I’m so glad people are talking about the orange is Patton’s family theory I have believed in it for like a year

So let’s follow the logic of orange being rage or wrath or whatever word for anger, this is usually an extension of that theory. Patton is Thomas’ feelings. Anger is a feeling. So maybe there was a split. Some people think Patton is his dad other people think orange is his twin/younger brother.

Not only does this make sense but giving the man who tries to be a father figure for everyone family issues will do something to me, and depending on Patton’s role in orange’s situation this could lead to Patton being the cause of or the receiver of some crazy angst. Also also if they’re siblings parallels between them and the creativity twins? Trauma bonding or alternatively one of them tries to relate to one of the twins but they snap that they can’t relate because Orange and Patton represent different things while Roman and Remus are halves of the same things and therefore are constantly compared to eachother.

And a fun spoiler for the small amount of very cool people who like my side OC au:

A split between anger and the rest of the emotions happened with my sides! However instead of my orange splitting off of [redacted] the original side split into two the same way the creativity did, so basically they died. This death actually is a big plot point that affects the narrative even before the dark sides are introduced. Annnd TCM character’s are young teens at the start so [redacted]’s split would be wayyyy more recent for them than it would be for the canon cast, I’m sure everyone’s fine :)

Sanders Sides OC introductions!!! (TCM au act one) intro explanation/context to the au here

Yapping about them under the cut!!!

Since I got some reason decided attempting a fanseries was a good idea I’m going to be vague about spoilers and the sides will be referred to be titles instead of their actual names, I’ll probably give up on being vague about spoilers eventually but for now I’m trying

Let’s start with the basic one: it’s me but not really: TCM!Crescent

Taking the role of c!Thomas: Crescent is the protagonist! The one whose mind everyone else is apart of! They’ve only just been introduced to their sides and will learn more about them as we go. His personality is a combination of the four he’s met. She’s creative, kind hearted, emotional, anxious, a bit awkward, and simultaneously very smart and very stupid! Well, that’s not all he is, but we don’t have to think about that, do we? TCM is a fun show where we only have to deal with the problems we want to face, we can just ignore that, this place is an escape and no one is going to change that.

Crescent is different from c!Thomas in well, they are literally just different people. Crescent is a teenager with a different gender and sexuality. I guess in terms of what they do in the story the first difference I think of is that Crescent is more aware of certain parts of themselves. This won’t stop him from acting just as oblivious though.

Now we have Artist: Embodiment of creativity, imagination, passion, and ego!

Artist takes the role of Roman! They’re passionate, creative, brave, a bit hyper, and the most confrontational of the group. He likes to act as a hero, even having a “magical girl” (despite not being a girl) form to transform into! She’s very willing to fight or get aggressive when nessecary, maybe even a bit too much. Funfact: the two dots on their crown are eyes! Her crown’s name is Ray and they’re what she used to transform into Ember Knight (the name she gave her magical form). Funfact 2: Despite being the creative side of a horror fan, Artist doesn’t like horror! Wonder what that’s about…

In terms of differences from Roman, Artist is less regal and overall has different vibes and demeanor. She also takes his thing with wanting to be a hero up several notches. She’s also less likely to just insult her friends for no reason, she will be kind of rude but with reasons. Basically if someone’s rude to her she’s rude back almost imeadiatley and she’s very aggressive towards people she has unresolved conflicts with.

Next up is Intel: Embodiment of intelligence, reason, and logic!

Intelligence, or Intel as literally everyone calls them for short takes the role of Logan! The most knowledgeable side in the mindscape, Intel is just as smart and rational as you’d think they’d be. They can be overly cold and serious at times, but that comes from a genuine desire to get things done and help out. And boy does she do a lot of helping! With Crescent being a former gifted kid who now as a teen is almost always in advanced classes (or art related classes, at least Artist can handle that part of their school) and with Intel always trying to use reason to calm the others down when things get serious, he certainly has a big job! Just hope they can handle it.

Intel acts a lot like Logan but the vibes are shifted to the right (listen it’s hard to describe how she acts I swear she’s different) but her arc and struggles are very different. Because of how much Crescent needs her she’s very hard to ignore so she isn’t really, tldr burnt out gifted kid needs a break.

Then there’s Heart: center of feelings and morals!

(I know her color is kind of hard to see I’ll fix that eventually) Heart takes the role of Patton! She’s kindhearted, empathetic, and very sensitive. The least aggressive or confrontational of the group. They’re the youngest of the gang, everyone is physically and more or less mentally the same age as Crescent but Heart formed the most recently. However they’re not a child and will dispute claims they are. Being the newest to the group they have big shoes to fill and he’s still learning how to do that best, can Heart really fill the void he left behind?

While Patton is seen as the group dad, Heart is often seen as the group child (even if she disputes it.). Her arc involves a lot of coming into her own in different ways.

And finally there’s Stress: embodiment of fear and anxiety!

Stress takes the role of Virgil, including starting out as an antagonist. At this point in the story they’re very rude and condescending, masking everything underneath a scary persona they’ve had as long as anyone can remember. But it has been a while. Him deciding to be a threatening presence within the show was a bit surprising for the other three sides, ever since the incident she’s mostly done her job remotely, staying away from direct confrontation with the others unless something major happens. So why do this now? There’s something deeper that they’re connected to, and I don’t think Crescent wants to find out what.

Stress has more energy than Virgil, but you won’t notice that at first because the scary persona definitely takes some of that energy to keep up. Her motivations are also pretty different from his but I’ll keep that a secret for now (she has the most complicated backstory out of everyone you will see)

So like, I said I was working on a fanfiction of my sanders sides au about by sona and ocs in c!Thomas and the side’s places. I think that’s dead now? I’m worried that if I did try to make TCM I’d either never finish due to lack of motivation (this was my special interest when I first made these ocs and for most of their existence, it’s not anymore) or it would turn into something made with bitterness towards canon, which is never something I wanted it to be. But at the same time I’m not devoid of love for canon and I’m definitely not devoid of love for TCM, I adore these ocs and their story, and part of me still wants to tell it?

So it’s either canceled or indefinite hiatus, unless you want to hear a stranger ramble about her au you can go now that’s the announcement

I don’t plan on scrapping these ocs, I have an idea for a new original story using these characters, but because of the nature of TCM as a fan au making it not one changes a lot of what the characters were, which is kind of sad because… even if TCM was incredibly derivative even for SaSi OC standards there’s a lot I put into those characters that I really liked? And all of that is gone now?

I’m aware I’m the only one who cares about this and I’m not upset about that fact, this fandom got me through a lot and was very important to me in so many ways even if I never became one of those popular fanders. Which btw I am kind of leaving the fandom/already left and just forgot to announce it? Idk. I’ll reblog SaSi stuff here sometimes, maybe use this sideblog for the original story with the ocs if I decide I want to do that?

Overall I think this was worth it, even if the au never fully realized itself I think it was pretty important to my development mostly for the better. I don’t know if anyone even follows me but I feel like it’s important to explain radio silence when you’re in a fandom where one of the main criticisms of its creator is not being transparent about when things are coming out (/lh)

Hi chat! Sanders Sides OC au (TCM au) fanfic update no one asked for but it’s important to ME that I’m transparent with people so here’s a little progress report (+ a fun sneak peak at part of the first chapter):

I’ve been trying to finish their ref sheets so I can draw some stuff, as I want art to accompany the fanfic chapters. Unfortunately I have been procrastinating this big time and currently have three of the six refs I need done for the beginning of the story. Once I get the refs done I also need to actually draw the things for chapter one, which I want a a lot more art for than I will for most chapters (for context like the entire act one cast gets introduced in chapter one)

Chapter one is I think in a completed state, I need to check again and maybe fix a few details but it’s done. I just need to stop procrastinating this art

My estimate for when chapter one will be out is sometime before the canon season two finale or before the sun explodes /j. Okay but for real I don’t know when I’ll be done with this, my interest in SaSi keeps fluctuating but I am determining to tell this story so it will be out eventually, hopefully in the next few months.

(Context: this takes place towards like the middle? Of the chapter. Right before this moment some dark side foreshadowing happened and local cringe self insert is too observant for his own good)

“Okay, okay pause,” Crescent interjected, bringing the conversation away from ominous things he didn’t know about and maybe didn’t want to. “Why is my anxiety here? Like I know I have anxiety I can’t really avoid that, but why is it sentient? This is my video series shouldn’t I get some say in it?”

“Well maybe you should’ve thought about what’s actually in your mind before you came here.” Stress replied coldly, almost more serious than she had been with her previous insults

“What she’s trying to say is that many things are sentient and unfortunately you don’t get to choose which ones. Your mind is vast and it is much easier to understand and work with it than to fully control it.” Intel elaborated

“Great, this is so great.” Crescent muttered, they were aware they were a flawed person of course, but actually meeting a personification of one of those flaws felt… disorienting. But this could still be a fun time, what’s a show without an antagonist?

“So anyways back to your show. Stop. You’re cringe. This is stupid so we should give up here before you get attached.” Stress announced

“What do you mean stupid? This is a great thing! We’re going to make a cool show and achieve success or something!” Artist questioned, they were still in their magic form but was no longer holding a sword, Crescent figured if they could summon one they could also make it disappear.

“Or something? Did any of you think this through like- at all? Clearly this show is going to fall apart!” Stress responded

“No it’s not!”

“It is”

“No it’s not!”

“It is”

“No-“

“Okay okay that’s enough you two,” Intel interjected, clearly annoyed by their childish argument “All Stress is doing is repeating the same message of Crescent’s show going badly. If we want to fix this issue then we need to know why she’s saying this so, why is Crescent having these doubts?”

WELCOME TO THE CRESCENT MIND AU BLOG

Hi and welcome! I’m Crescent (@crescentrivers) and when I was eleven I got way too into Sanders Sides. I decided to make characters to represent my own sides, each based on a canon SaSi character but changed to fit me. This eventually turned into TCM au, an au based on the plot of SaSi but changed to fit my own life and changed for various other reasons. I made this side (heh) blog so I have a place to yap about their lore and share progress updates on the fic project! I also use it to post about SaSi in general sometimes

Sanders Sides (and by extension these ocs) is no longer my special interest, but when it was I decided I wanted to start a fan series, it went on hiatus and while I was planning to bring it back for a variety reasons (personal life changes, losing interest, realizing trying to draw that much would take actually forever) I have decided to downscale it instead. Expect a fic on ao3 with some art, I may also read it on my YouTube eventually or even make animatics of some scenes.

Disclaimers and serious stuff under the cut

I am a minor! Therefore these characters are minors! Also TCM takes place in the past kind of (act one aka where we are in the au rn takes place from summer 2023 to summer 2024) so they’re even more minors!!! I am completely fine with shipping but be reasonable about it. And with shipping I ask that you don’t ship anything that would be considered incest (aka don’t ship the siblings together, I’m iffy about TCM!Crescent x sides but it’s still allowed technically)

TCM’s sides have many more similarities in what they represent and color associations to canon compared to most side ocs I see. That and many plot elements of the au are based on plot events from canon. For this reason it is important everyone understands that TCM au is not meant to be a “better” version of Sanders Sides, the changes it makes as an au are made because TCM!Crescent and C!Thomas are different people in different situations, the TCM sides are different characters, and because I wanted to make sure things were different enough people get something new out of the fanfic. I do not want people to see this au as is a rewrite made out of dislike for the source material or for Thomas as a person, SaSi isn’t perfect but neither is TCM and this au is not meant to make it better. The original source material is comfort media of mine and while my opinions on it and its creator are no longer 100% positive to say the least, my goal with TCM is not to make a better version of it, it is just to make a story I’ve wanted to make for a very long time.

TCM!Crescent is based off me, but she is not me. Differences in our personality and lives exist for various reasons, not everything they do is something I would do.

One of the reasons for TCM fanseries’ hiatus was a realization about myself, namely that I am plural. For this reason please keep in mind that TCM!Crescent and her sides are not meant to be a representation of my plurality or plurality in general. I’m fine with that interpretation/headcanon (I may even joke about it myself occasionally) but that’s not my intention. TCM!Crescent and her sides do not work the same way as my plurality does, please do not use anything that happens in this au to make assumptions about my system and the people in it. (I should also mention that I’m a mixed origin system and therefore very pro endo. Because that has nothing to with the actual contents of this blog antis can still interact, don’t bring syscourse here please I just want to yap about my comfort ocs)

Silly sanders sides au I made up: the kids show au!!! As the name would suggest, the basic premise is the story of Sanders Sides but if it was a tv show for younger kids instead of a webseries for whatever the age demographic for SaSi is supposed to be.

C!Thomas is a child in this one (like eight/nine I’m thinking?) and on his birthday he receives a magic (kind of not really? I’ll get to that) mirror and with it he can travel into his mind and meet his sides! With his creativity, logic, and morals by his side he goes on adventures through his mind fighting imaginary monsters and even other sides. Through these adventures he learns lessons about himself and how to deal with problems in the real world. This au is pretty light hearted compared to the other ones I’ll post about, there are story developments and bad things do happen, but since it’s meant to imitate a kids show it’s a lot more sanitized and everything always works out eventually.

It’s sort of vague whether or not Thomas’ adventures or imaginary or not and if the mirror is actually magic, I think it’s kind of implied it is his imagination? But like in the same way it’s implied the canon sides are imaginary so nobody cares and we all collectively treat them like they’re real

The biggest difference in the characters other than age is our creative side, I picture Thomas’ creativity not have been split, at least not when the story starts. So we have Romulus aka King Creativity (we’ve all accepted that piece of fanon right?) hanging around. I picture at some point there’d be a big fight between him and Patton that results in the split, imagine like a two part special. In the end they’re able to save Romulus (it’s a show for young children afterall) and decide to keep him aswell as Roman and Remus around, so sometimes they’ll be seperate and sometimes they’ll be fused depending on the situation.

All of the sides are kids in this one but not all of them appear the exact same age as Thomas. Logan is the youngest (do yall remember that thing that was going around a while ago about Logan being the youngest when Thomas was a kid cause the logic part of your brain develops later or something idk). The creativity twins are around Thomas’ age but a bit younger. Romulus and Janus are both the same age as Thomas (Janus might be slightly older but just barely). Virgil is older than Thomas, sort of imitating Thomas’ perception of a mean older kid type. And Patton is the oldest (he’s still a kid though).

I haven’t mentioned orange but I will probably add an orange side if I do more with this au, I think he’d be anger. I’m a firm believer in him and Patton being related somehow so they’d probably be siblings in this au. Not sure when that split would happen but that could maybe be after Romulus’ split because Patton feels guilty about what happened. “You can’t get angry anymore! Look what happens when you get angry! You hurt people” or something like that. I think he’d appear the same age as Logan.

The dark sides aren’t really a plot twist here, especially since two of them might just- not exist at the beginning of the story. They do get introduced over time though in probably the same order as in canon. They get redemption/acceptance arcs over time as well.

I have decided to use this blog for general SaSi content along with ocs because reasons, will tag accordingly (TCM au posts will use the tags they’ve been using) so uh sanders sides swap au that’s been rotating in my brain for a while

No one swaps what they represent but they swap roles in the story more or less

Patton swaps with Janus, Roman swaps with Remus, and Logan swaps with an orange side I made up. Virgil is now the protagonist instead of c!Thomas but Thomas doesn’t really take Virgil’s role, I will explain how that works. (Under the cut cause this got very long)

This takes place in a universe where c!Thomas’ life went differently in a variety of ways that led his perception of what parts of him are good and what parts are bad to change very rapidly. I’m not sure how everything ended up the way it did exactly and in case I do end up doing things with this au I’m not going to reveal what I do have decided just yet. (I will say Thomas was unable to pursue his passions here and has a corporate job he hates which is kind of relevant) But whatever happened differently led to the worse parts of the canon light sides being emphasized and the better parts of the canon dark sides being emphasized. Eventually leading them to trade places in terms of how Thomas viewed them.

Sel (Janus. short for self perseverance or selfishness), Ideas (Remus), and Defense (Orange, he’s anger in this au btw) are aware of this, they know they weren’t meant to be in the positions they are, at least not like this. All of them are secretly terrified of losing the positions they’re in. Feelings (Patton), Pride (Roman), and Logic (you know who this is) are also aware of this, and it infuriates them. They were supposed to help Thomas, they want to help Thomas. They just want what’s best for him but for some reason he can’t see that. If they have to push things farther to get things how they should be then so be it.

Caution (Virgil) is a new side, the first they’ve had since Thomas was a kid/teen, he just got here and knows nothing about how things got the way they did. He decides to record his journey to find his place as a part of Thomas, and these vlogs are (for the most part) the pov we would see from.

This au has a bigger emphasis on the mindscape, it’s bigger and more complicated cause I thought it would be cool idk. Specifically it’s part of how Janus keeps the sides he wants repressed hidden. There are parts of the mindscape said to be unsafe that no one’s supposed to go into, Thomas doesn’t know why and when Caution shows up, neither does he. Thomas decides to sneak in one day (he’s more reckless here plus the idea of the supposedly dangerous and scary part of the mindscape always intrigued him) with Caution tagging behind him because if he can’t stop Thomas from acting like a dumb horror movie protagonist he might as well go with him to keep him safe.

What they find is actually a lot calmer than what they expected, maybe even less chaotic than what the rest of the mindscape can be at times. It’s nice but it almost seems fake, too perfect to be real. They look around until they. hear. something. Virgil gets them out of there before either of them can see if the ominous voice in the allegedly unsafe part of the mind is actually dangerous and upon returning get lectured by Janus. Virgil asks wtf that voice might’ve been, Janus says (lying) that he isn’t sure, maybe a monster, an illusion, nothing good that’s for sure. They walk away but Virgil stays by the entrance just a second longer than Thomas and Janus, for a second he sees something try to exit before being forced back inside.

It didn’t look like a monster or an illusion or whatever Janus said was in there though, it looked like another side. Of course the embodiment of anxiety overthinks this so eventually he decides to sneak back in there alone.

And then nothing bad happened to any of them ever (lie)
