no no guys hear me out. hear me out here. what if. what if thomas released the finale pt.1 on october 19. because not only is it the anniversary of the first episode, but it is a saturday this year, which is when he posts videos. and and and hear me out, tell me if i'm off my rockers here, this doesn't make sense but it does to me. it's the eighth anniversary of sanders sides, so if they introduce orange, there will be eight characters in the series, including thomas. sorry that made me sound too insane. but like think about it, it's a perfect day to release it! just my prediction.

THEORY: I had a wild thought cross my mind.
Forever, I was of the mind that Patton was the emotional side, meaning he harbors and distributes ALL emotions to Thomas. We’ve seen him show happiness, sadness, nostalgia, melancholy, etc. But what if I’ve got it wrong?👀
Tumblr media
WHAT IF emotions like anger and jealousy are actually in the possession of the others? So if Patton has happiness and sadness, Virgil has fear and anxiety, it stands to reason that Roman has jealousy, pride and bravery, and LOGAN has anger and rage.
And I’m not saying they as sides can’t experience a range of emotions themselves but I’m saying they are the prime holders of those emotions for c!Thomas. And since Logan might be the holder of anger, it means he’s been LYING about having emotions (which may have been one of the reasons Janus came about) and may be the reason why c!Thomas keeps questioning if he’s a good person. MAYBE if Logan lets his anger out, Thomas will get mad, and getting angry might equate to c!Thomas feeling like a bad person if he’s trying SO HARD to be good. Maybe this is why Logan was lying and saying he has no emotions. He does have them, he just has possession of the ‘worst one’ (or at least how c!Thomas would see his ‘worst quality’)—
👀 something to think about—

what makes the perfect gift - sanders asides review
first of all, take my livebloggings as i watched
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as you can see, i quite.. enjoyed this episode. it had some of that old sanders sides charm that i really appreciated. other than a couple very brief moments, no one felt too egregiously out of character. i quite enjoyed how patton was written, he was just being silly! and aside from the regular light side/dark side (hate those terms but. simplicity's sake) aggression, im glad to see theyre actually getting along!
IT WASNT AN AD!! NOTHING WAS BEING ADVERTISED!! sure, they wore the tss xmas sweaters, but it would be weird if they DIDNT imo. and even with thomas wearing the rswr hoodie, it was more of a reminder that it exists than a direct advertisement
i genuinely felt myself invested in the story with this one, which i havent felt in.. ages. because as ive said before, i love sasi! i want to like the content!
i dont really have many thoughts beyond that.. it was a perfectly fine little episode. if i were to rate it, probably a 6.5/10
i was deeply wrong, and overly negative, with my predictions upon seeing the photos of thomas in the xmas sweaters. i will admit that. BUT: my predictions came from me seeing a pattern of behaviour with thomas and his content. i will owe up to my mistakes, but i dont apologise for viewing the initial teaser tweets in a negative light. i feel like it was well within my right to expect shitty things of thomas
i do wish we got the finale instead. also - thomas was able to write, film, and edit a silly 13 minute like this in a week... i feel like he's slowly loosing excuses as to why we don't have any parts of the finale. he can make pretty good content when he wants to!
this is what sanders sides should've stayed as imo.

now that you have violently brought me back to thinking about sasi again, i have to ask; what other interesting theories did we have back in the day?
ok sorry it took me a moment to respond to this, but it's mostly because i needed to ask @transfemlogan if they remembered anything because i. do not remember. like i'm a sasi meta blog now but back then i was just there mostly for the vibes (i was also dumb!)
i'll say tho. remus and janus were definitely predicted way before they introduced themselves. there's a popular post that went around post-moving on about how the next side is about lies, and apparently there was a joke post about if roman had a twin it would be like remy and. well.
also imagine 10000000 theories abt the dark sides. dark!side roman is pride, virgil as paranoia, and the idea that logan is a dark side because he wears dark clothing like them.
thing is, i don't think the series early on kind of. entertained theories because before janus, we expected nothing much of a continuous narrative? from clbg up until now, we have a series of events that creates a more structured storyline- like the sides are reacting to something that is happening in real time. but before that we were merely hinted at arcs, but the episodes would just happen out of Nowhere, like the dilemmas are just random dilemmas thomas would find. i think that's why not a lot of ppl kind of expected a narrative.
or at least, that was for me. i only realized the appeal in such with the current storyline we have lol

Thank you @sky-h-reality and @doctordothemost for tagging me... it’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these things...
Currently reading:
Lots of SaSi fanfics - mostly on a horror bent. But when am I not in the mood for horror?

Last song:
Sound Stabs “Conditioned“
Last movie:
Uhhh? “Saw“? I think? I was watching it when I was working on that Gymrat!Dukexiety three-parter (just reminding self of plot beats for Remus to respond to/with. Did the same thing with “Sorry To Bother You” - the two dorks basically doing running commentary on that... experience).
Been getting real into “Legend of Vox Machina“. Want to get into “The Owl House“ too... even tho neither are technically movies... shhh...
Sweet/Spicy/Savory:
I’m a foodie that adores all three of these things- why do I have to choose!? Okay, I GUESS I’ll pick spicy - because I love obscene amounts of heat in my food. If my mouth isn’t on fire or going numb? Well-p.
Currently working on:
Promethean!Patton Disquiet Story (Patton gets to do some murder, as a treat) and Book 2 of the Begotten!AU (Creativitwin-centric, lots of angst, because I’m predictable). Mostly, they’re horror AUs. But have other stuff in the backburner, too.

hey now, don't beat yourself up about "unfinished" work. sometimes the purpose of writing is to shake your emotions out, or to test a new style, or to write the one specific scene you've been daydreaming about. 500 words is still a lot (trust, I did nano and thinking "I still have 500 words.." is daunting). no love, however brief, is wasted.
for a prompt, you never said if you wanted it fandom specific? so I think it could be fun to try and write smth in second person. you could do it in a, outsiders perspective looking in to whatever fandom situation you want. also, don't feel pressured to post it. sometimes our writing is just for us (though of course if you want to, I'm not holding you back!) :]
It has been. A bit of a rough week. Which made these 500 words take longer than my usual, but they shall not be wasted. Since I first followed you back in your Sanders Sides days, I figured I might well cobble together something SaSi. It’s from this LAMP soulmate AU I have, inspired by a fic I read years ago but when I reread it it just didn’t scratch the itch. It’s a mess of an AU, so many branching paths and no consistent timeline and probably at least 10k words of mess scattered around my drafts and 1k of them are probably the same words pasted into different draft where the situation goes a different direction. I have fun with it though, and I really like it which felt appropriate for this ask as well.
So without further ado, enjoy 537 words of Remy’s inner turmoil.
You are fourteen years old, sitting with your best friend in his room. You’re pretending not to notice, but you can tell he’s looking at how the writing appears on your arm. You know he’s still mourning the fact his writing doesn’t appear on it anymore, and so are you.
Not that you don’t like your soulmate, he’s nice and his doodles are getting better, and you feel it in your bones you’ll love him when you see him, but you don’t think it’ll stop the weird grief you have about Virgil. He’s been your best friend since you were six, and for over two years he was your soulmate too. Until he wasn’t.
Looking back, maybe it was predictable. You two were kids, arms filled with possible soulmates that fate was still lining up perfectly. Nearly all of them would fade, and one day, for you, they did. You were left with one, like everyone figured would happen. You had already met your soulmate, you two would barely remember a day without that bond. Except the one wasn’t Virgil, and it could not have happened at a worse time.
You don’t think you could ever forgive fate for the shambles she left Virgil in, even if your soulmate is a god on earth. He lost so much that year because of stupid fate and you know he’s never been able to recover, so why should you love fate? You know she’s not kind, maybe she has been to you since that time but you’ve seen the cruel nature she harbors. You had to watch her break your best friend before either of you knew long division.
You take a deep breath. He just got back from the hospital, it’s not the time to go on one of your anger induced ramblings about fate. They make him sad anyway, and you’re supposed to be here to cheer him up. You try to focus back on the game in front of you, but your arm itches and you know it’s because fate is sinking her claws along the new markings, urging you to look and look and look.
You give in to her demands, sparing a quick glance down to relieve the hives like feeling dancing across your arm. It’s nothing important, just a few words asking you to remind him to ask for more stickers, you couldn’t even respond if you really needed to anyway. The itching fades as quickly as it began though, and you wonder how Virgil manages to never look at his own if you cave after moments? His soulmates are chatty too, from what you have gathered from the small things he says about them.
It’s most definitely not the time to ask though, so you once again adjust your grip on the controller in your hand and focus your vision back onto the game in front of you. It really sucks you have to finish the game for him, but he doesn’t want to wait the couple months for his cast to come off to see the end and you know he’d do it for you. You’ve been dying to talk about it with him anyway, and that is definitely a safe and happy subject.

1) Take all the time u need 4 ur new SaSi wip. I’m good w/waiting until it’s ready. I know I’m gonna 💗 it
2) As a Broadway nut every time I hear the word ‘syzygy’ I think 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
3) Dunno if u saw Thomas’s tweet on stuff he’s been working on for the season finale but I’m like not sure whether to be scared or excited. The last vids were painful and the boys are in pain and I don’t wanna see them get more hurt bc then I’m gonna cry buckets. Also he talked abt how he wants to involve more mature topics in the vids in another tweet and part of me can’t help but think about the latest chapter of Pick A Side you did like a while ago and how Thomas was like “I hate myself” and I like can’t help but feel like it could go that route (minus the coffee shop part)
1) i feel real bad because i've been working on it for nearly a full year now and it is starting to Fester lightly. nonetheless. when my health allows it, i'm plugging away doggedly at this draft. approximately one and a bit chapters left. thank u for your patience!
2) that's one show that i haven't actually seen/heard! it's been mentioned a few times to me so i may well check it out when i have the chance. syzygy is a good fun word though.
3) i DID i did see that! i'm excited and afraid in equal measure. and if it turns out i predicted any aspect of the rest of s2/future s3, i will feel so vindicated. you're right, though. probably not the coffee shop part

Can you rec some media with canon queer characters 😌
ofc!! thisll by no means be an exhaustive list but idk what youre looking for specifically so ill break it into categories
my current favs!! if u follow me u know these already lol
the umbrella academy: netflix show abt dysfunctional superpowered siblings reuniting to stop the apocalypse. canon mlm character (pansexual according to his actor) w mlm romance, canon wlw character (lesbian according to someone on the show dont rmr who) w het romance in s1, wlw romance in s2 - this is one of my absolute fav shows at the minute in general its brilliant
the magnus archives: horror podcast abt the head archivist of an institute researching experiences w the supernatural. protagonist is canonically biromantic asexual, in a mlm relationship in s5, and there is another canon bisexual character, as well as (iirc) a canon wlw couple - yall know ive been so into tma lately its so so good, obviously if you dont like horror its not for you but if you do.. 👀
sanders sides: youtube series abt a gay dude working out his emotional problems via personified aspects of his personality. all the characters are gay cuz thas what thomas is baby! - i was hesitant abt putting this cuz thomas is a person not a character lol but if u haven't seen sasi i recommend it its like free therapy but theres songs sometimes
shows!
julie and the phantoms (netflix remake): musical show abt a teen girl rediscovering music after her mothers death w the help of three ghosts who were in a 90s band. canon gay character w a slow burn romance (not yet canon bfs but s2 lets go) - its very cheesy and the musical segments can drag on a bit but its p good overall
lucifer: detective show abt lucifer abandoning his rule of hell to buy a nightclub and beginning to solve murders w the lapd. lucifer is canonically bi/pan, as is his demon pal mazikeen, but queerness rly isnt a focus of the show its more casual rep - that being said its a good show overall, if a little predictable now n then (s1-3 on amazon prime, 4+5 on netflix)
kipo and the age of wonderbeasts: fantasy cartoon set in a future filled w mutant intelligent animals, kipo finds herself lost and has to get home w the help of her friends. canon gay character as one of the mains, canon nb side character - its a rly good cartoon! lots of fun, excellent soundtrack, and the main characters are all poc which is rly nice to see
the dragon prince: cartoon abt two princes and an elf assassin returning a dragon egg to its mother. canon mlm couple, several canon wlw characters, canon nb character - i havent seen the show myself but ive heard very good things abt it!
i am not okay with this: netflix show abt a teen girl discovering she has superpowers and hating it. protag is canon wlw (i THINK shes a lesbian but i havent watched it in a hot sec), developing wlw relationship - ianowt slaps! sad that s2 got cancelled but s1 is real good its a touch spooky and theres a bit of gore/blood so watch out lol
schitt's creek: sitcom abt a rich family who lose all their money and have to move into the motel of a town they bought as a joke. canon pansexual character and canon gay character w one of the sweetest mlm relationships - a rly good witty show w excellent character development for every character!
good omens: show abt a demon and an angel trying to stop the end of the world. every celestial character in it is nonbinary, + crowley and aziraphale have a nonexplicit (ie no on screen pda lol) romance - good omens is such a good queer show none of the characters care abt gender in the slightest lmao, plus the show in general is fantastic (the book is also very good)
movies!
the old guard: a group of immortals fight an organisation that wants to capitalise off their immortality. canon mlm couple - another one i havent seen yet (i will!) but apparently very good
it chapter 2: horror sequel to It, w the main characters returning to derry to defeat pennywise for good. canon gay character in unrequited love - i only say chapter 2 because his queerness isnt referenced at all in the first film, again its big horror and theres no gay romance just gay tragedy but its a good film
love, simon: romcom about a closeted gay teen falling in love w someone over emails. do i even need to state the rep? - honestly if u haven't seen love simon yet what are you even DOING its so good proper fluffy queer romcom, the book (simon vs the homosapiens agenda) is also really good!! so is the sequel (leah on the offbeat) where the protag is a bi girl + it focuses on a wlw romance
the way he looks: brazilian coming of age film abt a blind teen boy falling for the new kid at his school. canon mlm relationship - this doesnt seem to be on (british) netflix anymore so idk where youd find it with subtitles but i rmr liking it a lot!
games!
night in the woods: 2d platformer abt a young woman (well. cat) dropping out of college and coming home to live w her parents + discovering spooky happenings in her hometown. canon mlm couple and i believe the protag is canonically bi? - i will recommend nitw to literally anyone who will listen its one of my all time favourite games, deals w a lot of mental health issues and its absolutely gorgeous w a brilliant soundtrack and rly good dialogue thats witty and serious and realistic (its on steam + switch for sure dk abt other platforms, abt 15 quid i think?)
tell me why: adventure game abt twins returning to their childhood home + findin Secrets. canon trans male character - i havent got around to buying + playing this yet but it looks really good! (its in three chapters + on steam, not sure on price)
other media!
the art of being normal: slice of life novel abt a young trans girl discovering herself. main characters are a trans man and a trans woman. - a good novel! trigger warning for transphobic actions including descriptions of a transphobic attack on the guy, and its certainly not without its faults otherwise, but i thought it was pretty good
the adventure zone: dungeons and dragons podcast by the mcelroy brothers. idk specifics but theres a lot of canon queer characters in it! - i havent listened to taz yet but i know a lot abt it, inc that its good and funny and has plenty of queer rep
theres several more i like that arent listed here but to keep this from getting just ridiculously long ill leave it there :] tried to get a range of genres and medias, hopefully theres something for you in there!

15 Places You Shouldn't Visit Because You're Ruining Them
Tumblr media
With aviation projected to double the subsequent 20 years, a number of the world's most beloved and well-traveled places are poised to become ruined by tourists. And while we're all for traversing the world and crossing bucket-list destinations off your list, we frequent fliers must believe the impact we've on fragile environments and native communities. So, in an attempt to be more conscientious travelers, we've rounded up the world's most at-risk destinations and all the stunning under-the-radar places you ought to go instead.
1 Cozumel, Mexico
The delicate reefs surrounding Cozumel, an idyllic island off the coast of the Yucutan Peninsula and a frequent stop on Caribbean cruises, are more fragile than ever, thanks to excess cruise liner activity and therefore the four million-plus tourists that arrive annually. In an attempt to guard Cozumel's fragile aquatic habitat, Mexico's National Commission of Natural Protected Areas implemented a short-lived ban on tourism to many areas of the Cozumel Reef park. As an alternative to Cozumel, bring your dive gear to Isla Mujeres, a sliver-size island off the coast of Cancun, where the water is crystal-clear and where you would possibly spot whale sharks and other aquatic creatures.
2 Everest, Nepal
The mighty Everest has never been more popular—and mountaineers and guides are saying that the results might be fatal. More and more inexperienced climbers are making the trip, resulting in overcrowded pathways even at 29,029 feet. Then there are environmental issues caused by such strong visitation, including the piles of garbage left behind on the paths and therefore the accelerated melting of glaciers. As an alternate adrenaline fix, climb a less trodden but no less challenging peak like Cho Oyu in Tibet.
3 Dubrovnik, Croatia
If Game of Thrones helped put the Croatian city on the map, it also contributed to the city's grave overtourism problem. within the city's old town, for instance, there are approximately 100 souvenir shops, 100 restaurants, and additional cash machines than Las Vegas. As a result of the congestion, the town is considering implementing a variety of bans, including a short-lived one that might prohibit new restaurants from having outdoor seating within the city's Old Town. We'd recommend supporting other Croatian towns like Cavtat and Zadar instead.
4 Raja Ampat Islands, Indonesia
Home to a number of the richest biodiversity on earth, the Indonesian archipelago of Raja Ampat comprises quite 1,500 islands. In 2017, one among Raja Ampat's major coral reefs was irrevocably damaged when a cruise liner crashed into it, imperiling an already-sickly aquatic ecosystem. Scientists are now predicting it'll take quite a decade to heal the damaged reef. In the meantime, quell your insomnia on the Togean Islands, a constellation of 56 under-the-radar Indonesian islands where you'll swim, sunbathe, dive, and snorkel to your heart's content.
5 Iceland
With its otherworldly landscapes and road trip-friendly sights, Iceland is high on many travelers' lists. In 2018 alone, quite 2.3 million people made the trip; compare that to the 350,000 full-time residents on the island, and it's clear why the travel industry has voiced concerns over sustainability and environmental preservation. In 2017, the Environmental Agency of Iceland closed one among the country's biggest tourist attractions, the canyon of Fjaðrárgljúfur, after a huge influx of tourists. In an interview with CNN, Hannes Sasi Palsson, the owner of an Iceland tourism company said, "That a part of the country simply can't deal with all those stomping feet." to urge your fix of surreal landscapes, consider visiting a U.S. park-like Bryce Canyon instead.
6 Pig Beach, the Bahamas
The novelty of swimming with pigs draws thousands of tourists per annum to Big Major Cay, an uninhabited island in Exuma, the Bahamas. Sadly, the population of the feral pigs has significantly dwindled thanks to tourist misbehavior. In 2017, seven of the creatures died after being fed alcohol by tourists. Now, the amount of animals on the island hovers around 15. As an alternate itinerary, head to Nassau and check the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, an oceanfront resort with an on-site flamingo sanctuary.
7 Angkor Wat, Cambodia
In 1992, UNESCO officials put Angkor Archaeological Park in Siem Reap on an inventory of endangered sites, citing destruction caused by illegal excavation and pillaging. After deeming the location "reasonably secure" in 2004, Angkor Wat was far away from the danger list— but archeological experts and tour operators claim the traditional temple complex remains in danger . on the brink of 2.6 million visitors visited the delicate site and temples like Phnom Bakheng are compromised due to heavy pedestrian traffic. rather than Angkor Wat, we recommend visiting the Banteay Chhmar ruins, a set of eight temples hidden within the Cambodian countryside that go back to the 12th century.
8 The Maldives
With each passing day, it looks like another new resort opens within the Maldives. The torrent of tourists, including rising sea levels and increased construction, is causing irreparable harm to the tropical paradise, including the loss of habitats of species, the disappearance of beaches, and therefore the destruction of coral reefs. In response, some hotels like Bayan Tree Vabbinfaru are raising awareness through coral rehabilitation programs—but responsible travelers trying to find beach bliss should consider Seychelles or Sri Lanka as alternative options.
9 Machu Picchu, Peru
Getting to the Lost City of the Incas, one among the new Seven Wonders of the planet, requires a four-day hike or taking a 3.5-hour train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes. Despite the problem of reaching the Citadel, Machu Picchu has been suffering from overtourism, drawing quite a million tourists annually. As a result, a number of the sacred temples have even been damaged, forcing the govt to introduce measures like timed entry as to how to regulate the tourist flow. For travelers eager to discover ancient ruins within the Sacred Valley, other options are abundant, from Kuélap and Llactapacta to Choquequirao.
10 Venice, Italy
Rising water levels, unprecedented tourist numbers, and an influx of cruise ships are among the factors threatening the infrastructure of Venice, causing historic buildings to crumble and famous attractions, like St. Mark's Square, to flood. As to how to mitigate the damage, the govt has implemented short-stay visitation fees and other restrictions. For all of the culture with none of the crowds, consider other Italian cities like Lecce and Bologna.
11 Boracay, Philippines
The Philippine island of Boracay was dubbed the simplest island within the world by Travel + Leisure magazine in 2012. Fast-forward a few years and Boracay is now a textbook example of the consequences of overtourism. The once-crystal clear waters are crammed with green algae; the streets are suffering from trash; sewage was, until recently, being pumped into the ocean; and quite 70 percent of the coral cover has been destroyed due to unmonitored snorkeling. Give the island time to heal by instead visiting Siargao, a teardrop-shaped Philippine island known for its lush jungles and pristine beaches.
12 Santorini, Greece
This Greek island, known for its world-famous sunsets and volcanic cliffs, is additionally known for its tourists. within the popular summer months, Santorini sees quite 10,000 visitors per day. Those numbers have put significant strain on the island, from traffic jams and a spike in energy consumption to rising water levels. In an attempt to curb the consequences of overtourism, the govt has limited cruise liner numbers to eight,000 a day. If you're keen on living out your Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants fantasies, consider the lesser-visited Greek islands of Milos and Koufonisia.
13 Bali
Water shortages, plastic-filled beaches, and overall congestion are new realities of life on Bali, where tourism has taken a pointy increase following the island's starring role in Elizabeth Gilbert's 2006 travel memoir Eat Pray Love. Disrespectful behavior is additionally, sadly, an issue: tourists have posed inside sacred temples wearing bikinis. Do your part to bring the island back to its former self by choosing another Balinese island—say, the nearby paradise of Lombok—for your vacation plans.
14 Barcelona, Spain
In Barcelona, locals are taking to the streets to decry the consequences of overtourism on their city, which include lack of affordable housing, pollution, and street congestion and noise. Barcelona's mayor has taken a stand, restricting the number of cruise ships that are allowed to dock within the city and stalling the expansion of the airport. Other alternatives to busy Barcelona include San Sebastian and Cádiz, both of which are on the ocean and boast a wealth of cultural attractions.
15 Maya Bay, Thailand
At the peak of its popularity, Maya Bay, on the Thai island of Koh Phi Phi Leh Island, saw quite 5,000 visitors per day. (Blame its appearance within the 2000 film The Beach, which depicted the isle's turquoise waters and limestone cliffs.) Strong visitation resulted in serious environmental damage: most of the island's coral died as a result. Since then, the Department of National Parks Wildlife and Plant Conservation has closed the bay, and it's projected to be off-limits to visitors until 2021. In the meantime, travelers should set their sights on lesser-known neighboring isles like Koy Yao Noi.

Week 2 & the 2020 DARETREE Event is done and dusted...
-
Dec. 5
I woke up after 1PM.
After some chatting and doing some dishes, I did my exercise.
First, today’s DD. 20 pike push-ups with EC. Tough and a bit sloppy, but good enough for me.
Second, Day 5 of the ‘20ACC. 3x5 tricep extensions, one super-set. Definitely tougher to manage after those push-ups.
Third, Day 7 of the FhP. Level 3, 1′ rest. Lotsa kicking. Aerobic and worked up quite a sweat! I enjoyed myself and mixed up letting foot drop and doing balanced variations there of. Lunge+crosses weren’t quite as fun - because lunges. But overall, good experience!
Last, Day 5 of the FCP. Core Control Day. Level 3, no rest. Pretty breezy work, all told.
After updating my fit log and doing some browsing, I made today’s Hello Fresh Meal. Corn & poblano chowder. It was pretty tasty - I mostly like the bulk and thick consistency to it. That part was comforting to eat. Don’t know how I feel about Old Bay seasoning blend, but there’s bits I appreciate from it (might be just the fact I’m not a huge fan of celery, especially if it’s too intense a note in a dish.)
Did some dishes and chatted a bit before writing up a timeline for the iZ!AU.
I went to bed a bit earlier than yesterday.

Dec. 6
I woke up before 11AM.
Spent time chatting and  sharing a timeline of iZ!AU with friend.
Got my exercise squared away early too.
First, today’s DD. 50 shoulder taps with EC. Doable.
Second, Day 6 of the ‘20ACC. 3x6 jumping lunges, one super-set. Again, debated on breaking it up, but chose not to. Pretty aerobic and high impact. But I dod my best to be mindful of how I was executing it.
Third, Day 8 of the FhP. Level 3, 1′ rest. For exercise transitions - I did plank walk-out/ins instead of jumps. Did maintain the plank for the shoulder taps > push-ups > raised leg push-ups. Push-ups were a bit sloppy and I did feel a bit of built up fatigue, but I’m happy it was just 5 sets of that.
Last, Day 6 of the FCP. 50 squats, done in one go. Pretty manageable work, definitely well within my condition.
Spent some time chatting and watching the third Back Too The Future movie . Then spent rest of night on the usual fair.
I went to bed a bit earlier than yesterday.

Dec. 7
I woke up after noon.
Spent a bit of time writing an e-mail about my jury summons and then browsing a bit before today’s exercise.
First, today’s DD. 2′ tricep dip hold with EC. Watching DWIT was helpful. Did note back pressing against chair increasingly after the first minute. But I did my best to keep the position for the full duration. Intense exercise.
Second, Day 7 of the ‘20ACC. 3x7 push-ups, one super-set. I thought about breaking it up as directed, more just to put more emphasis on my form. But then I just wanted to get it done fairly quickly & knew I could knock out 21 in one pop pretty easily (if somewhat sloppy, but what else is new).
Third, Day 9 of the FhP. Ab Day. Level 3, 1‘ rest. I feel like I could’ve shortened the rest periods a bit more than that - but ah well. It was overall very manageable and fun. I do so love sit-up punches! =w=
Fourth, Day 7 of the FCP. Endurance Day. Managed Level 3 by the skin of my teeth. Had some doubts I could go for whole 12 minutes keeping the arms up and moving. They did droop from fatigue and my pace had to slow to be able to sustain things. Watching DWIT/SaSi is always a great distraction for brutal endurance work. My arms = dead. :,D
Last, I started getting in reps for my ornament on the DARETREE, this year. After some debate, I chose to work toward an emerald one. That involved 1k jumping jacks. In less than an hour, I did half of it in 5 sets of 100. Was pretty blissed afterwards - despite my calves complaining a bit about the load.
Made dinner and spent rest of night on the usual.
I went to bed obscenely late, Didn’t anticipate a mistake I made would mean  i was not going to have much sleep to work with tomorrow.

Dec. 8
I woke up a bit after 11AM, to the sound of a car honking outside.
I quickly realized I miss-scheduled a trip reservation this week - it was supposed to be for Wednesday (though I would have to cancel that because I had a jury summons on my lap.) Anyways - decided to just go with the driver’s intended route. Spent some time to go grab some convenience store snacks and waited to get returned home.
Pretty much once I got back home, I did my exercise.
First, today’s DD. 2′ raised leg hold with EC (supine). Deep breathing was helpful. But neck strain happened predictably enough - not so fun.
Second, Day 8 of the ‘20ACC. 3x8 lunges, one super-set. Manageable.
Third, Day 10 of the FhP. Level 3, 1′ rest. It was pretty funny rewatching FWSA as background noise - chuckled a bit while I was doing my punches/kicks/strikes. Definitely made that much more fun (and combat work is already fun.)
Fourth, Day 8 of the FCP. Cardio Day. Level 3, no rest. Nice low impact work. Energy levels were also happy with the relative chillness of this workout.
Last, I finished getting in reps for my ornament on the DARETREE, this year. I wound up approaching it the same way/pace as yesterday. Definitely a lot harder, given how exhausted I was getting. (I was watching POF again during this part of things.)
Chatted a bit before doing some dishes, taking a shower, and organizing stuff (bills/etc..I basically had to drag myself to get through all that - I was so exhausted. (Learning that my brother had a person in his circle test positive for COVID was also peachy. Brother scheduled for a test for himself later this week.)
I managed to get to bed in the green zone, tonight. I just hit my wall at that point.

Dec. 9
I woke up after 9AM.
I was pretty agitated on Twitter and in my chatting this morning over the Jury summons. Once at the courthouse though, I learned that I was no longer needed to be present. That was a relief.
First, today’s DD. 40 bridge taps with EC. This was pretty manageable, just happy the jury summons issue appears to be resolved. Mostly.
Second, Day 9 of the ‘20ACC. 3x9 calf raises, one super-set. Fairly breezy work. Calves were pretty okay after all those jumping jacks. Achilles and knee needed a bit of TLC, but doable.
Third, Day 11 of the FhP. Level 3, 1′ rest. No plank jump-ins/outs. My sore delts made things a bit more challenging to get through. Still doable, might’ve gotten away with shortening the rest periods a bit more, but I just decided to commit to that.
Last, Day 9 of the FCP. 3′ wall-sit, managed it in one go. I decided to rewatch Embarrassing Phases to distract myself from my thighs screaming at me.
After chatting and whatnot, I made today’s Hello Fresh Meal. Tex-Mex beef & poblano enchiladas. I thought it was just okay. Lack of saucy consistency/binding in the filling gave things a dryness (especially on reheat in the cases of dad and brother’s portions - they ate later than me.)
After some more of the usual - I felt inspired again to get more writing done (iZ!Prinxiety stuff, friggin’ dorks.)
Back to getting to bed in the red zone...

Dec. 10
I woke up after 10AM.
After a bit of the usual, did today’s exercise.
First, today’s DD. 40 lunge step-ups with EC (20/20). Manageable work.
Second, Day 10 of the ‘20ACC. 3x10 wide legged squats, one super-set. Did contemplate on breaking it up, but eh, this was very
Third, Day 12 of the FhP. Level 3, 1′ rest. Back and core work - bridges were more fun than the planks, but doable. Did think i could’ve extended my counts a bit more. But nevertheless, reasonably challenging!
Last, Day 10 of the FCP. Agility Day. Level 3, no rest. I do so enjoy bouncing/hopping stuff  and it was fun shifting into each exercise with continued momentum. I only stopped in between sets long enough to markdown completed sets.
Spent rest of night chatting, browsing, and making soup for dinner. I did also get some writing done too.
I got to bed around the same time as yesterday.
-
Dec. 11
I woke up after 11AM.
After a bit of browsing, listening to music, dog grooming, and getting dishes taken care of - I did today’‘s exercises.
First, today’s DD. 1′ chest squeeze with EC. Arms definitely got to trembling throughout this hold. Did try to mind how much recruitment was happening so I wouldn’t pull something. Mission successful.
Second, Day 11 of the ‘20ACC. 3x11 up/down dogs, 30″ rest. Finally met a day of this challenge that I couldn’t get through in one superset - this pacing//load was tough enough as it is. Got pretty bushed.
Last, Day 11 of the FCP. Tendon Strengthening Day. No sets. Just about manageable, took a bit of digging though.
I spent rest of night updating my logs, chatting, configuring computer stuff, browsing stuff.... and binge-watching Season 2 of The Umbrella Academy. (I enjoyed it!)
Went to bed obscenely late because of that.

Take a look at my review of Sasie Sealy’s feature debut Lucky Grandma, part of the 2019 London Film Festival!
With her debut feature Lucky Grandma, a film about an elderly Chinese-American woman with a rebellious streak, writer-director Sasie Sealy contributes equal parts humour and suspense to this year’s London Film Festival. Tsai Chin plays the titular role of Grandma Wong, a gruff, chain-smoking loner whose expressionless indifference and grumpy demeanour has led me to dub her the Clint Eastwood of Grandmas. Grandma Wong lives alone in the small, outdated Chinatown apartment she and her late husband once shared. Though her daily schedule is monotonous—practising tai chi, lighting incense for her in-home Buddhist altar, evading her adult son’s requests that she move in with him and his family—Grandma Wong receives a reinvigorating jolt of excitement while visiting a fortune teller, a sequence which visually references the opening tarot scene of Agnès Varda’s Cleo from 5 to 7. The fortune teller presents to Grandma Wong a series of cards written in Chinese script and tells the old woman that she will have an incredible amount of luck on October 28th (admittedly a very different fate than the one predicted for Cleo).
With fortune on her side, Grandma Wong empties her bank account on the 28th and hops on a Chinatown bus headed straight to the casino. At first, it seems like the stars really have aligned for her; she beats incredible odds and wins at craps and roulette so many times that her tokens double, then triple, and then quadruple. Her lucky streak comes to an end eventually, though, and she returns to the Chinatown bus downtrodden, having lost all her savings in one bet.
Grandma Wong’s good luck seems to take a different form, however, when money literally falls into her lap on the bus ride home. The man in the seat next to her suddenly dies of a heart attack while everyone else on the bus is asleep. When the bus hits a bump and a duffel bag filled with money falls from the luggage carriers overhead, Grandma Wong realises that her deceased seatmate is in fact a gang member transporting money for the Red Dragon gang. Already panicked about her casino losses, Grandma Wong absconds with the money, inadvertently placing herself at the centre of a violent gang conflict over the cash.
The strength of this film is not necessarily the narrative, which at times feels muddled and confusing amidst its portrayal of New York gang politics and reaches a hasty conclusion in its third act. Rather, Lucky Grandma’s greatest asset is its characters, all fully realized through the little details which make up each person’s unique and entertaining personality. Grandma Wong’s lanky grandson David, for example, may play a relatively small role in the film. However, in the approximately 10 total minutes of screen time he has, viewers learn that he is a one half of a dance duo, making goofy, low-quality hip-hop music videos in his grandmother’s apartment with his chubby, twerk-happy friend Nomi. This small, endearing personality detail raises the emotional stakes later in the film when the Red Dragons demand Grandma Wong pay a ransom to spare David’s life. The same goes for the character Big Pong (Hsiao-Yuan Ha), the man Grandma Wong hires as a bodyguard after dopey Red Dragon gangsters Pock-Mark (Woody Fu) and Little Handsome (Michael Tow) show up at her apartment. Big Pong first appears to be quiet and intimidating, but viewers will find a tender sweetness in his character when he talks about being a vegetarian, describes the girl he loves who still lives in China, and scolds Grandma Wong’s grumpy neighbour for disrespecting an elder.
The main figures in any film are only as strong as the actors who play them, and the cast of Lucky Grandma brings these characters to life with quirk and charm. As the socially isolated Grandma Wong, Tsai Chin is often the only actor onscreen. The character requires an actor who can subtly convey large emotions with her facial expressions and body language, and Tsai Chin is more than fit for the challenge. She brings laughs just by widening her eyes, furrowing her brow, or turning her head—no dialogue required. As gangster hitman Little Handsome, actor Michael Tow somehow manages to be simultaneously terrifying and hilarious, sending chills down one’s spine with his threatening stare one moment and highlighting his character’s sheer absurdity with a goofy smile in the next. The talent in this cast alone could dispel any excuses Hollywood may make for whitewashing Asian or Asian-American roles (I’m looking at you, Scarlett Johansson).
Though it is not a life-changing or particularly profound film, Lucky Grandma is sure to make viewers chuckle heartily, scoot to the edge of their seats in suspense, and stare in wonderment at each creatively-framed shot. The plot leaves room for confusion and questions, but the dramatic achievements of the cast alone are enough to make this film a success among audiences. The film deftly combines humorous and whimsical moments with darker undertones. Considering the film centres on the identity crisis of an elderly Chinese-American woman—a demographic I can safely say is sorely underrepresented in American film—Lucky Grandma is a breath of fresh air and a new perspective in the comedy genre.
