This was by far one of my favorite shots from my shoot with Kaylee. The rustic setting, the bright smile, the relaxed pose, this shot is absolutely amazing. Interesting thing about portraits, you don't always have to have a big happy smile in them. Sometimes, the small, confident smile can speak so much more than your traditional smile. I've always wondered why certain photographers act the way they do. From my understanding, as well as personal philosophy, you are providing a service to your model, as well as vice versa, so we should treat the models with a level of professionalism and a respect we would want to be treated. So why do certain photographers have to mistreat and disrespect people, whether its poor treatment while working with clients, or trying to solicit photoshoots of a more intimate nature without building a level of trust first? It's been one of those things I've noticed that has irritated me as a photographer because it scares off people that I believe could do fantastic work as a model. Lesson I learned, try to keep am open perspective on what's going on around you. Example from this weekend, my whole schedule got flipped upside down. Instead of getting upset about it, I tried looking at it from other angles, and realized God may be using my inconveniences for a reason I won't understand. What do you consider photography to be? Is it an expression of artistic skill and creative talent? Or is it a grind, churning out images for a client, whoever they may be? 2021 was a good year in terms of my photography. I finally got out there and started working with models. @ainsleigh.mitchell here being the first to ever work with me.
