@hello_domina wrote these words for our hook pull today: “A waning crescent moon is up in the east before sunrise. It’s waning toward the new moon when the moon will be between the Earth and the sun. Astronomers call this an old moon.” I don’t know what this means to Domina or anyone else. There were well qualified energy workers and witches at the beach who could comment on the nuances of these statements. That’s not me. I will say this about the moon. I know it has a magnetic effect on the ocean and the rise and fall of the tides. I know there is a connection between menstruation and the lunar cycle. In Greek tragedy catharsis was related to menses or purification. To me, Domina’s words about the moon are a story of cathartic purification. To bleed. To release any fear for the future, and in letting go be present with the rise and fall of the tides of experience. Which is what we did. As a family. The women took hooks. Stood in the ocean.
