I think parents do play a large role in their children’s beliefs. I mean, they raise them under a specific set of rules and ideals, and if that’s what those kids are exposed to, then that’s what they will learn. I do believe, however, that there comes a point where the children grow up and start exploring other beliefs as they come to understand the world around them and make sense of their experiences, and at that point, then it becomes the children’s decision: do they stick to the beliefs they were brought up with? or do they venture away from them and seek other beliefs that seem to speak to them more?
