i have so many thoughts about the epilogue so just jgbrbgjhrgbhrjg under the readmore spoilers for if u havent gone through it yet

the whole experience honestly just felt like a warm hug from both the creators and the cast of characters themselves. i haven’t existed in the fandom space for all that long, and i’ve yet to publish any works or generate any content for it, but just playing this through i still felt welcomed and appreciated and loved!! but i also loved how they incorporated So Many fanworks into it!!! from the email icons, to the images they sent, even the links they mentioned (the zine, penny snapcubes playthrough, that spotify playlist). this is one of the few times i’ve seen creators Truly acknowledge and appreciate their fanbase and validate the creations made inspired by the base material. it made the whole experience all the more warm!!! 

also the dialogue still felt very real!! i was nearly screaming bc even though i couldn’t hear the lil noises the characters make when you interacted with them in the game, i still could imagine their sprites and the way their sprites would change based on emotions and it was just!!!! so good!!! obviously they made the game so they’d understand the dialogue of their own characters but like props to em bc this is amazing

last but not least we got habit and kamal and i Will be crying about this for the next eight hundred forever bc God,,,,,Gay People. 

i feel like the steam cards and habit’s valentine’s tweets sorta give away how their subtle implications are meant to be viewed, but i also really like how their current relationship is sorta open-ended! like they’re in the friend phase now, and in time Will Definitely be a thing. but i also feel like you could interpret it as Currently they’re a couple and they’re just being quiet abt it bc idk anxiety?? who knows. but i really liked how kamal was willing to help habit through everything!!! it’s very sweet!!! tho i really do hope he got some therapy bc he needs therapy God Please They All Do 

honestly my favorite parts of this thing were kamal. i love how he sorta lead the charge in organizing this email list, when in the game he relied on You to get everything together before he sprung into action. i think it proves that kamal’s got more gumption than previously assumed!! whether he gained some confidence after the Habitat, or was just really quiet and non-committal Because of getting tooth-shamed by Habit, it was really nice to see kamal portrayed as not just some anxious bumbling guy. dude’s got some depth!!! i feel like sometimes the fandom boils him down to just his anxiety, but this epilogue really let more of his character out!! like the fact that he plays the CELLO???? HELLO??? SIR??? YOU ARE A LEGEND??? DID YOU KNOW THIS???

also the music Literally made me cry. if it didnt make you cry, listen to it again. gods of composing, i swear! 

lastly, the ending. i really did love how they left you, the player (or the flower kid), the opportunity to just Say Anything. you didn’t have to do it immediately, you weren’t given dialogue options. you got a blank box to write Whatever, and i think that’s really sweet and satisfying and just...good! 

my email was kind of short. i felt weird writing it at first because my personal interpretation of flower kid is (like frisk) theyre their own character?? apart from the player?? but i know that wasn’t limbolane’s intentions, and both creators have said that flower kid can be an audience insert or an actual character based on your interpretation!! i could’ve delved into all the emotional ways in which i feel like this game has moved me during the, like, three months ive been hyperfixated on it. but i didnt! bc i didnt wanna cry anymore hgrbhjrgbh

i did call habit a king tho and i live by that. 

basically tldr; Play Smile For Me and Play The Epilogue bc it’s very good

The epilogue is very touching.... BUT YOU CAN’T JUST WRITE THAT HABIT!!!

i wonder if Kamal comes across as having much less of an anxious energy in the epilogue because it is easier for him to explain himself in writing (can relate) or because he’s been doing better since the messy Habitat situation was resolved... either way i love him so much good for him

The Future of Anewtale.

I just wanted to share my thoughts on the future of my AU and answer some questions some may have.

Is the Anewtale blog dead? No. I will still give updates and reblogs of people who make art or anything fan made. (Sidenote, Fanart is appreciated. Not asking for it. I know this story isn’t the best.)

Where is Chara in all this? They only have a brief appearance at the end.

Will you continue to work on the story? Yes. Even though it is complete, I will most likely fix errors and possibly change things.

If this were made into a game or comic, would there be a soundtrack? Yes. I’m currently working on a list. There is music from the original game (Might be some Deltarune there.) and music from other artists like Daft Punk (TRON OST) and Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein (Stranger Things OST)

Why is this a Wattpad story and not a comic? Two reasons. 1). I can’t draw and 2). I have no money to hire someone. Besides, I feel like the story isn’t “finished” yet. Even though the plot is finished, I still might change little things like things that happen, dialogue, etc.

I want to draw art of the OC’s in the story. What do they look like? Again, I can’t draw. Most I can do is SFM posing and recolors. (Sidenote, when I recolor, I don’t post them and say “origal caractur dont steel.” I mainly do it for my own entertainment and don’t really do it anymore.)

How can I draw them if I don’t know what they look like? Well, I may not be talented in drawing or art, but, I’m good with those online avatar creators like Rinmaru’s Mega Manga Avatar Creator and Gachaverse. I will post those in the future when I have a final Idea.

Will the story continue in a sequel? It is possible. But, I would like to focus more attention on shaping the current story as I see fit and working on my original story, The Encryptors which is also on my Wattpad. Would really appreciate a read on what’s happening so far in that one. For a more in depth response, look beyond the spoilers if you’ve read the full story or don’t care about spoilers.

Will Anewtale get a sequel? As mentioned above, it is possible. For the more in depth part. Jeriko was a (sort of) hint for a sequel. But I still need to figure out his backstory, abilities and other things.

Is Asike’ dead? Yes. However, if I make a sequel, he will appear at random points,

Who is Jeriko? To be honest, I’m not sure myself. What you see in the story is what I got for now.

What’s wrong with Jeriko? All I can say is that something is taking him over. And it’s not a kind entity.

What is the book? One thing I’ve chosen for Jeriko that’s not fully shown in the Epilogue is that Jeriko, is a magic user, but not the type normally in Undertale and their respective AUs. Jeriko is more like a warlock or druid. He casts spells from a spell book which is what is shown. I like to think that the wizards in the backstory of Undertale are local to the area of Mt. Ebott. Jeriko comes from a group that was situated elsewhere.

Is Chara taking over Jeriko? No. While I don’t have a definitive answer as to who or what is taking him over, it’s most likely not Chara.

Is the figure that haunted Asike’s dreams Gaster? Like Jeriko, I’m not entirely sure. Yes, the cloaked figure all in black looks like what Gaster is imagined in the majority of people’s artistic depictions and AUs like Glitchtale and Endertale/Siblingtale.

If Anewtale gets a sequel, will Chara and/or Asike’ have a significant role? Yes. While they will appear at random in the story, they will have a significant role towards the end. Like a heroic climax but again, a sequel in the works is NOT in the works at the moment.

Will Azira return? Probably.

What things are you planning for a sequel if you have any or any you can give without spoiling anything? Well, I know that the story will more focus on Asriel’s new life with his parents and Frisk and will focus on Jeriko.

Is Asriel alive? Yes. In case you didn’t understand, in the beginning of the story, Asike’ and Flowey have some sort of force pulling them together. A really weak force like an old fridge magnet. In the prologue, some white powder was dropped in the serum to give to Asike’. Since Alphys moved her things from her lab, it’s safe to say that she took Asriel’s ashes (albeit not knowing.) Along with her to her new lab and doctor’s office. So, the powder were Asriel’s ashes. When Asike’ gave his Soul to Flowey to become Asriel again, the soul transfer was permanent since Asike’s body turned to dust once he died. This also explains why Asike’s soul is linked with Asriel. Even though Asike’s soul had Asriel’s essence in it, it still had Asike’s as well.

How will we know if Anewtale is getting a sequel? Will you tell us? Of course. But like Toby, It won’t be without confusion.
