hi sorry for bothering you but ive been wanting to ask for a while, how do you pick colors for your art? How did you learn to paint so well?

a lot of trial and error plus three years and counting of art school definitely helped! i just started digitally painting relatively recently and my recommendation would be trying to emulate painting styles you enjoy (i have a whole pinterest board full of em!) and to do a lot of studies, a lot of painting skin is just shifting between hues and adding shadow/light! when i was first starting out i used to look at this pic a lot (it's SOO helpful)

and for colors i usually just go with the flow honestly, different pieces call for different colors but my general rule is to go saturated and flesh out the color by hueshifting warm or cool :-)

Quick updates

• got an internship set up! Which means I’ll be graduating August 2024 for sure. This is like a whole six months sooner than I thought btw.

• ‘Boutsta be in the final two weeks of class so I’m gonna be slammed

• got new ADHD meds that are working so, so well! It’s made me so much more productive and has been working great with my others meds so far

• as part of The Great CC Purge of 2024, I had to go back and re-edit townies and NPCs and even had to touch up the Orsons, their home, and some of their friends in CAS. This is taking a little bit, hence all the Harris Save posts

• Fun fact: all of the Harris Save posts y’all have been seeing are from March - June 2023, and so far I’ve posted a little under half of what I have

• I think I mentioned this before, but when I get back to posting the Orsons there’s going to be a bit of a time jump (like a yearish). There’s going to be a lot of changes so there will be a sort of “what happened since last we checked in” post. I’ll announce when I have a date in

• Since I’m being slammed with essays and stuff I haven’t been active beyond setting up my queue. I have two weeks in between this semester ending and the summer semester starting which I plan on not playing any Sims at all and just spring cleaning, hanging out with friends and family, and doing some creative stuff

Some more 'ink wash'* after work on Dream Life book two. Very relaxing after some of what I was doing today. Shifting gears between fluid rotations for a fairly geometric wheal chair, and then doing super cartoony musical interments in an almost flat style. *Book two is actually all digital, i starter this page in PS and working in clip studio now. okay i need to put this in the world before i crumble into bed today after our ptm my momtook me to the placeshe learnt abacus from (she'sgoing to be teaching so she was thereto observe the teachers i thinkn she only knows teh first couple levels) and i was absolutely exhausted and with a bad headache (i hate air conditioners). it's a little small, teh reception area but they'vewon so many prizes and been to many different states its amazing honestly. as soon as i waslked in there my brain stopped. in a good way. my dad always says that temples make him forget everything thats going on in his mind it's a comfort place for him he isn't even religious STILL. thats how i felt when i was in the little school. peace. tranquil. loved. the teacher who was at teh reception had a very very kind face, hesmiled at one of the kids and i felt.safe. those kids are going to grow up smart and loved. im in awe of that place. i looked at teh kids and the teacher and he talked to me a little and i forgot everything that i was thinking before. it was beautiful.

Despite their rough start, Tatertot definitely hangs out with Stormy the most and will love up on her if neither Lou nor Ed is an option.

BTW friggin' finally got some CASpiration to cute up the Tomarang townies, so those will be popping up alongside some Orson stuff. Gonna be busy with schoolies for the next few weeks, so trying to get a nice backlog going!

ALSO I know I've been tagged in things and I totally will do them! Just maybe not until the weekend. My partner's mom is taking me and his family to some dinner theater thing as a late birthday gift plus I have to write a paper that's like "I totally have been nonstop thinking and working on scoring myself an internship for this summer in order to graduate and definitely didn't do pretty much everything like three days before the paper is due."
