2024.
If you were to ask me how this year was, the truth is that I have to really sit down and think month-by-month to even remember what happened. There was a smattering of events, but it was overall just a really bland year. There were losses, there were a number of quick weekend trips, there were some new hobbies picked up. But overall, a relatively unmemorable year.
2024 Highlights:
Pura Vida. If a trip could go by too quickly, Costa Rica was it. We spotted sloths, macaws, and monkeys. We sampled chocolate, heart of palm, and coconut water directly from the coconut. We lounged by the beach and in hammocks and ziplined through the Monteverde forest. We tackled some whitewater rafting and jumped from a small cliffside into the river. We watched some beautiful sunsets on the western coast and I saw so many little hello's from my nana throughout our time there.
World's Largest _____. My mom joined me for my first race trip of the year, out to the Omaha/Lincoln, Nebraska area. We visited the World's Largest Ball of Stamp, World's Largest Covered Wagon, and the World's Largest Time Capsule. This trip also included the Birthplace of the Kool-Aid Man and a bizarre collection of Sasquatch memorabilia outside of someone's home.
New Hobby Alert. If I do nothing else with my year, picking up a new hobby (or expanding upon a current one) seems to be a pretty reliable way to mark the year. While I attempted macrame (not my cup of tea), revisited crochet amigurumi (certainly not my strong point in the world of fiber), and knit my first pair of socks, this year's standout skill was learning to not only bake sourdough but to do so with a started that I created from scratch.
Name Change. If anyone ever asks my opinion, I'll quickly tell them I'd recommend against changing your name when getting married unless you have a strong reason (or desire) for doing so. I finally got around to doing the name change this year and there are still lingering items where I need to have my name updated. It's not the stuff you think would be tricky (social security, DMV) - it's the small stuff (your airline miles, your housing documents, your records with your doctors). I did time it out for my passport renewal though, so at least I have a shiny new passport to put to use.
Continued House Projects. While last year was the big year of our kitchen renovation, we've continued some cleanup and fine tuning of the kitchen this year (under cabinet lights!, cleaning up grout, fixing/covering some wood filler spots on the floor). We've added more plants indoors and outdoors, hung up more frames inside, finally got a light up in the entryway, etc etc. Our hope is to tackle our master closet next year and create a better shelving and lighting setup than what we currently have in place.
Books read this year: 101
‘24 playlist (in no particular order):
Mean Girls Movie Cast - "Revenge Party" Bomb the Music Industry! - "Syke! Life Is Awesome!" The Briggs - "Who Would've Thought" The Royal Oui - "Wildflowers" Beyonce - "Texas Hold 'Em" Mike/Sailor Herrera - "Linoleum" Busted & Hanson - "MMMBop 2.0" Paul Baribeau - "Ten Things" Wolves of Glendale - "Ricky" Jonah Kagen - "God Needs The Devil" Willy Tea Taylor - "The Very Best" Zebrahead - "We're Not Alright" Ashes & Arrows - "On The Run" Andy Grammer - "Magic"

5 scariest legends in America
The United States is home to a diverse array of legends that have been passed down through generations, each with its own unique blend of terror and intrigue. These stories often originate from a mix of folklore, historical events, and cultural beliefs, and they continue to captivate and unsettle people to this day. Here are five of the scariest legends in America, each with its own distinct flavor of fear:
1. Bigfoot of Mt. Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Park
Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is one of the most enduring and widespread legends in the United States. With thousands of reported sightings across the country, this giant, hairy creature is said to roam the wilderness, often associated with the Pacific Northwest. Its massive size, elusive nature, and the unexplained sightings have cemented its place in American folklore, making it a staple of scary stories around campfires and in hushed whispers.
2. The White Walker of Acadia National Park
In the forests of Maine's Acadia National Park, the legend of the White Walker sends shivers down the spines of those who venture into the woods. This 7-foot-tall, white-furred creature is said to be a transformed human, cursed for committing a terrible crime. According to Indigenous legends, the White Walker can be cured with a Native American herbal remedy, but the bravery required to attempt such a feat is daunting. The White Walker's imposing presence and the dark magic surrounding its origins make it a truly terrifying entity.
3. The Watcher
This New Jersey legend tells the story of a family who received a series of disturbing letters from someone claiming to be watching them. The letters, which started in 2014, were signed "The Watcher" and contained ominous messages, including threats to the family's children. The true identity of The Watcher remains unknown, adding to the sense of unease and fear that permeates this legend. The fact that it is based on real events makes it all the more chilling.
4. Mercy Brown and the New England Vampire Panic
In the late 19th century, tuberculosis was rampant in New England, and people believed that the dead were rising from their graves to consume the living. Mercy Brown, a young woman who died of tuberculosis, was exhumed and found to have no signs of decomposition. This led to the belief that she was a vampire, and her body was subsequently desecrated in an attempt to stop the supposed curse. This legend taps into the deep-seated fear of the unknown and the supernatural, making it a haunting tale that continues to fascinate and terrify.
5. The Bandage Man of Oregon
The Bandage Man is a ghostly figure said to haunt the sawmills of Oregon. According to the legend, this man was brutally killed and dismembered at a sawmill, and his spirit now roams the area, attacking people who venture too close. The gruesome nature of his death and the fact that he is wrapped in bloody bandages make him a truly terrifying entity. The Bandage Man's presence is often felt in the form of unexplained noises, movements, and a general sense of dread.
These five legends represent just a small sample of the many scary stories that are woven into the fabric of American folklore. Each one has its own unique elements of terror, from the supernatural to the gruesome, and they continue to captivate and unsettle people to this day. Whether told around a campfire or shared in hushed whispers, these legends are a testament to the power of storytelling and the human imagination.

Awhile back, I was over in Sporting Goods helping to train somebody on how to sell Hunting/Fishing licenses when we got a customer asking us if we sold licenses to hunt Sasquatch.
Well, on Black Friday that same customer came back, recognized me, and told me he and his friend had camped out in the woods in a camper trailer and heard calls from something like no animal call they had ever heard. They were convinced it was Sasquatch.
They said the next step is to actually sight Sasquatch. I await the next update whenever they come back into the store.

Your recent post has made me curious about your experience. I was an onlooker/lurker to Eddsworld until late March/Early April.
Man. Where do I even begin, genuinely
guess you can call this The Not So Extensive Neb Eddsworld Lore because. I have a LOT to talk about. It's been almost a decade I've seen pretty much everything despite having joined in like. Late 2013
I discovered Eddsworld back in 2012 via Flipnote Hatena (fly high sweet angel), and I never actually actively cared about the series until September 2013, when I decided to give the series a shot after snobbing it for so long: and lol I'm obsessed
Also since I'm funny as all hell I'm gonna address to different eras of my experience with the characters I was obsessed with at the moment
This is what I call my Tom Era: I wasn't on any actual social media yet, except for Sudomemo and DeviantArt, where I had multiple rps with people and got scolded by someone's sister over roleplaying (ya that happened and it's still funny as hell)
Jump to uh. Late 2014 - 2015 when I actually join Tumblr with my main (the ogs will know <3) and that's when I actually started being active in the fanbase and produce content, this is the uh. Matt and Eduardo era? Sure why not. I made a lot of content of them and I don't like talking about this moment bc of personal trauma sorry lol <3
The sasquatch drama happened in this fragment of time, and some might even remember that I've talked about it in this blog at some point
Anyway it's the pre The End - Legacy era, the fandom was really small and everyone pretty much knew the other for better or for worse
Oh I had a Matt ask blog. Don't look for it or I'll get you and I'll bite you
I got a Flipnote I made in 2015 reblogged by Tomska and I felt like my life was complete, and a fanart liked by Kreid (poweredd animator in case u forgot)
Shit happens and now we're in 2016, the fandom explodes, i have no FUCKING idea was was going on at first but man. Man if it wasn't kind of funny to watch
Anyway it's important to also note that I uh. Don't. Really remember a lot from 2016-2017, no idea why, maybe it's just my brain going full on traumatic amnesia mode and deleting everything. But also this post is wayy too long on its own so I'll cut it short
I made that one magical au? I was an emotionally charged undiagnosed teenager so maybe being so active on the internet wasn't a great idea, I got teased by a "cringe art" account for my au who got BLASTED within an hour of existing, I made the Salty AU in 2018 with the ask blog, joined Amino which was just. The worst idea I had in that year alone, joined the official server in 2019 only to leave everything related to eddsworld behind in 2020 because holy shit what was that ... Also there's an high change that Matt has seen my au but I talked about this already.
Then came back in 2021 and the rest is history. Matt Mod, Patryck hyperfixation, yeah you know it
I cut it VERY short bc there's. A lot I don't wanna talk about (just. Personal unpleasant experiences) but man. Man if I don't sound like a mad man talking about this, like dude I've spend sooo much time in the fanbase and I've seen sooo much shit going on, it's like as if I'm talking to a therapist about this or something
#ta dah. just another long post on mxttellion dot com whats new#i really tried to be brief here honestly#rxplies#out of ew#pxrsonal#txt pxst

Your Matt Berninger story! Divine!
Oh my goodness, it really was! The setting was Sasquatch maybe 2014? I made it up to front row, and when I tell you that was one of the most rock n roll shows of my life... Matt was AMAZING. He kept taking swigs straight from the wine bottle and dropping it back into the ice bucket from a v great height lol. We convinced a camera man to give us the bottle, and then convinced a security guy to let us keep it (it was glass so technically a no-no). Then we ran to the Washed Out set and passed it around in a circle to polish it off, and I'm the lucky duck that kept the bottle lol. Hoping to see them again later this year! 🤞🏼
#time to listen to their entire catalog but only thinking about fexi#all dolled up in straps comes to mind#and of course i need my girl!
