The Aliens of Star from the Stars

So I have a new WiP, featuring some weird creatures. Note that their names are what the human protagonists call them.

Living Carpets (aka Cousin Its)

This species is comprised of several thousand tiny crab-like creatures, called "tix". Each one has a foot-long "hair" on its back, which it uses to communicate with its fellows. Each colony's intelligence is proportional to the number of members in it — however, each tix also has its own personality. A colony that grows too large will often split itself up due to irreconcilable differences; its a bit like a tiny country full of citizens.

A single carpet might even have something like a civil war, in which tix may take sides and attack each other. The winner forms a smaller but stronger colony.

Tix reproduce by mitosis, and feed primarily on iron. Though they can get this from dirt of the right composition, some will attack cast iron or even the blood of Earthling creatures.

Below is what a living carpet climbing a flight of stairs would look like:

In motion, they often "flow" like water, with each tix's hair pointing the same direction.

Nightstalkers

Tall and pale, nightstalkers resemble a pair of slim legs topped by a large white orb. They are silicon-based lifeforms, appearing to be made of glass but not quite as fragile.

They also have unique psychic powers, able to manipulate solid objects by utilizing a type of physics unknown to humans. Nightstalkers use the same powers to create illusions in the minds of those who look at them, able to become invisible at will.

They have a mouth on the bottom of each of their feet, containing extremely hard mouthparts that can grind hard stone to a fine dust. They normally eat silica mixed with other minerals.

Two in a flowerpot

Perhaps she liked the garden of my house, the mother cat gave birth to three kittens. Once upon a time, I used to keep and feed them as "pity", but this time it is different. Think cute and leave it alone.

Be on the sidelines of their lives without taking care of anything. In fact, the number of three is now reduced to one. Kittens are extremely weak.

Hesitate even to touch. This is because wild animals are thought to have ticks that carry the scary SFTS (case fatality rate of 30%), and even touching them is dangerous.

Also, if you keep it, the medical expenses at the veterinarian at the end of the life of the animal are enormous, and the burden on my home is excessive.

The last one also died on July 1st. According to my brother, he was dead in a milk carton garbage collection net. Not enough milk he drank, he really wanted milk. Too miserable. … what was the mother cat doing? I prayed.

thinking about sfts kids and their motives... lumes is obviously 2 learn magic, connie's is to be kinder/grow into themself, and vivienne's is to figure out what she wants to do methinks.

i need to plan vivienne more because iiiillllll be honest she didnt have much to her back when i was a baby but she was meant to be some form of foil to her. or some kind of opposite... cuz vivi has the whole sparkle motif (which runs with spoiler stuff that lume has) but im debating on making her more moon themed since i feel like the aesthetic of the sparkle would be a little nonsensical if it were used for more than the stuff w/ luminosity
