What's this, you might ask? It's the start to the Hatchy Pile!

Essentially, anyone can join in to draw their interpretation or their version of Hatchling. Just reblog with your addition and let's see how many Hatchlings we can fit!

This is something I've participated in, in past fandoms so I thought it'd be fun to do for Outer Wilds ::)

Canvas size is 2400x2950, but feel free to extend it if it gets too full ^^

13. How does your Hatchling like their marshmallows?

Either raw (they'll mindlessly eat a tin of them as a snack) or the perfect golden brown (They know the exact place and length of time to roast it to perfection. They practiced ALOT, even before the loops. It was one of their first experiments outside of studying the Interloper)

They will not touch it if it's burnt in anyway and don't understand Gabbro when they purposefully burn theirs. Like??? Gabs... it kills the sweetness! what are you DOING?!

29. If the time loop had never happened, what kind of astronaut would your Hatchling have become?

Well their main goal was to be the first to set foot on the Interloper so you'd think Explorer, but really i think once they were finished there they'd settle on just astronomy.

They'd either spend all their time with Chert (that part is always the same, no matter the time line) or come home and help out Hornfels with ground control and maybe work on writing a book about their findings inside the Interloper.

40. What discovery was the most shocking for your Hatchling and why?

Oh boy. I think it's a three way tie between Poke and Pye/ the true contents inside the Interloper (i even wrote a whole fanfic about their reaction because imo it's one of THE biggest points in their whole character arc), that the sun is dying and not being blown up by the Nomai, and the hugging Nomai floating by the false signal.

Though as i'm writing this i'm not sure they're shocking, but whey were for sure the most devastating to them ...

(and to me the player. The emotions I felt hearing that [ONE] track for the first time... Godd... There's a reason Castaways is my favourite of the whole OST...)

50. Freebie! Tell us any headcanon you want.

I think for this freebie I'm gonna go with: Coffee vs. Tea!!

Mylo is a coffee drinker. No milk substitute, just enough sugar syrup to make their teeth ache. They drink their fair share of tea, especially if they're already making some for Chert, but if they had to choose between them coffee would win every time.

At last- it's finally completed

SO SOME BACKSTORY REAL QUICK: this idea originated from an ask @kyanite-shards answered about their OC Kyanite, in which Kyanite would spend their free time in the Quantum Groove during the timeloops- and I just really wanted to draw it because 1. Angst, 2. and I wanted to do more backgrounds

SO HERE IS THE END RESULT- watching the streams and listening to everyone's music playlist really motivated me to push through and complete this!

Hypothesis: The Hatchy Pile will be a fun activity to do.

For those new to my blog or unaware, I started The Hatchy Pile where essentially anyone and everyone is welcome to draw their versions of Hatchling and add them to my initial drawing!

When I started it, I had noticed that everyone had so many cool and interesting interpretations of Hatchling. Each one with unique designs and styles/quirks and stories. So, what better way to display that than to start this sort of open collab project with the community!

Aaaaaaand I'm extremely delighted to say that my hypothesis was very much confirmed!

So many people joined in to add their Hatchlings to the pile and it grew so much that the canvas had to be extended to fit more! It brings me so much joy seeing so many different art styles and so many variations of the silly little fish frog alien we all play as in the game.

And I wanted to extend a HUGE Thank you to everyone who participated!!! For taking time out of your days to join in on an activity as a community. Genuinely, the reception to the Hatchy Pile has been incredible and I hope that this inspires more piles in the future! ::D

Pu-erh - What does your OC do when they’re stuck indoors for a day or two?

If it's rain they're hiding away from, they love to curl up with a cup of coffee and a good book! They're the kind of person that can get so lost in a book that they won't even notice time go by so they'll easily make it through a few days cooped up.

If they're sick and stuck in bed they're the kind of person to have folders and notebooks on the bedside table at all times so they can work in bed if they need to! (Mini workaholic in the making... Wonder where they picked that up from...)

Peppermint - How does your OC handle the cold?

They're always in their signature knit hat and turtleneck plus they run on the warmer side so they're never really that cold but if the cabin is drafty they pile on the blankets until they're a cocoon with only their eyes showing.

You know who DOES get cold easily though? Chert. And since Mylo is pretty much a space heater Chert basically clings to them like a little koala (or what ever the hearthian equivalent to a koala is) for warmth.

Ginger - What always brightens your OC’s day?

Honestly? It's the little things. Like waking up to fresh tea or coffee already being made. Finding a new book to get lost in. Being the one to make their loved ones smile. A warm meal after a long day.

For the fanfic ask game! 2, 6, 10, 14 ::3

2 - Which of your fics is your pride and joy?

Okay so in general i think it’s a current tie between You Can’t See Me Behind the Screen (Stanley Parable 432 centered fic) and Berry-Jam Kisses (Outer wilds Time Buddies)

YCSMBtS was the first fic i actually wrote up to the ending for (I never posted the ending because its half finished but it exists!!!! Kinda!!!). It was a pretty big driving force for my creativity and drive for writing fics. One day i want to actually finish it and give the loyal fans of it a proper ending. Maybe even rewrite it now that i have have a new way of formatting stuff and i feel a lot more confident in my writing!!!

BJK was a christmas exchange gift that i was innitially really worried to share but it was pretty highly received within the fandom + the gift recipient and it still makes me smile going back to read all of the comments whenever i feel down about my writing :’}

6 - Would you ever accept requests or commissions?

So for legal reasons i can’t except commissions on fanfiction, though i probably would do comissions on personal ocs and works!! I might open up Drabble requests one of these days for practice tho…

10 - Is there a character or ship you'd love to write for, but haven't yet?

Fiddlestan (Gravity Falls Stanley Pines/Fiddleford McGucket). Oh how i wish i could write for fiddlestan…

I also desperately want to write for ShuMika (Enstars Shu Itsuki/Mika Kagehira) or just Shu in general. That man some how found his way onto my kin list for dumb reasons but god if it doesn’t make me want to pick him apart and study him under a microscope. I actually have some written for a hanahaki fic but i never posted it because I’m worried about getting canon events like the war-era and stuff wrong aaaaa

14 - What makes you happiest? New fic comments, kudos, bookmarks, user subscribers, story subscribers, or Tumblr asks?

COMMENTS!!!!!

Kudos are obviously very much appreciated and i smile like an idiot every time i see reoccurring people wind up in my email inbox from kudosing all my works but like. I YEARN for validation and to hear peoples thoughts on my work. Even just like ‘AAAAAAA’ or a few emojis is enough to know that you read through the whole thing and liked it enough to stick around and let me know!!!

Subscribers both for fics and for me are also incredibly appreciated. Like what do you MEAN you love the fic so much you want to be notified that theres more. What do you MEAN you like me in GENERAL so much you want to be notified when i post ANYTHING AT ALL???!!! HUH??!!! <33333
