Scarf Of The Day. Xavier Cugat was a bandleader from the 1920s on, and began appearing in motion pictures with his band. His first notable appearance was in 1942 in the movie 'You Were Never Lovelier' which was initially titled 'Carnival In Rio' as is this scarf. In highly colorful surroundings, we have a conga line, or a parade during Carnival. Scarf of the Day. Circa 1940s to very early 1950s. Vera Neumann small silk scarf with hand rolled hem. Fine, lightweight silk fabric. 22 x 21-1/4 inches square. A border of lemons, leaves, and flowers surround a background of lemon slices on yellow silk. Vera and George Neumann began Printex in 1942 on a small handmade screen print that fit on their dining room table. They began with small items such as napkins and place mats.
