eig selbst gefragt hat. nur scheinbar nicht laut. und dann war er überfordert. ja ganz eventuell hab ich da noch ne story als WIP die is aber lang und dauert noch ne ganze Weile

aber eigentlich auch schön, die Unterhaltung so im Auto zu haben. dann danach das Auto noch zu Anna fahren sehen. oder halt die Straße lang. wir wissen sie sind auf dem Weg zu Anna. weil er das ja gesagt hat. So ein schönes Ende hach

I can’t remember. F.W. Murnau (John Malkovich) is filming Nosferatu (1922), but isn’t reclusive star Max Schreck (Willem Dafoe) taking his role of the vampire way too seriously? In some ways it’s a curate’s egg of a film. It certainly helps if you are a lover of old classic film and have some knowledge of the source material at the film’s core. It’s a fabulous concept that the screenplay is based around, that the star of the film may actually be a real vampire, and the whole production is executed with consummate skill (Dafoe was deservedly Oscar nominated as were make-up artists Ann Buchanan & Amber Sibley). But come the end it fizzles out and proves to not have delivered on its devilishly intriguing premise. Fun, though, and tech credits all round keep one well involved. 6/10

Niklas Wandt - Erdtöne - percussion & electronics from the “Kraut Jazz Futurism” label Kryptox

After he hit their sweet spot with a little 3/4 psychedelia on the ‘Kraut Jazz Futurism’ compilation, new Berlin based imprint Kryptox (yes, that new label dedicated to new jazz electronica phenomenas from the uprising German scene) do the sensible thing and tie down nomadic percussionist Niklas Wandt for his first ever solo EP. Anyone with a dancing shoe dipped in the underground will recognize the dungareed Berliner from collaborative outings with Bufi-body popper Wolf Muller, synth shaman Sascha Funke or his NDW dream team Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge (whose funky bassman Timo Hein helps out here), and now he’s rolling (mostly) solo with four tracks of far out head music. Largely built around improvised drum jams recorded in Wandt’s rehearsal space in Berlin, the sounds on the EP mutated and matured before assuming their final form under the mix.
