Short Fic Excerpt: ‘Rectified and Faceless’

The amount of inspiration that is this little fic comes from SlashFlim’s article with Bill Wolkoff talking about what his team had in mind for Uprising Season 2 before the plug was pulled. Definitely didn’t drop my two OCs here.

The ambush was a complete bust as Sam and Tron took care of the black guards, derezzing them one by one. Whoever sent these programs definitely didn’t know how to lead. Sam and Tron retracted their discs, rushing to assist the Dyad. Pi and Chi sliced through the small squadron of sentries, pinning one on the ground like the last time. Chi retracted his lightscythe and began scanning the sentry’s body for more intel on this new enemy that’s been leading these attacks. He was thankful for the upgrade with Sam Flynn’s new update to his left eye visor. Chi turned to Pi, who had knocked the sentry out.

“What’s on your mind for this one?”

Pi glared at the helmet, sighing as the network memories appeared again.

“We never told Sam Flynn about this, didn’t we?”

“We didn’t, Pi.”

“The User has to know his enemies instead of fighting blind.”

“You have a point, Pi. He hasn’t learned the worst about rectification.”

“What?”, interrupted Sam. “What do you mean I haven’t learned the worst?”

Tron looked away. He knew what they were about to show to the User and he did not want to partake in it.

“Sentries may be infantry, Sam Flynn,” explained Pi as she began disconnecting the network cables on the back of the sentry’s helmet. “Yet there is something you need to know.”

Pi gently removed the helmet and Sam felt like he was about to vomit. He didn’t like the view at all. The more he stared at the sentry, the more Sam wanted to look away. All he saw was a mouth and the rest was nothing but voxels and damaged circuitry. This is what Pi and Chi wanted him to know. This was the true reveal of the sentries; the faceless programs of the Occupation.

I found this video that just randomly appeared in my recommendations. Everyone is like “Yeah, this is about Mimi Sentry” but the whole video I was sitting there thinking “Why does Engineer look so good??”. Man, guess you can tell a buff mercs enjoyer when you see one.
