“I put the pill in my mouth, the nurse handed me an orange bottle holding the second phase of my prescription. She carefully explained the process. Once I had taken it, I wasn’t supposed to leave my house. Just stay home and wait until it was all over. I blinked back my thoughts on the drive home. What had I done? I pulled my phone from my pocket. Scanning the web with my eyes blurred by tears, “Abortion Pill Reversal” caught my attention, and I followed the link. “Please, I just took the abortion pill. Please, what do I do?” They told me if I hadn’t taken the second phase, I may be able to reverse the effects. No, I hadn’t, I told them. They said I could come in right away, but their brick and mortar clinic wouldn’t be open. Instead, they said I could come to their mobile clinic to receive an ultrasound that very night. I pulled up close to the bright teal mobile unit, and I was ready for the ultrasound within minutes. My eyes glued to the screen, I clenched my teeth to keep my lips from trembling. After a few moments, the nurse pointed, making some measurements. “This is the heartbeat,” she said. I let out a sort of laugh. The nurse smiled sweetly and assured me everything was okay. I nodded through tears, letting a smile stretch my cheeks taught. They gave me my first dose of progesterone that would be necessary to keep my baby alive. Plunking myself in my car with a sigh, I put a hand on my stomach. I laughed softly, releasing tension like water from a tap. When I got home, I took the orange bottle the other nurse had given me and dropped it into the trash. I stood for a minute, looking at the orange plastic half hidden by the folds of the white trash bag. If I had taken it, it would have been all over. That heartbeat would have stopped. I let the can lid slam. Two weeks later, another ultrasound showed a still healthy heartbeat. The tiny being inside of me had even grown in that short time. Amidst all the endings and promises of sorrow, I now have a beginning to look forward to. Singer Joy Villa wears anti-abortion gown on Daytime Emmys red carpet: 'Pro-life is pro-woman'

Joy Villa may be more renown for her controversial red carpet statements than her discography — and she shows no signs of slowing down.

The conservative singer-songwriter — who has hit the Grammys in gowns with “Make America Great Again” and “Build the Wall” slogans — resurfaced on the Daytime Emmys red carpet on Sunday in a dress espousing her anti-abortion views.

The Desi Designs Couture gown was embellished with images of storks carrying babies, while its bright green skirt featured the line “Pro-life is pro-woman.”

According to an Instagram post by Villa, the dress is in honor of the anti-abortion organization Save the Storks, “a charity my husband and I financially support ... for only $35/month you can save the unborn and their mothers.”

She continued, “Abortion is so often only spoken about as a ‘women’s right’ but I stand here to stand up for EVERY WOMAN and her right to life!”

She also spoke of once being “pressured” to get an abortion, but instead arranged an open adoption for the baby girl she delivered.

Villa has previously worn outfits slamming abortion rights. She attended the 2018 Grammys in a dress that featured a hand-painted baby and a rainbow uterus, while her purse read “Choose Life.” And in March, she supported the premiere of the anti-abortion film Unplanned wearing a hot pink latex dress that read “F**k Planned Parenthood.”

Unsurprisingly, her latest outspoken ensemble has caused quite the stir. Villa tweeted that she was harassed while posing on the red carpet.

Ok it was an INCREDIBLE night at the #DaytimeEmmys (my 1st!) but some of the photographers were yelling insults at me. Crazy right? One woman screamed “Joy! YOU ARE WRONG. PROLIFE IS NOT PROWOMAN!” This is the 2nd time photographers have tried to harass me on red carpet.

While likeminded supporters are cheering her red carpet stunt, Villa’s anti-abortion dress has also prompted backlash from critics of Scientology, which she practices.

Joy is a prominent Scientologist. She and her husband donate a lot of money to Scientology. For decades Scientology forced women members of the Sea Org to have abortions.
