When working with crest artwork for custom engraving, we have design options which present themselves as a good compromise.
A chief's crest for the Scottish badge is encircled by a strap and buckle inscribed with the chief's motto. These often have a hanging fob wich can make for odd sizing and centering.
We have many clients who prefer to leave off the fob to allow the text to be enlarged & legible and full image centered.
We think the results are pure barry!

Alright so I've been watching Outlander for a few days now and I came to the episode of the wedding. There we come to hear about Jamie's full name, his last name is what interested me, which is Fraser. Now Fraser was/is a real clan from that time, and I remember my girlfriend telling me that her last name came from the Scottish probably, her last name is Freijser. I've been looking it up and my gf told me that her father had looked it up and that their crest was a stag of some sort or a strawberry plant. The Fraser clan came from France and at some they were divided into 2, the Highlands and the Lowlands. The Highland clan has the stag as his crest while the lowlands has a strawberry plant or plant of some sort as it's crest.
Now also the name Fraser/Freijser means Strawberry.
It maybe is a useless fact for you, and you can also tell me if I'm wrong ofcourse but I just found it very interesting and because of this I would like to go to Scotland and see the castle that the Fraser clan had as their own in that time.

16th April 1746. Date of the Battle of Culloden, the last battle fought on British soil, and the end of the Jacobite rising in 1745. The battle was the last attempt to place a Catholic Stuart monarch back upon the throne. The aftermath of the battle saw the destruction of the highland way of life, and also a subsequent crackdown instigated by the Duke of Cumberland, earning him the title ‘the butcher of Cumberland’. In the same year, an act of parliament was passed outlawing the wearing of tartan, and highland dress. 1860 dress "This dress was worn by Mrs. Ogilvie at the ball given in honour of the Prince of Wales after the inauguration of the Victoria Bridge in 1860. A number of members of Montreal's industrial middle class were in attendance... Indeed the fabric of this dress, a variation on the tartan of the Ogilvie clan, attests to the Ogilvie family's Scottish roots." This ensemble is shown with a day and evening bodice. Posted @withrepost • @glencoefolkmuseum You may have noticed that we closed up a little bit early on Saturday, but there was a very good reason for that...! 🎬🎥 We were absolutely thrilled to welcome @samheughan and @grahammctavish of Outlander fame to the museum on their first day of filming for 'Clan Lands', a new show exploring the history and culture of the Scottish clans. We discussed the Jacobites and the MacDonalds of Glencoe, and even let them get up close and personal with some of our objects! We can't wait to see the finished product, and wish them the best of luck with the show. . . . #scotland #scottishhighlands #glencoe #visitscotland #hiddenscotland #myoutdoorcapital #wildaboutlochaber #bbcscotlandpics #highlandmuseums #discoverglencoe #clanlands @clanlands #outlander @outlander_starz #jacobites #samheughan #grahammctavish #michellemethvenproductions #outlanderscotland #scottishclans #scottishhistory #museumlife #itsgreattocurate #perksofthejob https://www.instagram.com/p/B2OMQilBYSv/?igshid=6fe79xfvfypi

On this day in 1562, the Battle of Corrichie was fought on the slopes of Meikle Tap, near Aberdeen.
The battle was the culmination of simmering tensions between George Gordon, 4th Earl of Huntly, and Mary, Queen of Scots.
As one of Mary's few remaining Catholic nobles in country by then transformed by the phenomenon of the Protestant Reformation, it might have been expected that Huntly would have been amongst the least likely to openly oppose his Queen.
Nevertheless, oppose her he did. Angry at the granting of the Earldom of Moray he believed was his birthright to Mary's half-brother James Stewart, he would not give his son John up to the Queen as demanded, and his lieutenant at Inverness Castle refused Mary entry to the northern fortress. Huntly was soon declared a rebel, and formed an army of around 700 men before marching towards Aberdeen.
Huntly's army was met by a considerably larger force outside the city led by the Earl of Moray, and soundly defeated. He was said to have died of a heart attack and shortly afterwards his son John was executed in Aberdeen, apparently not without the tears of the Queen, who, it was rumoured, had been a lover of the young man.
Today, the battlefield, now largely covered by commercial forestry is marked by a solitary granite standing stone, inscribed with the Gaelic "Cuimhnichibh La Coire Fraoichidh" - Remember the Day of Corrichie.
Sincere thanks to Mel Stephens (https://ift.tt/2ORjGZ8) for his atmospheric picture of the battlefield monument. — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/2CNllIb

A little personal project I cranked out for the Mrs and I’s new cooler. It wasn’t the most fun to redraw and even more of a beast to execute on the cutter, but I’m happy with the result. Kilmorie Chapel
We spotted this chapel on the side of the road and pulled over to check it out. This little chapel is the final resting place of members of the Maclachlan clan. This is one of the few remaining medieval church structures in the west of Scotland. This peaceful site was an unexpected treat. It’s well worth a visit, but if you go treat it with the respect this site deserves - RoxyC.  Found this by accident. Definitely a happy accident as it is one of the most picturesque places I’ve been to. There is great history buried here, have a gander if you’re in this neck of the woods -TommyC.
